There is a giant billboard above this place that reads:
"Mexican food you can't make at home, gringo!"
Naturally this challenge had me intrigued and I am happy to admit they were right!
I went last Tuesday evening and had a Habanero Prawn and a Grilled Chicken Taco accompanied by several Pacifico Lagers and an absolutely amazing jalapeño margarita.
Everything from the ambience and service by friendly, professional waitstaff to the open kitchen, aromas and tastes just reminded me of travelling Mexico, and they nailed it.
It was so good I went back again last night.
I had been eyeing off the Duck Nachos since the week before so we got those to split (with a Day of The Dead PA and a cocktail special - both perfect pairing) and I regret this decision still.
I should have just gotten them for myself. IMO, hands down the best nachos I've ever eaten and I absolutely regret having to share with my date. I'm still wondering if it would be too weird to go back again today for lunch. The flavour and spice were on point and taste still lingers fondly in my mind like a lost lover.
Again, service was awesome and the waitstaff were always nearby if you ever need anything.
Fairly confident I'll be back next week, too.
TL;DR
10/10. Flipping amazing. Get the Duck Nachos with a Pacifico and follow up with a Jalapeño Margarita.
absolutely beautiful place. the staff were very helpful in explaining the menu and drink suggestions.
had the duck nachos, mango chicken tacos, and two small mains.. all were perfectly cooked and well presented.
well priced for 2 people and would reccomend to all my friends
I quality feed in Gouger St. Very authentic with a touch of spice. The corn was one of the best I have in Australia and the fried chicken wings were a delight. Recommend for Mexican lovers.
The guacamole is amazing, a small serve but flavour was amazing. The 3 beef enchiladas were perfect. Small once again but presentation was fantastic and flavours were perfect and the beef was so tender. Classic margaritas were a modern twist on a classic drink. Table service was prompt an professional.
I’m a sucker for mexican cuisine and this place really exceeded my expectations. The soft shell crab taco was delicious, and my lime and cilantro chicken was so good my partner kept stealing it off my plate. Ice cream sandwich was bomb. Honestly I can’t pick a winner, they’re all great. Service was friendly, but a little slow (over half an hour for our food, another half an hour for dessert). Hard to get someone’s attention and they kept forgetting our orders. But since we weren’t in a rush and it was pouring outside, we didn’t mind waiting.
Loved their entrees.Beautiful softshell crab taco and prawn taco.Duck nachos were perfectly spiced and not too hot,Tuna ceviche was fresh and loaded with flavours.Helpful and smiling Service staff.loved it
This is my fave Mexican place in Adelaide. There’s a reason I keep coming back and they keep winning awards. Foods always fantastically packed full of flavours. The feed me menu is fun filled with lots of food, the only time I was unhappy with it was when food kept coming out quicker than we could consume it. The desert nachos were a winner when they first opened. I love their ever evolving menu, even the corn cob has been fancied since I first came here. Great service, always gets packed so make sure you book. Yum! Must try.
Fantastic little find! Absolutely delicious food! Every single dish we had was amazing. Service was friendly and the food came out super quick. Only draw back was that we were seated in the separate bar room with pretty bad music and a nightclub feel but the delicious food made up for it. We will definitely be going back soon!
A lovely casual Mexican dining experience at a moderate price.
Craving some Mexican on a Friday night, we decided to head to Mexican Society and use up a $30 voucher that we'd been holding on to for a while now. Upon entering, we were greeted with a bustling, lively, and spirited atmosphere. Hanging lights and candle-lit, it was an appealing setting.
To save ourselves the headache of choosing what to eat, we tried the 'Mexican Traffic' banquet option. Not quite knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised by some of the courses that came up, as well as the amount of food! Our favourite from the night was the elote cake, with salted caramel icecream, supplemented by pistachio and corn crumb. The lamb meatballs were also quite nice, as was the duck salad. Nothing really fell short in terms of food.
Unfortunately, our only real complaint stems from the time allowed for weekend bookings - we were informed when we booked that there would only be about 90 minutes to eat. For that amount of time, we had to really struggle to finish all the food. Although we knew well how much time we had, we were unprepared for how quickly time passed in good food and good company. We left feeling a tiny rushed and very stuffed, and it felt like a small detraction from the otherwise good experience.
For casual Mexican dining, we were quite satisfied. If you plan to come for the banquet, either be ready to eat quickly, or go on a weekday!
The aim for tonight was Asian cuisine for dinner but then we walked passed this place and saw their menu on display in front of their store which enticed us and the plan changed. We got here around 6pm, thankfully we were seated quickly enough considering we didn't have a booking on a Saturday night. We were placed at the bar, no biggie as I do enjoy watching bartenders make drinks. We started off with the lychee martini, one word to describe it, delicious. For entree we had the prawn taco and ceviche. Both were really good. Would have appreciated to have a slice of lemon or lime on the side for the prawn taco. For main, the beef cheek fajita. It was pretty much build your own. That was also good. A few element was just a bit unusual and I don't think goes with your deconstructed fajita was the creamed corn that we just ate on the side. It was fairly nice on its own though. I was hoping to have dessert but we were too full by the end of it. The wait staff were very friendly. Verdict? Will definitely coming back to try more on their menu.
Amazing. I loved this place. I had the Smoked Guacamole, Soft shell crab and Grilled chicken taco. The service was fantastic. I am really annoyed i forgot her name, but as I’m pretty fussy, she was very helpful and lovely. Soft shell was spicy for me, but delish. I couldn’t have eaten it any other way. The Smoked Gauc i still think about. Haha. We had a few cocktails and instead of the tequila happily changed it to vodka and yes i know we are at a Mexican restaurant. If i had to pick on one thing, it would be that we were all very close. I felt likw the tables around me were watching me eat. Anyway, a hug 5 from me!! Fantastic. I can’t wait to go there again!!
There's a reason why this place won the best Mexican in Adelaide for 2017. Food is delicious but you need to know what to order. We had the prawn and soft shell crab tacos which were delicious. The pork ribs were equally amazing. The angel hair pasta was unfortunately average ...
