Review Melt Pizzeria - Adelaide

El Putra
I went here on Monday public holiday with my 3 friends. We can tell, this is the best pizza we’ve ever tasted! Love the scallops pizza was our top best one, the Prosciutto pizza also unbelievable. Service, they were so busy but still delivered you such a great and friendly service. Thank you for your lovely hospitality 😘👌🏻

Small but very nice place, good food drinks and dessert. Freindly staff
Jason Stewart
Loved it. Friendly and helpful phone service when booking. Nice sitting outside. Food was absolutely delicious. Plentiful wine (drinks) list. Great service - special kudos to the new guy (he told us it was his first day today - wouldn’t have known if he didn’t tell us). We’ll be back for sure… probably many times.

We had lunch, we were 3 couples. The pizzas were the best that we had in Adelaide. The dessert were great. The staff were fantastic very kind with a big welcoming smile. We will be back very soon. Love the experience.
Mark McGuire
Great pizza and very friendly staff. Will be definitely be back..

Good Pizza, lovely wine list & great seating outside. We were looked after by a young man whose service was impeccable. Thankyou for a lovely Saturday lunch.
Steven Kappelos
Delicious food, great atmosphere and service. Well done staff.
Alistair Cornell
Excellent pizza and tapas menu. Vegan options and beautiful food. It's pricey but quality is worth it. Pleasant table service. Booking ahead highly recommended, if not essential.
Foodchick
Really wanted to like it but unfortunately all the pizzas taste like home made pita bread pizzas only not as nice. Toppings are ok only.
The tapas was delicious though.
Asha
Good casual dining venue.... Hands down the best mushroom pizza in Australia !!!! Absolutely love it.. tapas are nice as well... But definitely try the mushroom pizza even if you're into vegetarian food!

We visited Melt on a Sunday evening: one adult and 5 teens.
The service was personable and accommodating throughout our entire evening.
We chose a selection of tapas as well as a couple of pizzas.
All of the food was exceptional: simple, but fresh, hot and brimming with flavor.
The haloumi and pickled onion was a stand out: often tough and overtly salty, Melt got this right: hot and melting and the perfect texture.
Drinks and service was prompt and efficient.
Good food quickly: couldn't fault it!
The vibe on a Sunday evening was social and buzzing - lovely to see an establishment so busy on a Sunday night.

We shared three pizzas and three tapas. Everything was delicious and worth the money. The place looks and feel amazing. The place wasn't loud and the staff were quick and amazing.

Yum! The Turk pizza is amazing, beautiful crispy thin base and a beautiful mix of fresh flavours with lovely pieces of lemon zest to freshen up the amazing taste that mix in perfectly together! All pizza and food coming out looked amazing and full of fresh ingredients!
Magda Nosal
Pros: the ingredients are fresh and of high quality, the staff are friendly and attentive, the menu is diverse and daring.
Cons: my pizza was very hard to eat (prosciutto and rocket on top fell off), prefer more cheese and thicker crust, expensive.
I will be back but I might create my own taste.

Love this Hyde Park icon.

Been many times.

Don't go if you want to either lounge or be comfortable. The stools are hard and it's kinda a in and out type of joint.

But the pizza is perfect. And the wine list is good.

Better than Antica up the road.

We had a group of ten. It was a busy night but you expect a restaurant to be busy on Saturday. We pre booked with a set menu. Many of our table were never asked if they wanted a drink. After the entree came 6 pizza's arrived between 10 (at $40/head) after a wait of 1 hr and 15 mins. The waiter made no attempt to communicate they were having a problem or apologize. Then there was another hour wait for dessert. They ran out of wine glasses so when we ordered a bottle of wine with four glass, each glass was bought to the table at 2-5 in minute intervals. It felt like a faulty towers episode.

The Turk pizza at Melt is an al-time-favourite. I’m not normally a big fan of lamb, like I avoid it as I would brussels sprouts, but the combo of lamb, pine nuts, pomegranate, yoghurt, mint and sumac works. It works as well as chocolate melted over popcorn. On a recent drive back to Adelaide, I refused to get Tailem Bend Subway for dinner, instead holding out the 200 kilometres for a late-night Turk pizza. By the time I got to King William Road, I was a crazed lady snatching at the pizza box, Usain Bolting out the door and sinking into the footpath to devour the first oh my gawd piece.
Krishna Brannigan
Lovely food and atmosphere but they kept taking the menus away ! Beautiful brisket and slaw, scallops pizza and delicious hummus, haloumi with crisp olive oil bread. Passion fruit mojito was great too. $106 for 3 with drinks
Ayumi Suzuki
AMAZING pizza and tapas!! Been here so many times (both Hyde Park and city) and never get sick of their food!! Just delicious!! I highly recommend ALL their pizzas especially funghi pizza and El Diablo pizza :)
Wig Pitz
Not enough vegan options, the staff were very helpful but hard to understand. Just come here because Hyde park is classy but were the hell are the table clothes melt??
The sangria was lit and the potato pizza and baked gnocchi were fire, but really don't want to pay $230 for pizza and three glasses of pino Grigio. In conclusion, probably will come here again... When I meet my sugar daddy.
The Munchkin
Decent pizzas. Would recommend the pepperoni pizza. Full of meat and the base was crispy and light. The calzone was excellent . Great combination of duck and cherries
Jma
Great pizzas and tapas! I'm a fan of the funghi, brocolini, scacce pizzas and the white anchovies, haloumi and potato tapas dishes. The dessert pizzas are good too if you're out for some carb loading. Can get a little noisy at times.
BJ
The best pizza and tapas in Adelaide! Very cool funky venue and delicious flavours. They've had the same menu for a few years, but why change when you're onto a good thing? The beans & the eggplant dip - yum... And the lamb pizza & choc dessert pizza are delish!! Must book - always very busy.
Thefaeriecupcake
It was a really pleasant experience at Melt tonight. We tried the funghi, scacce (duck calzone) and the dessert pizza with chocolate and pistachios. It was a very pleasant experience and the staff were extremely nice and friendly. We were seated at a table where the evening sun light catches the table, and they lowered the blinds for us :) would definitely return.
Jp Drake
There is no doubt that the pizzas here are some of the best pizzas in the world. All pizzas are fantastic and feel light on the stomach. The his is my favourite pizza, I highly recommend the fungi, pepperoni and you can't go past the dessert pizzas.
Kat
Look, I used to love this place. The food is good: the pizzas are generally great (can be a tad oily), tapas great but expensive for what you get. More to the point, the vibe? They don't care. There's no sense of warm about the place and we were left with a bad taste in our mouth after our bill was placed on the table without us asking. Spent $150 and sent out the door. It's a shame really because good service goes along way and something small like that could prevent me from going back. I'll find somewhere else to spend money on pizza.
The Tasty Press
Melt has been a popular go-to for pizza and tapas, both in ideal locations – in the CBD neighbouring Press* food & wine, and on King William road in Hyde Park, beside The Pot Food and Wine. All of which are very dear to me and have served up incredibly satisfying food time and time again. The Melt Share Table menu, I’ve had once before and I have to say they’ve pulled it off seamlessly both times.
Caitlin.nicolle
Caitlin nicolle. We had lunch there yesterday (31st) May - very disappointing. Pizza was tasteless with bland sauces. Chairs backless and very uncomfortable.
Extremely over rated.
Lushlighting
Yummy lunch thank tou. We are just finishing the most amazing lunch. We shared the Gnocchi, the Hummus and Lamb, the Haloumi and the marinated Salmon! Just divine. Couldn't tell you which was better. Loved it all. Service was extra special. Very professional, very friendly. Just like home. Got to go. Citrus dessert Pizza just arrived! Xx
KC
Love it. Great vibe in this little restaurant on a cold winter night. Quick friedly service. Pizza delicious and wine by the glass good. Will be back for more of the tapas which sounded wonderful.
Danielle
Overpriced very little topping or cheese on pizzas it was like eating dry bread - tasted ok but should be more generous with the ingredients
Steve
Very very ordinary pizzas today. Dry, base not light and crispy, flavour lacking. Not good enough
Tom1969
Great food once again - thank you Melt. Been coming here for ages. Never been let down. Food especially good today. Squid salad was fantastic - just the right amount of crunch and heat.
Beachbabe82
Quite possibly the best pizza I have ever had!. Melt has quality gourmet food & quality service! The Broccolini pizza is possibly the best pizza I have ever had. I get gluten free pizzas & this is the best gluten free pizza base I have ever had as well. They make their pizza bases themselves & it definately shows. Absolutely amazing pizzas & outstanding service. Thank you!
Kathrynhollister1974
Tasty Pizza. We love the pizza in this place. We don't eat pizza often, but when we do we usually come here and enjoy the pizza and wine. Another wonderful little eatery in the heart of HYDE PARK. Do recommend and we will be back again. Kathryn H

Consistently good. I have eaten here three times now, always with great service and fantastic food. An absolute must try is the Albondigas pizza - simply sensational and my reason for going back!
Styleandtravel -
Decided to take friends from New York visiting us. After eating here numerous times, suggested to eat here. Although the food was good, servings weren't enough for the $39 p/head price tag. 5 tapas, 2 pizzas, one small salad and 1 dessert pizza for four people? You get one dessert pizza for 2 so why 1 for 4 people? They were also very hesitant giving extra pita bread and parmesan cheese. Oh well...:(
Sarmstrong
Dont like it - Don't waste your $$$. Sat. 27 Sept 2014 - We had high expectations of their pizza, however were very disappointed. Pizza's had gluten free bases & were overcooked & was that tough to cut through with a knife that we gave up & had to pick the pieces up & eat with our hands. It was extremely chewy & both pizzas (prawn & Margherita ones) had very little topping, it was like eating a biscuit. They were very expensive & with 1 glass of wine at $10.00 a glass, all came to $65.00. Total rip-off. I could have made a better pizza at home. Tables r just about on top of one another also. Will not be back. Save your $$$, there r much better places around for pizza & not so pricey.
Moustache
8/10 overall, 7.5/10 for the pizzas.. Pizzas were "nice" (better than "fine" not as good as "excellent"); pastry was very thin and very crispy, ingredients taste like they are good quality, but they are certainly not loaded onto the pizza. Out of 5 pizzas only 1 was considered not so good (the "Bianca" which didn't seem to have any cheese on it so was basically garlic bread), but the rest were nice. Some tapas items were shared, which imho, were better than the pizzas.

The chocolate and pistachio dessert pizza was also enjoyable. Cocktails were excellent. Really busy on a Friday night, so make a booking to avoid disappointment. Servers were being slammed so considering that, they did very well asking about drink refills etc.

Would go back, to try the other tapas, cocktails and other dessert pizza.
Juno
Always good. I have had lunch at Melt a couple of times recently. So nice, and so unusual for Adelaide restaurants, to have a choice of interesting, tasty, modern non-meat/fish food. Love it. Recommended for vegetarians.

First time going to melt last night! After reading all the positive reviews.. We were very disappointed.. We ordered the bianca, was very dry with very little mozzarella. For what it was, definitely overpriced, could have so easily been made better and worth the money. We also ordered the Turk pizza, expected pieces of lamb.. But it was lamb mince on a pizza! Nothing special at all, tasted like a bolognaise meat sauce. Very disappointed and overpriced, will not be returning anytime soon. On a positive note though the haloumi was the best we have ever had! That was the highlight of our night!
What's Cooking Good Looking
Love love love their pizzas. Great wine choices too
Melissa_angel_baulderstone
Brilliant service. The staff here understand what is important to diners , service and hospitality. Thank you for a wonderful experience, I will keep coming back :)

Fantastic. Went on Saturday night as a family of 4 for my daughter's 14th birthday. The restaurant was filled with large groups & was really loud. We were served by a young woman who was happy, smiling & attentive....everything we could ask for. We had a mix of both tapas & pizzas. The tapas were all yummy except the haloumi dish was too small & the green beans too salty. The pizzas were fantastic, particularly the scallop pizza. Had an expensive bottle of wine which was superb. A great evening & we will definitely return.
Anon
Amazing thin crust pizzas. Love the gourmet pizza flavors.
The Toothpick
Melting Moments. I've eaten at this Melt a few times and always enjoyed it. Mrs Toothpick & I enjoy "The 160" pizza and usually just order off the great tapas menu. Staff have always been attentive and friendly enough. A great place whether it is just for two or a small group.

Back again for lovelly pizza. We are regulars on King William Road eatery precinct and love the pizza here. Do recommend again

-----24 May, 2014-----

Great Pizza. Lovely pizza with fresh toppings & ingredients and it is thin & non greasy or oily...yummmmmmmmy... There is so many variations that we have fell in love with pizza again. Would recommend

Not bad, nothing super amazing. Give the potato pizza a miss

Had a good meal at Melt tonight. The Haloumi tapas and Spanish meatball pizza were especially good. Experience was marred by a waitress showing more attention towards my friend (male) on our table who was sitting beside his girlfriend. It made the partner feel uncomfortable and was very inappropriate behaviour.
KL
Went to Melt tonight with my boyfriend & some friends and really enjoyed the food. The only thing that ruined our experience was the American waitress who relentlessly hit on my boyfriend, which made all of us on the table feel uncomfortable. To the point where she very obviously only topped up his drinks. If it weren't got her, I would have enjoyed the restaurant.
Elysia Ang
Tapas thumbs up!. Had the "BBQ beef and slaw" tapas and it was AMAZING!! must try.
Chris Blyth
Perhaps the best pizza I've had in Australia. Great formula - bar - tapas - casual.
Jrasiah
Great food but a bit to crowded. Great tapas! loved the blood orange margaritas. Atmosphere was buzzing and pleasant but a seating configuration was bit too squeeze. Desserts are good if you like pizza, if not move on to some where else on King William Rd.
FoodComa
Loved the mushroom pizza L.... Loved the mushroom pizza
Loved the chilli oil
Loved the wine
Loved the atmosphere
Can't wait to return for tapas and try the dessert pizza
Of Sporks And Knapsacks
Went here in 2013 with a couple of Spanish friends. We had the set meal. It was heaps! But was definitely good value if you want to try different things and you can't be bothered choosing. More importantly food tasted fantastic. We got to choose the pizza that we wanted. For a bigger group, I reckon you can probably try all the flavors. No complaints about the service. The restaurant is tiny though. I would definitely come back to try the other pizza flavors. Maybe not so much the set menu.... I think the first time was too good. :)
Aaron
Had my first Melt experience on Sunday. Food was awesome. Service was also great. Love the interior and casual feel of the place. Will definitely be back.

Delicious, Broccolini pizza is a must try!
The Ugly Truth
Sensational. I have been enjoying melts pizzas and tapas for many years now and I have taken countless friends and family to the hyde Park store. I just want to say to everyone reading this you can't go wrong with melt it's class and its simply amazing the pizza is to die for the tapas are out of this world I cant get enough of this place

Tasty tapas. Melt served both one of the best and one of the most overpriced meals I've had in Adelaide. The food was delicious and well-prepared, but for most people the cost relegates it to a once in a while treat.

The menu is divided into pizzas, tapas, and salads. From the tapas menu, the haloumi ($11) was crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. Pickled red onions balanced the fatty cheese perfectly. However, a serve of two scant slices discouraged sharing.

The fresh salad of spinach, mozzarella, tomato, onion, and basil ($14) was dressed simply with balsamic vinegar and was a wonderful counter to the rich pizzas.

The albondigas pizza ($24) was the star of the meal. Albondigas, or Mexican style meatballs, topped a pie along with cherry tomatoes, chiles, and asagio cheese. Made with pork instead of the traditional beef, the albondigas were savory and flavorful without overwhelming the other ingredients. Melt's yeast-free flatbread dough isn't normally my favorite, as I prefer a chewy, yeasty crust. But the pizza was cooked perfectly and the toppings suited the crust well. Each pizza is perfect as a main for one person or an entree for two.

Melt knows what it wants to be and knows how to be it. The convivial atmosphere matches the food, which is perfect for grazing. If you can't snag a table for one of the two nightly seatings, try to sit at the kitchen bar and watch the cooks prepare your food right in front of you.

The food was uniformly excellent and does not disappoint, but a bit exxy. If you can put that aside and simply enjoy a wonderful meal, Melt is a fine choice.

Great service and amazing food. Broccoli pizza was so good!
Rick
Slow service. Food was nothing to write home about. Pizzas were good but over priced. You can get far better tapas at other restaurants in Adelaide
Fussy But Fair
Great staff, Great Pizza. As above - great staff make all the difference. Awesome food, cool environment - the only thing I would love is backrests on the seating as it gets a bit uncomfortable on stools. Awesome all round and they're great fun when you go with a big group of people :)
Cheryl
Beware their stupid policy about forcing groups of more than 8 to order from a fixed price menu that isnt worth the money because it forces you to eat their not very good tapas.
Jo Little
Consistently great. Melt is such a great little Pizza & Tapas bar. A gem on King Willy road.
Been there so many times, Pizzas are amazing, service is always cracking & the venue has a great buzz about it. You can't go wrong at this place- Good work !
Annie
Tasty pizzas with traditional and non traditional toppings available. If in a large group the shared option $37 pp is a good way to try a variety of pizza and tapas. Bookings a must. Also as its quite dark in there, flashlight is a good idea to read the menu!!
Emily Sun
Posh Pizzas done right :). I have long been a regular to the Melt for quite a few years and have never been disappointed. I always enjoy their ambiance and very friendly services, sitting at the table or at the bar (to be honest, I actually prefer sitting at the bar!)
I am not a massive Tapas fan so can't really say too much about their tapas but I know my pizzas and there are very few places that can rival this lot when it comes to posh pizzas. Over the years, my favourite ones would have to be their Margarita, the Jamon and the Funghi (I only tried this for the first time last night and lord, I wished I knew to order this earlier!).

The Margarita is by far the best Margarita I have had, pizza base thin like crispbread (so sorry if you are a doughy-pizza-base sort of person...), they show good restraint with the cheese and let the tomatoes do all the talking for the pizza, just a slight amount of ricotta and a handful of freshly shaved parmesan...every bite is a bliss! (I think this might be the reason why I always have trouble trying new pizza at the Melt because their Margarita is just so damn amazing!)

The Jamon is also one of my top picks, the classic combo of prosciutto and rocket. Once again, the light and thin pizza base lets the fresh ingredients on the pizza speak for themselves...one advice though, if you're getting takeaways, maybe give the Jamon is miss. It still tastes good from a takeaway box and doesn't quite do it justice.

The Funghi...where do i even start?!?! Every mouthful was an explosion of mushroom flavour so for mushroom addicts like me, it was orgasmic. My friend described it as "like a mushroom and truffle risotto, only better..." With the mushroom, porcini and truffle oil, the pizza has officially taken over the Margarita to be my favourite. I also found adding an egg to the pizza a very clever twist (I did think I might taste odd when I saw it on the menu but it just complimented the rest of the ingredients in the most perfect way).

Ten thumbs up, if only i have got ten thumbs!
Q
Best pizzas in Adelaide. Period! Absolutey delicious and unique pizzas which usually come with a very well matched baked & fresh ingredients. Think baked mushrooms with fresh watercress. My absolute favourite (which is odd as i'm usually s carnivore) is the brocollini. They do pretty good tapas as well although unfortunately the place is abit small and is usally packed full at night. Service is always been good with attentive staff. Absolutely love it!
Nick Pogas
Just ambient! Amazing food. Delicious wine. Service without fault. One of the best in Adelaide!
Coffee Hunter
Very nice set up and top quality food. Loved the tapas and pizza, not for the bargain hunters but worth every cent in my books!
Jenny
Ordered a pizza minus the chilli, waitress wrote it down, pizza came out with chilli on it? righto, didnt think that would of been a hard task...also overpriced for just pizza.
Nick Pogas
Fantastic!. Been to Melt on King William and CBD a fair amount of times. Fantastic service. Very attentive and friendly. Food was spot on perfect. Both the pizza and tapas are always great. Love the pumping atmosphere on King William. Cant go past the Prawn pizza with a bottle of house sangiovse.
Picky Pair
We went here for a relaxed lunch and had a great time. Their gluten free pizzas are a real draw card for me. They're delicious! The service is good as well which is why we keep going back.
Lawrence Guan Teoh
Consistently good. This visit to Melt was to further sample their range of tapas. I can definitely say that we were clearly satisfied with the visual appeal and tastes of the dishes we had. The flavours were fresh, complementary and fresh. Prices were reasonable.
Certainly, the place is narrow, a bit cramped..(we sat at the bar)..but it all adds to the atmosphere rather than detract from it.
The service staff were prompt, friendly and, noticeably, our glasses were continually topped up with water...a small thing, no doubt, but a nice touch, nonetheless that added to the occasion. Pleasant banter with staff and the manager also made it an enjoyable evening. Well worth the visit
James
World Record Bad Service. I went with my three sons for a casual meal on a Thursday night having booked two days before. We were meet by an offensive little acolyte who firstly told us we were booked next door at the Pot, then when we confirmed we booked at Melt, he told us we must be booked in the city, the he had us SAT DOWN AT A TABLE, then came back gleefully to say we had booked in the city (same name to restaurant) then we were asked to leave. Clearly this man is a power crazed little jerk who because he works momentarily at a fashionable place thinks he can treat anyone like dirt, WHY GO TO THIS PLACE FOR SUCH TREATMENT - THEY HAD BETTER HOSPITALITY AT DACHAU!!
Anthony
Most cafes I've been to in Adelaide do similar pizzas to these guys. Nothing special at all. Veeery slow service.
Visiting over 100 tapas bars around the world this place is not even close to the experiences I've had.

-----01 Sep, 2012-----

After hearing to many good reviews about this place..... Seriously, it's overrated. Pizzas are just like any fancy pizzas you could get anywhere. No flavor in the base or especially in the sauce which lacks salt and flavor. Sauce straight out of a tin is what it taste like. Not even wood oven which is upsetting. Definitely not "authentic". Over priced as well. Coffee was the only good thing.
Buona Compagnia
Dinner Time!!. Funky setup with attentive and relaxed staff, food was great, had a blast. As you would expect from these guys!!
Marky Mark
Sensational. Went with a large group of friends and we were looked after really well. A great range of delicious tapas and pizzas. Good wine list and decent beers. Can get a bit hectic at times but the food is worth it.
Grant
I Enjoy this place. I've eaten here probably a half dozen times this year, both solo and with friends or family. The food is great - both the Tapas and the Pizza's. Service has always been friendly although at times rushed as they can get very busy.

Good wine list too - with plenty by the glass.
Kris Gomez
Melt just Melted....... This used to be one of my favourite tapas places especially when they served duck liver. My partner and I loves ordering the garfish but recently that love turns to disappointment. They have plated a garfish dish which only had tiny strips of garfish which is enveloped in a blob of deep fried batter.I remember this dish full of fish when you cut it in half. Very disappointing. It reminds of the time 4 months ago when we ordered a plate of veggie fritters and they gave us veggie fritters minus the veggies, if you know what I mean. I hate when awesome places like this that use to serve up good quality food turn into a place mainly driven by profit. Sad.
Lisa
Delicious. I never expect too much from a pizza place but this was AMAZING! Will be going back for sure, potato pizza and the salad were divine.
James S
If youre desperate to have pizza AND tapas in the same place, then by all means go to melt. However if one or the other is fine then there are other (note: better and/or cheaper options).
Samuel Giles
Chic....and oh so delicious!. Dined here last night with some old school friends, it was a wonderful night. Let me start by saying, the interior of this place is superb.....stylish, modern, comfortable! Reminded me of my trip to Europe last year. And the Pizza's were absoluletely delectable.....full of flavour with high quality ingredients, delicious. I ordered the Broccolini pizza (minus the chilli) and it was outstanding. While I'm not normally a fan of dessert pizzas....their Chocolate & pistachio version was very impressive! A huge thank you to all the wonderful staff....the service was second to none! Thanks again for a perfect night!
Lis Be
Awesome food!. We love melt! the tapas and pizza are so yummy, great winelist and friendly staff!
Andrew Newsham
Could be a lot better. Overall food is ok, however is definitely over priced and lacking in some areas.
Pizzas - I love simple pizzas but these just lacked excitement
Tapas - Loved the polenta and blue cheese plate and also the chorizo dish

If the place had a wood fired pizza oven the place would have much more charm and authenticity
Princess And The Frog
Delicious food but unfriendly staff. I had eaten here once before and was impressed with the food (mostly the duck calzone) but upon booking a group was told we would have to do a shared table with a min spend of $40 something per head. Tried to explain that some customers in the party are on limited funds and promised that we would still all buy a meal but they refused to budge on this policy. Unusual move for a weeknight booking and head waiter hung up on me when I said we would have to cancel. Apparently they are so concerned that people will buy only a few pizzas to share that they are willing to forego a large group booking on a quiet night. In summary, the poor service I received means I will not return nor recommend this restaurant to others...
Rachael
Fantastic food, enthusiastic and welcoming service, great atmosphere, and great value for money with the generous servings and top notch food. Will definitely be back!
Jadelovesfood
Had better. The chairs are uncomfortable and the service poor, but if your willing to look past that then the food is delicious!

Perfection Pizza, Tantalizing Tapas. In a precinct of high class restaurants and Cafe's in fashionable Hyde Park. The Melt Pizzeria, Tapas, Wine and Desserts Restaurant, have set the standard. For an on the go generation of professionals, who know their food, this is the place, constantly popular. The comprehensive bar selection and comfortable bar stools, makes drinks-only another option. Great vibe and ambience. The anchovies tapas were splendid and their most popular prawn pizza was divine, (recommended) From the moment we walked in, the service was very welcoming, friendly and professional. Bookings would be well advised, especially weekends.
Mark Neumann
I have frequented Melt many time over the last 5 or so years and it my favorite lunch spot. Whether it be with business associates, friends or the kids. It's always spot on. Very rarely get past the tapas and onto the pizza. The food always rates > 8/10. A very good variety on wines by the glass also. Highly recommended.
Austin's
A very cool tapas bar hidden amongst a meld of CBD type buildings. Everything from the 'interesting' artwork to the the laid back music draws you in for more. The pizzas that were sampled were cooked well and were adorned with fresh toppings. The roasted duck melted in your mouth and was quite sublime with the accompanying sauce. The espresso martini was executed with precision utilizing orange peel to give a subtle Jaffa flavour. This is a great place to hang out with a few friends and enjoy some good music, food and drink. Food 7/10 service 7/10 decor 7.5/10
Adamlovesfood
Absolutely loved it. We had a pizza and a few tapas dishes. The pizza base was perfect, nice and thin. The tapas were a great combination of flavours w quality fresh ingredients, highly recommended.

"... keep your money and don't come back" choice words from the owner of this restaurant and words I have never had directed at myself from any restaurant, cafe or anywhere. My partner and I sat down, having traveled 80 kilometers to sample this restaurant with quality reviews on Urbanspoon. Ordering 5 tapas with the intention of seeing where it went and perhaps finishing with one of their infamous pizzas. We arrived at the 3rd plate of tapas and then waited 30 minutes. No 4th plate. In Melt's defense, the place was packed and the 3 plates of tapas we ate, were nice but the only problem to this point was the timing between plates ... until we had the displeasure of engaging with the tempremental owner. After the first vitriolic tirade at the bar accompanied by the predictable "it's just coming out now", the owner didn't stop there! He followed me out his front door and gave me round two which included running down all the other restaurants in the area. Getting back to the "keep your money and don't come back"? Sir ... you have guaranteed it! The fact that you have a pumping little restaurant in the heart of a distinguished and informed restaurant crowd, is a testament to the skills of your staff and not yours. Timing between courses can be difficult. Especially with a tapas bar. This can be excused. Not listening to your customers issues and returning abusive comments and acting with an intimidating demeanor? This cannot be excused.

Best pizza I've eaten in SA!. Absolutely delicious! The addition of grated fresh fennel was magic, a perfect green flavour to cut through the cheese and anchovies and add extra crunch.

The wine list was well complied and interesting, with so many wonderful sounding Italian wines that we drank by the glass as opposed to committing to a bottle.

A definite favourite - when we can get a weekend booking!

Undecided. I have been here several times in the last year or so. This time was not so great. The tapas was brilliant. Gnocci, green beans, polenta, and mussels all stunning. The pizza was not good. The scallop pizza needed seasoning and a good lash of lemon or such to lift a pleasant but neutral flavor. The mushroom pizza was supposed to feature porcini mushroom but I could not see or taste anything resembling porcini - button mushroom ragout at best, Again this needed significant seasoning. However my greatest issue this time was with the service - the girls were friendly enough (all three that popped past), however it took 3 requests to receive sparkling water. Our pizzas were forgotten. We sat and waited as the table next to us received theirs (our tapas was cleared before theirs). Eventually the more experienced waiter twigged looked shocked half way to our table, doubled back to the kitchen and got them underway. I was watching for the staff to appologise or offer an explanation, but no just left hanging for almost 45minutes or so. The owner was there on our arrival, but left the floor during our meal. As soon as he left the staff dropped the ball. A shame as it is such a smart operation.

Great Pizza. This place is pretty cool, whether you want a meal or just a casual drink @ the bar. We had pizza, this was awesome! really enjoyed our night.

Nice spot. The Good:
The first 3 Tapas on the menu
The Bad:
Last 3 Tapas we had.
Waiter more interested in messing around with his mate the chef

We had a great time here recently. Great service incredible pizza, friendly knowledgable staff and great atmosphere. It is a bit noisy which is a plus unless of course you're looking for an intimate setting.

Amazing pizza! Don't go there for an intimate quiet meal, go there for atmosphere, wines, food etc. Love the set menu, great deal! Will go back again and again!

A time limit. Wow what a great place. Well the pizza's are good if you do take away. But who heard of a restaurant with a time limit. We were there with 5 people, the tab was over $400, when we went to order dessert we were told we have to clear our table in five minutes and that they wont be able to get our dessert to us in that time. Oh so lets see paying customers, big tab, but you have to leave. Well we left and wont come back

Don’t expect super supreme and stuffed crust pizzas here. Melt specialise in thin crusted gourmet pizzas using innovative ingredients such as truffle oil, provolone and pomegranate. Pizza lovers – you won’t be disappointed here.

or Mother’s Day they had a set menu on the go which included a selection of tapas and pizzas of your choosing . The generous variety of tapas we received were all dynamite. The hummus, haloumi, and green beans got my vote for the ‘top tapas’ title.
