Review Wah Hing - Adelaide

This place is for fancy dining, was fully packed during Friday night, the attendants were helpful but the service was really slow. We got our food after an hour we placed the order. We ordered: Shallot Pancakes- crispy and delicious indeed! Sichuan hot and sour duck- Warm and delectable. The chunks of tofu were really soft but not crumbling in mouth, the texture was kept intact. The slight sourness and black pepper kept the soup mild and citrusy. Sichuan hot and sour seafood- It was amazing just like the other counterpart. Wok tosses chicken and cashewnut- Tossed with hearty veggies, this dish was dainty and luscious. The chicken was cooked well and the veggies were crisp enough to get that chew. No complains about food but the service was a let down!

Brilliant Cantonese Chinese food. Great value to boot. Go for the Dry Chilli Chicken, Sizzling Pepper Kangaroo and Tea-smoked duck. Can't really go wrong with the other dishes either. Be sure to dine in though!

We have been here a few times for lunch. The food here is so so, but the lone lunch waitress is not your lovely warm and welcoming type. Their signature dishes are the ngau lam keen (stewed beef noodles) and char kuay teow. Not too bad but if you are into Malaysian food, go to Little Chilli Padi which is far, far superior both for food and service.

One of the best Chinese restaurant in Adelaide. Authentic Chinese flavours with a modern twist. Nice atmosphere, professional staff and good quality food. Nice menus for drinks and food with variety of choices. We tried pork, chicken and beef options plus spring rolls.

Love the fried rice and noodle in this restaurant. Authentic southern China style food, some of our dishes were finished so quickly and we forgot to take photos. The fried noodle is well seasoned without overwhelming. There is no excess oil on the plate, but the noodle remains tender. I also love the pepper pan fried chicken fillet (I can't remember the correct name). The chicken is soft and the chicken skin is just melted into the chicken fillet.

Wah Hing is a really good Chinese restaurant. Peking duck: the skin was really crispy, and the meat was tender. Maybe not enough pancakes. One of the better Peking ducks here in Adelaide! The duck soup was nice, and the duck fried rice was tasty. Taro duck: yes we had 2 ducks in one meal - this was super delicious!! Pei pow tofu: nice crispy outside and very tasty filling. Great sauce too. Golden mushroom with seasonal vegetables: nice Enoki mushrooms with Bok Choy. Pork rib with sweet sauce: kind of like sweet and sour pork but with pork ribs. Tender pork and tasty sauce.

After 10 years of coming here I can safely say it's one of my all time favourites. Each dish is amazing, the staff know their stuff when you need a hand with the menu and they're all about service. Always a good meal at Wah Hing!

Menu isn't as big as it was and the prices have increased. The lunchtime menu variety isn't huge. Went here today, I had the Wah Hing special fried rice, it was nice & fresh, with a pleasant hint of chilli, I should've asked for more chilli, the entree of spring onion pancakes were devine.

This is an amazing restaurant with great service and great food. I had the spicy fried Kway Teow and Picked cabbage and duck noodle soup. I would highly recommend this to friends and will be coming back here again soon.

Hands down the very best Chinese food in Adelaide...highly recommend

Delicious food, great prices, nice atmosphere and great service. My second time here did not disappoint - will come back again!

Fantastic stuff on Sunday night. Luv you guys. Beef satay was, how can one say, off the planet. Something so simple, and so spicy and delicious. The wine. Excellent choice. Mains were scrumptious. Beef and then the squid. The beans, garlic and chilli. Or as we say, BG and C. All fresh and yummy

Great food and service, I had the Peking Duck and Special Fried Rice, my partner had Sweet and Sour Pork. We both enjoyed the meal.

Modern Chinese food which was excellent. The highlight for me was the Spicy Kway Teow. If you like a lot of heat to your food the Chilli Cashew Chicken is a must. Friendly and welcoming service. I can’t wait for my next visit! #chinesefood #adelaidefood #kwayteow

Chinese is my favourite and this is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Adelaide. I have eaten at Wah hing since it opened about 20 years ago. They have the best hot and sour soup in the world. I also like the pan fried chicken and prawn balls, but all the dishes I have had are excellent. My friend and his wife from the San Francisco bay area had dinner at Wah Hing and said it was one of the best Chinese they have had.

Service 4/5
Food 2.5/5
Ambience 4/5

Was not too impressed first restaurant in Adelaide menu looked alright with a sleek modern feel inside. Ordered 3 dishes, one was recommended the chicken chilli, ginger dish. This is not a Chinese fish more like fusion of some sort. Would not order again. Other two dishes fried combination noodle and hot pot were forgettable.

Wouldn’t come here again.
Consistency is a bit off but it’s good when they get it right. The main waitress (owner) is lovely and accomodating of any dietary requirements. Worth a visit.

Five boys looking for a Chinese gastronomic experience for a Friday lunch. Sue was a delight & looked after us very well. The food was great, along with the service. We will be back.

Always, always good to eat here. The fact that you don't leave this restaurant with a raging msg thirst is evidence of a kitchen with integrity. Wah Hing is a well kept secret for those who know their Cantonese food!

Great find in the city itself.

Simple minimalist decor and great service.

We ate the pie pow tofu which was hot and adequately spiced. Very tasty.

The eggplant and mince chicken hot pot was not that great, the eggplant had a jelly like consistency and it was gluggy. 2 stars at the most.

The stir fried beef was delicious and to die for. I kept eating even after i was full. 5 stars for sure.

Overall a good experience and great night drinking wine from a good wine selection.

The service was excellent! We ordered seafood hotpot and sang choi bow! Food was fresh and great taste! We did have a lovely experience here

The venue is styled in a sleek and modern design with simple wooden furniture, mirrored walls and industrial light fittings. Traditional Chinese art and calligraphy hang along the walls giving off a serene look and feel. A tall cold glass of beer to accompany my dinner. Soy sauce and fresh chilli. My choice of condiment over the traditional hoisin sauce as I like the saltiness of the soy sauce and heat of chilli.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions since 2008 and have never had a bad meal nor a long wait. I took my Hong Kong friend there and he said it's the best Cantonese food he has had outside of Hong Kong and wishes there was a restaurant like this in Melbourne. Some of my fav dishes are......
Salty fish rice
Special fried rice
Steam rice
Salt n pepper eggplant
Beans with chilli garlic n pork
Whitebait
Soft shell crab
Crispy Peking beef
Satay chicken
Steamed scallops in ginger
Try this place for yourself. I doubt you will be sorry.
Julian
Some dishes were better quality than the alternatives, others were worse, however they were all much more expensive. the first dish took over 90 minutes to appear. 10 of us ordered 13 mains and we're still hungry. Very expensive for what it is
Tommo23
Absolute joke! We ordered the Peking duck. Came out with soft skin so must have been microwaved, they didn't give enough pancakes to finish the meat so I asked for more. To our amazement we were told I had to buy another 12 pancakes for $10 lol, no option to buy 1 or 2!! considering I am paying $65 for the duck they should give me enough friggin Pancakes! Rest of meal was soup and noodles that had no duck at all in either of them so I'm not sure what happened to the rest of the duck but we sure didn't get it. Absolute rip off and I'm not surprised we were one of the 3 tables in the place. AVOID like everyone else seems to be doing.

This place have some of the best Chinese food, service is great and you get your hot food in reasonable timing even if they're busy. Pity, it's a small restaurant and sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable because of how busy it gets.
Carla
I saw an article on Wah Hing in the Qantas magazine and so a group of my friends and I decided to try it out. We were not disappointed at all.

We were forewarned that there would be a wait as it was really busy by the waitress. The wait was worth it. All the dishes we tried were fresh, clean, generous serves and absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and professional without being overbearing. The waitress was fantastic at her job in helping us choose what to order. We loved the wine list and has such a fantastic experience there.

We ordered the salt & pepper eggplant, sang choi bao, canton steak, Wah hing chicken, spicy soya beans, golden mushrooms with veg and salty fish fried rice. Every dish was spot on.

We will definitely be recommending Wah Hing and returning soon. Definitely book if you're planning on going on a busy Friday or Saturday night.

*** 2017 UPDATE ***

We are now regulars here and it is my friends and my favourite Chinese restaurant. The dishes are always full of fresh quality produce.

If you love wine with your food then they have a fantastic wine list. Ask the waitress Susannah whether it be a dish or wine and she will not leave you disappointed.

We've since tried their Peking duck. It's 3 courses set out at DIY pancakes, soup and noodles. The best we've tried in SA. Usually we ask for it to be one course so the entire duck is used for just the pancakes then order extra pancakes.

They have renovated and the place looks greats.

Leave room for the Nutella pancakes!! They are our favourite.

First time visiting and I can be 100% sure I am never returning. Three of us started the night with unfriendly staff that were reluctant to give us a table and frowned at us because we did not make a booking. Following, when we made our drinks order, due to a friend having an upset tummy we decided to go for a cup of hot water for her instead of tap water which we got charged $1.5 for. When I questioned the lady at counter she rudely replied saying it cost them a lot for electricity to put on the kettle. To top it off during the meal we put up our hand to ask for assistant and was clearly ignored at by the staff as he looked at us and turned his head to the other direction. I left the restaurant quite frustrated and annoyed, not because of the charge for hot water as an addition $1.5 to our $90+ bill is not significant. My frustration came from the terrible service, overcharged food and badly presented dishes. If the restaurant was worth it I would gladly pay but clearly to me it was not.

Loveeeeee the Peking duk here!!!! One of the best in Adelaide. Very nice classy atmosphere also. I've tried other dishes and they never disappoint. Definitely recommended!

Would give them half a star if I could. I've never given a good/bad review to any restaurant but this was too disgusting to not say anything. Never coming back!! Worst service ever and so unprofessional!!!! We waiting two hours for JUST duck and soup.. Didn't get the rest of our food, while everyone else was getting all their dishes when we came first and ordered first. They didn't even apologize and they tried to make us pay for the food that didn't even come out. Didn't offer us a discount or any compensation whatsoever. Poorest customer service ever
Meg Cornish
Quite like Wah Hing but inconsistent. Some dishes really good. Waiting time can be overly long especially once mains served. Some waiting staff really good others a bit challenging, sloppy! Will keep going back especially during weekdays when not busy!
Daniel Hartwig
Amazing. Best in Chinatown, every dish perfectly executed. Fish in xo and chilli was amazing, Szechuan kangaroo another highlight. Can we do this all again right now please?
Mathew Hnoudis
Nice food across the board but service left a little to be desired. My wife has al allergy to onion and garlic and this was explicitly detailed. Her dish came out with what looked like "extra" onions and garlic!
Crispy steak was nice, Kung po chicken was also nice but the real star of the meal was the salt and pepper eggplant. I am not a fan of eggplant usually but this was delicious!
Brussels Sprout
This place is serving up a modern version of Chinese that is very impressive. From the entree to all the mains we were surprised by the lightness of the sauces and their subtlety. Shame that staff take their smoke break in the alfresco area at the front otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Wah Hing is one of the highest rated Chinese restaurants in China Town and probably rightly so because it is of a higher quality than a lot of the competition, but you also have to pay for it.

Food:
The dishes here are less oily and MSG based - they are a bit fresher and prepared with a bit more love than the average Chinese restaurant in the area but the prices I think are slightly higher so it's up to you what you're willing to pay for.

Service:
The service is good particularly if you get the waitress we had last weekend. She was blatantly honest with us, helping us order and even telling us that one of the dishes was really sweet in her opinion and helping us decide on something else. I personally value that kind of passion really highly.

Ambience:
If you can score a table outside on Gouger St with some nice weather it's fantastic. The interior is pretty simple but a bit nicer than some of the other places in China Town.

Dish to look out for:
I haven't tried everything obviously, but I thought that the salt and pepper squid was one of the best I've had.
Laura
Salt & pepper everything! So good. The BBC isn't as good as it is in surrounding restaurants but Wah Hing is more formal so is a nice if you want a change from the usual Gouger restaurants.

My favourite go to Chinese. The food is always good and the wine list considered. Tea smoked duck, any hot pot, prawn balls, bbc all amazin plus more.
Danielle.griffin
Five stars. Very good good quality food! Great prompt service!

Good food. This place is awesome as it is often open a little later than other chinese eateries. Sure the prices are just that tad more dearer but that's because the food is amazing and service is good here. I have enjoyed the peking duck, and various chinese stir fried dishes in the past. Very yum!

Too Pricey....... Wanting to visit Wah Hing on my restaurant hit list, I have to say I was a little disappointed. Although everything we had was cooked perfectly and fairly simple in presentation, I found this type of food to be overpriced. There are many other places in Chinatown that would produce similar food for a lot less $$$. Nice flavours, but I think this is definately one of those to be seen Chinese restaurants.
TasteBaker
Miserable portions for the price. We came on a busy Wednesday evening and found the place very understaffed. As we were only 2 people it seemed we were getting smaller portions than the large table next to us. Our 20 buck serve of honey prawns consisted of 8 prawns. Not impressed. Were they running out of food or is this the norm? Other places on gouger offer really generous servings for the same prices. I'll be going to others in the future.

Hot pots. Really good hot pots, and the BBC too

Prior to tonight's meal I thought Wah Hing was a friendly and most importantly for me a GLUTEN FREE friendly restaurant. However, my meal was unfortunately not gluten free and when I informed the owner of the problem she did not offer to apologise and instead repeatedly said that the meal was GF. She was rude, arrogant and refused to listen to what I said. I will not be eating at this place again, nor will I recommend it to anyone, coeliac or other.

Pan Fried Chicken. A signature dish with cracked pepper and delicious sauce.

-----09 Sep, 2014-----

Hot and Sour Soup. Seafood hot and sour soup with delicate flavours

-----09 Sep, 2014-----

Best Chinese restaurant in Adelaide. Chinese is my favourate and I have been to almost every Chinese restaurant in Adelaide and Wah Hing is the best. I have been going their for years and have seen politicians like Mike Rann in there. They have the best Hot and sour soup anywhere in the world. I also like the pan fried chicken, but everything i have tried their is great and it is reasonably priced.
Jason May
The best chinese anywhere. I would have to say that "Simon" is one amazing chef, have been following him for what must be 25 years now. As I travel the world constantly, I always compare chinese food back to Wah Hing and yet to find one better - even the restaurants I managed to eat at in Hong Kong. I have a group of mates that I eat out with, they all had their favourites but now they all agree that Wah Hing is the best. Try to avoid Friday or Sat, is very busy but very quick service other days. If I could afford it, would hire Simon as my private chef. Favourite dishes include won ton soup, dry chili chicken, combination fried noodle, salt and pepper squid, peking beef, soft crab shell, roast duck, tea duck etc etc
Hannah Hannahs
Scallops in XO Sauce and salt and pepper soft shell crab. The only two things to order- the other items on the menu are average at best. Great place for a fast, delicious and very reasonably priced meal.

LOVE!. Love Wah Hing so so much! This is our family go-to restaurant. Food is consistently delicious and despite sometimes service being slow, the salt and pepper squid and tea smoked duck keep us coming back! 5 stars!

Have a go!. Everytime I fly over to adelaide, my sister will always bring me to dine here.cant go pass the water spinach
Decent chinese food, ! with a flair of Aussie touch.

Great location

Food was fresh and clean! We had Salt n pepper squid, slow roasted duck, sizzling garlic prawns, schezwan steak all were delicious! San chow bow was great too. Service was quick, staff friendly, atmosphere buzzing as china town does! A great night!

Decent Chinese. We tried Singapore Noodles and Wonton Soup. The food tastes clean and fresh, although slightly bland. The interior is simple and pleasant. Personally I prefer the junkier food, noise, and grunge of BBQ City across the road.
We copped a surcharge for eating at Wah Hing on a Sunday, $1 per person I believe, which we weren't aware of until we paid.

A long standing pearl in the heart of Adelaide's Chinatown. I have found myself returning to Wah Hing restaurant in the past couple of months for business lunches and dinners. The Wah Hing has a long history and still employs the same chef it has had since the old days when it was in the spot that is currently occupied by the Dumpling King. When I say that I have returned, the only reason that I strayed away was to try other restaurants.

Having the same chef, you are ensured of consistency in meals. Wah Hing is a small casual restaurant. Although not as snobby as some restaurants that try to over posherize themselves without delivering any substance, Wah Hing is a cut above many of the normal Chinatown restaurants and even above its former cafe/eatery of yesteryear. The food here has great flavour, and is not pretentious. It is simple Cantonese cooking at its best in Adelaide. Wah Hing have long been known for their Beef Brisket Hot Pot. Tender pieces of beef from the belly of the cow served in good amount of sauce that includes many exotic spices such as cinnamon bark, star anise, Chinese five spice, soy ginger etc. The Fish fillet in Sweet Corn Sauce is a Cantonese favourite and is done really well here. The sauce has subtle egg and corn flavours and the fish is cooked perfectly in a light batter. A variety of Chinese greens are available, but I can never go past the Chinese Broccoli whenever it in season, stir fried with Garlic sauce, Oyster sauce or XO sauce. Their Won Ton Noodle Soup is another dish famous from the early days and still follows the same recipe. The soup is neither too salty, nor does it leaving you want to drink a bucket of water later during the day. The presentation of the restaurant is fine and the service is quick and reasonably friendly. All in all a great place to have business meals or to go and enjoy a Friday night or Saturday afternoon at the markets.

Will continue to return. The Peking suck pancake is so so good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it
The hot and sour soup is also hard to beat

Wah Hing for Won Ton!. The best won ton noodle soup I've ever eaten. Consistent after eating it on at least 25+ different occasions. Lunch special approx $9-$10.

Very good, Chinese lovers, be sure to check it out at least once!. I've been eating at Wah Hing for about three-odd years now, and though I don't go nearly as often as I used to (due to wanting to broaden my horizons), I still really enjoy my meals there every time I go.

Their salt and pepper squid is one of the best I've had in Adelaide, and their BBC (which is basically beans and tofu fried in a simple sauce) with some steamed rice on the side. Maybe with a cup of green tea in the winter and an iced tea in the summer. For their honey prawns, the prawns are skilfully fried in a crispy batter and the honey sauce never fails to lack in flavour, but its sweetness can get full on (especially when not sharing your mains with family or friends), so be sure to order some vegetables and/or rice on the side to create a balance.

The service is good, and the wait time is great- I've never had them forget any of my orders or deliver them late in the three years I've been going. In conjunction with their good prices and nice range, I recommend Wah Hing to anybody. There is something for anybody, even the pickiest of eaters.
Dylan
Really impressed with the food, the shallot pancakes and the salt and pepper crab were extremely good! Generous serves for a good price, friendly staff and food full of flavour. What more can you ask for, I will definitely go back.
Eve On
Love this place for lunch! Everything on their menu is delicious! I go there all the time and am never disappointed. My favourite lunch dishes are stir fry beef noodles and their cabbage duck noodle soup!

I don’t get tired of eating here or recommending it!. It’s a very simple place. I don’t go for ambiance or an extended fine dining experience. I simply go because of food. Actually, it’s predominantly the sizzling kangaroo and vegetables. But my friends and family have praised the peaking duck and many other meals. The service has always been fast, very efficient and accommodating. It is also very affordable.
I have simply never been disappointed.
I would highly recommend this place for a quick but delicious, good quality meal.

Worst Experience. Booked a table for four at Wah Hing and was surprised to find out we were seated outside without being informed about it on the phone. Not preferred, but no worries. After being seated, we discovered our table was sloping to one side and wonky. I pointed it out to the waitress only to have her shake the table top vigorously and say "yes but..... it's okay, it won't come off". She walked away leaving us flabbergasted. Meanwhile my brother's chopsticks rolled off the table and fell onto the ground. Having to barricade our cutlery from sliding off the table already left a bad taste in our mouths. When the food came out, we were far from impressed. The salt and pepper squid was extremely bland. The 3 course peking duck was expensive and came with.. no duck meat?! The peking duck pancake dish came with just duck skin. Duck noodle and soup had only tiny bits of meat in it. So where did the rest of the duck go exactly? The food we had there was double the price, halved the portion and didn't taste nearly as good as any other decent chinese restaurant.

Nice food, better service then your ave Chinese. Great food, Great wine list, Very busy restaurant, so if your expecting to have a romantic dinner for two, expect to shout out i love you, because it is, well... very busy. To the guy/girl who said, she kept getting yelled at, well you deserve it!!! Stop stealing things from other tables, and just ask a floor staff. I can understand how that would infuriate her. Its very embarrassing for the restaurant to seat new guess on a table, with items missing, it makes them look bad and unprepared. STOP STEALING FROM OTHER TABLES, and just ask for it. I'm sure their not gonna tell you to go fork yourself
Dolce
Grumpy owner. I don't know why I go back. There is a really disgruntled manager lady who always snaps at people, it makes me feel uncomfortable. I understand running a restaurant must be hectic and stressful, but if you can't handle it or do it with a smile, perhaps you should not do it?
Always makes eating there interesting I guess. The guy next to me got a knife and fork from the table next to him and she came over and told him off. The other time I came she yelled at me for moving a candle over. I couldn't see my meal though to be fair. No idea what her problem is.
Topher
Didn't live up to reviews. Ordered the Peking Duck which was disappointing. One guest was trying it for the first time and she couldn't understand what the fuss with dish is. Even though we booked, we still go the message to clear out after 90 mins.
Maximillian
Nice enough. The food here is nice, with a reasonable variety, though nothing on the menu really caught my eye. I do think Wah Hing is overpriced for both the food and dining experience they offer, I'd much rather a more authentic meal at one of the less expensive restaurants on Gouger.
Michelle Smith
YUM. Love the traditional food. Excellent service and good value. I wish there was a restaurant as good as this close to home.
It's a shame I have to travel from Semaphore to get there.

I'll be back!

Golden Balls of Goodness. We walked in early on a Friday night, a waiter asked us if we had reservations, we said no. The waiter almost put us on the street but looked around the room and asked " Do you think you can finish in 30 minutes?" And it was on, we were only looking for something light, so we ordered ordered some Spring Rolls, and an order of Pei Pow Tofu; Golden Balls of Tofu with Prawns and Squid with Oyster Sauce. The spring rolls were excellent, hot well filled with the right mixture of meat and veggies, the dipping sauce was a delicious mildly sweet red pepper/ citrus, with just the right balance of flavors to let the spring rolls come through nicely. The Golden Tofu balls were out of this world. I have not tasted anything like that since I was a child ( family friends from China) crispy on the outside and delicately soft on the inside with an amazing array of subtle flavors of tofu, pork, shrimp, and just a hint of green onion; Absolutely Fantastic! Service was very quick, decor and ambiance are very nice. When I get back to Adelaide this will be my first stop. BTW, we did make it out in 30 minutes. Our waiter was very good too. Thanks Wah Hing! We had a great time.

Nice!. Yeah, pretty good! Took mum here last night b/c the setting is a little "classier" than the more grungy of the Gouger Street Chinese resturaunts (that are not without their charm, but sometimes it's nice to have wine served in nice glasses and not to have harsh fluro lighting giving you a headache while you eat your meal - although that could be the MSG...mmm MSG). Food was fresh tasting, not drenched in sickly sauce and the service was EXCELLENT! Wine and water glasses remained topped up, and did not feel rushed into "power eating" as can sometimes happen in these places, ie, still flayling around with chopsticks, trying to grab the last morsels of salt and pepper squid off a plate that is being carried away by overzealous wait-staff. Seems a popular venue for the raging-vegos amongst us too, and from the 2 vegetable dishes we included (BBC, stir fried beans) I can see why. Soft Shell crab was a real winner. Sh!ts all over Ying Chow, which has become too big for it's boots of late: serving smaller, not as tasty meals for twice the price as back in "the day" (Ahh, "the day", good times, good times). Corkage is more expensive at Wah Hing ($12), but i can forgive that for the overall experience.

Great chinese food. Family favourite restaurant, very hard to fault, quality cantonese cuisine. lunch menu is good and dinner fantastic. we also go for supper
DrPhilGood
A fantastic Cantonese style restaurant that will satisfy your hankering for good hearty Chinese. Menu is expansive from Peking duck (excelent, take the song choi bao and noodles) to REAL spring rolls. PHiL RECOMENDS: Peking duck, Ma Po tofu, Lettuce special fried rice, soybeans and salty fish (unless you hate anchovies)

Tonight, I ordered the Sizzling Sichuan Steak. The meals came out after a 15 minute wait and all meals arrived at the same time. The dish was nicely presented as were all the others.
VegeTARAian Sydney
The salt and pepper eggplant was one of the best I’ve ever had – thick, lightly battered fingers with a good hit of seasoning. The vegetarian fried rice was light and full of crunchy veg including snow peas, celery, cabbage and carrot. Wah Hing on Urbanspoon

Service is prompt and friendly and the ambiance is great. Good for a casual outing with friends. The price is also very reasonable.

Finally, and I thought this was quite funny - friends of mine said, “it’s definitely not first date material, but if I was taken here and it wasn’t going well, I know I could get away pretty quick as the food came out pretty promptly”…note to self!
...whatever they serve up is delicious, and the service is always fantastic no matter how busy it is. I would always visit on previous work and personal trips to Adelaide, and built up a bit of banter with the female manager. After a year of not visiting, i walked in the door 2 weeks ago and was greeted by a huge smile and a “we have

As always, satisfying and delicious but I’m getting kinda bored with Wah Hing. Anyone have recommendations on where else I can get tasty peking duck? Or what other dishes should I order at Wah Hing besides their duck?
Eat And Be Merry Crew
Random conversations with shop assistants can sometimes lead to serendipitous experiences, as happened on a recent trip to Adelaide. Gouger Street is dining central for Adelaide and it’s been more than a few years since our last visit, so in some ways it was a bit surprising to see so many restaurants we remembered. However, the Wah Hing, almost directly opposite the end of Moonta Street in the Chinatown area, is new to us, and came highly recommended from the shop assistant at North Adelaide’s Fabric of Life (a favourite of my better half when indulging her interest in textiles). The décor is simple and modern with clean lines and little fuss. Generously sized square tables comfortably cope with three main courses, a serving bowl of rice and a pot of Chinese tea, without being so large you struggle to enjoy a conversation without yelling at your dining partner. There is a decent gap between tables so that you're not eavesdropping on nearby discussions and even with the restaurant buzz
