This little chocolate shop is my only go to place for the most wonderful chocolate experience. The best in Australia
Wow, thank you for the beautiful chocolates. I try to visit couverture chocolate shops wherever I go and your shop is now a favourite! Your chocolates, hot chocolate, and trio of desserts were all little tastes of heaven.
I really enjoyed the chilli hot chocolate. Four types of chilli! I asked for above medium spice and it was a bit too spicy for me, I will try medium next time. The other spices (cinnamon, cloves etc) add a really nice flavour and balance.
I found the iced chocolate a bit watery but the kids liked it.
Note that the map on Zomato is wrong. The shop is on Rundle St, whereas the map pin is around the corner on Frome St.
Came here to try their fruit de bois hot chocolate, trio of brownie, citrus curd tart and salted caramel tart, as well as the chocolate and nut slice. The desserts were really decadent, and was a tad too rich, but nevertheless still great! The hot choc was on point!
Omg, incredible dessert place.
Their cakes and desserts are just divine! This place is a must try. Love the nuts about chocolate cake!
The hot chocolate is incredible sometimes and average others.
The desserts here are amazing ! I'll just say it.. I am in love with their nutty chocolate cake. I've ordered it three times for my dad's birthday ... Service on the other hand ... Sigh... Two out of the three times they messed up my order ... The first time the name plate (which you pay an extra 5 dollars for) was mispelt despite them having the right name on the paper message attached to the cake. The second time, the plate was cracked in pieces .. both times they refused to remove the plate charges until I spoke to the manager. Even then, there wasn't an apology. Like I said , if only their cakes were not that delicious...
Fantastic food. A little pricey for some but the taste and presentation coupled with the decor and atmosphere made it well worth it for me. Definitely will be coming back again.
So here we are now at steven ter horst chocolatier to have some mood booster before driving around the city. The place was quite at that time after lunch time, we straight away to the counter to order. I had mocha and salted caramel tart, my partner had hot chocolate and caramel dream. I like my salted caramel tart, the pastry crisp like a cookies and the caramel is delicious. By eating this I can skipped my breakfast and lunch. And for the caramel dream desert, geez that was one of the best desert I ever have, it's killa, it really nice. But I didn't like my coffee, for me it taste more acid. I don't know what made it so acid, either cinnamon roast coffee bean or maybe the espresso machine's calibration not on the right set. Overall we're pretty happy and enjoy our desert. And I love how the owner contribute to the community by putting a picture for sell on the wall.
A great little cafe specializing in chocolate goods. The standard hot chocolate comes in quite a small cup upon first encounter, but is the most decadent and rich I have personally tasted, and is actually an appropriate size for this hot chocolate. The other variants like the mint or chilli hot chocolate also taste wonderful, providing subtle undertones that bring out the initial sweetness and darker notes of the hot chocolate. The atmosphere in the cafe is great, my first visit was to seek refuge from the rain, and I do not regret stepping into the cafe. The barista was friendly and patient, making us feel welcome. I would highly recommending trying this place out atleast once, and is a great place for personal outings or with a significant other.
I came here on a quiet Sunday night and we had ice choccy, citrus soda and a trio dessert. The dessert and drinks were amazing, the store has a simple cosy design and the owner is super friendly. Will definitely come back 😊.
My boyfriend works here and he's pretty great so it's pretty great. But no seriously everything in the shop is completely delicious especially the "nuts about" cake!!!
We visited here as part of the Feast On Foot tour. It is located conveniently located on Rundle Street.
When you enter the chocolate and drink shop, your senses are heightened with aroma and sight of the chocolates in the cabinets. They also do drinks as well so our group had a mixture of pieces of chocolate as well as hot chocolates. I had the Hedgehog which was a milk chocolate with hazelnut praline and crepe crumbs. It was absolutely delicious that I returned later to buy some more chocolates! I also had the Hazelnut Praline Hot Chocolate to continue the Hazelnut theme. It was the perfect accompaniment to the chocolate as it was rich but had a great nutty flavour due to the paste in it.
The staff are friendly so do drop by to get some of these amazing chocolates!
Desserts at @steventerhorstchocolatier!
.
Soft serve ice cream: vanilla flavour with honeycomb topping. The texture was more like a sorbet to be honest. Not so creamy. Still nice though!
.
Basque burnt cheesecake: original and chocolate flavours - they're good, but not quite as good as the ones from the actual Basque region. They were creamy, but not gooey and soft enough.
.
Iced chocolate: this one is a classic, and it's always good.
I went here with my sister for a tea and ended up with desserts. The passion that the man behind the counter had with his desserts was awesome, he made me want to try all of them. We had tried 4 of the cakes and every single one, was delicious and looked amazing. The basque cheesecake was really good, it had a texture that i have never experienced, sort of a creamy smooth, melt in the mouth, yummmm.
Chocolate is their signature products. However, the thing we love most in this place is baked cheese cake 😁 The best bake cheese cake in the town. And it is always the cake we order when coming.
We also tried the seasonal cake in the picture. It was so great as well! Love the place and its environment.
Favourite go to spot for a quick chocolate fix. Many hot chocolate flavours to try. Latest craze is the basque cheesecake. Generous serving and its so smooth and creamy. On weekends, they have other special flavours! They also sell other types of gateau. House made ice cream at limited times as well, gotta pop into store to see what's on.
Loving coming to this store which has a rustic vibe with interesting decor. They had a large variety of chocolates and desserts. I ordered a mocha and chocolates and there was nothing to fault. Also, the staff were happy to help and service was fast.
Local chocolatier with small selection of desserts and soft serve. Would recommend coming here for local boutique chocolates. The design of all the products look brilliant and I think would make great gifts and are Insta-worthy ;)
Came to try the dessert cakes, we had the chocolate cloud and chocolate cheesecake. The former was light, soft and had great texture while the flavour of the cheesecake was more intense and complex, though perhaps a tad dry. Prices were decent with the chocolate cheesecake being the most expensive dessert at $10.
While we liked the atmosphere and vibe of the place I personally didn't think the seating was super comfortable...Still, I would come back to give the other products a go :)
Our group went there for desert after having lunch in rundle street. We were very impressed with the variety of chocolates & cakes. The coffee was good as was the hot chocolate. A chocolate lovers dream come true.
Stopped in mid afternoon for a Mocha. When the hospital was around the corner I used to stop more frequently. Definitely try their caramel centred muffins. They are to die for. The mocha today was a dark liquid and probably quite balanced. Not as creamy as some mochas I’ve had. Service was quick and friendly.
