I finally made it back to Phonatic and decided to try their banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake). This was up there with one of the best that I've found in Adelaide. A good amount of tender pork belly and prawns, crispy pancake and the right amount of lettuce leaves to eat it in. I went with the combination pho on the occasion and received a generous amount of tender rare beef, melt in your mouth brisket and springy beef meatballs. If pho is not your thing try their sour soups.

Big fan, been here for the pho and lemongrass bun bowl, both were great, good serving size and fresh ingredients.
Ordered via ubereats and it came pretty quickly. Ordered the quails (entree) and the beef and beefball pho. I was so surprised at how awesome the quail was. For less than $10 you get a whole quail (butterflied) and it was so tasty. The pho was good, generous serving of the meat but was hoping to get rare beef. Mine was just a little too cooked for my liking.
A few hours after landing in Adelaide, we desperately needed something tasty and filling and Phonatic was perfect. Ordered the tofu noodle salad and veg in a ginger and lemongrass sauce. The food was incredibly fresh and packed with flavour. The service was really wonderful. Great dining experience.

Amazing ambience with a beergarden at back.
Server was not able to explain us the dishes and dint come back until we asked for her everytime.
Food was fresh and light on palate.Portion size were perfect.i felt that food lacked flavours and was quite bland.
Phonatic is one of the best restaurant on Hindley. Perfect amalgamation of well sasoned foods along with imbibd Vietnamese cuisine. The place will make you fall in love with the cuisine. The ambience is just to adore for and have really good selection of beverages. The Place is must visit in Adelaide.
Pancake and salt&pep squid very good, the stock of the pho was amazing. Nice ambiance, excellent house and downtempo tunes. Thanks to the male asian wait staff who gave me the name of the artist of the tunes they were playing.
Visited Phonatic for lunch on a Sunday with a group. I ordered the combination rice, which was yum overall, however quite average when compared to other viet restaurants in the city. Would not be coming back though mainly because one persons meal took 40mins to come out and staff just seemed a bit lost. The atmosphere was decent. Definitely room for improvement as this place has potential.
I fell in love with this place upon walking past it and having a quick look inside. Fortunately, the place we were heading for for lunch was full, so we decided to go back to Phonatic instead. If you're a sucker for well-thought out decor like I am (and enjoy Vietnamese food), then I highly recommend this place. The outside section, yet still under cover, is open on the sides and was perfect on the warm, sunny day we went. There's a small walkway along one side which separates the room from the kitchen, so it was cool to be able to watch our meals being prepared.
The only downside is the time it took for our meals to arrive. This was especially concerning considering we were the only patrons there at the time. Not only that, but there was at least a 15 minute wait from when our first dish was served to when the last person received their food (we were only a group of 4). The food was delicious nonetheless and the staff were all very pleasant, so the wait time wasn't a huge issue.
Fantastic every single time. My friend and I go here twice a week as it's next door to Uni, and they have yet to disappoint me! Their bun bowls and pho are the absolute best and I highly recommend everyone trying them! They are also very accomodating to vegetarians or any other dietary requirements. I literally crave this place all week long and look forward to studying as I can reward myself with some delicious pho
Highly recommend this place. Hands down the best food and service in my experience. Food was really good, huge portion, authentic and fantastic flavors. The service was top notch with so much attention to us party of 7 people. One staff accidentally took an unfinished plate as our friend went away for a little while. Honest mistake but they completely gave him a new bowl of the meal. We went back again for their Bahn mi and it was fantastic.
Vietnamese coffee was average not as strong like you expected to get in Vietnam. The Pho and Bun Rieu was pleasant. 2 out of 3 staff that served our table had a very good attitude and was always very friendly except for the grumpy one girl who was quite grouchy when we spoke to her about our food orders that kept us waiting for 30mins after our coffee came. Will return again.
Very tasty phó. I had the beef and the Mrs had chicken. Both very good. Probably a little small for the regular for the price, but pretty cool venue to get a nice atmosphere
Modern and bright setting with more seatings and the back. Meat platter was good, the buns were crispy. Meats were juicy, also came with 4 sauces. Pork belly was tender and had somewhat crispy skin, but wasn't consistent, crispy skin layer was quite thin. Vermicelli salad was good, sauce had a good balance. Combination rice came with the same meats on the platter. Pho was not bad. Bit on the pricey side but this place had good atmosphere.

Nice food! The phonatic pork roll was super tasty. Also lovely service. Great vibe inside and great location. Open later than most, and with reasonable pricing.
We had a lovely Pho and Bun bowl for dinner here, excellent food and service as well as eclectic furnishings.
Very friendly staff, tasty food, the Vietnamese coffee is a must to try.
