Review Biga Cafe - Adelaide

I love this coffee shop for dining in and take aways. I visit regularly with my friends and to just grab a coffee on my day off. My five stars is for the ambiance of the place. The Devore and the most amazing service from the beautiful staff at Biga Cafe. Thanks 🙏🏾 for serving me with excellence. Caroline

Love breakfasts here, staff is superb and menu has a variety of options for sweet, savoury or healthy!! Nice decor and ambience. Cost is reasonable. Highly recommend a visit when in Adelaide.
Jeremy
Great Biga Breakfast that was very generous. Coffee is nice and a really nice corner in the city.

Dec 2020: Loved the dishes served and attentive staff. Food was amazing Dec 2021: Okay, I did not write enough on this shining star of a Cafe in Hutt Street Adelaide. On a Sunday I think they are the only city Cafe open at 0630hrs. Wow. People greet you with a smile, Breakfast is always of high standard, try the Spicy Thai omelette, the Breakast Burger and the excellent quality coffee! Well done Biga Cafe 10 stars if could!
Trent Ritter
Brilliant meals, good price. Great atmosphere and outside dining. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic Coffee, Food. Busy coffee shop with good selection of breakfast / lunch food. Also licensed with small menu of wine or Beer available. The Greatest Staff !!!! Always friendly, quick with food or drink. Inside or covered outside seating (heaters and blankets in winter.) Thanks Danny for making Biga Cafe so good.
matt lynch
Food and coffee ok but let down by forgetting my order, very annoying as others finished their meals well before I got mine (after asking staff where it was). Better smoothie bowls at Argo on the parade.

Absolutely the best breakfast around. Awesome food and service. The juices are so tasty. You need to try it yourself.

Amazing coffee, crispy bacon not dry, mushroom was good, chorizo perfect amount of spice, tasty sour dough, poached eggs were on point, staff were attentive:super friendly even when the place was super busy, if I had to pick one thing little bit more salt on the grilled tomato oh and the seats were sooo comfy we will definitely be back!!! Thank you For having us 😊

Service by the waitress at our table was appalling, she kept on one side of the table and expected us to pass the food/ coffee to one another at the table, when I said to her that as a waitress she should walk around and place the item to the person who ordered, she told me to just pass it on, your waitress had a yellow turbin on her head, she didn’t care, most annoying was the way she learnt over us the customers to place food on the table, and your tiolets weren’t just dirty they were filthy , there was 6 of us at the table, 6 people who will not be referring your establishment to anyone, and when people ask us how was our weekend was? We will talk about the bad service and unclean establishment at Biga Cafe..

Ventured in this morning for coffee and breaky and was extremely satisfied. I had 2 x caramelattes and the smashed avo and couldn’t fault a thing. Add to that the incredibly friendly and professional staff and my Sunday has gotten off to a perfect start. Highly recommend this place and will be back to try the lunch menu one day soon (when it’s less cold)

Gorgeous staff, excellent service, loved my Spiced Chai Latte and sneaky piece of carrot cake. Will definitely return and recommend.

Love this place! - Daniel and Deeb make the BEST COFFEE in town! I visit at least 3-4 times per week and love the staff and the atmosphere. The brekky is also great - especially the Healthy Kickstart!!! I highly recommend for everyone to visit and try a coffee and brekky!

Fancy cafe, caters for lactose and gluten free, lovely friendly service. We had chicken burger and hot chocolate, delicious. Will come again! :)
Amanda Grimm
Amazing food & the best smoothies - especially the Health Hazard! So many wheat / gluten free options love it! Will be back (again & again!) ☺️

So nice to find a city cafe that offers many vegan options with friendly service.

A great place to eat and the coffee would be the best in Adelaide. People are so friendly.
Jeannie Teoh
My favourite cafe , excellent food, great coffee, wonderful staff and so helpful ❤️

Great food loved the place xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxccccccxxxxxxxxxx

Had breakfast here and both meals (pancakes and healthy kickstart), coffees and smoothie were delicious and really good value. Especially loved how the food was presented! Quick service too!

Shared a great sunny afternoon lunch at Biga with my Wife and kids. Highly recommend :) Awesome feed and welcoming, friendly staff. Thank you \m/

Love the amount of vegan options and fab customer service!! The strawberries and cream milkshake + vegan mushroom ragu was amazing ✨✨

The food and service was very good. I had the seasonal smashed avocado. Unfortunately the coffee was luke warm

Excellent staff, food and coffee. A great menu too!

Not too bad. I can't write superlatives about the place but, really, not too bad.

Nice coffee. Yummy food (sweetcorn fritters and Biga breakfast focaccia). Good service on a busy public holiday.

One of the best cafes in Adelaide, in my humble opinion. The menu is extensive and very, very good - they have superb offerings for meaties, veggos, vegans, G/Fers, etc - very happy to modify meals, as required/wanted (great customer service). Service is snappy and friendly. Nice vibe outside. Definitely rate this place - check it.

We ordered fruit loaf from menu with our coffee. After being served coffee we were informed no fruit loaf and suggested a muffin with fruit. These came heated and were absolutely tasteless and very dry. Would not go back again
The Munchkin
Good location at hutt street. Easy street parking. Reasonably priced menu with lots of the poached eggs dishes and avocado and sourdough toast.. Coffee was acceptable. Service was good . But my croissant was a little burnt from being toasted too long. Ortherwise would like to come back and try more of their menu.

A new fave! I used to grab a coffee here on my way into work as they are one of the few cafes that open extremely early. However I recently dined here for brunch and had a hard time selecting what to order as there were so many great options on the menu. I went with the smoothie bowl and it did not disappoint, absolutely beautiful fresh ingredients with stunning presentation. An affordable dining experience in a lovely location.

Finally! A place on Hutt street that serves real breakfast food! The staff I encountered were helpful and professional. The food options cater to all. The menu was reasonably priced and the meal and sides I ordered were tasty, well presented and generously portioned. Good strong coffee and relaxed friendly vibe. With seating options both inside and outside. Dog friendly.

Service was ok, but the food was quite dismal. Ordered the mushroom Ragu with an avacado, it was cold upon arrival and the avacado was dark brown. Thought this was quite poor, and the overall dish was quite flavourless. Overall the menu seemed to over promise & under deliver. Will not be recommending.

Went there for Sunday brunch today and ordered the buttermilk pancakes with flaked almond, passion fruit, strawberries, blueberries, maple syrup and a lemon whipped butter. My partner ordered the chicken burger with avocado and jalapeĂąo aioli. The prices were reasonably cheap and the food came out quick. The chicken burger was pretty tasty, but the meat inside was a little on the thin side especially considering the thickness of the bun. The chips were decent, so overall a pretty solid meal apart from the thickness of the meat.

The pancakes were fluffy and lightly flavored with vanilla. The combination of the fruits and fluffy lemon butter was nice, but I felt it could have done with a touch more butter and maple syrup as I was eating dry pancakes by the last 1/4 of my meal even after using the condiments conservatively.

The cafe was very busy and the wait staff were all friendly. Couldn't fault the food too much, just the quantities of the good bits.

I'll definitely go back again.

This was the best vege breaky Ive had - great mushies, which I love. The coffee was not so good but there are some good coffee places nearby.

Great little cafe, family owned so you know they care about the business. Haven't yet met a place that offers as many alterations to the menu and caters for anyone with any dietary requirement. Really underrated cafe, a must try!

Biga has consistent service. I usually would steer more towards hipster decor and a trendy vibe rather than a seemingly generic cafe. Seemingly family owned with FANTASTIC customer service on my many visits, boasting an all day breakfast which Adelaide seems to lack and the best gluten free toast I've ever come across. I'm not gluten intolerant but this bread blows my mind every time. Reasonably priced, quick service and good servings. I can't fault these guys. They also offer coconut, almond, rice and oat milk and their coffee is spot on. Yes yes yes!

Came here for brekky... Was looking for a cafe that serves big brekky on a public holiday. Fortunately this cafe is open on public holiday. Semi friendly staffs. Coffee was average. The portion of meal is definitely worth the value. Have to say has great chips! The brekky is just like normal everyday bekky. Tasty but nothing that I can pinpoint particularly spectacular. Might be back to try something else.

Please learn how to poach eggs, one of mine was actually hard boiled. Also, I am not convinced your pancakes are made fresh, they tasted exactly like those pikelets you buy in the supermarket and then re-heat at home.
Laura
Great little cafe with a lovely menu full of comfy home-style Italian food. The minestra was served in a jug to then pour into a cob of bread - so heart-warming in winter.
Lucy
Great outdoor area for dining. Good coffee. A nice spot and evidently very popular: great to see a city cafe so packed at weekends!
Foodlover
A favourite for breakfast - unpretentious and consistent quality. I recommend the breakfast burger.
The service is ok but could be a little bit friendlier.
Ella Germein
Hutt St favourite. I come here once or twice a week for lunch & coffee and fail to see why they have such a low rating.
Coffee is always good, as is the selection of other beverages. So many food items on the menu I'd like to try if I wasn't pressed for time on a lunch break. A definite plus about Biga is how really well-priced everything is.
The service is consistently efficient & friendly. I always feel welcome, and I love the zero-snootiness vibe.
Will continue to return as long as I'm a five minute walk away!

Breakfast here this morning. Staff were super friendly, lovely table outside in a bustling cafe. Breakfasts were delicious. We will be back!

Efficient and fast service! Food is well priced and a very good range of choices. Plus breakfast add ons are actually affordable
Phil
Brilliant local, beautiful coffee and great service. Love the breakfast!!!

Breaky time. Their coffe is great and the Biga big breakfast really hit the spot. 10/10

Don't believe everything you read!!!. I get my daily coffee at BIGA ... it's one of the most reliable cafes in Adelaide! Can't understand the low scoring ... the new owners and their staff couldn't be nicer ... always a friendly 'Hi!' and a smile. Food has always been good when we've eaten there and great choice. Give it a try!

BIGA IS A BIGA DISAPPOINTMENT. Went to Biga cafe despite all the bad reviews,Well i should have paid attention to the reviews.Service was terrible waiter attitude was appalling,,made me and my wife very uncomfortable we had to leave.Coffee was very bitter and lukewarm.Never again will i take anyone to BIGA DISAPPOINTEMENT.

Consistently high standard of good coffee, tasty breakfast options and friendly service. For a go-to favorite breakfast option, try their Biga Foccacia. My 82 year old dad thinks this is the most wonderful treat when we take him for breakfast on our way to Central Market.
Andy D
Good coffee and food. However you have to order and pay at the counter. Which means instead of sitting down having a conversation, someone has to line up for 10 minutes in a tight thoroughfare. It also means getting a second coffee is not worth the hassle. Biga cafe would be greatly improved if they had a staff member taking orders from the tables.
Phoebe
My boyfriend and I have come here a few times now, we always have an eggs florentine and Benedict. The prices are cheap and the good has always been nice.
Sue
A first class breakfast with delicious coffe. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt. Outside eating areas are heated in the cooler weather and there are newspapers available to help you unwind whilst enjoying your meal or coffee. Hands down our favourite breakfast spot in Adelaide CBD
Holly.k.denton
Great eggs benedict. My husband and I have eaten breakfast here twice since the change in management, and will continue to visit regularly. The coffee and food are excellent and well priced, and the service fast and friendly.
Simmi_14
Great place for coffee and fresh squeezed oj. I Have recently started going to Biga as I had heard it was under new management.
It is one of the best on Hutt St and they make awesome Burgers for lunch also.

Over priced. There are so many good breakfast cafes in Adelaide, give this one a miss. Mediocre food and service for the price.
Ginny Munro
Disappointing. Hash brown was cooked in old oil. Charged for whole meal bread rather than white. $7 for a pot of tea and they seemed to haggle regarding the milk. Dropped the toast and hash brown and I had finished breakfast by the time fresh one brought out. No butter for toast. Wished I'd checked on here first.
Nondeplume
Yet another disappointment. Seems the majority dislike this cafe, it's not often this happens as Adelaide is but a small place but there is good news, perhaps the new owners will get their act together. When you don't need the money you can be arrogant to your customers so lets hope the new owners are stony broke!!
Peter Klaosen
I am surprised at the low rating. I am a regular and the coffee is always good as are the breakfasts. Friendly service and a good location.
John
This cafe was a favourite. Breakfast there today was extremely sub standard. Toast was not even slightly toasted and breakfast was cold and bland. Very dissapointing.
Kass Nagi
Great service and great coffee. I think they are new owners that have taken over.. Really impressed with the whole experience
Onyx
Great coffee. Good coffee, great food, fast service, best place on hutt st

Yummy Breakfast!. I had the Biga Beans, the serve was very large and the price excellent. The coffee was excellent and served quickly. They were crazy busy after The Colour Run but the staff were hospitable and friendly.

Biga? Biga waste of time.. Thought we'd try Biga despite it's poor reviews... don't make the same mistake! The cafe was not very busy when we arrived however we weren't welcomed by the staff and collected our own menus and sat ourselves down. Decided to order 2 burgers with a side of chips... we were told by the waitress "we're not the kind of cafe that serves chips" So I guess you're the kind of cafe that belittles its customers? When we asked for a skim latte we were told there was no skim milk left... there is an IGA 100m up the road! Go get some!!! Luckily the burgers were tasty and the coffee was ok (probably just because it was full cream). The same waitress was also coughing her lungs up around the counter area and in the kitchen. The staff started packing up the cafe whilst we were still finishing our meals and we left with no thank you or goodbye. I'd expect far better service from a place that is just too good to serve chips. Not impressed. Pick up your game.

Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!. We received the most dreadful service. We were served out of date products, when this was queried I was met with a rude, defensive and argumentative waitress. This was then followed up by being ignored when waiting to re-order. In addition this place is grossly overpriced. There are far better options on Hutt St!! Never again will we be back here.

Good, reliable little cafe. Nothing flash on the menu, but if you're up for a good, cheap breakfast served with a smile, come here.

Service and food were great. One of the first restaurants in Adelaide where we got decent service ! And the breaky is all day - civilized I tell you.
We had a late breaky on a Clipsal Saturday and the service was efficient and food and coffee came out in a timely manner. Coffee was v. good and the big breaky and veggie big breaky did not disappoint. Tasty mushrooms, spinach, nice sourdough toast but poached eggs slightly overcooked. Pancakes were good according to mr. 10 yo.
Betty Sue
Disappointed. I ordered scrambled egg, smoked bacon and cheese with foccacia bread. I got a tepid squashed grilled egg and bacon sandwich. Not good. I won't be back.
Lindsay
Two of us had a late breakfast at Biga last weekend, and the food was good. Thanks chefs. The service, however, is why I won't be back. The restaurant was relatively empty and there didn't seem to be much pressure on the staff. So I'm not sure what reason there could be for the rudeness toward such undemanding and reasonable customers. If you can't be hospitable and bite your tongue at the smart comments you might think, or at the very least offer a skerrick of politeness to the people who walk through the doors, maybe time to get out of the hospitality industry.
RAO
Surprise. It's so pleasant to find a cafe in Hutt St with an excellent menu for a quick bite to eat and the service is friendly and efficient. Try the chicken burgers, yuuuum! We've been over 25 times and haven't ever been disappointed. PS iced coffee mmm
CeraK
Terrible breakfast burrito! Over cooked egg within and an overall taste of burnt even tough nothing appeared burnt...cooked in a dirty pan I would suggest. The coffee was good, but not good enough to repeat visit.
Errica Lim
Coffee was bitter and cold .... Coffee was bitter and cold
Big breakfast came out warm like it was just sitting there...
French toast was extremely chewy and difficult to eat.
Service ? They need to smile more
QFsardine
Went there for bruch today. Coffee was good but seriously undercooked bacon and the toast was really warm bread. Eggs good - but it's just not that hats to dish up a decent brekky

So Ordinary. Service was barely adequate. Had to clear our own plates. Food was ok. Only reason I would go back would be because it serves breakfast later than others.
Love2011
Wouldnt go back.. Biga use to be alot better when they had the old chef there, ever since they changed that the food came out undercooked ect. the waitress we had seemed nice and tried her hardest to keep up. but i have to admit i dont like how the manger yells at the staff or makes them look stupid infront of customers. made me and my other half not come back.
Matthew Wright-Simon
I ordered one egg, spinach & mushroom. With coffee this came to almost $20! When queried was told it was like someone "ordering one pancake" and that they are not set up for that. Major #fail!
MissJoyMonger
Nothing special. French toast. Meh. Not bad. But I was left hungry.

Orange Juice. Is it fresh? Meh. Couldn't tell. Ok, but not my favourite (man, I am way too spoiled by Evida's).

Terrible service, average food. Stopped at Biga for lunch after our Sunday morning walk- seemed nice at first, with a complimentary (but tasteless) melting moment to accompany what can only be described as a very average moccachino. But what left the really unpleasant aftertaste was the staff- practically throwing 2 sets of cutlery and serviettes in front of my partner, not bothering to even separate them. Very quickly our meals appeared; while the pancakes and berry compote were nicely presented (though bland) the burger was undercooked and very oily. It was more insulting that the more dressed up couple next to us were 'treated' to considerably better service- their cutlery actually placed on either side, and with discretion (eg not banged in front of one of them).
Both my partner and I were tidily but casually dressed in walking shoes but I can't help but think we were treated with some disdain- I hate to break it to the staff of Biga Panifico but I don't dress to impress service staff- especially at a place featuring tacky and dusty plastic 'floral arrangements.' Wouldn't waste my time returning.
Aeroplate
Terrible service and average food. If you want to be treated by a third class citizen by all means go for a meal or drink because rest assured the staff will look down their noses at you and thwack the food and utensils down on the table. The coffee tasted like it had been filtered through a dirty sock and the beef burger came with no side and the patty was under cooked. I"d avoid it at all cost. Worst experience I've ever had
Alex
Great coffee. I have been to Biga several times now and the coffee is excellent. The barista and owner/manager is the only person on the machine so you can always expect a consistent cup of great coffee from there.

Only downside is the food can be slow to come out.
Jean Marie
Wouldn't bother. I've given Biga a couple of tries in recent months but have come to the conclusion that it's simply not worth the effort.

The junior staff for the most part are trying hard, but their efforts are undermined by hit-and-miss food and the rudest barista/manager on Hutt St.
Chaiwallah
Biga Bad. After being too late for breakfast at Chianti Classico, my partner and I stopped in for a bite at Biga. My sausage was petrified to dryness along with the brioche, my girlfriend's pancakes were the consistency of bad, floury, dry mashed potatoes, and the effort of the wait-staff to attend to us left me a bit flabbergasted. There did seem to be one guy who was doing all of the work on the floor, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention his efforts. All in all a very very forgettable experience, one which won't be repeated.
Bill Greenslade
Food was fine (big breakfast) but only one sausage. Waitresses seemed more interested in discussing their social life
Liam
Pretty poor all round
ChrisCC
The worst service I have ever experienced was at this cafe. I asked for some ice in my water on a 40C day and they refused, saying they only gave ice upon purchasing a drink. This was after I had already spent nearly $20 on food.
Adelaidefoodcentral
Biga is a cafe and bar located on the popular Hutt Street cafe precinct. Serving an all day breakfast menu from 7am to 3pm, the offerings are good with light and classic dishes, croissants, toasted sandwiches, toasties and omelettes. Lunch goes from 11:30am to 3pm and offers mains, burgers, salads, wraps and bruschetta.

An easy fuss-free brekky after a light work out on a sunny Sunday morning at Biga Panificio. I’ve passed this little eatery on the corner of Hutt Street and Halifax street (opposite Alfonso’s and Cibo depending which way you look) many times but never gave it a thought to venture in and try it out… well like they say, there’s a first for everything. Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and toast Big breakfast of chorizo, hash brown, scrambled eggs, tomato and bacon I ordered the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and toast and it wasn’t what I envisioned it to be. I, for one, expected the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon to be separated from each other and not folded in together which resulted in some of the smoked salmon being cooked from the warmth of the eggs. It wasn’t my kind of breakfast but I got my intake of omega 3, protein and carbs. The big breakfast wasn’t that much better either – your standard components without any love into the food or presentation. Biga was busy on our vis
