Review Coffee Branch - Adelaide

Maheshwar antony S
This is an I(sans serif) shaped coffee house. A few tables outside n long bench+table top inside provide succour to aching legs+ incite conversation. A brick, wood, high ceilings add to the verve. I wanted a quick- pay-grab coffee n rush outer; was bestowed with one. The gentleman making my coffee rationed his words. Fair enough. I didn't know what to talk either. What mattered was that the coffee tasted warm and mellow, definitely needed on an early Spring morning.
Mark Hamilton
This is hands down the best coffee I have had in Adelaide. Perfect extraction, balanced, slightly sweet well rounded and delicious. I used to run a coffee company so I am a little bit picky, but this was outstanding, every time.

Read a lot of good things about this cafe. Planned to give it a try even before we left for Adelaide. However, the experience wasn’t all that glamorous. We went in and the barista on duty did not say a word to either of us as we walked to the counter to grab a menu. No smile, no acknowledgement or greeting, whatsoever. And when we were finally ordering, he looked at us like we shouldn’t be there. Since we were not welcome there, we took our money somewhere else for a brunch. With everything being said, the coffee was good. And we would have stayed if the staff member wasn’t so icy cold.
Brandon Jackson
Outstanding coffee. The four of us are coffee snobs (one has owned a coffee business) and we rated this very best coffee of all that we drank during our stay in Adelaide. Seriously good. Rushed back twice after our first coffee.

The coffee is always excellent. The service always friendly. It's a lovely little nook on Leigh St is well-established. They also serve breakfast, there's a selection of deli sandwiches and small desserts. Outdoor seating is available, as well as an undercover area for those rainy days.

The chilli scrambled eggs (recommended with added avocado - which was the best presented avo I've had, topped with chia seeds) were so fluffy and absolutely delicious and the toast was perfect (I hate cafe toast that's too hard to cut) I also had a cold brew coffee and it was perfect - brilliant notes and taste and not acidic at all. Really great quality food and coffee here, but service was a bit fragmented and flustered for a quiet Saturday morning. Venue is small so I recommend sitting outside.

Love this hole-in-the-wall cafe. Beautiful coffee, attentive staff and laid back atmosphere. They serve some the most consistently delicious coffee in the city. The baristas here are knowledgeable and make great recommendations. They also offer some discount if you use/reuse keep cups.
Peter Leske
The best coffee in the City. A Different bean blend depending on whether you have your coffee black or white. Savour the flavour. Cosy inside or relax outside on the mostly carless street.

Barista is gentle and friendly. Coffee cup is simple and cute. I ordered the latte and it is not very acidic and bitter, but got smooth coffee taste. Try iced latte next time and brunch!

Had a great experience at Coffee Branch. The staff were highly welcoming and accommodating, taking the time out of their day to chat.  My partner and I finally had the chance to try out some breakfast items, including the Waffle Basket and Mushroom Medley. Did not disappoint- the eggs were cooked to perfection and basil pesto was a nice touch. Lovely coffee as always, will be sure to schedule in more breakfast visits.

Best coffee in Adelaide CBD. Great food as well. Awesome service under new management. Coffee beans are carefully selected and roasted! <br/><br/>:)

Well this outlet is all thats wrong with eating in the city these days <br/>Poor service from staff who are not interested in being there and food that’s sadly lacking originality. <br/>Do yourself a favour and walk across the street to one of the best restaurants in Adelaide with service that’s hard to top.
Casey Case
Came in to check it out after seeing renos in progress, turns out it has a new owner, who was very passionate about food and the barista made the perfect coffee. The pie and homemade relish, delish!

Long time fan of Coffee Branch. Always guaranteed a great coffee. Love the atmosphere there and the service is always friendly. I was pleased to see that their recent make over hasn't changed a thing.

Coffee Branch is closed and looks like it has been for several weeks. There is a sign in the window saying changes are underway but no details or dates of when or if it will re-open.

Great coffee guys! The single origin Guatemala was amazing! Our go to place when visiting from Melb<br/>Food is simple no nonsense and nourishing.<br/>The staff are excellent and very personable.

Good blend of coffee, good body & flavour. <br/>Served promptly in a personal manner. <br/>Right temperature, strength as ideal for a triple shot. <br/>Found it by the aroma of beans. <br/>Two thumbs up

Coming here reminded me of a little alley cafe hidden away amongst the streets of Melbourne. Some super service and genuinely cool people who were happy to help uninformed tourists find their way around the city. There isn't a lot of food here, but if you are after a coffee, this is definitely a great spot to visit. Whilst the size of the cafe can be a little awkward, a coffee on-the-go is the preferable option.

Great Coffee and a great bunch of guys working.  Place is pumping and i can see why. I'm a big fan of the whole vibe.  I think it might become a morning tradition.
CaRob
Nice little cafe. Only ordered take away coffees. One of the best coffees I have had (long black drinker). Love that they use single origin coffees for making black coffee. Much appreciated. Highly recommended

Place looks great, small and very sociable. <br/>Staff are great, really friendly and always make an effort to greet you. <br/>Been here a few times and the coffee tastes pretty good. Coffee has been a bit on and off but generally speaking its pretty good. I'll definitely continue to come here, great little spot!

Adelaide City centre doesn't have many tiny streets like Melbourne. There are two that run into Hindley street: Leigh and Peel Streets. In Leigh street you can find this tiny cafe. Coffee is their forte and the delight of sitting on the pavement at a trestle table - watching the world go by. Their service is prompt and personal. Coffee was excellent and they have a range of pastries to tempt. The range of lunch items is limited to huge toasted ciabatta sandwiches and a home made lunch special of something else- like a pasta is written up daily on the board.

This very busy little cafe I found on zomato. It looks very nice, it's very small. The staff are friendly and it's not expensive. The coffee had nice latte art. The bircher muesli couldn't convince me, so room for improvement there.

Good coffee, service was not the best. Was treated like I was non existing along with other friends of mine. Have been told this multiple times. The place is very tiny and hard to sit down, the chairs along the side bench are so low that not even my 6 ft friends could comfortably sit, don't think I would go back there. Not worth it

Weak coffee!! I ordered a skinny cappuccino, and it was too weak and too milky.. It tasted like it was made out of spent coffee grounds from the previous day!!! Should be called "dishwater branch". Disappointed!!!

On several occasions stretching 3 years I've been here early morning purely for coffee, and maybe a takeaway pastry or doughnut.  For me it is about the coffee which is beautifully made and delivered with enthusiasm. I'll continue to come back on future visits.

This cafe is full of atmosphere, has really tasty coffee and the breakfast offerings, whilst they are limited, are incredibly tasty. Certainly one of my go to places when I'm on my way to work in the morning. All the barista are really friendly. The place is packed but they provide chairs out side. My best Cappuccino in Adelaide (so far!) Love IT!!!!
A Bite Of Adelaide
bless the workers! always speedy service that go above and beyond to ensure all customers walk out happy and with exquisite quality coffee! great bunch of people working at Coffee Branch

I tried coffee here while ago. Their coffee taste very very different with others. I'm sorry but I didn't enjoyed. Hard to explain but the coffee tasted didn't like coffee at all. Of course you can't judge by one shot so I tried 3 times more all in different days for fairness. But it was still weird and I had to throw away. Hope they are better now otherwise I can't understand how this place is one of best cafe in Adelaide. Ps. after I explain my taste experience to my friends they also agreed with me that there is something different taste but not in good way.

Might be just an "off" day today?. Having been to this place consistently over the past 4 months ordering a cappucino with 1 sugar I thought today I would try a chai latte. That was a mistake, there was no flavour and felt like a I was drinking a warm milk. Very disappointed!!
TheWorldLovesAdelaide
Coffee Branch is a chic coffee joint in Leigh Street and is part of the Adelaide laneway and west end transformation. Word around the traps is that these guys are one of Adelaide's best cafes, and The World Loves Adelaide agrees. We were happy to sit outside the cafe in this laneway and imbibe the atmosphere. It's the perfect place to connect with friends. We also dig the timber tables with slight grunge look. Your coffee needs are met here and the coffee is as good as anywhere in Australia. Comparison with Melbourne style cafes ensures but Coffee Branch has its own identity. We highly rate 5 Senses coffee, with a smooth finish. Using decent milk also helps with a latte. And don't underestimate their simple but quality food offerings. Fancy soup? How about  Spiced black bean, potato & kale, pickled jalapeño with lemon yogurt? Or Ocean cured trout salad? Attractive items are also available via "...from scratch" patisserie. Coffee Branch is the talk of the town and lines form outside the cafe. The decor is modern and on trend including mounted bikes, high ceilings, pop art and a large blackboard showing the options. Even decent latte art.

Disappointing Coffee. I was actually really bummed to find out this place wasn't at all what I was hoping for, because I liked the atmosphere (both inside and outdoors) and generally it had a fun vibe, but the food and service wasn't at all up to par.<br/><br/>My coffee was pretty average - it wasn't what I ordered and after I mentioned it the guy said, "Well, can you just try it anyway?" <br/>Given the very high standard of coffee and coffee shops in Adelaide, I was disappointed to find that <br/>(a) my coffee wasn't what I ordered, <br/>(b) had burnt milk <br/>(c) that the person who served me had brought it out long after my friend's coffee and our collective food AND had mentioned to me that they had accidentally kept using dairy milk rather than soy by accident and that was the reason for the delay.<br/><br/>Yes, I know, it's a hipster establishment, but hey - a little professionalism never goes astray..
Two Fat Cullos
Great coffee, great friendly vibe! It's a great place to grab a coffee on the go or sit on the communal table outside in the sun & quite often you will learn about others whilst you sit there sipping away on your deliciously made coffee. Pastries aren't bad either pear & custard danish is one of my favourites.

Hipster heaven. Good coffee

Mish. Nice coffee but THE BEST toasted ham cheese and tomato sandwich ever!

Recommended by a local & I have been there every day since - great coffee, fast & friendly service & fab food

Good Enough. Coffee is fine, atmosphere is nice and intimate, staff are friendly and attentive if not a little arrogant.....<br/>This place is good but nothing to write home about..
Angus Henderson
Best coffee.. They know how to brew. It's that simple. Just, best.
Claire Lillian
What's happened to you coffee branch? Service has become increasingly abysmal, and coffee a totally weak let down. I won't be coming back again.
Annaliese
Intimate, trendy space. The staff are really attentive and nice. However, the most important thing..my coffee was really, really, really disappointing :( It wasn't hot (it was barely warm) and I wondered if there was any coffee in my capp because it was so lacking in coffee, like drinking lukewarm milk. I didn't get the almond or coconut milk because I was told they overpower the coffee, so I was surprised that a soy capp could be so weak. It isn't the cheapest coffee in Adelaide CBD and I am yet to give it another try because of my experience. A real shame.
Like Friendly Service
I've long been a fan of Coffee Branch. I don't mind the intimate space, love the decor and even put up with the exceedingly loud music but today it was ear shatteringly loud. When I asked if it could be turned down, the owner agreed 'this one time' but then went on about how Coffee Branch is his house and that's the way he likes it. When I pointed out that it's my money, he started a little hissy-fit warning me I shouldn't go there. A bit of back and forth and there was mutual agreement that we would cease doing business. I'll continue to buy from the pastry cart business that sets up outside on Wed & Fri. The owner is just not a nice guy and he's more into his own perception of hip than in his customers. I have never been comfortable, by the way, with never seeing a female working there despite there always being several guys behind the counter.

Mmmm. Have to agree with the reviewer below about the "hottest baristas in town"<br/><br/>one of the best coffee in town!
Moira Norwood
Hottest baristas in all of Adelaide!!!!

How could my first experience possibly go wrong when you walk in to hear "Another One Bites the Dust" playing? Great vibe, excellent coffee, an owner committed to excellence!
Foodie12
It's super busy around lunch, very narrow and small, so don't go here if you're expecting a full cafe experience. The cakes tastes very fresh and the coffee blew my mind. It was that GOOD.
Stacey
I really want to like Coffee Branch. It's a cool little venue, staff are friendly and the zeppole is my pick of the food - light, fluffy and delicious. The other food I've tried was pretty average but the coffee is terrible! And unless you ask for it extra hot it's served lukewarm which doesn't help. It's a shame because it has great potential, especially when From Scratch is out the front selling its delicious pastries. Hipsters flock to this coffee spot just off Currie St but if you're after good coffee there are plenty of better places around.
Andrew Lord
It's about the coffe. This place seems to be mainly about good coffee. Sure they do a few sandwiches and rolls and friands and brownies and the like, but really coffee is what they do and do it very well. Best in Adelaide? Depends on how you like your coffee I guess. Top 10? Easily.
Food-E
Fantastic Coffee. Great single origin coffee. Has a distinct flavour that was a little 'punchy' at the start, but now I'm addicted! Those who have written reviews claiming to coffee to be "burnt" don't understand that single origin bean flavours can be intense, but that's the uniqueness of them! Coffee isn't burnt at all. It's spot on!

We got the tip from a lovely waitress to come here. Great coffee and friendly service. Wish we knew about it days ago!!!

Awesome. Coffee!
Lora McMillan
The best coffee in town without a doubt. The fellas have a smile on their face everyday and treat everyone like they are one of the family, a thousand times thank you CB!
Me
Great place, shame about the coffee. Love the atmosphere, vibe, staff, etc. But these guys make just about the worst espresso in town , tastes and looks like sump oil! Gave them a few goes but gave up in the end, shame.

My fiance and I arrived in Adelaide from Perth with a need for coffee and food. Randomly we came across Coffee Branch and sat outside in the cold with our dog. The coffee was amazing, the toasties were just what we needed, who cared about the col dc weather as t that stage our tummies were full of great food and coffee. <br/>We came back here two days later for the same as we loved the vibe and coffee. <br/>Good work guys! We will be back again

After coming here on and off for about three months, i can safely say this is one of the best places in town. The boys working there are always nice and really upbeat. Don't say no to their pastry treats or the hct- they are beautiful!!

Friday Special. These guys are fast and friendly with great coffee. Then add Friday morning special 'From Scratch' pastries sold out the front by the pastry chef with a coffee combo. What a great way to start a Friday morning.
Jesekah
Great coffee. I come here almost every day for my second coffee of the day. The staff are always friendly, even tho it gets busy as hell in there! Service is fast considering the number of customers coming through. <br/>I definitely won't stop coming here.

Top blokes making great coffee!. This was a great find when I stumbled across it one morning!<br/><br/>In this place, you don't order - the guys start chatting with you and after a few minutes your coffee (the correct one) is in your hand ready to enjoy!<br/><br/>Best coffee on the Western side of King William by far!
Jenn
Excellent!. This was a fabulous little find at the end of a long work trip to Adelaide. The coffee was great and the toasted sandwich was super tasty!! The staff were very welcoming and extremely friendly. I have already recommended this café to other friends and work colleagues visiting Adelaide, none of whom have been disappointed.

Fabulous Experience. My office was relocated to Leigh Street around 7 months ago. I love a good coffee mid morning and will not settle for just any coffee! I had tried a couple in the area and then tried the Coffee Branch and have not gone anywhere else. <br/>For me it is not just about the Coffee but also about the experience and service I receive!!! The Branch is fabulous, from the moment I walked in I loved the welcome feeling. Josh and the staff are just great and always make you feel like you are a valued customer, remembering my name the second day I came in was very impressive. It is not only the coffee and the service but also the beautiful pastries and fresh food on offer. <br/>I am a trainer (in customer service) and recomend the Coffee Branch to all participants in my workshops and I have never had negetive comments from any of them. <br/>So I would recommend a trip down to Leigh Street, I am sure you won't be disappointed!!!!!
Jonny Tropidi
Don't see it sorry. Coffee was ok but order was wrong. Pretty rude service but the place looks nice. Won't be back

Feels like I'm in Melbourne<br/>Great coffee

Coffee branch provides the best coffee and service in adelaide. The staff and josh are so friendly and helpful and the coffee is out of this world. So many people have recommended this place as the best coffee in town and I thoroughly agree!!! Well worth the wall to Leigh st you won't be disappointed!!!
Meg
BEST BEST BEST!. I come here every morning for my coffee - as a sweettooth I am constantly amazing that my 'strong flat white' needs NO SUGAR. I asked Josh and he explained his method and the milk he chooses for that reason. The boys are always friendly, remember my name and order, are always helpful with deciding on breakfast and if, when you go in there, they have the chocolate souffle squares on - GET ONE. You can thank me later.<br/>My only problem is where to get an equally decent coffee when they are on christmas holidays!
Carlosfoodie
Exceptional Coffee. Came here for t/a coffee and while I was waiting I noticed the amazing ham, cheese, tomato and caramelised onion toasted sandwiches being served and couldn't resist.<br/>It was worth the wait, both coffee and sandwich were delicious. Cant wait to return!

Best coffee in Adelaide

Like father like son. Ive recently moved from melbourne to adelaide and always got my morning coffee from Anthony who runs Combi Coffee in Elwood (check it out if youre there). Anyway his son Josh runs the Coffee Branch in Leigh St and ive gotta say im glad ive found my coffee spot early in the move. I introduced myself to Josh on my first visit and the next morning had remembered my name and order...impressive. I'll be a regular whenever im closeby the city...great coffee and great service....what else do u need?

Great Vibe, Real Cool Coffee" Location, Leigh St. Stands a very trendy cafe. The place is light bright modern. With a good range of would you believe, racing cycle's on the wall inside for sale. Outside seating with touring bikes parked among the customers, while they relax and enjoy their coffee. This cafe is busy, but we found the service excellent, had the feeling of being among friends. The Five Senses coffee is right up there with the best. The ham off the Bone/Swiss Cheese, plus fresh tomato, on organic Sour Dough $5.00 How about that for value. Will return.
Ruby
The future of coffee in Adelaide!!. Coffee branch is one of those places where you walk in and feel your amongst friends. The owner his staff are friendly, funny and even a bit cute!! Best of all, they remember your name!<br/>Using milk from Tweedvale in the Adelaide Hills and Five Senses Coffee (ask about their premium black coffee its amazing!), this place is a welcome addition to the Adelaide coffee bar scene.<br/>The fitout is stylish and subtle with woodgrain finishes, muted-colour walls and vintage bikes suspended from the roof! <br/>This hole in the wall off Leigh Street is truly one of Adelaide's little gems!
FreddyW
Poor Attitude. While the place looks pretty funky, if you like a attitude with you coffee this is the place for you. After bitter espresso that barely covered the bottom of the cup I was given a latte using skim milk after specifically asking for full cream as I don't like the taste. Was told I wouldn't know the difference.....waste of time and money. How hard is it ? Better options around
Maximillian
Best in town. I take a detour past Coffee Branch most mornings. The staff are always friendly and familiar, and know exactly what they're doing. The place has a great atmosphere and the coffee is fantastic! <br/>I have a reusable coffee cup to minimise my environmental impact, which seems to perplex or irk some baristas, but I've always felt welcome bringing it out at Coffee Branch. Some cafes pour coffee from a takeaway cup into mine and throw the disposable cup away, defeating the purpose. <br/>As a point of interest, the Burger Theory van (where I'm told one can order the best burgers in Adelaide) stops here on occasion, which draws a crowd rain or shine.
Cesar
Bitter branch. Have given this place 3 chances now and still they can't manage to serve up an espresso to save their lives. Every time my espressos have come out burnt, and so short and thick that you can literally pour it onto a spoon - terrible. Worst is they honestly are convinced that is how they are supposed to be - and that every other cafe in town is wrong?<br/><br/>The staff are terribly rude and seem completely disinterested in what they are doing, and uninformed about what they are trying to sell.<br/><br/>Overall steer clear of this place which can best be summed up as a lady gaga experience - all form and no substance.
Lemongrass
We have a winner here Adelaide. A hole in the wall hidden away on Leigh Street pumping out some of Adelaides finest coffee.<br/><br/>I walked past this place by chance and thought I would give it try. The coffee was wonderful and the (massive) Canoli to die for.<br/><br/>I will be back.
Ryley Smithson
I always thought Coffee Branch had a very distinct flavor The word smooth gets used a lot around here but that is the first word that comes to mind when describing their coffee particularly their lattes, which was what I had from the list of coffees above.
On The Chopping Board
Score: Three Chops in The Chopping Board Adelaide Coffee Round-up. The branch is, and for me always will be, the Coffee shop that brought Melbourne style coffee shops to Adelaide. Since it has opened, it's been the go-to standard CBD location to get a great coffee.
Lisa Holmen
When it comes to a good brew, these guys really know their stuff; they even roast a few singles on site. The quality does not stop at their coffee, even their milk is sourced from a boutique farm in Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. Its full bodied and creamy flavour is a dream for that perfect cappuccino.
Corridor Kitchen
Coffee branch is located in the faux-laneway of Leigh street in the CBD proper and has a rep for being one of the best coffee spots in the area. South Australia digital online marketer Sarah Rhodes who was at Eat. Drink. Blog. with us suggested it and joined us for coffee numero uno. When we arrive just after 9:30am its suit-a-rama. The space is tiny and narrow so after ordering I join the other three outside in the humidity for coffee and conversation. Our coffees are quick to arrive and they incorrectly announce Sarah’s as a skim flat white, but it turns out to be the full fat latte we ordered, so no worries.
