Review Hide N' Seek - Adelaide

Best green curry I have had in a long while! will definitely be returning to this little gem. Great service and we were given a warm welcome.

Nice little Thai restaurant tucked in a quiet street in the heart of the city. I've spent a lot of time in northern Thailand and decided to try the Khao Soi which is a northern Thai dish to see how they went with it. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. Didn't taste exactly like those I've had in Thailand but the changes were all good in my book - bigger serving, less spicy and the chicken was off the bone! (usually on the bone in Thailand which is annoying to eat). I also had a Chang which was nice (Leo would've been better though). All in all a nice lunch.

The signature dish, Khao Soi Gai is my go to dish whether on a warm day or cold. No matter the temperature outside, this dish will bring you the fulfilment you're after whether for lunch or dinner. The service is consistently pleasant and timely, the restaurant is comfortable but at times can be on the warmer side, which is forgiven because of the quality of the food. Although I've only tried a small portion of the menu, I have never been let down and look forward to working my way through their complete offerings. See you again soon for a pinot gris too!

Great food, great service. Interesting variety of entrees and mains, serving tea, soft drink and beer beverages. You can share tapas style or go main plate for each guest. Atmosphere is funky, adjacent to SA University and local startup and retail businesses.

Absolutely incredible, delicious thai food, really different to the usual thai restuarants, and amazing and cheap (eg $12) thai cocktails. Casual. Highly recommend. We came here for our wedding anniversary and loved it.

A hidden delight. Thai food that tastes like Thai food. Spicy and delicious. Nice staff and reasonable prices. Stop wasting time at your local generic Thai restaurant. Come and try the real deal 😀

Can't believe I've walked past this street many times and never noticed the place. Normally eat in renaissance, glad we took a chance and branched out to try Hide'n'Seek. Best Thai I've had in Adelaide, normally it's the overly sweet, overly expensive type. Will be back for more and will also do dessert next time, who can say no to sticky rice?

Some really delicious dishes on offer. The mixed mushroom dish is one of best things I've eaten in a long time. Very friendly staff help enhance the experience. They have a veg menu as well.

Just so so. Not really amazing food but friendly staff. Had a good experience though. I went with my friend and the place was quiet without many people in much time.

I went here for my birthday lunch with one of my friends February this year. The food was great and the drinks were as well! But I have to say the winner was the dessert, the Pandan croissants and ice cream ( which are freshly baked and made) were so fresh and amazing :) the staff are also lovely and attentive!

I came here on a Saturday night with a group of friends and it wasn't too busy, so I think you can probably do a walk-in, but we did book in case. I ordered the Khao Soi Ga, which was an egg noodle soup with chicken and chilli; it was a decent meal, the chicken was cooked really well and tender, and the noodles were fine, however, the soup didn't have much flavour; very similar to a chicken broth. I am usually one to like subtler flavours, and I found this a little plain, so keep that in mind. Overall though, it was very filling, and not a bad meal. All their serving sizes are generous; my friends and I were all stuffed by the end of out meal- the price is really good here! The service of the restaurant was really great, one of the best service I've experienced, everyone was so friendly and smiley the whole night, and kept coming back to refill our drinks and water, and asked us if we needed anything, making recommendations etc. AMAZING staff!

First and foremost, absolutely no complaints with the food and service here - both were very good. On the bad side, due to the design of this restaurant, there is a high probability that you will leave with your clothes smelling like your meal. This might be annoying for some, but for me, it was a nice memento of a good meal. A big plus for me was the slightly better than usual acoustics. This makes Hide n Seek suitable for those who actually want to have a conversation during their meal. Good place for a date if you don't mind getting your hands dirty with some messy eating.

Hands down one of the nicest places I have been to in a long time. I went with two friends and we ate share-plate style with three dishes, all of which were excellent. We also tried five different cocktails between us which complimented the food perfectly. The staff were quick, attentive, and super friendly. I would recommend highly.

The chai latte was nice. Nice balance of sweet and chai taste. the bacon and egg bun was average. Decor is quite nice. Will try other dishes if I get the chance

As the saying goes, seek and you shall find. There’s a little hidden gem on Austin Street in the CBD that is most certainly worth finding. Hide ‘n’ Seek Thai Bar brings you modern fusion North-Eastern Thai street food. Situated where Austin & Austin used to be, they have turned up the lights a bit and changed the colour scheme a little to make it more restaurant like. It’s not so much a bar as Austin & Austin was. It’s still colourful and vibrant and even a bit playful.

Amazing vegetarian green curry - was an absolute highlight. If you love mango and sticky rice, definitely give theirs a go! Will be back, no doubt.

Great Food. Great Authentic Wonky Chairs. Non-Chalant Service. Authentic Spicy Thai Flavours (id be surprised and offended if things werent spicy due to the fact that its a thai restaurant)

Zomato is garbage.

Having seen social media posts from Hide ‘n Seek pop up now and then, I didn’t actually know the location of the business until I looked it up. The business is located on Austin Street, a small side street that connects Pulteney Street and North Terrace. It replaces the former Austin & Austin, and offers a modern take on north eastern Thai cuisine. The team has had extensive experience in hospitality, and have come from many well known eateries in Adelaide.

My dining experience with hide n seek has been a delightful one. Its hard to come across kick ass thai food in Adelaide, but this place does it really well! They do a lot of share type dishes and with the well tailored menu you'll definitely find yourself wanting to try different things. I love their chicken skewers , the fish and their curries. I haven't had one bad dish and safe to say I've tried nearly everything! The papaya salad is refreshing and they have a great selection of alcoholic beverages. They also do pastries at the front near the counter - highly recommend the pandan crossiant - very generous with the filling and the crossiant is crisp and crunchy with a soft interior!
I think the only thing is i always end up smelling like grilled bbq when i walk out which isnt always pleasant -perhaps they could work on a ventilation system in the restaurant however it doesnt change my opinion of the food!

Modern fusion Thai food that is fresh and vibrant. The tofu green curry and curry soup are stunning. I'm never disappointed by the flavor or the vibe. I would love more veggie options too.

My partner's mum is from northern Thailand, so she gets lots of Thai food at home. Needless to say we loved hind and seek and she highly rated this place as being very traditional food, made by Thai staff.

The place is well priced, and the staff are great.

Ate here a few months ago. Food was delicious and the staff are super friendly. Sometimes it can be a bit quiet so I really encourage people to come and support them. The decor also very cool.
I'm a regular here for coffee too on business trips. Delicious!

Cute little Thai place a little off pultney st. Had some rice salad thing with tofu that was incredible! Shared fish dish also really authentic simple Thai food. Won't find any glumpy-msg filled rubbish that you find at other non authentic places in adelaide. Will return!

The chicken noodle curry is superb! Grilled chicken and rice was yum. Green chicken curry was delicious. The only disappointment was the beef salad, which was tasty - but TINY - and most expensive item on the lunch menu.

The food is fantastic. It tastes quite authentic. The cocktail is refreshing and reasonably price. My friend and I had tong yum soup and duck salad. We loved it.
The service, OMG, is surreal. Staffs are super friendly. Well, I have only been in Australia for 7 years (and lived 25 yrs) but this is by far the best service I had in my life. My friend left her eye glasses bag in the restaurant. They called us up and offered to bring it to us.
Anyway, too much stories.
I will recommend people to go to this restaurant and I definitely will come back again!

Popped in for a coffee the other day - the place was closed but they opened up early especially for us. The coffee was served promptly and certainly wasn't bad. The staff were friendly, happily clearing away the plates they had laid out for the dinner service for us. Nice decor, very colourful. Ambience was lovely, with nice music playing at the right volume - something seen too rarely. Will be back for lunch/dinner.

Awesome little restaurant! Friendly and attentive service, fresh and tasty food, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend for a lunch or casual dinner.

Austin Street runs between Rundle Mall and North Terrace and there is good eating to be had there! We tried the chicken curry (delicious and moreish) and the eggplant salad (tasty but not something I would rush back for again). I am keep to return for their salad platters for two because they look amazing. Great service.

Great find. Delicious food. Generous portions. Friendly staff and good value. Would recommend the red duck curry if they have it on the specials menu.

Took us a while to find the place but its right at the back of austin road. Service was good given that it is a rather small place. They have interesting and really different kind of menu as compared to other thai places. No pad thai or red or roasted duck curry in their menu. However they have their signature platters which seem to be pretty popular here and they are quite good too. The papaya salad and basil chciken is a standout in the platter. The waitress recommended the main to be the chicken which is marinated well with lemongrass and kaffir lime and grilled. The sauce was amazing. Would definitely return.

Delicious 😃

What a find! Fantastic Thai dinner menu with both traditional and fusion-inspired meals. They also have a great Aus-Thai fusion breakfast menu! Service was fantastic, above and beyond, and their suggestions as well as indicators of chilli spice was much appreciated. Will definitely be back there again.

Just tried this new restaurant. It's awesome. Food is delicious based on Thai family recipes by the owners. Chilled atmosphere, lots of space and comfort. Tucked in a cute laneway, definitely worth trying. I'm going back for breakfast soon, great breakfast Thai-Oz fusion menu.

The menu at this place is very limited for lunch options (there's a bigger menu for dinner however). I went with some friends and we ordered the coconut rice with pork and papaya salad. The salad was burn your mouth off spicy, but the menu didn't indicate this was the case (no mention of chilli at all let alone the level of spice). We did mention this to the waiter who told us all of the meals were very spicy, something we should have been warned about on the menu.

The pork and coconut Rice was delicious, but I couldn't eat the salad at all, so I was left hungry as the pork portion was absolutely tiny and the salad was 1/2 the dish.

The decor is a bit of a mish mash of looks, but not in a trendy way. The chairs were really uncomfortable and the tables very narrow and wobbly and the wait staff not overly friendly (however not rude, they just didn't seem too interested in being there at all).

If the menu was bigger, they indicated the level of spice in all of their dishes, the seating was more comfortable and the waiter was more friendly, I'm sure I would be giving this place closer to 5 stars as the 1/2 a meal I did eat was fabulous!

I do also understand this is a very new establishment. After seeing the predecessor on this site close after not being open for very long, I'd hate for Hide and Seek to see the same fate as the concept is great, so I hope they take on board these suggestions. Also being a new restaurant, please ask all of your customers for their honest feedback so you can improve and be as great as you can be, then I may come back.
