Review Pho S.a - Adelaide

Was looking for some Vietnamese food for dinner with my mum and this was an absolute gem, very authentic. The 'wrap your own cold rolls' is incredible value and the pho had quite a tasty stock, excited to come and dine here again :)

Fantastic restaurant, the Bahn mi is to die for, I try to go on my work break or after work anytime I can, I can't wait to try the rest of the menu, the staff are friendly and so fast, 10/10 from me

Delicious (ngon) and friendly staff . Recommend and I'll be coming back yummy

First time dining here whilst visiting Adelaide. Pho was ok, stock lacked depth and 90% of the dish was stock. Low on noodles and beef. Ordered beef and rice also, with the beef served as 1cm * 1cm tiny cubes.

This store is quite big so if you have a big group it's great to visit here. This place is fairly quiet compared to other stores. Service was excellent and the pho was served really quick, other foods usually take a little more time but it's worth the wait. Food is really good and flavourful, they have condiments on the side, so you can add those if you are finding it a little off balance for your palate. Everything was good overall and we enjoyed it.

If you like pho as served in traditional Vietnamese eateries since the arrival Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s, you will always be looking for tender, moist and mouth wateringly flavourful streaky beef brisket to go with your pho. In recent years due to the spike in popularity of Vietnamese street food, the ubiquitous appearance of Banh Mi, Bun bowl and Pho eateries at every street corner has resulted in 2 types of Vietnamese eateries. The contemporary modern type and the traditional type. Pho SA, like all the other modern Vietnamese eateries, offers beef pho where the beef brisket is 100% lean, and boiled to dry, stringy, insipid tastelessness. Pho, even with a good broth, is not pho without top quality beef on top. If you like pho like they used to serve it, I would recommend Khangs Noodles, Yen Linh and Pho Minh. All are located in the Vietnamese enclaves where the natives are not satisfied with anything but the best.

Ordered a large bowl Pho brisket (beef noodle soup), $13.50. Over-priced. Not that big to me if comparing to most Vietnamese restaurants around the world. Guess more soup than the bites. Didn’t feel full like how I would usually be for a large bowl of Pho Bo. I find the soup kinda salty, not tasty broth overall. Service was fine and fast. Was there around 6.45pm, no issue with getting a table. In fact many tables were available.

So friendly. Huge meals. Delicious food. Well priced. We will be back, again and again and again.

I had the vermicelli salad with spring rolls and the meal was pretty decent. Not a huge amount of flavour but good. Dipping sauce was grand! Points off for the fact that once I got my meal, all staff proceeded to ignore me...I sat for 25 minutes trying to order a wine at the end of my meal. In fact when I checked the times, I realised that I had sat so long that they were technically closed between lunch and dinner ( which is 3pm) I'm sure they are decent...but this is only my experience. Even just a prompt with a smile to say, hi we close for lunch soon. Did you need anything else would have really made a difference. No one offered a bill after that, I had to get to the counter. No offer of a receipt. I tried to smile and get emotion out of anyone there...no such luck. I might be back to see if it was a one off because the food was comparable to that you get in Sydney. But equally, I might just try a new place because the chances of good service are the same.

Their beef Pho with rare beef, brisket and beef balls is to die for! Will definitely be back.

Food was amazing, went Sunday night when, where we wanted to go was closed, what a blessing....salt and pepper squid was to die for, sweet and sour pork was awesome ...great service, can't wait to go back....

So, I'm making it my goal to find an excellent Pho establishment on every Australian capital; and in Adelaide, I hit the jackpot with Pho S.A.! Friendly staff, efficient service, nice atmos and most importantly... AWESOME Pho!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

Love the Pho Tai and the chilli lemongrass chicken with rice! This place doesn't look like much from the front but it's food is awesome, great customer service and the food packs a punch! Always fresh and full of flavour

This is a wonderful restaurant with exceptional customer service. I have been there many times during lunch and you never have to wait long for your food. I took my husband there for the first time tonight - he loved it and said when can we go back! Everything on the menu is superb.

Ok.... after researching for a decent restaurant to enjoy a Vietnamese feed we settled on coming here based on the good rating. Clearly the ratings are all family and friends as the meal was a diabolical disaster of filth. Every dish was the same flavour swimming in filth.... It’s fairly sad when the hero of the night was the boiled rice.. I do not recommend eating here ever.

Great food and good service . We had the beef Pho 🍲 and it was delicious 😋 . We will return

Food was great. Service was excellent and a great menu. I'll definitely be there again and again

Not the same as I have experienced in Vietnam, but a nice big bowl of hot tasty noodle soup. I did think that the soup lacked depth of flavour. Nothing wrong at all, just not enough for a higher rating.

Sneaky Saturday lunch ..... I had the chicken laksa, which was very tasty. Friends with me also enjoyed their meals. Will definately go back.

Went here on a whim, so good, awesome staff, very friendly, food is very authentic and fresh, couldn't recomend enough, ask for some sugar cane,

The BEST Vietnamese food I have ever eaten. Excellent service thank you. We are visiting from Qld so until we meet again Pho SA.

Affordable prices and able to split pay

Bad service; first time I heard need to pay for an extra bowl; food not fresh; the oil tastes like reused...will not come back again!

This is a great Vietnamese option. My go to is pho here but everything else that I've had has been delicious too.

Their chicken noodle soup is absolutely devine. So much flavour in the broth. Always quick to come out too so it's a good place to stop by for a quick bite during a lunch break.

You know, I actually didn't mind the bowl of pho at first. I found it to be somewhat decent, and a lot better on average that a lot I've had in the past (but does NOT justify why the restaurant is called 'Pho SA' because it really is not). Now back to the customer service - wasn't greeted at the door by the family-run business owners which was fine, but then when I saw how the boss lady ran things in the restaurant, I just really did not want to be there. When we were finished with our food and I asked for the bill, the following happens: *she points finger back to the cashier whilst wiping our table* and says "you go pay up there". THIS IS A RESTAURANT, AND RESTAURANTS GIVE BILLS. Couldn't believe the laziness coming from boss lady and just how poor her customer service skills were. Worst part was having sent these pictures to my family group chat and my aunties telling me that the soup looked like it had spit bubbles 🤮

We had spring roll(chicken) vermicelli, combination rice and iced coffee for drinks. They are so delicious. Best vietnamese food in the city.

We're really big fans of noodles, and being very hungry one afternoon and stuck without somewhere to go, we strolled into the conveniently located Pho SA.

We ordered the Spicy Beef Noodles and the Combination Pho. After a while of waiting, our orders arrived, and they didn't live up to any anticipation.

The Pho was quite disappointing, as it was clear the noodles were not fresh, which would be expected of a restaurant that was named after the dish. The beef although plentiful was getting on the older and tougher side. The Spicy Beef had no major complaints apart from a little too oily, and just... plain.

After leaving the restaurant, we felt like we ate, but did not feel satisfied. It felt as if we went to a restaurant just to stop feeling hungry, but not for a dining experience.

Absolutely sure this is disgusted restaurant, table water wait long time and then forget to service. Not friendly service and cold. I ordered soup rice noodles,at last serve fried rice noodles, and told me if you don't understand can translate for me.
Don't come back anymore
I like hot food, already try many Vietnam food, so I come here, disappointed.
Stumbled upon this place while trying to find somewhere that was open for Sunday night dinner. Thankfully we were in luck. We had the chicken satay, papaya salad with prawn (not much on the prawn front) as well as the duck noodle soup and chicken stir fry. No complaints, quick and efficient service.
Austin Steve
Connotation rice as a signature dish in Pho SA. But I am so disappoint of it. All meat got deep fried. Too much oil. The crispy pork was old and awful. Could not touch it

Adelaide's Best Pho
Big call I know but this is the best Pho broth I have ever had. I went right in the lunch rush and was seated and served very quickly. Interior look takes you back to your 80's local Chinese restaurant, but who cares! Would love to go back and try more of the menu but please don't go here without grabbing a Pho. Eftpos surcharge was the only thing I wasn't happy with - bit cheeky in this day and age

Had the pho combination and the Bon bo hue and really enjoyed it! The meat appeared red so I was somewhat worried but the broth quickly cooked it. Bon bo hue was really flavourful and rich compared other places I've had. Absolutely love the 3 bean drink and food serving was fast and customer service was very nice and welcoming and food was fresh! Would recommend

Great pho, enjoyed spring rolls and satay chicken. Friendly service and fast! (But there was only one other table eating. Will go back again!
The stir fry tofu is the best I have ever eaten. The prices are very reasonable and the staff very nice. This is my go to place for lunch in the city.

My new "local".
After moving out of the western suburbs Asian hub aka Hanson Rd, couldn't really find a decent Vietnamese place for a good pho or combination rice.
Tried Pho SA and food was great.
Firstly pho, yum. Doesn't need the hoisin and sriracha chilli sauce which I normally add to the broth. Broth was beautiful by itself.
Combination rice was delicious with all the trimmings. Bun bo hue is good but I've had better but still tasty.
Overall a great place for Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of the CBD.

Found this place whilst wandering around Adelaide trying to find somewhere good to eat. Very fast and polite service. Pho was good. Broth and condiments on par with the outer suburb pho places. Nothing else in the West End this good.

It is one of the best pho's I've ever had!! Broth was superb, meat was tender and fresh. Side dishes we're laksa, chilli paw paw salad with prawns and special fried rice, all tasted beautiful. Service was really good too. Will be definitely going there again.

First time trying one of the pho joints in the CBD. Was expecting it to be not that flash, broth was nice, service was good and the price was reasonable, no complaints

The Vietnamese salad and the pho is amazing. Flavoursome and really good. Don't go for amazing service, but the food is yum! I can only recommend this place.

Pho seemed like a good idea on cold nights (yes, winter is coming :( )!
My boyfriend's mother makes exceptional authentic pho, so trying pho wasn't very fair to most Vietnamese restaurants.
Their soup however tasted quite nice and I was relatively impressed. It was a simple humble menu, and I wouldn't go out of my way for a second visit. But all in all, it was quite tasty. :)

Pho is, for some people, a food group all of its own. On the pyramid I believe it’s located somewhere between the vegetables and dairy. The intricate depth of flavour in the broth, mixed with the textural elements, fresh herbs, noodles, some chilli, served with the (traditionally) raw beef makes for an intoxicating and addictive mix. Its also normally excellent value, so makes for a filling, healthy and warming meal especially as we head into the cooler months.

I tried this place with a little caution, because I am surrounded by Vietnamese restaurants around home and have been spoiled by their authenticity. I was delighted to find that my selection of Sweet and Sour Pork was generous (typical of Vietnamese dining), delicious and healthy! I'll have to remember to take photos next time. My friend and I were promptly received by warm and friendly staff and the service was of a high standard. Also impressive was how shiny and clean the premises were. I am making an appointment with myself to put my homemade lunch on the back burner to eat here at least once every week. VERY IMPRESSED!
On The Chopping Board
Started by the owners of internationally renowned (joke) Adelaide Pho, a pleasant new location right near the hustle and bustle of Leigh/Peel street has emerged. Keeping with what works well, the menu is - as far as I (Cam) can tell, mostly the same. The decor is uplifted and a little more fancy. Reminiscent of Ming's Palace, it features round tables and a lot more space.

The 5 of us went in on a Friday lunchtime just after midday. I ordered the Rice Combination. I was really impressed with the pork chop and roast pork, both were crispy and had some crunch but it still was soft inside and didn't taste dry.

The food and drinks came out very quickly considering it was the start of the lunch rush (by the time we started eating the restaurant reached capacity).

Staff were lovely and were very accommodating to my work colleagues (who haven't experienced eating at Vietnamese restaurants before).

They were very satisfied with the food too; one of them had the Diced Beef with Rice for the first time and loved it. The beef looked very tender and is complimented well with the lemon and pepper.

Only being a few minutes walk from our office, it looks like we've found a new destination for our work lunch breaks and will definitely be coming again soon.
Broken rice combination was freaken AWESOME!! and Vietnamese ice coffee went down a treat! Defiantly will be back for a good, fresh cheap eat in the city.

Yep. Love it. Gotta get the soups. Pho and Spicy Beef Soup are out of this world. Have been here 4 times already, just working around the corner makes it easy.
Aunty Ol
Really not that great. Had a vermicelli bowl with chopped spring rolls on top. The rolls had a very odd texture & I didn't eat them after the first few bites. my partner had beef pho which was lacking in flavour. Very unlikely to return.

was out lunch with friends today and came across this place. recently opened, and being a fan of beef noodle soup thought would give it a try. ordered a rare beef beef ball noodle soup and was quite satisfied after finished. the broth was clear and tasted wholesome not too salty like some other places i have dined at before. meat was juicy, definitely many beef flavour there. serving size was reasonable and noodles were cooked well.
my friends tried several other rice dishes and also left quite full and satisfied.
to me was one of the better beef noodle soup places. especially around the cbd.

staff were also quite friendly and welcoming. was somewhat busy when we went, but maybe because is still new. will no doubt be coming back as also conveniently located. also had opening discount which was a bonus!

A brand new Vietnamese restaurant joining the large selection of restaurants in the city... and I decided to try them as I've recently been trying to form my favourite places for Pho in Adelaide. However that list was to be put on delay, as I didn't really feel like pho when I sat down... and ended up ordering lemongrass chicken with broken rice. That was probably a mistake, as their "broken rice" was just normal rice. In fact, it was little bit soggy too. The lemongrass chicken was also quite dry and cold which was pretty sad (should have tried their pho...).

Pho SA gave me a pretty disappointing first impression, and not sure if I want to return to give their pho a chance. It may be because they are still new, and still getting familiarized, but if they don't improve, it is going to be hard for them to compete with all the other Vietnamese restaurants out there.

It is so amazing. The best Vietnamese food in CBD Adelaide.
Specialist about beef soup.
There are also have traditional Vietnamese food such as chicken and beef laksa.
