Review Devour Dessert Bar - Adelaide

Suzanne Haynes
We love Devour. Delightful staff, well priced meals, good coffee. Excellent selection of foods including vegetarian. Take away and pre order is ok. Most times there is a small wait.

Solid brunch place with an asian touch on the menu and the standard brunch meals. Great atmosphere and service, with all tables filled during lunch. Ordered the big breakfast and breakfast bao with iced long black and iced matcha for drinks. The iced matcha was slightly on the sweeter side and the turkish bread was undertoasted. Bacon strips, pork sausages and hash browns were better than expected. Would recommend going again but does not stand out from any other brunch place.

I am normally a fussy eater but Devour is hands down the best cafe I have been to in Adelaide. Coffee is consistently good, I have been most impressed with their menu. Great food quality, generous portion size and pricing all amazing and on point. Service can be a little delayed due to how busy they are but always served my takeaway coffee at reasonable timing. Quality has always been faultless. I am a regular customer now.

First visit... great coffee but expected more 'patisserie' items

Lunch at @devourcafe - consistently good food! Haven't been back in ages, and there were new items on the menu. Tasty! . Potato rosti with chorizo and poached eggs: this was a fantastic dish! The potato rosti was nice and crispy, and the chorizo was very tasty. Perfectly poached eggs too! . Mushroom and haloumi baos: nicely steamed baos with really delicious fillings. The mushrooms were great, and you just can't go wrong with grilled haloumi! . Iced matcha latte: one of the few places that actually make a decent iced matcha latte šŸ˜….

Good coffee, friendly staff, obviously quite popular. Only gripe and the reason for only 3 stars? Calling it a 'patisserie' is a little bit over-ambitious. A dozen iced donuts do not make a patisserie.

Devour was nominated for a work meeting in the Richmond area and I was pleasantly surprised. Initially we were just there for coffee but on sighting some of the dishes being delivered, I changed my mind! Ordered the avocado on toast (an easily comparable staple) and it was marvellous: the eggs were perfectly cooked, the toast was separate (not soggy), the chilli oil, shallots and coriander made it irresistible. Conversation had to slow down significantly while the meal was enjoyed. Had a standard cappucino on the side and it was solid but by no means outstanding. Cafe itself is medium sized and at lunch was packed with young mothers and their babies. You would be happy to have this as your local if you lived in the area.

Nice food and coffee, friendly service, and lovely seating area with sunshine. Donuts are homemade. Canā€™t expect more from a local cafe.

Good food - loved the Bao and the Soba Salad. Service was also great - my grandma couldn't eat her meal when it was given because of the dairy, so we ordered a different meal instead. We did not want to put the uneaten meal to waste and decided to have it as takeaway, though they insisted giving it to us for free. Very kind of them, would definitely recommend Devour. Just a shame they no longer serve desserts - would have loved to have something sweet after lunch!

Came here for a dessert night back in May and the food was incredible. Heard such good things about this cafe that I knew it was worth the 1h wait outside, and the 0.5h wait at our table, for some sweet treats. Would wait again, hot damn was it the right decision! Shared a peanut butter and jelly pannacotta, chocolate lava cake, fried red velvet ball with ice cream, and a donut dish...all were well thought out, balanced and textural heaven. The team behind the dishes just gets what makes dessert great, and the wait staff run a well oiled front of house machine. If you haven't visited before, make the effort to get to Hilton, you won't be disappointed.

Gets busy so get in early. The green table dish is packed full of vegetables I highly recommend this. Will try their maple bacon doughnut one day. Bao was good too.

Devour Cafe used to be known as an exclusive dessert cafe back in their days on Prospect Road. Since their move to Richmond they stay true to their dessert hearts by having pop up dessert nights but the cafe now serves breakfast and lunch. Excellent breakfast and lunch if I may add. The menu changes from time to time keeping with the food trend and it is mouth watering.

Love Devour! Itā€™s a hidden gem. The coffee is amazing and the menu is yum! Thereā€™s a lovely selection of traditional and Asian fusion dishes to choose. Definitely recommend!

Love this place, fantastic coffee and the food never fails. Never had a disappointing dish, the pork belly burger is great and the corn fritters.
Meli M
I was recommended this place but was disappointed, I found the meals to be slightly overpriced and the juice a rip off, the cup was filled to the top with ice which only gave me about 4 mouthfuls of juice.
Asha
It's a tiny unassuming cafe but packed full of flavour. Most of their pastries is a must try ... Price is reasonable. Because of their size, it can get crowded pretty quickly and the last time I checked, they don't take bookings so there can be a bit of a wait ..

Devour is such a great place for brunch or dessert. Loads of options on the menu and so many tasty treats on offer to eat there or takeaway including their famous donuts. Friendly staff and a chilled relaxed atmosphere. Easy parking in the surrounding streets and look out for their dessert nights which are held throughout the year. A big tick from me.

Delicious and worth the wait
No need to order drinks unless it's a herbal tea because you feel sick from sugar overload hehe
Best with a few friends so you can share a few dishes!

Yoghurt panna cotta was amazing! Carrot and cumin soup is also delicious!šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

When someone asks for Lactose Free milk, it is imperative they get Lactose Free Milk. Its such a simple thing and it makes me want to avoid the place entirely regardless of how good the food is. Its such a simple thing to get right, yet you failed to do so.

Overall very happy and impressed by devour since it moved south and became a cafe. Even in horrible winter weather this place was jammed with people streaming in the whole time we were there. Service was fast and friendly. I love the feel of this place, small and cosy but would have been nice to have a heater going so we didn't have to wear our jackets while eating. It's a small menu with a few additional specials but our dishes and the dishes I saw go out were presented beautifully and decent portions. I had the chorizo, beetroot relish and poached eggs and it was so yummy! They also have a small dessert cabinet filled with macarons and donuts. I got a snickers donut takeaway and it was so tasty! Definitely recommend devour.

Love this place! Food is always amazing and the atmosphere is spot on. Highly recommended for foodies! Their cakes and desserts are delish as well. Can't wait for the next dessert night!

Very nice place with great hipster decor, would definitely recommend! looks great on photos and the food was great as well, definitely worth the price and stands out for Adelaide cafes
Poppie
Poppie has been to Devour quite a few times, he loves the fitout and atmosphere of this suburban hidden eat which is becoming more and more common these days. This place is very delicious. The coffee is nice however it is hit and miss depending on the barista. But let Poppie tell you, the Benedict Breakfast with Ham Hock was incredible. Absolutely delicious ham cooked to perfection and falls apart then melts in your mouth. Poppie is salivating just thinking of it now. The cakes and desserts they use to do on Prospect road is now a thing of the past. Now there are muffins and healthy raw options instead. A sign of the times I guess. Hopefully the 'Raw' fad fades fast. Despite this, Devour is definitely worth a visit. Thumb Up

Oh so tasty! This little hipster cafe is tucked away providing plenty of street parking. Food was beautiful! Exciting out-of-the-box menu. Fresh and packed of flavour!

It's pretty good there I liked my meal I just didn't like the honeycomb it had a bitter taste to it so I rate it a 4.0 But it's good food for dessert

It's great to revisit a place and get a totally different and improved experience to the first. This is what happened for me when I gave Devour another try. The staff were all friendly and even though the person who served us forgot to put in the order for the second coffee, this was a small thing in the overall experience. Our order was taken at the table and water was offered when we sat down as was the offer to bring coffee while we decided on what to order. The food was excellent and the coffee was good quality. Absolutely loved the chia pudding.Ā
The cafe was very busy and the vibe was great. Healthy options in the menu and good value for money. I am glad I gave this place another try and have since been back a few times and found the experience each time just as good. I have left my original review below but would now say definitely give Devour a try!
-------------------------------------------
ORIGINAL REVIEW - November 2016 Rated 3.0
If I could rate only on service this cafe would get no more than 1.0. Very indifferent service bordering on rude. When I approached the counter I let the staff member know that I hadn't been there before and so wasn't sure what was available. She pointed at the menu board and said nothing. I decided against spending much there so ordered a cookie and juice - the cookie was ordinary and was told I couldn't have ginger in the juice because she told me with raised eyebrows that they don't have that. Ā Pointing seems to be the way they offer customer 'service' as that is what she did when I asked about table water. The bottle on the table was empty and there were no glasses. The table was unwiped and this was not done when the food was delivered.
The place was busy and the food going out to the table next to me looked good. It seems to be one of those 'places to be' and the shop itself was light and airy and located on a main thoroughfare from South Road so is easy to find and there is no nearby competition. I left very unimpressed but maybe there was a reason for such bad service. Seating inside and out.
Summary: Service poor. Food others were eating looked good. Juice watery, cookie rock hard. Give it a try? Yes - maybe your experience will be better.

I ordered the corn fritters with salsa and poached eggs. Everything was delicious except for the corn fritters. They were like deep fried cakes with a little bit of corn in them. If Devour just made the usual corn fritters, it would have been much better. I didn't eat them after I tried them as they were really oily and just tasted deep fried, a little too much for brunch. The dish also had sour cream which made the dish even heavier. The fresh spinach, avacardo and salsa lightened the dish but I wouldn't order it again. My cousin had the ham hock with poached eggs and it was delicious, but very heavy once again for brunch.

Coffee and juice were very good!

Affordable food, spacious dining area and great coffee. I appreciate large mugs in comparison to small ones! I keep coming back for a reason.

This is the first time coming to devour since its move due to its early closing times. We decided to get get a few takeaway desserts and coffees. We ended up getting a tim tan donut, dark chocolate brownie, a soy latte and a regular latte. The soy latte was perfect, nice and smooth with the hint of soy flavour. The tim tam donut was amazing as well. It is not like your regular donut, it was buttery and airy, a great mix between a cakey and yeast donut. Imagine a Krispy Kreme but a 100 times better!

The cafe itself looked lovely. With all cafe and dessert bars moving into the city, it's nice to still have a few gems hidden away in the suburbs! We will definitely come back and have the dine in experience!

Have phoned that mobile number 10 times to book a table. No answer.
Sent a message to book the table on their Facebook messenger. No answer.
I don't care how good the food is just have the courtesy to reply.

Devour Cafe Patisserie used to be a popular dessert bar located in Prospect offering beautiful, unique and creative restaurant quality desserts. I was so delighted when I moved close by thinking how great it would be not having to drive into the CBD to get a late night sugar fix. Unfortunately for me just as I had moved into the area they closed up shop and moved to Richmond. They were also no longer trading as a dessert bar but instead a cafe slash patisserie serving a small range of breakfast and lunch items and a variety of baked goods.
Aaron
Friendly and quick service, relatively small menu but food was great. They obviously prefer to specialise in a few things and do it well. Excellent coffee and spacious layout.
JayTea & The Co-Pilot
Recently joining the world of Facebook we saw that Devour Cafe were holding a dessert night. I instantly turned to the Co-Pilot in excitement and said whatever we are doing Saturday night can wait! We hadnā€™t been to Devour since they were in Prospect where theyĀ were a dessert bar, as they are now a cafeĀ to say I was excited to eat their desserts again is an understatement.

the Malteser shakes are simply put, amazing and unique. I have always enjoyed the service here and staff have always been very friendly.
The Devour cafe and patisserie has a well rounded breakfast and lunch menu, my favourite dish being the steak sandwich (its a must try for any steak sandwich enthusiast) The cafe is also very well situated for the area that I live.
Like every other cafe, they make great coffess, but what sets devour cafe patisserie from the rest for me are simply the malteser shakes and steak sandwich, it might seem a little paper thin in terms of review standards, but thats the truth (: I love it.

I expected more. This place describes itself as a cafe/patisserie, however there were not a lot of cakes on offer, nor a lot of doughnuts they are so famous for, and I was in before midday.
Monika Portella
Only stopped by for a coffee as they were closing, but the coffee was lovely and the orange sherbert macaron I had tasted great.

How should I bring my baby in?: This cafe is big so you should be able to nab a space for a pram. Highchairs are also available.

Exceptional food and it's the best coffee you can get in the area. I've been here numerous times and the consistency of food, service and coffee is on point! Love popping by to grab a coffee and check out the new patisseries and cakes they have for the day.

When I mention about Adelaide to most of my friends, they mostly say it has nothing to offer rather than their vineyards and wine tasting activities. Out ofĀ curiosityĀ and having heard thatĀ there is Australia's first Hello Kitty Cafe there, I manage to use my love for Hello Kitty as a main excuse to persuade Mr. Nomnom to put Adelaide as out next getaway destination!

From the day you open your doors in Richmond, your service, your food and especially your coffee has been simply amazing. Every time I walk in for a double shot skinny late before work or a cheeky Saturday morning brekky sesh, it keeps me wanting to come back for more. Keep up the great work guys and gals! :)

I haven't been here since they changed location but I used to go all the time when they were on prospect road and loved it every time, it was always super busy because let's face it the desserts are amazing! their chocolate fondant and peanut butter Ice-cream were my faves!

Went here for a Saturday breakfast. Staff were initially friendly, I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers, and asked if the price would go down if I didn't want the egg and avocado as well, they assured me it would. According to the prices of the sides when ordered separately this would take it down by $6. I asked for confirmation, and, again they agreed. I was really happy. When my meal arrived I was upset to realise that the cream cheese also had chives and onion mixed through. I am intolerant to onion, and usually always make this known, but as it was not specified in the menu, it escaped my mind, and I simply forgot to mention it. I took it up to explain, and the staff member was immediately rude towards me, saying I should have told them before I ordered, and that just because it doesn't say it in the menu doesn't mean it's not going to be in there. I tried to explain and apologise but he showed no commiseration, and cut me off. He took my plate away anyway, mumbling that he would see if they could fix it. I then had another member approach and say they could remake it with sour cream instead. I was quite embarrassed by this point, as I don't like sour cream. It is VERY different to the cream cheese that is a normal companion to smoked salmon. I apologised again and said if they cannot do it with the cream cheese I would like to change my order. The waiter half rolled his eyes, and walked off with no confirmation of my new order. I had to call him back to see if that was okay or not. He half turned toward me to confirm, but did not stop. After our food was brought, we were not approached for the rest of our stay, even though it is table service and we had been there for over an hour.

At the end after we had paid, I realised that I was charged much more than what I had eaten (the new order was $10). I asked about what I had been charged for, and the first waiter pushed his arm in front of the waitress serving us and pointed aggressively at a menu saying "it says you have to inform staff of any allergies, so we have charged you the price of the bagel". I was so embarrassed and shocked, that I walked out. I added the prices and they had charged me $14 for the bagel instead of the $12 agreed upon. After encouragement, I again went back in to ask, but was immediately turned away again when he refused to say more than the bagel was $14.

I am not the kind of person to make a fuss, or stamp my feet. I work in hospitality myself, and I understand that there are some difficult customers around, but I was not one of these. I am polite, shy, and very conscientious. I was made to feel humiliated and ostracized, for something that was really no one's fault. I have never had to face so much hostility in the service industry. I had hope to be able to bring more of my friends and family here, but I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Coffee was nice! Cauliflower fritters were tasty. Was disappointed by the attitude of the dreadlocked girl behind the machine. She was quite rude and unfriendly. Not a good first impression at all. Bit of a shame!

Came here for dessert with a group of friends after a pretty heavy dinner and looking to finish the night off with something sweet. The place was pretty well designed, the furniture was quite nice but it was so dark, that i am certain i could fall asleep.

The menu was quite limited in choices, so we pretty much ordered everything. The presentation of the dessert was really nice, and i just had to feed my camera first. The dessert though, was nothing but sweet. Although we were looking for something sweet, i didn't expect everything to be THAT sweet. There was one dish that i actually felt like i was just eating chunks of sugar and honeycomb. Would not really recommend, unless you're looking to either take a nap or devour a whole bag of sugar.

Me being a fitness fanatic and currently being on a strict diet, I came here after weeks of stalking the Instagram page and their glorious sweets range to treat myself. It was what I expected and more, amazing. I had one of each of the donuts in the window (I split each one six ways to share with people at work, I'm not a complete pig) but they were fresh, crisp on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. Not to mention the flavours were on point. Maple bacon, Nutella, apple custard and the classic chocolate iced donut. I also snuck in four of their macarons; grape Hubba Bubba, Red Skin, chocolate peanut butter, and salted caramel. Perfect textures and flavours all round. I'm excited to come here in the future to try their breakfast and brunch menu which I didn't even know existed after being so fixated on the donut range.

Came on a Thursday evening during the trading hours displayed on this website. Was closed...very unprofessional and definitely should be corrected as I am not the first to experience this
Laura
Pretty good but a small selection. I had the doughnut Sunday which came with surprise popping candy - I wouldn't have selected a dessert with popping candy so I wasn't too impressed with it being a secret. I wouldn't bother going back as there are way better dessert bars but Devour wasn't bad.
Anthroque
Excellent little cafe for a quick meet up! The lunch menu is appealing and the quality of food is quite good. I found most of the burger/sandwich dishes very dry but the rest are okay. Would recommend to give it a go :)
p.s. They also do a bacon & maple syrup donut which is worth a try!

New nice cafe at Richmond area. Excellent coffee and coffee art. The menu is not one of those standard. The menu look very inviting and exciting. I order ham hock with poached eggs, spinach and hollandaise sauce. Ham hock was a little dry but that's why they gave hollandaise sauce goes perfectly well. Nice poached eggs. The only bit that I didn't like was the spinach - bitter taste. Unsure why ?maybe overcook spinach. Other than spinach all goes well. Chips were crispy and nice with the aioli sauce. My friend order pork burger with Apple slaw. It is a bit big to put it all in one bite but the burger is so tasty. Definitely worth going back again.

Devour is hard to review. They can be a little hit and miss sometimes, but overall I would recommend it because the highs are definitely worth it. I often go for lunch, so I don't often order breakfast or dessert.

Food:

I have had some epic food and desserts here, but on occasion have been let down too. If you order right you will be rewarded with an incredible experience (see below). The coffee is usually good and the desserts are usually great, although they are sometimes prone to serving stale donuts.

Service:

The service for me is always good as I am a regular, but I can understand that upon first glance it can seem a little icey. You have to be patient, you need to get to know each other first and once you do you will feel really welcome.

Ambience:

I love the location, tucked away on a nice side street in the 'burbs, but I also find that the interior can seem a little bit cold, both visually and also literally, the temperature is low.

Dish to look out for:

The scotch fillet steak sandwich is worth the trip alone. I absolutely love this sandwich, it's the best steak sandwich I've ever had. The scotch fillet is delightful, the condiments and sauce are all spot on, but the star of the show is the thinly sliced, appropriately cooked bacon. Love the dill chips too. Get it in you!

Drove all the way here from the north. Only to find them closed on a thursday night (late night shopping in suburbia). Opening hours do not coincide with those on zomato.

Simply unprofessional.
Daifeijew
Would be great if they decided to open.. Drive all the way from the other side of town after reading its opening times was 6pm to 11pm only to find at 730pm on a Sat night it was closed. What a joke ... Extremely unprofessional way to run a business.
Mark
Great little suburban haunt. This place just does things right! Agree with other reviews that the service can be a little bit wishy-washy, but with honest hearty food, great coffee and sweets to die for, this can definitely be overlooked. Such an awesome little local!

Went here for Valentine's Day and Amazing amazing amazing. Great service, beautiful coffee and I had the chilli pork hock for breaky it was delicious. Mrs had the fritters and loved them. Hidden little gem. Will be back soon

Recommended by a friend. Not cheap but I don't mind paying for good food and good food I got. My prosciutto and grilled peach salad was full of flavour and spectacular. Service was fast and pleasant and atmosphere ... well best described as 'groovy'. See photo of salad ... Yum! I'll be back.
Claire Lillian
Devour is an average cafe that makes good coffee. The vibe is a little odd and service is a little bland. I didn't like it enough to bother making my way into the suburbs to go back.
Phil Zandona
I Really enjoyed it. Good atmosphere, cool decor, friendly staff and good coffee. I got the Eggs Benedict that comes with a ham hock (genius idea) and it was great. Their desserts look pretty amazing too. Will definitely be coming back here...

Don't like it. Don't think I will come back again. Ordered roast pork belly crackling sandwich...no crackling at all, pork is tasteless, salad too watery etc.....Overall all the combinations don't work together. In term of quality of food and taste, it's not worth at all.
And the table water left uncovered on the table, not too sure how long been left on the table, not very hygienic
I had tried a similar dish at the other cafe recently, same price but quality, presentation, taste and service is much much better

So disappointed!! This was our third visit, kept trying it as it is our local. Although busy, service was slow and took 25 mins took bring out a biscuit from the biscuit barrel! Coffee was ok, but breakfast was appalling! Smashed avocados ok, but mushrooms were cold and the poached eggs so overcooked they were boiled. Partner had eggs Benedict, his eggs also overcooked and hollandaise sauce was horrible and very acidic. Not going back again.
Ktquach83
Mediocre brekky. Came here for brekky after hearing good things about the place. Ordered the Benedict with poached eggs and hock ham, as the majority of the menu contained feta (which I hate). Service was relatively quick, and plate looked absolutely appertising on arrival. However, when I went to cut up my poached egg. I found it to be extremely overcooked (basically a boiled egg, I was disappointed but wasn't the end of the world). Taste wise found the hollandaise sauce to be extremely sour. All in all, found the food to be very mediocre. Coffee was good though.

Unhappy vibe. Living locally I was excited to hear that Devour had opened a cafe. But I have visited on three occasions and each time I encountered what I can only describe as an overwhelmingly unfriendly vibe. It just doesn't feel like a happy place, the staff appeared grumpy or tired or just generally disinterested on each visit.
For a new cafe in the neighbourhood I thought we might have encountered a friendly team, eager to meet and please a new clientele. I gave it more than one try - going back with friends and kids, and visiting alone for a coffee but all three visits left me feeling that devour lacked spirit and personality. It felt empty.
Menu options were pretty light on too.

The staff are lovely, coffee is the best in Adelaide and breakfasts are always excellent.

Coffee was sooo good I had to order another cup to enjoy the experience all over again in quick succession. Great friendly service too.

Popped in for breakfast. Got a nice sunny spot in the window with the newspaper. Very friendly staff. Beautiful avocado dish & nice coffee. Will be back.

Amazing. I've heard so much about the Patisserie, so I HAD to visit when I was in the area. The ambiance was great, a nice mix of people (families, 'young' people, etc). I'm not usually one for pastries but when I saw the dark chocolate and raspberry scroll I had to have one; it was $4 a little more than what I'd like to pay, but given the store's reputation I knew the price would be fitting. The service was nice, friendly and standard. As for the scroll, it was by far the best scroll/ pastry I've ever had, the pastry was buttery, a nice flake to it, a nice balance of chocolate and raspberries and a size that was jusssst right (sorry if that description wasn't the best, I'm not a food critic lol) . I never thought that something as simple as a scroll could be so amazing and I find myself thinking of it all the time, too bad I live about 35 minutes away! :(

2017, Fantastic dessert night. The food is creative and quirky (deconstructed) but the flavours are always good. Desserts nights unfortunately are not a regular occurrence

2014, So dissapointed. We went especially for afternoon cake. We were so disappointed, there were only four types to choose from. FOUR!!! Four varieties of cake does not make a patisserie. A petrol station has more variety. We left and went to red door bakery, which had nine sweet selections. This was a week day, so maybe weekends are better, so don't bother going on a weekday as they do not have enough stock.

Recommend the Bircher Muesli!. I live just down the road and have been watching eagerly as this place has been developed. Today was my first chance to pop in and I was not disappointed! It's a nice, open space with minimalist decor and blackboard menus. We were greeted immediately and given the menus which detailed breakfast (served til 3) and lunch. The breakfast options were your standard eggs and toast fare, nothing too out of the ordinary but from spying on the neighbour's order, they looked amazing. I got the Bircher Muesli ($10) which was so beautifully presented with apples, strawberries, raspberries, grapes and was a very decent-sized portion. It tasted as good as it looked with the perfect amount of sweetness from the honey. The coffee was great too. Service on all accounts was fantastic, friendly and genuine. I expected more from their patisserie side of things, only noticing a small selection of cakes and macaroons at their counter but I will need to take a better look next time! Fantastic food and lovely experience, seems pricey but I believe it's worth it :)
Jamie.S
Not worth $12!!. Quite disappointed as the dessert was below average.
Service was good.
Stella
Not what I expected at all. Four of us ordered four different desserts from the very limited menu and only one was worth the price - the rest were overly sweet or just plain bland. Better off going to Muratti cafe down the road. Less expensive and better quality!
Eliza
Nice dessert. I'm in two minds about this one. Both of the desserts ordered (banana cake and bombe alaska) were fantastic. I was worried it would be a smear of this and dust of that, but both desserts were substantial and worth the rather high prices paid. The popcorn ice-cream was amazing! I have to say though, paying $6 for a pot of Dilmah tea irritated me a bit - especially when I could see jars of loose leaf French tea on the counter. Would definitely return, but avoid ordering tea!

Might need to go back again. I went mid week evening, killing time while my son had a school event on, and thought i'd have a coffee, dessert and read for a little while. to begin with i was pretty disappointed with the menu range, i would have thought that a dessert bar would have more than 5 or 6 things on it. i ordered a lemon meringue pie, it came out all de constructed and poncy looking, but wow, was it good.. down side is not having eftpos, but there are plenty of atm's in the area. couldn't read as the lighting is pretty poor, and not a great atmosphere.

i'd go back, but wouldn't rush. when you pay that much for a dessert you really expect to have your mind blown.. it was good but not that good
Emily O'Leary
I had the apple crumble which had macadamia nuts in it - however it didn't say anything about any dishes having nuts. I'm allergic and therefore was vomiting and the staff made me feel l like it was my fault because "they can't put every single ingredient of every dish on the menu". Not happy at all.
Dee
Choc donuts were nice but the salted chocolate sauce was horrible. Too salty. Choc brƻlƩe was delicious but the ice cream needed more peanut butter. The passionfruit mousse crumble with meringue was my favourite. Cleansing on the palette and super smooth. Perhaps a few fresh blueberries would work a treat to settle all the sweetness.
Jemma
If you're going to charge $12 for a caramelized peach dessert, make sure that the peaches are actually caramelized, but probably more important, that they are even close to ripe.
FoodChick
Ok, a little meh. Came here on a Thu night, was busy but we got a table. Service was good. However, I wasn't that impressed with the desserts. We had the bomb alaska - which was my favourite and was the most delicious of the desserts we had. We also had the coconut pannacotta which was too strong and the taste of the coconut milk too overpowering - did not enjoy. The other dessert was the doughnut sundae which was just meh, the doughnuts were a little dry inside and the the overall dessert was not a stand out and was not finished. Someone also had the maltesers milkshake which was not that amazing, just tasted a lot of milk and ice.

Overall impression is unimpressed, I don't think I'll return to try anything else.

Tasty!. Very small and laid-back dessert place. Sometimes the service can be average, but I really like this place and I've been here more than once. Everything I've tried here has been delicious and interesting. Always interested to see what new treats they have to offer.

My fave!. 10/10 delicious! It's very high class dessert cuisine but really reasonable. Love the flaming bombae Alaska !

Excellent service. Delicious desserts! Relaxed, chilled vibe. Would definitely go back!

Wow what a disappointment to say the least. We went here with friends and would have to say it was a huge disappointment. We ordered some Macarons they had obviously been sitting there for a really long while because they were as hard as rocks. We also ordered a plate which had chocolate filled doughnuts accompanied by crackling candy, some bitter honeycomb pieces and sauce that tasted like cough syrup. Not even sure what this plate was about but it was horrible. However considering they only had about 5 overpriced menu items none of which sounded appealing we thought we would just try something. This was all washed down with a cold coffee. Usually we always give a place a second chance but definitely not this place. It is somewhere we will not visit again.

Disappointed third time round. We wanted to go out for dessert after a special dinner for my Mum's birthday and I suggested Devour, as it is on the way home and I have been here a few times before and have always enjoyed myself.

I'm not sure what's happened - perhaps a change in management or staff since I last was there (it had been a while) but the service was pretty awful. It started out okay. We sat down and were quickly greeted, table was wiped down and menus handed over. But then it all went downhill. The staff (there were two people at least serving) seemed to have a visitor who was a friend/acquaintance that they were chatting with near the counter and would only leave to quickly rush desserts out to other tables then rush back to the counter to chat. This meant that we were ignored for close to 20 minutes. Even after their friend left, we still weren't served. We basically watched the couple next to us finish their whole tasting platter (which was brought out to them when we arrived) and then gave up, got up and left.

For a place that demands that each person order at least one menu item, is quite pricey and does not offer eftpos, I was sorely disappointed in both the service and that I had suggested it for my Mum's birthday. It really put a damper on the evening.

I won't be returning willingly anytime soon. What happened guys?

Friendly and fast service. Interesting menu! We had the donut sundae and some coffees - all were yummy.

Never again. After a 15 minute waiting period we were seated in the brightly lit cold room. The menu is limited and nothing sounded appetising. Decided on the special which was a combination of moose, popcorn, lolly banana ice cream and cornflakes. Looked like something a kid would make at the all you can eat dessert bar at Pizza Hut. Coffee was average.

All round disappointment. I had heard a lot of really good things about Devour, and being so close to where I live, I was looking forward to finally being able to go.

Myself and group of 4 friends decided to go out for dessert on a Tuesday night. The server looked disappointed that people had arrived, when I walked in. It was fairly quiet, only a few other people, which means there is no real excuse for extremely slow and poor service.

We waited around 10 minutes for the last of our friends to arrive, as it had been a last minute arrangement, and the server looked as if there was no bigger burden in his life than doing his job.

Once we had ordered (from the very few unimpressive menu items), our desserts took an hour to come out. An hour for dessert is absolutely awful, especially when no one else was ordering at the same time.

The staff were obviously unimpressed that we were there, and were talking loudly in the kitchen about their personal lives, which seemed extremely unprofessional.

The desserts themselves were OK (not amazing - I have certainly had better), and extremely overpriced. The servings were tiny and disappointing given the prices.

Once it comes time to pay, they accept cash only - which is ridiculous. Luckily we had cash, but I pretty rarely do. The lone staff (the others had all left), stared at us awkwardly until we got up to pay.

Overall, the dessert was overpriced and not that tasty, the service was awful, and the decor was quite tacky.

One of my favourite dessert places in Adelaide especially alil up north. They have a small but delicious selection of desserts to cater for most people. Served in a very cosy but spacious room where couples and friends can enjoy. Can't remember off the top of my head what I had but I know their chocolate fondant is to die for (note the 15 min wait). Absolutely love it! :D
Grace
I went here a few nights ago and it was honestly so yummy! My food was well worth what I paid for it and the hospitality was amazing :) I have decided I need to stop trying all these dessert bars because there are so many I want to go back to!! I am a very fussy eater when it comes to desserts as I can cook pretty well myself so am very picky! But this definitely lives up to the expectation!
Janelleborlace
Amazing. Every time I go here I am always amazed! The staff here are fantastic and very welcoming... Always a line outside the door on a Friday night but it is well worth the wait! The chocolate fondant is superb, but honestly, I would recommend anything on their menu.

Defiantly highly recommend this place for desserts lovers!
Simon Ryan
Excellent desserts and coffee... Would just love it to have a bit of a revamp though. Can't wait to go back.

The chocolate fondant was amazing! Highly recommended.

An alright place, average but are getting better. A lot better from where they first began. Green tea thick-shake is a must have, but make sure they remember to make it thick! That's always my problem with them!

Must Visit for Dessert Lovers. Devour Dessert Bar features a small but regularly changing menu of restaurant quality desserts. The atmosphere is contemporary rustic with soft mood lighting, fitting for an evening only venue. We've only had to queue once, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Visiting last night, we ordered a selection of desserts and milkshakes. There's lots of anticipation when the food arrives, due to the chef's creativeness and the beautiful presentation. The servings can look deceptively modest, but because of the high quality ingredients are both full of flavour and very filling. The drinks are equally delicious and served in cute glass bottles.

My dessert was the chocolate tart, served cut into two glossy rectangles like jewels, with piped white chocolate, whole raspberries, peanut crunch and peanut butter ice-cream placed strategically around the plate. The accompanying caramelised white chocolate milkshake tasted exactly as described, though our son says the Malteser shake is the best. Even my non-dessert husband loved the delicate flavours in the deconstructed cheesecake with tapioca. At around $12 for dessert and $6.50 for a milkshake, this is one of the best quality and value for money dining experiences in Adelaide.

The desserts were amazing. Went with a large group and we ordered 1 of every dessert and not one dish was a disappointment. All were incredible and delicious. Ambience of the place is quite nice. The macarons were mouthwateringly good. Also bought 2 takeaway tubs of ice cream, peanut butter and red skin. Finished them both in 2 days. Can't wait to come for more. One of my new favorite dessert places in Adelaide.
Neil Atkinson
Very nice, the desert was well balanced in flavour and not a huge portion. The atmosphere was vibrant and we all enjoyed ourself. Good quality and casual, what more could you ask for.
Thomas Chau
My white chocolate and caramel milkshake was amazing, the food was also good. The problem is that you get very little for what you pay. If you have a small stomach and money to throw, this is the place for you!

Expensive. Good food. Small quantity

I always enjoy the lemon meringue dessert and donuts. EFTPOS would mean I go there more often. Happy this happy busy place is in my 'hood.

Fantastic. Always something interesting to try. The milkshakes are incredible. The staff are always really polite and friendly. I like the dim lighting makes it feel intimate

Every time I come to devour I am always greeted warmly, informed correctly as to what is currently available, orders are prompt, and simply amazing food. Never dissappointing. Ever! A must go!

Best Dessert bar in Adelaide?. As a food | coffee critic, I have been to Devour a few times, each time leaving satisfied and impressed.

//Cafe atmosphere
From the dim red industrial lighting to the vintage chocolate making implements and bottles in boxes on the walls, it's easy to see that the fitout has been well thought through. Neat and practical seating. 9/10
//Service
The friendly, efficient and attentive staff make for an enjoyable experience. Keep coming back for more!. Best Deserts in Adelaide!

I visited Devour tonight and shared two desserts. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. Peanut butter and jelly panacotta really nice. Donuts were nice but overcooked. Would have loved a nice glass of sparkling or sticky!! Will be returning!!

Not much to choose from. Service is terrible. It's so dark in there that u can't see what u r eating

I liked it. It was dark and romantic and so yummy! Great place for a first date with someone you really fancy. 10/10

The most beautiful & delicious chocolate fondant & panna cotta! Totally worth the price & saturday night wait.

Good but repetitive. Living near Devour I frequent it on at least a monthly basis with friends and family. They love it and find it very adventurous but in the past year I have started to find the menu extremely repetitive. Everything is always well done and the service is fantastic but I would love to see them do something new and exciting!!!
Coeliac Daughter
Dissappointing. On arrival we were told of the items on the menu that had "sold out". Considering the dessert menu was so minimal to start with it was very dissappointing to have it narrowed down even further.
Numerous items had the "peanut butter" icecream, so if you were allergic to nuts or simply didn't like the flavour of peanut butter you would have been bitterly dissappointed.
The chocolate filled dounuts were rubbery and horrible.
We asked to order a gluten free option for our daughter. She didn't like it, my husband tried it and then said - Hmm this is crunchy. He then asked again what is was made of and was told it was made from cornflakes and peanut butter. I am assuming they were not gluten free cornflakes and therefore the dessert was not gluten free.
Liza Hewston
Awesome fresh desserts! Seriously why would you eat dessert elsewhere!! Great coffee also. We came here after dinner! Very worth the visit! See you again soon. Nice end to our evening! Thanks.

I have been here a few times, it's not usually my first choice of dessert bars as it can be quite hit and miss depending in the menu. It's a bit pricey but I enjoyed the lemon meringue tart and the creme caramel recently. The popcorn milkshake did not taste of popcorn at all which was disappointing. Perhaps a little more lighting would be kinder on my eyes. But all on all, I will continue coming back.
Hannah
Disappointing. Donuts were terrible. Average and overrated place
The Drinks Master
Disappointing. Went there with my partner about a month ago after hearing good reviews.

I ordered the donuts and my partner a form of almond cake with caramel popcorn, fried banana and ice cream. We each also ordered a white hot chocolate.

For a place that only does desserts we were expecting to be wowed, but alas we were sorely disappointed. The donuts were overcooked, dry tough exteriors and very chewy, making eating them like old shoes. The cake was also very dry, and in our view and embarrassment to serve. My partner loves desserts and even she didn't / couldn't eat more than about half of it. She commented that it was like eating sand.

The white hot chocolates were nice, although very milky instead of chocolatey.

You can't book at this place either, so if you have to wait I'd suggest moving on to somewhere else, you'll be glad you did.

I'll make my decision upon return.... I think i like this place - everyone else's desserts looked great but my macarons were lack luster. though the flavour was good, they were freezing cold which made me nervous that they had been stored at too low a temperature. alas, they had, and were therefore very hard to bite into. still delicious but it does defeat the whole purpose of a macaron if it's not soft and chewy.

i'll return and try something else and make my final decision.
Benerdigo
While the deserts were okay (a bit wanky) it feels like your cramped in the bottom of a dimly lit drain catchment. Put me off.
Nicholas
We thought we'd try devour after hearing good reviews but we walked out before even ordering. When we arrived we were told that we could not sit at a particular table as there was a group of six people coming that had reserved that table. This was very annoying as I had rung through an hour earlier and been told that they didn't take bookings. We were then guided to a bench table with stools and when I asked if we could have a normal chair for one of our guests who was disabled, I had to find an empty chair myself. The staff were extremely unhelpful and to top it off, a dessert bar with only five menu items seems a bit silly, especially when two of those items were unavailable. I will not be returning here.
Annie Williams
Mixed review. Their desserts are works of art! They don't tend to cater to anyone with dietary requirements though and the tea is a tad expensive - but everything I have been able to eat has been beautiful. Lovely interior
Scott
Fantastic food that is well worth the reasonable price.
Ally
Amazing. best dessert bar in Adelaide. quick service, good but small range of meals - but something for everyone. the chocolate donut dessert is my fave with everything on the plate working well together.

Creative Monstrosity. Creative monstrosity is the best phrase I can apply either to the desserts or the unjustifiable price. We went there last night and it turned out to be another hype.

My friends ordered lemon meringue ($12) and chocolate brownie with banana ice cream and caramelised banana ($12) while we ordered Tasting Board ($26). All of the desserts came very nicely presented, one was even on fire which has a nice effect. But ultimately, these desserts will be judged on the taste. My friends could not finished their desserts (and it's not due to the size as the servings are miniscule for the price), it's just that the flavours do not mix well. When you burn the lemon meringue, it created a bitter after-effect which was not nice. The worst offending dessert is the Tasting Board. Thinking we would get an assortment of dessert to taste, but really you are better off ordering 2 individual desserts. Tasting Board offered 2 redskin macarons (which you can do better by just buying from Nic&Rocco's macaron store), blue peanut butter flavoured macaron with peanut butter crunches on the side, 4 mini doughnuts filled chocolate (which I think Coles offer better-tasting cinnamon doughnuts) combined with burnt honeycomb with ice cream all splattered on salted chocolate fudge. Get that: salted chocolate fudge! As a result, the whole thing tasted like sweetened vegemite which is just repelling to the taste bud. Needless to say, 2 doughnuts were left uneatened. The only good thing on the Tasting Board is the panna cotta as it tasted as it should be. But for $26 - how on earth did they price that?

So don't listen to the hype, learn from our mistakes and save yourself a lot of money and disappointment.

Not as good as before. When I first visited, it's so nice that Adelaide finally had a such great standard desert bar. But now the taste is just normal, you won't willing to spend that much money on such desert

Nice Desserts, A Little Small for the Price. Checked this place out tonight for the first time. The menu selection is quite small which made it easier to make a decision. I chose the Chocolate Brownie with, Banana Ice Cream, Chocolate Crunch, and Caramelised Banana, $12. When I was served it, I was a little taken a back with the serving. The brownie itself was a decent size, but the banana was actually two small slices and barely noticeable caramelise glaze on top, the icecream was about a table spoon scoops worth.
I have to say the dessert was absolutely delicious, the warm brownie with the mix of banana icecream worked really well. I felt a little let down by the overall size for the price, but it was a nice treat. I also got a chocolate milkshake serviced in an old school milk bottle which was pretty cool to see.

Don't like that you cannot book a table! but nice food. Yummy food, good flavours, I had the chocolate fondant and peanut butter icecream which was awesome! for a small dessert it was really filling and rich (good!).
Only complaint is that you cannot book a table! I wanted to go here with a large group of ppl (15) but they wouldn't let me book a table so we went else where!
Elena
Ordered the peanut pana cotta and that was delicious along with strawberry cheesecake which had no biscuit base but a slab of cream cheese and a few strawberries (not worth $14!) and a cookie sandwich which the cookie was hard as, had to break it with full force! Overall tastes not bad but didnt quite kick the satisfaction and a little too pricey for amount and quality what you get.
Rosie
Over rated. Disappointed after hearing good reviews.

The food is wonderful. No one could be voting this on the food.
It has to be the cash only aspect.
The place is wonderful,
Go to the teller machine folks before you get there, Then sit back and relax, It's gorgeous

Delish!!. Had a great time with my girlfriends here one thursday evening. Loved the desserts and the deconstructed style. Would just suggest you rock up early as seats fill quick and it's a bit uncomfortable waiting outside in this weather. I will be back

Yummy. Very cool little place with great service. The desserts were amazing - the chocolate filled donuts were a hit however, the letdown on the plate was the icecream - if you're at a dessert restaurant you expect quality icecream. We tried the fennel special which was an interesting taste sensation of fresh and dried fennel, chocolate soil, yoghurt icecream, roasted olives and an emulsion - worth trying. The redskin macaron was the pick of the lot followed by the sour apple but the cookies and cream missed the mark.

I've been here about four times now and have tried something different every time. It never fails to impress. Delicious!!
World In A Bite
The desserts are nice but so little amount! I think Spatz is way better in term of everything (taste, volume, presentation)... Sometimes, don't try so hard to be different you know... Simplicity always wins!
Alison
Definately a great addition to Adelaide's ever growing dessert 'scene'. It's cosy and has a warm atmosphere. An excellent array of desserts and a great tea list. The perfect place for a catch up with friends.
Ruby
Love this place! Great food that could only be made better if they took bookings! So scrumptious, my favourite dessert bar! YUM!
Danielle
Loved it....but why no EFTPOS?. I think we got here just in time, because as soon as we sat down the line to wait exploded. The food can be described as de constructionist. They turn a simple dessert into a piece of artwork. My friend had the malteser milkshake, which tasted like crushed malteaser. It was delicious. He then had the donut sundae, I have never seen someone have so much fun with a dessert. The pop rocks made him jump and giggle. I was fortunate enough to have the apple bombe alaska, definitely a spectacle! It came out looking like it was on fire. The meringue was soft and silky smoothe, with the crunchiness on the outside. My only complaint was maybe the apple flavour didn't come through as much, they could include an apple purƩe under the ice cream rather than just the chunks of apple, to get the apple flavour through. They have an amazing tea selection, the orchid vanilla tea was a perfect accompliment to the desserts. The desserts were $12 each, and thought it appropriate.

The service, is adequate, maybe a bit more smiling, I know they were busy but a I-am-to-cool to be here attitude can leave a sour taste in ones mouth. You are paying for the whole experience not just the dessert. One minor niggle, can you please please please write a sign saying that you don't have EFTPOS services before we enter. My friend had to go all the way down prospect road (the nearest ATM was unfortunately broken) to try and get some money out.

Also, going to the toilet is an adventure, you must get a key, leave the shop, go into a white corridor, enter a black door, into an abandon office building, to a toilet that looks like it hasn't been properly looked after for a very long time....

All in all, I would definitely go back, just with cash.

Funky Wank Wank Food. I love dessert, Sugar runs through my veins. Devour tries to be good, but its just tries too hard. The food is just too creative, lemon meringue...(my favourite) has all the ingredients scattered around the plate...with crumbs in a corner, the meringue piped in odd places, marshmallow around the edges and empty space all around. I would just prefer it as a tart. I also like value for money and this is way over priced. Chocolate milkshake is just ok, made a bit better by the presentation in a glass milk bottle.
Jason Buchmann
Devolting. I have a passion for food and more for sugar and the combinations that are used in some of the desserts here are just no good or too many flavours. A cheap dessert rocks up to our table that is not worth what they charge. The setting is quite cold and service is little poor too.
Jamie Hicks
9/10 overall! Cute, quirky, well designed decor that was comfortable and open. The food was to die for. Devour it we did!! It was amazingly presented, and the dishes that were on the menu were unique and interesting, I just wanted to try them all! The prices were perfectly average, however, for what you get-such a gormet, unique dish- one could argue that they are even underpriced! I did however get the white chocolate late, and although it was not unenjoyable, it was a little flavorless.
Thu Tran
We went as a group of four so we tried many desserts ... The name of the desserts sound good but they are rather ... Gross... My lemon meringue was presently very nicely but the taste was just awful ... Will not come here again

Devoured the menu.... Though other recent reviews for devour aren't so pleasant, this shouldn't put you off as it is one of those places where only you can decide whether you like it.

We went in last night and, with a group of 7 were able to try most of the menu. Some things were a bit off, the honeycomb and one cappacino was a tad bitter... however, the latter proved to be delicious.... we all would have licked our plates clean if possible (we did manage to clean the plates as well as we could... were not ashamed, a few fingers were used!)

it was definitley a fun experience, however its not something I need to to again. If I could recommend anything from the menu, its the caramilised white chocolate shake... heaven in a milk bottle... yes, the shakes are served in milk bottles! how fun!
Princess And The Frog
Better dessert elsewhere. Tried the lemon meringue dessert and was not impressed. Saw staff preparing the meringue from a squirty sauce bottle (which doesn't look good or give impression of freshness!) Flavour of meringue was rather bland with the meringue and the lemon part was overly bitter. Staff were not very helpful and seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves. I will not return for dessert here which is disappointing as I love the concept

Devour Dessert Bar is an absolute delight. Delicious food, excellent ambience, regularly updated menu and priced very fairly. The donuts are brilliant and hot choc thick. The apple soufle is a fave. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended

I love Devour! Tonight had a beautifully sharp, light textured sphere of lemon curd with toasted meringue, marshmallow ribbons and balsamic, mmmm. Yum.

Something special. Devour dessert bar is exciting, cutting edge and certainly a breath of fresh air. The food is value for money considering the amount of work that goes into it. I'm lucky to have this place two blocks away and go there whenever I can. We should all support small businesses doing it for the love. Ignore the bad reviews and check it out for yourself, you might be pleasantly surprised.

The negative reviews seemed unwarrented to me. Our party ordered six of the seven dishes on the menu (savoury too) and were pleasantly suprised. Every element on the plate added to the dish and worked well together. Very reasomably priced in my opinion. Choc doughnuts and fondant a must try.

Brilliant Desserts!. I'm actually quite surprised about the bad reviews on Devour, because can I say this - they have the best desserts in ADL that I have tasted in a really long time.

I'm a huge dessert fan, and I make it a point to go to at least 3 dessert bars every week after dinner, and Devour blows me away every single time.

The desserts that they offer, never go past $13 (that I've seen so far at least), and I think it's rather reasonable. Of course it isn't your run of the mill dessert bar - dont expect to see the usual panna cotta or fondant or mousse. But what they do WILL definately blow your taste buds away.

The only complain I have is that the food takes a little too long for preperation, but otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with everything else!

Ambience is minimalistic, and quite frankly a little sparse, so could do with a little sprucing up!
Anna De Guia
Somethings were good.... It was okay, service and food. I dont think it is overpriced, if you want a bargain, make it yourself! It COSTS money when you go out.
Blackforest souffle disappointing,
Brulee ok
Coffee (5 senses) good
Peanut butter ice-cream amazing!
Brandy
Fantastic. Enjoyed a great night out for a 21st birthday party. The food was tiney and exquisite but stangely filling! Well done! 10/10

Room for improvement. Devour needs to add a cold night dessert, no ice cream everything presented on the plate warming to suit the temperature. I enjoyed the mix of flavours with the fondant and the peanut butter icecream but I was craving a dessert to warm me up. The menu was too small as not everything was available on the night I went. Wiil try again but wont rush there.
Emma
Over-rated & over priced. After much talk and many people telling me I should try this dessert bar I was looking forward to a hot chocolate and amazing dessert.
So when I finally got a chance to try out this place I was disappointed. The service was horrible; they even forgot to give us menus. I also asked if they used melted chocolate or chocolate powder in their hot chocolate, to which I was told it was real chocolate. It definitely wasn't real chocolate and when I asked another waiter later I was shown the packet of chocolate powder! The staff should at least know what is on the menu.
Furthermore a few sweet premade donuts placed on a plate with a bit of decoration is definitely no classified as a dessert, especially when it isn't even fresh.

Overall a sterile environment with an over priced menu and disappointing dining experience.
Julz
Great little late night coffee stop!. Had a coffee and some macaroons here to give the new place a try and was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the desert menu!
Brett Scholz
Impressed from the first bite!. Last night I tried Devour's chocolate donuts. They were hot and filled with chocolatey goodness. The honeycomb on the plate offered a perfect complement to the soft donuts.

My friends were also kind enough to offer me bites of their desserts. I haven't had so tasty a chocolate fondant since my Parisienne friend made me her mother's famous chocolate fondant a couple of years ago. The peanut butter icecream was perfectly thick and sweet. The custard brulee was nice as well - I want a whole one for myself next time I go.

As a cafe, there is a small selection of food offerings for both breakfast and lunch. Not surprisingly, there is a selection of desserts behind the counter, however, thereā€™s a limited number of choices and theyā€™re a lot smaller.
Adelaidefoodcentral
Devour was one of the first dessert bars, that I knew of, to pop up in Adelaide.Ā The decor at this place is quite basic and left a bit to be desired.

If you have ever been to Devour Dessert Bar at Prospect, then you have to try their new store, Devour Cafe Patisserie, now open at Hilton. Situated in the backstreets off Sir Donald Bradman Drive in Hilton, this boutique venue offers a more casual setting. Devour Cafe Patisserie offers smaller portions of desserts rather than the larger options at their Dessert Bar. They also offer breakfast and lunch options. The service is brought to you with a smile. Recommend paying this place a visit if you are after coffee and dessert, or maybe for a business meeting. Devour Cafe Patisserie 52 Davenport Tce, Hilton

This was my first time trying Devour and I was very impressed! I happened to be in Prospect for a Street Fair in March, I think, saw Devour just opening up for the night and quickly dragged my sister and her friend in with me. No matter how much I wrack my brains, I can't seem to remember the flavour of the ice tea. It might have been something along the lines of rose and lychee?

Between moving house and training last week I needed an hour or so 'timeout' but couldn't afford the time to travel far from home, cue lunch at Devour Cafe Patisserie. Now the home of the cafe (serving breakfast/lunch) during the day and the dessert bar at night (the Prospect shop has now closed) I have been wanting to try out the savoury options for a few weeks. The original Devour Dessert Bar was one of my first forays into higher quality dessert in Adelaide and I still feel very attached to this business as they have hosted and fed Ā me amazing food on many a date nights and deep and meaningful catch ups with friends. I still remember my first ever dish here, the chocolate filled donuts and the first time I had the chocolate fondant with the crazy good peanut butter ice cream, and both dishes still rate as some of my favourites. The new venue is so light and airy, the light streams in and it feels refreshing whilst still retaining a welcoming 'corner deli' charm. When we arrived we w

Yay! The new Devour Cafe & Patisserie is finally Ā open. Ā I've been waiting for this for months now and was not disappointed when a friend and I came to try out their new lunch menu. Ā It's all the way down in Richmond (near South Road), quite the distance between its sister dessert bar in Prospect, but luckily for me it's close to my church which means....weekly visits? Ā

...The cakes we had ā€“ a lemon meringue tart and a chocolate strawberry number ā€“ were fine, although not that different from what you can get elsewhere

There are only two words to describe the panna cotta: heavenly and divine. Soft, silky and smooth, it melted in my mouth leaving a sweet but mellow aftertaste. The peanut butter crunch reminded me of those cornflake cups drizzled in honey you get to pig out on during Chinese New Year. So yumz!
On The Chopping Board
Having arrived around 11am, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get a table without much trouble considering it was a Saturday mid-morning. The space is large (compared to Devour's Prospect Road location) and simply decorated.
I Only Eat Desserts
The chocolate fondant was a bit gooey with a crunchy top ā€“ nice but on the ordinary side of life. This dish comes alive when you have it with the peanut butter icecream ā€“ cold and hot, complete opposites but thereā€™s something about it. The silky smooth icecream had a light peanut butter flavour with a popping surprise ā€“ pop rocks were hidden within! Definitely a dessert made for winter ā€“ it made me feel all fuzzy and warm on the inside but that might have been because it was so hot.

Definitely a dessert made for winter ā€“ it made me feel all fuzzy and warm on the inside but that might have been because it was so hot.

The chocolate fondant was a bit gooey with a crunchy top ā€“ nice but on the ordinary side of life. Hands down, dessert of the night was the Mango Bombe Alaska, it tasted so good. This brought down the house (or in our situation table). A dessert on fire, I like.

The panna cotta was really smooth and creamy, you can really tell how much they had improved. On my last visit I had gotten the cookies and cream panna cotta, it was nice but a lot more solid and tough than what a panna cotta should be. However they definitely hit more than the mark this time with the light silky texture, paired with the peanut butter it was definitely to die for.

They do a great job with the macarons and have new flavours that Iā€™m dying to try out (think redskins, grape hubba bubba and sour apple mmm)...

This little gem hides little way away from the city centre, but don't think for one second that hinders its influx of customers.Ā Everyone seems to know about this place.Ā I had heard of it, sort of, but never had any idea of where it was or the type of place it was - if I had only been told I wouldn't have been so surprised! Trying to find it on Prospect Road tested our "looking for a store while its night with not a lot of lighting and also I didn't have my glasses" skills, but we managed.

The chocolate fondant was nice and warm, the chocolate oozed as I dipped my spoon into it. And the berry cream complimented the chocolate fondant beautifully. I made everyone try it. It was spoonful after spoonful, till everything was gone.

Its been sometime since my last visit to Devour and I have to admit, this place had certainly undergone much improvements and had been receiving numerous positive feedbacks from diners. After having a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant, we had to pop by (mainly because I was too tempted from looking at their dessert pictures on facebook!)and lucky for us, there were still plenty of dessert options for the night and we were seated fairly quickly.

After receiving a tip off from a local regarding the whereabouts of a late night dessert bar; the four of us were dead set on fitting just one more course in. Everyone can always find room for dessert. We all jumped into a cab and

Designed to showcase the skill of the Chef and the kitchen, the degustation menu is as much about showmanship and spectacle as it is about the creativity of the Chef and the quality of the food. It's a chance for the Chef to take a few risks, knowing his diners want to be inspired and will (usually) go happily out onto the edge with him; part of the fun of a degustation is eating food you wouldn't normally eat, and of being challenged in your perception of how certain dishes should look, feel and taste. Each course of a degustation menu is designed to fit with harmony into an overall experience centred around a particular theme, whether it be produce, region, cuisine or wine. At it's simplest, a degustation is a chance, for a brief moment in our busy lives, to really focus on the food and wine. Some people are a little intimidated by degustation menus. They dislike the formality and the sometimes lengthy pauses between courses. They feel like their waiter is condescending to them when

The burnt milk panna cotta was Corrieā€™s choice and while the taste I had of her panna cotta was creamy and light, it was the peanut butter crunch that sang. This is how crunchy peanut butter should be: crisp and crunches down so loud in your ear, itā€™s all you can hear. Every bite releases even more of the creamy peanut butter flavour that coats and sticks to the roof of your mouth.

...going to be complimentary because the desserts here were nothing but fantastic.

Devour Dessert Bar is generally a hit or miss for me, and with an ever changing menu, itā€™s hard to tell whether itā€™ll be a good or bad experience with the food. Fortunately, we lucked out on our visit this time around! Ring of fire ā€“ Mango bombe alaska

The right amount of ā€˜charā€™ on the meringue with the novelty still intact with the ring of fire around the plate and not directly on the dessert itself! On all occasions where Iā€™ve ordered the bombe alaska and the dessert has been set alight, it alwaysā€¦ always burns to a black charcoal char and unevenly too. :/ The mango bombe alaska was lovely with well balanced flavours and textures; something that the team at Dessert Devour Bar has excelled at. You may have noticed that with all their desserts, thereā€™s a play on textures with something soft and light, and a side of crunch to play up each bite ...

The lemon meringue pie is oozing with sensuality, an artistic arrangement of marshmallow curls, puffs of meringue and lemon curd mousse stabbed with a sable biscuit. It's visually impressive but feels more like a triumph of style over substance.
