Review The Red Mill Bakehouse - Adelaide

I've visited thousands of bakeries around the world and you definately are one of the best I've tasted. From the vast array of foods we sampled today, everything tasted great except the sprinkles on the donuts are definately the wrong type to use being so crunchy ruins the nice flavours. Service was great and the store being clean, keep up the great work.. :)

A great place to meet friends with or without children. There's a area outside to sit, eat, drink and relax. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service with a smile 😊 Their cakes are delicious. Everything is so well displayed. Red Mill make great Birthday cakes even Vegan. There is only one problem. So much variety it is hard to make up ones mind what to choose.

disappointing chicken schnitzel focaccia. for 9.90 you’d expect a proper thing, but inside there was a tiny piece of chicken that wasn’t that fresh, a lettuce leaf, one piece of tomato and some cheese..not worth 9.90. at least put more chicken if anything. cheers

Great coffee and baked stuff. Spoilt for choice as always. Order for custom cupcakes was done very well too.

It pains me to give such a poor review especially in light of the many good ones already submitted. This was my experience... I visited this cafè two days in a row. On the first occasion a friend and I had a pleasant experience, we met the owner on the way in and he was very kind and polite. On the other hand the two young lasses inside seemed to have some issue troubling them. It was evident when ordering our coffees. Reason unknown, other than being moody twenty something year olds, working for their dad, maybe? I don't know, I speculate. Regardless, on my second visit I felt like a cuppa after visiting the fabulous butcher next door. This time the owner wasn't about and I was treated less than friendly and spoken to with the utmost of disrespect! The cafè was very warm inside and this was acknowledged by both of the staff members, "it's always warm in here" they both said. At the time no air-conditioners were on and there was plenty of space available inside. I asked if I could be seated under an air-conditioner vent and could they turn it on and if that was okay? The girl taking my order told me "they're not on so you can sit outside." I was shocked at being spoken to like that. And why they wouldn't turn one on came across as unreasonable! Besides not wanting to sit outside I couldn't help but wonder why she wouldn't just flick a switch instead of being so passive aggressive and confrontational? I had my reasons not wanting to sit outside... 1. They have an unsealed driveway and all the outdoor furniture is covered in dust and grit. 2. The furniture was obviously not wiped down as you would expect with the current Covid-19 worries. 3. I didn't want to sit outside whilst the breeze was blowing dust into my coffee, onto me and over my shopping. 4. I have a medical issue which I don't feel I should have to explain. 5. I wanted to spend the time having my coffee using my smartphone. Reading a mobile screen outdoors is difficult! That's why I didn't want to sit outside. When I ordered my coffee I CLEARLY asked to have it on the premises expecting a ceramic cup and saucer. So, having been relegated to the dusty table covered in grit closest to the unsealed driveway, my coffee arrived and it was in a waxed paper take-away cup whilst every other patron sitting outside had proper cups and saucers. When I brought it to their attention all I got was "attitude" from two youngsters a third of my age. On top of the rudeness I faced getting a replacement coffee what I got wasn't the coffee the way I had ordered it either! (That's what I mean by passive aggressive behaviour!) I chose not to bring it to their attention. I don't mention my age because I feel I'm owed anything more than anyone else but I mention it because when working in a service industry during hard times like this current pandemic, maturity is what an employer should expect from their staff. Being anything less is untrustworthy.

Relaxing. Good coffee. Red Mill Big breakfast is real big. The Spartan for lunch is also good.

Usually pretty good service but my order was forgotten today! Must have been the cute tradies in there distracting the staff🙄

Came in for a quick breakfast and I knew from the other Red Mill that I have had great haloumi broccoli fritters so I ordered the same thing with a cappucino. Coffee was alright, not significantly special but not bad either. The fritter however, was so chewy and doughy.. and hard. Yes I did request for a re-heat but it was just too hard to finish :(<br/>Maybe I would try the sweet slices next time instead.<br/>

Popped in for Sunday lunch & we all had pies with tomato sauce. <br/>Good quality but I would prefer mine hotter than they are in the warmer. <br/>Fresh chocolate donuts for afters.<br/>My hot chocolate was served *really* hot as ordered.<br/>Lots of delicious cakes to choose from.

I had the Spartan for lunch, similar to a deconstructed yiros, with chips, it was really tasty and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

The Red Mill is a perfect spot for a coffee catch up with friends or family. Lots of delicious cakes, pies, baked goods and lunchtime treats on offer. They sell family size quiches and cakes as well as bread and baked good to take away. Good coffee on offer and fresh smoothies can be made. Indoor and outdoor seating available, parking can be tricky if it's busy but don't let that deter you from eating here.
