Review Mamak Corner - Adelaide

CZ
Had their Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken not really good but not that bad either. Curry sauce was way too little and too bland without the actual curry flavour, moreover the potato was totally tasteless just a normal poached potato not really cooked together with the currys’. Would give another try on the rest of the dishes in the future but certainly not the curry’s again.

Very authentic Malaysian cuisine. Our meals were Satay Mei Goering noodles (chicken), Nasi Lemak chicken curry, spring rolls. Excellent meal

Food was disgusting. This trying to masquerade as Malaysian food is an embarrassment and an insult not only to Malaysians but to food. I would sooner stick my head in an oven than order anything at this joke of a store again. Had to order something else after this arrived. My singular regret is now my dustbin has to house this sorry excuse for trash.

I can not rave enough about how fantastic the food was. I do not normally eat Malaysian cuisine but tried Mamak Corner after being recommended by a friend who revealed to me that the chicken is halal. Plus, I wanted to try something different and I am so glad that I did. Loved the prawns as well. Definitely will be back for more!

Mama never disappoints! I had the Hainan chicken, which is probably not the best I've had but pretty good. I also ordered the fish curry which was fabulous. Ambience is ordinary but the food outdoes that. Love Mamak.

Always delicious. Cheap and cheerful. Roti with sauces for a great tasty snack. Also do a good laksa.

Had lunch and dinner here while on work trip. Great little eatery that's nice and clean. Food comes out quick, tastes great and is very reasonably priced given the location. Servings are nice and big. Staff are also very friendly and polite

Amazing place to have a tasty Malaysian food at the cheapest and yummiest rate. The food quantity is aligned according to the price they charge you. So, I personally feel worth it.

Tried their foods during my stay in Adelaide. The taste & serving portion was generous. I tried Nasi lemak with beef, Pad se ew / flat rice noodles, satay Chicken & roti telur on different time of day. Tried the dining & uber eats. On Both occasions had wonderful food experience. Foods were fresh & delicious.
Though the Satay Chicken dish was different than my expectation, it was like curried with some veggies .
Overall was great foods

Great for a quick, cheap eat. The roti canai is a staple that I order every time - flaky bread and rich curries. The char kwey teow is also another favourite. Generous serves. Good value. Always popular.

Ate at this place once before and was good then second time I got a chicken curry. Was so hungry so I ate 2 pieces of chicken then notice all the chicken pieces are still not cook properly. Ate only the curry and potato. Told the employee they offered two more chicken which I rejected feeling disgusted and unwell.

My new go to for a quick bite between trains it is opposite the train station so it means I can pop in get a meal in 5mins eat and be on my way food is tasty fresh and I plan to work my way through every delicious item on the menu

A small store- my friend and I initially had some doubts due to some of the negative reviews, but we came into this cute restaurant and there were a few people sitting around after lunch (at around 4pm). Encouraged, we ordered our food and were pleasantly surprised with the amazing fish curry with rice! I personally felt that the char kwey teow was too oily but I would 100% recommend the fish curry!

Both meals were quite filling and would have liked to order the roti which seemed very popular!

Would definitely recommend this place, as the prices are definitely on the cheaper side and the quality is worth it :)

Their food basically are not authentic, its westernised and it was not good. The hainan chicken rice was tasteless, char kway tiao lack of seasoning and we got confused with the satay sauce as we thought it was skewer, but anyway the taste was very basic. I gave them 2* coz their service was very friendly and attentive and made me feel bad to give such a bad review but it is my honest opinion.

Got the beef curry. Was expecting good food given the reviews. However, curry was premade and lacked any taste. Meat quality was poor with lots of fat and watery soup. I have had lots of Asian food and this was one of the least impressive. Maybe other dishes are better.

Overall impression: A nice casual dining experience that felt very homely. Perfect for a quick Malaysian comfort food fix, and will be back if we're in town and feeling a bit peckish.

We ordered the Curry Beef, Ayam Goreng (Malaysian fried chicken), Roti Telur Bawang (Spanish onion and egg roti) as well as an iced Teh Tarik and Cham for drinks.

The fried chicken was the standout dish - it was piping hot and succulent. The beef was a little tough, but the curry was flavourful and generally the meal was quite filling.

I was really looking forward to my Roti Canai. It's eaten it many times in Malaysia.
At Mamak Corner, I was very disappointed.
Here's why:
- the 2 spicy dips barely covered the bottom of the container. Would have been approx 1 millimetre each. One of the dips was mostly oil & had separated..a film of oil was sitting on top of the dip under it
- the roti was sweet..made with sugar, like a sweet pancake that is made with sugar. It was super-greasy & super-thin.
- the 3rd container, where there has always been a 3rd dip (whenever I've eaten this dish elsewhere) was 3 milimeters high with what I assumed to be salt. I put some of it in the 1st dip...as I'd tasted it before putting in the 'salt', I was confused about the taste.
‎It was sugar!

The worst part of the meal was when I brought to the attention of the waiter as I was leaving, that what I thought was salt, was sugar.. He argued and argued that it's how Malaysians do it. He argued with my suggestion that they might warn people about what many may assume to be salt, is actually sugar. He disagreed, because "that's how Malaysians eat it"..(so I guess the many cafés and restaurants I've had Roti Canai in Malaysia had it wrong). He seemed to want to argue every time that I spoke. I wasn't argumentative or unkind at any time. He ended up saying: "Oh well, it's ok". I said: " No, it isn't really... I didn't expect sugar in my savoury meal". He continued his rant that people have chilli with banana (so what!... I'm sure they know about it when they're ordering it!). I was feeling frustrated on top of disappointed by this stage, and realized how futile it was to have the conversation with him any longer.

Nice one, Mamak Corner in Adelaide. I won't be back, ever.
The score would have been 2 without his argumentative demeanour, and I didn't quite have the nerve to give 0....maybe I should have...

Ordered the chicken laksa, not authentic at all. Its runny and had celery carrots and broccoli never had laksa with that combinations before. It’s a Chinese restaurant more than Malaysian. Disappointing.
Neewei94
Ordered curry chicken with rice, nasi lemak with ayam goreng and roti telur, everything is purrrrrfect! Is a small restaurant, environment is good, not sure why people comment this place is unhygiene, if this place is dirty, how about the true mamak corner in malaysia/singapore? 🤔
Chantelle Hiley
I ordered the roti with egg and red onion. It was really tasty and the service was friendly. The roti is made to order so you need to wait at least 6 minutes before you will receive your order.
Danguglielmucci
Really delicious and ridiculously cheap food. The roti is the standout. The banana roti has a perfect sweet and savoury balance. If you love peanut butter, you have to try the peanut butter roti, it is scrumptious. Super quick service, the roti is cooked to order. The chicken rice and roti both travel well if you're wanting to order in.

I've been here a few times... I have to say some dishes are a hit but some are a miss. I enjoy the roti- it's light and fluffy however the sauce portion given with the roti is disappointing. It definitely could do with more sauce ! The nasi lemak is alright- it goes well with the fried chicken. The fish curry can be a miss sometimes depending on the fish used - I've had a good one and some bad ones from this restaurant. The Maggie goreng is sweet not spicy which is odd because traditionally Maggie goreng should be spicy ! This place could do with some improvement but overall not unpleasant
Culinary Explorers
Tried this place with a few Malaysian friends.
Food: Between us we tried the Nasi Lemak with fried chicken and Nasi Goreng with chicken. The fried chicken was unfortunately not crispy and the sambal not spicy the way that it should be. The Nasi Goreng was satisfactory.
Ambience: Cafe style
Service: Efficient, the food arrived within 10 minutes
Tips: Not the best but not the worst if you are craving Malaysian. Avoid the add ons, its $1.50 for extra sambal, which in my opinion is far too expensive.

Just loved the roti canai and the chicken curry .
The roti canai was well.cooked and I have no words for the chicken curry . One of the best I've ever had . Well cooked and seasoned.

We headed here recently for a quick feed pre footy. It was absolutely jam packed and staff were doing their very best to keep up with the orders coming in. We managed to get a table and ordered a roti canai to share and a serve of kwey teow. The food was very tasty and very reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and clearing tables as best as they could given how busy it was. Take away seemed a popular option. It did take a while for the food to come out but I forgive this because it was so busy. I'd like to go back for a curry when it's a little less busy.

Funny little place that you will be glad you found.

Not fancy - don't take your date there to impress them.

You queue to order and the food gets delivered. And it is superb.

I have the beef nasi lemak every time. But the roti looks lovely too.

Also cheap as!

Another great place for Indonesian/Malaysian food! Located on Bank Street, it's a little shop serving really nice Malaysian drinks (tea and coffee) and not to forget, the most delicous curries and fried noodles!
Andy
For me, Mamak Corner is all about the Roti. I guess there are not many places in Adelaide that make them, and here they are made in full view, and served hot, fresh and light. There are various options from the classic Roti Canai to sweet versions like banana. I recommend the Nasi Lemak or Chicken Curry to go with your Roti, and a lemon juice.

This is a simple setup, order at the counter, and sit inside or on the public seating in Bank St.

Disappointingly bad!!!!Worst Laksa ever!mushy and flat-tasting chicken tight which is barely edible and oily noodles . $12.90 for a bowl of laksa is totally not worth it!!
JN
I was super excited to try Mamak corner as I have heard amazing reviews about this restaurant. Unfortunately for me... I definitely did not enjoy the meal, in fact, I got a refund because my plate was dirty and my meal tasted old! The kitchen looked pretty dirty and the food wasn't great. It was oily and the meat (chicken) definitely tasted old. I had the hainese chicken rice... I might consider coming back to try again but it won't be for awhile!
I'm thankful of the nice staff who was considerate towards the situation.
Pete Czepil
After living in Malaysia for 9 years the curry laksa I had was very average. Never had a curry laksa with carrots and cauliflower.
Very disappointed
Marni Baker
Very casual atmosphere. Friendly service. I had the Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai. The Nasi Lemak tasted exactly as I remember having it when I was in Kuala Lumpur. It was very cheap, affordable and tasty.
Thefaeriecupcake
We had the nasi lemak with curry chicken, laksa and roti planta. The nasi lemak was good, although the sambal could be improved; it wasn't as rich as it should be. The roti planta was quite alright- it's served with a teaspoon of sugar! Just the way I would have had my rotis as a child. The laksa however was a little of a let down, it's rather diluted and not as flavoursome as expected

Was craving for hainanese chicken on rice and coincidently walked passed this joint on a stroll after a work conference and saw the poster on the door! Yay! Not the best but at least it cured the craving haha.. Chicken could have been more moist. Perhaps more cucumbers then the 5 thin slice? Some veggies or bean sprout would have been good.

The menu included more of the roti and curry. Everything was really reasonably cheap on the menu.

Service.. What service? The girl on the register didn't even offer a smile or any eye contact in fact. Her tone was "meh".

Also got the Malaysian milk tea which was yummy!! The roti was hand made (you can see the guys spinning the dough in the front) and the curry dip was ok.

Overall an ok meal. If you wanted to dine in theres about 6-7 tables and you'll have to get your own cutlery and water at the front next to the register.
The St Kilda Breakfasting Team
Tasty authentic Malaysian Mamak food. The roti canai and chicken curry is as good as I've had in Kuala Lumpur and the Char Kwey Teo is good and generously sized.

Good Roti, Good tea/tahrik. Quite reasonable prices. Good vegetarian options. I'd go there to eat again if I was passing by again for sure.!
Ilove2eat29
Quality dropped. I used to dine in once a while and I love it. Recently, they seem like getting fewer people working (only three staffs were seen during our last visit and they were in the hurry preparing food), and our dishes served were a bit mess. Flavour still there though, I guess the presentation and food service need to keep up the standard. Also, Mamak without coffee?! What a shame, I love Malaysian Coffee!

Good Roti. Being Malaysian, I can say the Rotis are pretty good.
Nabilah D'orio Ismail
Bad. Worse malaysian food ever had. No love in the food. Service was half hearted. If u need to eat malaysian food, go somewhere else. Nasi lemak was terrible, sambal was yuck. Maggi goreng was salty. Not authentic at all. Don't know how it survives. Much better food out here. Shame to even call it mamak corner!
Jackie
Best Malaysian in adelaide. This place actually reminds me of KL food - it's as close as you will get. So if we are not in KL having a curry this is the closest to getting our fix we can
Love their curry chicken and roti canai with a nice cooling lime drink. Good price too YUM
James Wong
Maggi Goreng dengan Ayam. Sungguh enak!
Paul Brown
Allways love the chicken curry and roti

The BEST curry :D. I love Mamak Corner, i recommend this place to pretty much anyone!
amazing beef curry, and dont get me started on their Roti Planta... its so delicious ;D

GO THE ROTI BOM. It's some godsend mix of crepe, pancake, naan and maple syrup.

Curry!. I've been here few times, the curry are always so tasty and in good amount. I tried the coconut rice, which could hardly taste the coconut flavour. If they can put more coconut milk to cook it would be better.
Em Lee
Yum, sooo good. Some of the best Malay food outside Penanag.
Aunty Ol
The best roti in Adelaide. Authentic Malaysian food. I am a regular here for meals pre-show at the Festival.
Geoff
Cheap meals in a little cafe style. I had lamb curry with steamed rice and a roti canai for $20 and it was very good...very Malaysian
The.Wren's
Cheap but very tasty. Awesome lamb curry snd roti so fluffy and light definitely worth a visit for a simple quick bite to eat.
Steven
The food is amazing!! Very simple and very tasty. They do what they do very well and at a great price. Whenever I'm in Adelaide I always visit.

Good, cheap food. I've been to Mamak Corner a couple of times because it's close to my work. Last time I was there I had the Maggi Goreng, which was DELICIOUS. Pretty cheap, came out quickly and a really big serving, I was really hungry but still couldn't finish it. Ambiance and service are meh but price and food are awesome. Give it a try!
FancyPalate
Friendly service- the only thing this shop has to offer.. Let me start with the positives. Clean tables, nice ice-shaving machine, convenient location, friendly service and nice weather as well.

Roti : Can be improved. Home-cooked frozen roti wins hands down in comparison. Portion of the accompanied curry is limited, it's understandable, but the "curry" is basically coloured liquid with salt.

Curry: Are you kidding me? Fried basa fillet soaked in coloured salty liquid!

Not worth the $13.50 for lunch special.

Overall the food here might appeal to people whose exposure to food are only limited to fish-n-chips and boring sandwiches and who had never tasted any Malaysian or Singaporean food.
Natalie
Roti was brilliant, if I went again this is all I'd have. Very cheap. Can only recommend the roti tho as nothing else was very nice
Coolitz
Cheap and tasty. It's not the best Malaysian cuisine here but it'll do for its price. I like their nasi lemak, it fills me up.
If I'm after laksa, char kway teow or ipoh hor fun, I go to Laksa House.
Nothing beats Laksa King in Melbourne, of course.
I recommend this place for your curry fix.
My Malaysian colleague said that they used to be really good but have now been more tight with their servings. I can't really judge since I've only started going this year.
I took my Indian friends there and they reckon their mum's curries are still better. LOL
However my Russian friend loved it and always asks me to go there with her.

Hmm... My partner and I went for lunch here. The roti I ordered was not cooked through and my beef curry had a large artery in it at least 7cm. We had to pay extra for rice, even though our meals were apart of the meal deals in which rice was supposed to be included. My partner enjoyed his fish curry however I will recommend not going here.
Steamrollersam
Awful maggi goreng and roti bom. The food here is depressing. You order at a little hole in the wall. They didn't even have enough coins last time for my change (!). The fact that you get given a number is always an ominous sign that you're eating in a crap heap. You get a double serving of slop on a plate, noodles hanging off the edge. You walk out smelling like grease and spices.

I know Mamak in Sydney/Chatswood doesn't have exclusive rights on the word, but sharing its name with this "establishment" is a travesty.
Mike25
Love the roti. The roti here is just like KL and so I was very pleased.

The beef curry was excellent with a very rich flavour, but guess will try the fish curry next times given previous reviews.

The lemon drink with ice was most welcome

would certainly return
Aminah Sadio
I love the curries in here. I've been here more than 5 times already and my fav is the fish curry. The teh tarik is little bit lite and i prefer sweeter. Overall, still my fav mamak food
KanKan
Yum Yum. I visited this place 4-5 times and every time I am there, I am filled with joy.
The Curry-Fish is rice/roti is the BEST!
The dessert roti ( the one with custard) is the BEST!!
Service is okay as it is not really a fancy restaurant
but the foods are GREAT!

I'm not Malaysian.... ...but I think the food here is pretty good. Don't know if it's authentic or not, but the roti was yummy (egg & onion) and the chicken curry I had was very tasty and rich.

I've eaten at the Mamak in Sydney and I didn't think it was any better than this. Both were pretty good.
Food Fan
Awesome!. I often get cravings for Mamak Corner! Taste is fantastic, service is polite, helpful and efficient and the food is well priced. So glad this place exists in Adelaide. I get beef curry, Nasi lemak, roti with two accompanying sauces, and a beautiful drink to wash it all down. All for $15.50! I am always greeted by the friendly staff and walking out with my food within 5 minutes. Very impressive.

Having come from Malaysia, I've tried many Malaysian eateries in Adelaide. If you're after good hawker-styled cuisine, Mamak Corner is difficult to not like. I've been waiting 11 years for a place like this.

SO so food. I am malaysian from Sydney, and am a very good judge of good food in general, not just malaysian food. Please do not compare this Mamak Corner to the Sydney Mamak! This one is mediocre to say the least. Their curries lack depth in taste, every time I order any one of their curries, I am thinking to myself..how they need a crash course on making a tasty curry!!
And they want to even charge $1 for extra sambal, which is actually one of their nicest sides probably. If you were to go to Mamak Sydney, you can request extra anything, including an extra bowl of any curry absolutely FOC! The maggi goreng here is large in portion but tasteless, and salty on both occasions I have ordered. There are no vege's, its dry and just has no taste, other than the fried egg on top of it! Again, try Mamak sydney maggi goreng, nasi goreng..and you will know exactly what I mean. Probably the roti's are the most OK of all their dishes..but having said this, I am not dissing the joint, just being genuinely honest about what malaysian dishes are and should be..and certainly to not make comparison to the ever thriving 'Mamak' in Sydney!

Chow down for some good hawker fare. Mamak Corner is a little eatery hidden away in Bank street but has become popular with the Asian student community and others. Prices and serves are reasonable. Flavors are not as well developed as I would like, for my Malaysian-nonya tastes but is definitely passable and well worth revisiting.

Some perennial complaints relate to the small amount of sauce given in their signature roti chanai and this criticism is well deserved. One way out is to order the roti with just one curry sauce, in this case, just with the fish curry or dhall sauce and do away with the sugar that is also given in the standard order.. (see pix). Once that is done, there is more than enough.

The nasi campur was good and the teh tarik is definitely better than the one from Nanyang Cafe.
Blueslullaby
Tasty little surprise. This place brought back food memories of a childhood in Singapore. I had the air bandung and nasi lemak, which were favourites growing up and I loved both at mamak corner. There arent many places in Adelaide serving nasi lemak, so it was a happy find. My friend had the chicken curry and the air limau and enjoyed both. We also shared the flavoured shaved ice dessert and felt like little kids exploring the syrupy flavours and textures of the jellies and red beans in amongst the ice. The food here is so moorish....it keeps me coming back for more.

Average malaysian food. Good for a snack, we like to come here to have their roti and teh tarik. The chicken curry is also nice with generous portions. Nasi lemak could be better and they barely give you any sambal. They charged an extra dollar for a small extra amount of sambal.

Fast and delicious. Got a chickedn curry and Roti last night for dinner takeaway. i didnt have to wait very long at all. the curry was piping hot and full of flavour. and the roti...yum! cash only though

Deeliciously Yummy. We went to Mamak Corner for Mother's Day Sunday lunch recently, we all enjoyed the food. The kids had Roti Canai and Roti Telur, while the adults had Nasi Lemak (beef , chicken). The roti was fresh and fluffy and with each mouthful my little daughter declared it "Mmmm, it's so delicious...sigh" (by the way, the kids tore into the roti with all their fingers when cool enough, forget about the fork and spoons!). The Air Limau (lime juice) was very fresh and refreshing - the kids loved it. The Air Mawah has those basil seeds in it and we adults loved it but the kids were not familiar with the "tadpoles" and gave it a wide berth, LOL. The Nasi Lemak was beautiful, rice was fragrant, curry was yummy. Chilli was a tad too CHILLI for us, but otherwise it was excellent. My husband was relieved there is finally some decent Malaysia style food here in Adelaide ... it means we don't have to drive 10hrs to Melbourne each time we get a craving for Roti and Nasi Lemak! :-D
Will definitely return again, if only to see my kids enjoying their roti :-)
Lisa
Tasty. Every time I visit my parents in Adelaide I love to come here, the teh tarik is excellent and the lamb curry is spot on if just a tad spicy. Always look forward to coming here.
Kate Parker
Authentic, tasty Malaysian hawker food. Roti is sensational and great value meal deals make this a great pit stop if you're in the city.
Lauren
I always walk past this place on my way to work. I decided to check it out for lunch and am so glad I did, because I think I found Roti Heaven.

I ordered a MC Meal and Drinks Deal'- Where I got Roti Canai (choice of three), Beef curry (choice of beef or chicken) and a lime lemonade for just $11! Bargain, I say! The Curry was tasty and flavoursome; spicy enough to give it a kick but not so much that my lips went numb. The Roti was deliciously fluffy and crispy, and the lime lemonade went perfectly with it!

This is a great little spot to pop in for a quick bite (took about 3 minutes to come out after I ordered)- great price, easy, friendly, inviting. My new favourite lunch place.
Caro Hh
Great beef curry, good rice, great roti.
MissMelburnian
Dropped by here during a short visit to Adelaide and heard about this place. Wasn't expecting anything much because I assumed ethnic food wouldn't be too good in Adelaide. Was pleasantly surprised. Ordered a Roi Bawang ($5.50), a Nasi Lemak with chicken curry ($9.80) and an Ice Teh Tarik. Roti was amazing, sweet onions on crispy flat bread - savoury! Nasi Lemak portion was a fairly small but tasted very good. Iced Teh Tarik was not too thick, not too watery and perfect sweetness. Better and more authentic than most of the Melbourne Malaysian/Singaporean eateries!
Maxi
Average quality. Curry is a bit tasteless.

Love this place.. I love this place. I have been going to this place with the boyfriend almost everyday since we tried it the first time. Its affordable, close to uni, good food.

Recommended for the roti lovers. I have only tried roti canai and roti telur and they were delicious. Have not tried the other types of roti yet but will do in the future. We've also had chicken and vegie curries, were quite nice especially the curry(fish curry apparently) that comes with the roti. I have had maggie goreng and it was good, but I think the price should be a bit cheaper, $9.80 for instant noodles seems a bit steep to be honest.

I have only tried 2 types of drinks in this place for now and I love the Air Limau(lime drink) and the other one would be Iced Milo and I find it a bit too sweet. Overall, its a good place to go especially for students.
Daruma
Sweet Spot. Small, tidy and fast service spot. price, personally i think is a bit cheap comparing to the propotions of the food portions and quality. but again, if that is the market they are going in, is a great package.
great flavour, would be good if they can stay open till real late night, to about 1am or so. but they will need lots of support from customers for them to be able to do that.
curry chicken is great!
Benedict Long
The belly rules the mind!!!. Service: Great! Great explanation about the food on the menu. Service is faster than 'diner dash'.
Food: The 'Roti Planta' and 'Roti Sweetheart' is great. The texture is almost there but acceptable. The taste is authentic and remarkable. However, it is a bit oily ,but all nice food are sinful. Moreover, if it is too healthy, it will be similar to a bagel, which is a doughnut with the sin removed, YUCKS. Overall, I will give a 8.5/10.
Drinks: The ice coffee is unique. The flavour of the coffee is unique and flavourful. The flavour of the coffee is very different from the coffee from the west. The combination of milk, coffee and sugar is well-balanced. The texture is smooth and it is not too sweet. The consistency of the quality and taste of the ice coffee is superb. It is always spot on. The ice coffee deserve a high mark of 9/10.
Overall, it is a good place to have a quick but great meal.

Cendol is awesome, ignore previous user review. Am Malaysian and I always make a point to eat the cendol whenever I cruise over here. Food tick, service tick. Has real Malaysian mamak store authenticness. Can't expect to have imported msian stuff at msian prices in Australia! ;)
Jeng Howe
Cendol is bad... the green stuff is frozen not soft. also serving sizes are malaysian while the prices are Australian. they should be more generous on their curry sauces in nasi lemak and roti dishes
Paul O
Great food, service and price. Welcome Mamak Corner to Adelaide's food scene !
I have moved to Adelaide from Sydney and the food here is as delicious and has the same flavour as the very popular "Mamak" in Sydney. The price for Nasi Lemak is excellent at only $9.80. The serving of chicken pieces is only three small pieces, however for an extra $4 you can order an additional bowl of chicken pieces. Now the meal is good value considering the same meal in Sydney costs $16.50.
The best thing is the freshly made Roti Bawang.
This restaurant is always crowded so be prepared to wait . . . but well worth it!
Andrew Newsham
Ok for a quick meal. Rotis seemed quite authentic being served on metal platter and being stretched in full view of the window which was also nice to see. Not many places in Adelaide do this

Ok curries and nasi lemak, reasonably priced but nothing to write home about
Cen
It's passable; not great stuff. Ok if you are nearby and are hungry and craving for mamak food. I had the nasi lemak and was disappointed. Many other places like Penang hawker and kopitim are much better. The teh tarik was way too sweet; wouldn't have it if I were diabetic!

Mamak Corner is a great place to go for a quick meal. Whenever you walk past, you can smell the aromas of the curry wafting through the air. while there isn’t much seating, this place always seems to be busy, particularly around lunch times. When I eat here I usually go for the Curry Lamb. The lamb is tender, well cooked and the flavours are just right. The curry has a bit of kick to it as I can feel the beads of sweat running down my forehead. The serving size is just right as I’m not hungry and not too full after the meal. Curry Lamb If you want a curry in a hurry, this is not a bad place to go. The service is good, the quality of the curries are good and the prices are reasonable. Definitely check this place out! The food arrived promptly and, in the main, was delicious. Nasi Lemak was served on a ceramic plate patterned like a banana leaf and had rice, chicken curry ( chicken cooked on the bone with skin on), hard boiled egg, chilli sambal, peanut and Ikan bilis, ( tiny dried salty whole fish ) My wife hoed into it, ignoring the way the tiny dried salty whole fish were looking at her reproachfully, a

Mamak’s version of meegoreng is fancier than the instant noodle kind (the staple to a uni students diet). It wasn’t only just served with a giant mound of noodles but had a sunny side egg, juicy chicken pieces, crunchy deep fried onion and chilli sauce splashed on the side. Made me feel posh with this fancy meegoreng – a decent feed but on a slight low note I wasn’t a fan of the chilli sauce.

This was very good. It came out within 3-5 minutes after I sat down. The opening special set me back 12 bucks but for me it was well spent. Curry tasted as it should....

Mamak food is defined as a Malaysian fast food option for those wanting to chillax (chill relax) or watch a football game with friends. These outlets spawn around Kuala Lumpur like mushrooms and are usually open up until the wee hours of the morning. Having had an awkward service during one of my visits here (the particular staff member was probably having a not-so-good day), I do not lie when it comes down to taste and service. Service is efficient and some of the staff members do try their best to make you feel very much at ease whilst dining. Food tastes good and although some people have complained that the food is not authentic etc etc, it does depend on the particular individual's expectations. This is the place to satisfy your cravings for Malaysian food, not where you would expect fine dining tasting dishes. Please do be mindful of this regardless of where you dine:) Prices do range depending on what you order but it is considered average for a lunch meal in Adelaide. Ice kacan

Overall it was a good experience. I've had some comments that they're not quite authentic but that really depends on individual experiences and taste. There's also a lot of bad Mamak stalls in Malaysia. Personally I enjoyed my meals and it reminded me of home. Can't wait to have Cendol and Maggie Goreng!

Meet the newest Malaysian kid on the block on Bank Street, just off Hindley! Mamak Corner is barely one month old and already it has become the talk of the town amongst the Asians. So it was off to see what the hype was all about and the following items were shared between only 3 of us Curry Fish with Rice $10.80 Curry Chicken with Rice $8.80 (best curry out of all!) Vegetable Curry with Rice $8 The nice lady at the counter gave us some beef curry to try because we polished off our bowls… 2 sets of Roti Canai $4.50 each (absolutely loved the crisp flatbread which was made on the spot when you order it so it was still piping hot) Teh Tarik (Hot/Cold) $3/$3.50 I thought the Roti Canai and the Teh Tariks were the highlights of this place. Didnt think the curries were spicy enough but I guess the tastes must have been adapted for the locals which did work judging from the crowds at lunch time The service was fast and very good as well! Nice lady at the counter was recommending items on t

This little joint is fast becoming one of my favourite eateries. It’s open late, it’s cheap and the food is so delicious! That Friday night (Barrio), whilst the trio of us were on our way to belt out some tunes in a private karaoke room on Hindley Street, we made a sudden pit stop at Mamak Corner cause it’s bright lights were still open and we were a little more than peckish by that stage. No complaints to a late night feed before exhausting a lung singing to Taylot Swift’s ‘You Belong To Me’. Psst! Check out their menu!! No more ‘coming soon’ stickers, the menu is complete!

There’s roti-tossing in the window, a small selection of curries, rice and noodles but my body craved something sweet and cold so cendol and roti tisu it was.

I feel a little like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. Not that I'm late for a date, more I am so far behind on posts that the Queen of Tarts may soon be after my head. Anyway, on a recent trip to Adelaide I was able to sample two different styles of cooking not necessarily normally associated with their countries of origin - Mamak food from Malaysia and Uyghur food from China. When most people think of Malaysian food they probably think of curry laksa or satays, but Mamak is a very common style of food in Malaysia. It's based on South Indian cuisine and is cheap, quick and tasty. Mamak stalls are often open 24 hours a day and while hygiene can be questionable their popularity is not. Mamak Corner brings the food and some of the ambience of an upper end Mamak cafe to Adelaide. It's fairly casual, with ordering done via an open space through which you can see the kitchen, and while it will never be considered a fine dining establishment it's bright, clean and well lit.
