Great place to eat & have a coffee stop
Will be back for sure
They make many of their own bit & pieces in house also
Great job again see you soon
Lovely coffee shop. Staff are lovely, always up for a chat and very friendly. Coffee is exceptional. Great atmosphere and beautiful surrounds
Great they open on public holiday! Nice coffee and hot cross bun. It was a lovely quiet location where I could talk to my friends. Friendly staff who would give us water! Not many staff would remember nowadays esp when you are so busy. Highly recommended.
Best food and coffee! Has such a good vibe and staff are friendly and helpful! Third time here and every time it's been great! Originally from Melbourne, this place reminds me a lot of home with the different types of dishes they serve and straying away from the norm!
We were in need of caffeine to start our day before we head off to a long day of wedding celebrations and didn’t felt like driving around searching for a cafe. As we were staying at The Watson, Local Grind was the perfect option. Based on the latte alone, we struck gold. The latte was rich and bold, and went down a treat. Perfect temperature too. So glad we gave them a try.
Really nice food but pretty over priced. Wasn't a vegetarian option for breakfast burgers which is okay, but price was the same even without meat so maybe they could reduce it a bit.
Yes yes yes. This is fast becoming my place to go for breakfast, coffee and baked goods. It's tucked away in walkerville and it's not a place that you would know about without word of mouth. Parking can be a bit of a pest as it is limited due to the apartment complex that it is located in. On a sunny day, the outdoor side area is a nice tranquil spot to sit and catch some rays while enjoying a tasty meal. It was recently one of the best breakfasts that I've had in a while. The fresh juice is spesh and you also need to hit up the pastry's.
I got the bircher muesli here, and of all the ones I've tried, I think Local Grind makes my favourite so far! Sometimes, bircher muesli can be very dry and bland despite the toppings, but here, it was very creamy without being soggy! The toppings added a lot of flavour and texture to the dish too, making it sweeter with a tangy-ness. The orange was also glazed which added that caramel-y crunch which I absolutely loved! The serving size was also generous, and filling!
I also loved the ambience of the cafe, and the little baked goods they have by the counter are super tasty too! I highly recommend trying them! The workers were also so nice and welcoming! Parking is super easy, you can park your car right in front of the cafe (you have to enter the car park through the same parking space for the apartment buildings FYI).
I ordered the Quinoa Salad (Fig and salmon salad with bocconcini, radicchio, orange, organic quinoa, lentil, and goats curd - $16) using UberEats. I was utmost impressed with the presentation of the dish. Given it was a delivery, I wasn't expecting any sort of fancy plating, but the box opened up to reveal a exquisitely arranged salad. Even the goats curd was pipped on into a neat little dollop.
The fig was beautifully ripe and tender, and the orange segments nice and juicy. The sweetness from the fruits paired wonderfully with the rest of the ingredients. The salad would benefit from the addition of a crunchy element; perhaps some sort of nut, but other than that I can't fault it.
The salad was a very generous serve and was quite a substantial meal due to the large amount of quinoa. Very good value for money.
Menu on zomato is outdated but I forgot to take a photo of the new one. Some nice options available and brunch till 3pm is great. Coffee was delicious, bbq corn and haloumi fritters were OK, albeit a little dry even with a mouthful of the Beetroot relish. Sweet potato chips were delicious and crunchy with a great aioli. Parking is a bitch because of the weird one way roads and hotel parking.
A couple of options are different from online menu compared to in store menu. Not a huge menu but still GF & Vegan options.
Doggo friendly with water outside and a place to latch the lead.
Food was good (although nearly needed a chainsaw to get through sourdough crust). Waffles looked delicious. Quite busy.
Attached to The Watson which has beautiful first nations art (worth a look).
Love this place. Have been many times. Had lunch there today. This is the lamb burger, so yum. My son had the chicken burger also great. Lovely to sit outside with my dog. Very friendly place 😊
Nice fresh bright space. Nice coffee and lots of lovely looking cakes on display. The meals were well presented and tasted lovely.
Like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly the Local Grind in Walkerville has recently thrown off its shackles, glammed up and changed its name.
I have no idea why new owners Paul & Lewis came up with "Lonely Hearts" but like everything else about this place it just works.
Those that haven't visited for a while will be struck by how large and bright the place looks now.
I visited again today and watched in envy as my wife's zucchini salad emerged. A lot of thought and love has gone into this dish which presents with all stages of zucchini from flower through to fully grown fruit. I snuck a taste when my wife wasn't looking....The sweetness is perfectly balanced by a highlight of crumbled fetta and the mint and snap peas bring with them a wonderful freshness.
For me I decided to take a risk and go straight for the steak tartare... put simply my previous three tartare experiences around the world have been below average. This one however broke that mold. The meat was top grade, finely chopped not minced and with just the right amount of horseradish, capers, creme and the most wonderfully crisp shoestring fries.... simply a delight to eat, I was left wanting more.
The standout however dates back to my previous visit two days earlier. Their fettucini with pork, fennel and broad beans took my breath away. Expertly cooked I was surprised by the delicately thin pasta, pork and above all the fresh dill that tied everything together and brought a wonderful earthiness to the dish.
So fortunate to have this place so close to home and open Friday and Saturday nights now too.
