Review Eating In Italy - Adelaide

Helen DAVIS
We have been going to Eating in Italy for many years and have always enjoyed the food. Today 2nd February 2019 we took a friend from N,.S,W, there for a light lunch. We all ordered the quiche with salad. It was the worst tasting quiche we all have ever eaten. After eating half of it we realised that it had not been cooked in the oven as the pastry was raw and the filling was sloppy. It had been heated in a microwave. We told the young waitress and she said that she would mention it to her Manager. We ordered three coffees, payed for them and eventually left after two hours. Not one person came to speak about our disgusting quiche, offer a refund, voucher or even an apology. It was embarrassing after telling a visitor from interstate that it was a nice little cafe. We will no longer be going there for a meal or a coffee.

Not sure if this once amazing place is under new ownership or management but the service is non existent . After sitting and waiting over ten minutes to have our order taken when there were hardly any other customers we simply gave up and walked out. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Love this place. Always good coffee and produce is fresh and never cut corners. Chefs are consistently good. Thanks so much!!

Used to be a good place for lunch. Menu has been depleted considerably. Nothing worthwhile to order, very bland tasting food. Won't be returning.

Very pleasant venue in the City, good coffee and friendly staff.

By far the worst Italian food I've had in Adelaide. Tortellini dish was not fresh and chicken parmigiana was just plain tasteless, dry and texture-less. I expected at least good coffee from an Italian restaurant but no, their coffee was bland and watered down. Overall very unhappy with my experience.

Had the most delicious meal at Eating In Italy recently! We chose Gamberi all a'glio and the prawns were cooked to perfection, sauce was so tasty - yum! The service was excellent and the friendly staff made it a pleasure to be there. This little cafe on North Terrace (back of Myer Centre) is away from the bustle of Rundle Mall and is quiet enough that we could have a conversation without the background noise interrupting. A great dining experience for dinner Friday night. We will definitely go back again.

Best Cafe/Restaurant. Love this place.
The coffee is amazing and drinks rock.
Great food. The chef won the dux at Regency a while ago. Its really comforting to know your eating good, hygenic food. The best thing about the place is it's so casual.

A great little find. We happened upon this little gem of a restaurant on our way to somewhere else! What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. Great food, great coffee and friendly service, we will definitely return!

Excellent. Wonderful service and delicious food! I have been back several times and the staff are always extremely friendly and have a big smile on their face. They always accommodate any things that I want different with my meal, and it always tastes good!

My partner and I really enjoyed our Tortellini Pasta and Squid dishes we ordered. Beautiful flavours. Staff is also very polite and helpful. Definitely going back!

Worse than fasta pasta. In this day and age it's kinda unacceptable to have crap food. We ordered just some garlic bread and penne chicken with rose sauce. I hate receiving a bowl full of basically just pasta, overcooked home brand penne and barely a trace of chicken in sight. There was flavour but just disappointing. Garlic bread was crap too. We didn't have a coupon like most of the reviews I just read, can't believe we paid full price for something that honestly didn't even have the standard of fasta pasta.

Breakfast. Great selection and good prices for this small italian caffe ; great service and good atmosphere

Not Bad. At this cafe, we got what we paid for. We had a scoopon voucher, and were relatively happy with what we received for the price we'd paid, but agreed that we wouldn't have been happy paying full price for the same food.

Big breakfasts are generally a little greasy, so I don't understand reviews complaining about this. The eggs were fried well, and still runny, the bacon was nice and quite generous, and the toast was fine - I probably would have preferred to butter it myself though. It maybe needed a little sausage, or some mushrooms to accompany the tomoato.

Coffee was nice, service was friendly, banana bread was moist and large enough to be considered a 'serve' (half a slice of banana loaf).

The service was prompt and location is nice and central.

Don't. Just don't.. I can't say anything positive about any aspect of the voucher breakfast that I purchased for Eating in Italy. Food or surly service. This was a real eyeopener for me as far as Urbanspoon reviews go... from now on I will read the reviews of high scoring restaurants Very Carefully. I'm pretty sure the positive reviews here were written or arranged by management. So sorry they didn't choose to honour this voucher with some effort to impress or even reach a middling standard!

When I purchase a scoopon I assume the business offering the deal is attempting to promote their business & encourage repeat customers. At eating in Italy they seem to want to do the opposite.
The deal included a big breakfast, coffee & banana bread for 2. I'd hardly call 2 eggs, some greasy bacon, half a cold tomato & 1 slice of toast (no butter), a big breakfast. Also they give you no choice of how you want your eggs, so slimy, greasy fried eggs it was!
The coffee was okay, but on the very small side. And the banana bread...it was only half a slice, was partially defrosted & overly sweet. We weren't asked if we wanted it toasted or even warm & were not offered butter. We were not asked if we'd like to add anything to our breakfasts either, although I'm glad they didn't as I'm sure I would have been disappointed.
The whole experience was very rushed & the customer service was minimal.
We will not be going back.

Amazing!

Give this one a miss. We made our first visit after buying an on line voucher. The booking was taken by someone in a hurry, who seemed to resent us using the voucher. The breakfast we got followed suit - no choice of how we wanted eggs cooked or bread type and additional items were expensive for what they were. Fried eggs came out cold (served on a cold plate with pre-buttered toast on the side) and resembled more the type of breakfast you would expect in a roadhouse. The deal included a serve of fresh banana bread - it was actually 1/2 a slice of stale banana bread each. Vouchers are an opportunity for an establishment to introduce themselves to new customers, not to make a easy buck. Our first and last visit.

Worth to try. Hidden location, nice food and ambience.
Affordable price and in the middle of CBD.

Breakfast was nothing like they advertise on the coupon websites. The coffee was sloppy, the poached eggs were cold and hard like they had been precooked... they sat us in an area away from the rest of the patrons and made us pay for an upgrade of $1 up front (acted like we would run off without paying our extra $2 between us). They were just plain rude, even when we did the polite thing and said thank you as we exited we were snubbed! Why put coupons on websites if you don't want patrons with coupons!!! I've been turned off of poached eggs thanks to this place!!

Was very good however my poached eggs where hard! Poached eggs are supposed to be nice and runny. Other than that everything was great!

Great breakfast. Tasty bacon crispy. Eggs runny but well cooked. Overall highly recommend. And the coffee is the best I have ever had in Adelaide.
Service was OK, they were busy (Sat morn) and meals were a bit slow but given the tasty food the slow service was forgotton.

Great breakfast!. Our breakfast was cooked to perfection and the service was real good and friendly. We used a scoopon voucher but would be very happy to pay full price for all we got any other time.
Pub Munch
Charmless, but good value. Couldn't fault the massive serves of gnocchi, but I get the feeling that this
Myer cafe offshoot hasn't had a critial management eye cast over it in a while. The atmosphere needs a massive overhaul - I'd add a touch of table decor, better wine glasses, clean the windows (and tint the ones that overlook the outside smokers nook on North Terrace), turn down the aircon (even our red wine was chilled!) and tidy up the benches behind the counter. I should be charging for this, shouldn't I?

My serve of gnocchi was sizable, and tasted good. For the price, the food is good value, and is a nice change from a pub lunch. Just needs someone with a bit more vision to show it some love.

Breakfast. I had a Scoopon and just did a walk-in for breakfast. I should have booked 24 hrs in advance, but they graciously gave me a table. The breakfast was excellent, the service was fast and friendly. They could have said no to my request and sent me away, but gladly accommodated me. I will gladly return for a meal and recommend and commend Eating in Italy. Thank you, I appreciate your acceptance of me without a booking.

I can't believe what I'm reading about this absolutely gorgeous, great tasting & friendly little cafe! I went for lunch the other day and the service was fantastic, the food was tasty and the coffee was amazing! Prices are affordable with main meals costing upto no more than $19.90. I'd recommend everyone to go in, relax, grab a coffee or some lunch and I guarantee you won't be disappointed!!

BAD BAD BAD. When i made reservation, the person who answer the phone who hand up on me. When i called again, I can hear they were laughing at the back.
Service was bad, food quality is not to standards.
would definitely no go back again even I don't need to pay for it.

Cudo coupon. I was very disappointed on the 2 occasions that I rang to book in for breakfast - on both occasions I was asked first if I had a coupon only to be told that they could not fit me in. Clearly there were places available if you were happy yo pay the full price and not use the coupon. A bad feeling, bad advertising, and I DEFINITELY wouldnt go there for a meal nor recommend to anyone. I have now lost my $s as the voucher has expired. Will make me think twice about using this method of trialling any other restaurants.

Scoopon Customer ..Good food but False Advertising. Booked for breakfast on Saturday 7th, originally was told that no scoopon bookings (not stated on voucher) were to be taken until after the 9th, but because there was only 2 of us he would squeeze us in. Arrived at 10am not many people there, the first thing we were told was the Scoopon advertised was a misprint (I beleive they should have honoured their deal)... they did not do "eggs to your liking "and had to pay extra if we did not want them fried. "Is this false Advertising" ??? ,, Overall the food was tasty, service was great and is was well worth the value of $19 for two people.
RunningSpoon
Disappointed with the penne boscaiola - it was bland and tasteless and service was a bit patchy. Wouldn't mind returning for coffee though.

I like their coffee. But their breakfast was disappointing. Maybe it was all the melted cheese on the foccacia that took away from the smoked salmon and eggs.

Real Italian cuisine served by brilliant Italian baristas

Overall, we are very happy to the service and food of this little Italian eatery. It is definitely a Friday dinner or lunch spot. Recommended! They say “Eating in Italy” in Adelaide and that’s why I love our multiculturalism so much!!!
