Review Ninh Kieu Mekong Restaurant - Adelaide

This place is amazing! Delicious food and crazy fast service considering how busy it was at the fringe last night. 100% will be back

I loved the Mekong spring rolls, they were very different, but fantastic. So I was looking forward to the main meal of Sizzling Spicy Pepper Sauce Seafood, well I was very unimpressed with it. It was very salty, the tiny pieces of squid & prawns (3prawns) were so overcooked it was unpleasantly tough, then there was this miniscule piece of scallop which was also overcooked & I don't even understand why they bothered adding it, thank goodness there were vegetables. I won't be going there again.

We shared two lunch specials, both came with steamed rice. Excellently priced. We indulged in the, sizzling cashew nuts basil with beef and mango sauce with chicken, and enjoyed both of them greatly. Service was very friendly and polite. The restaurant was clean and with a pleasant vibe. Well worth a visit for a meal. They also do takeaway 😊

Wonderful vietnamese restaurant right in the heart of Adelaide. Good foods with real vietnamese flavors, attentive staff, cosy atmosphere, reasonable price are all the highlights. Really love the place. Highly recommended.

Had chicken pho. It is really good. Beautifully flavoured chicken soup. Had a nose blowing experience (spicy if you take the chilli sauce). Definitely will have it again.

The taste of food was acceptable and the staff was friendly. But there were a lot of flies and they STICK ON OUR FOODS!! We killed some of them but some of them still stick on the food, like the lemon shown in the photo!!! This was a very bad experience. Their food tasted good just if you don’t mind to eat with flies, here is a good choice.

Wouldn't of even have them this rating of it allowed me. Staff was friendly, but waited over 50 minutes for entrees and when others were getting their meals who came in afterwards I questioned them. Sorry your order was missed placed, should be anther 20 minutes. WON'T RETURN Plenty other good restaurants that are more professional and caring.

quick service and total value for money lunch, good quality and authentic vietnamese food on rundle street that doesn't pinch the pocket. definitely recommend for a routine lunch or dinner

I thought I was going to set myself up for disappointment when I arrived, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed the food I ordered. It wasn't spectacular, but it's a place I would definitely dine at again - for the prices were fair, and the staff were some what attentive.

Good service and decent ambience but the food was lacklustre. The salt & pepper chicken lacked that zing I expected and the stock in the beef pho was bland.

I can see why a lot of people are not enticed to come in and check this place in comparison to the other eatries around the area. I must say, even though it lacks the appeal I was very pleased with the food. Everything we had was very tasty and refreshing. Love love the vermicelli salad bowl. I do recommend that you check it out. Cheap and tasty, what more can you ask. The service was an added bonus, friendly waitress.

The East end of Rundle St has always been filled with different cuisines but it's never had a Vietnamese restaurant until recently. Ninh Kieu is a new addition and it's nice to have another option on Rundle. Food is affordable... Taste is average. I had the chicken pho which was alright. Their salt and pepper eggplant was yummy.. I'll probably opt to try their other dishes the next time I visit this place.... Verdict so far : average

Omg! The best Vietnamese ever. I just landed in Adelaide and found this adorable restaurant in the City. All of foods are amazing and hard to find in Sydney. I highly recommend this restaurant for any Vietnamese food lovers and I definitely come back when I come here again.

Sat on outside tables, Very friendly staff, good service and the food came out fast.
The food was absolutely delicious, and worth the price! 🖒

Great value 'vietnamese' joint on Rundle street. Everything $13.50? Heck yes! One of the better bun xeo (Vietnamese pancakes) that I have had in Adelaide - I'm still on a quest to find the perfect crisp pancake that matches the amazing ones I had in Vietnam. Stir fried beef dish was fine, a little heavy handed but pleasant without being special. Will return if in the area thanks to value and speed of service.

If you need a good, reasonably priced, tasty, quick meal on Rundle Street then this place is for you. The cold rolls were a good size and had lots of filling and good herby taste. The pho was fine - not brilliant, not bad, just fine. Big size so very filling.

Nice find. Deciding what to have for a second dinner, as we already had a share platter previously that was so disappointing, at another venue, we were still hungry!

What caught our eye was the handwritten signs stating everything on the menu was $13.50 for the night! What? Everything? Too good to be true! So we went in.

Ordered the crispy duck in pepper sauce, normally $19.90 paid $13.50, this was a delicious generous dish, worth it even at full price. I was not expecting the duck to be deboned, but it was, extra fabulous. Also had the crispy fried barramundi in lychee and red curry sauce, this was cooked to perfection and was quite a large fillet, sauce good, a little thick, but flavoursome, again, normally $19.90 paid $13.50. The only small critique I would say about the fish dish is maybe the sauce should go on the bottom of the fish, so it stays crispy longer. I love the presentation of these dishes, served on modern crockery and attention to detail. All the other dishes that went past us looked great as well.

Well worth the visit, even at full price, will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Very friendly and down to earth service, generous portion, value for money. The seafood tom yum is sweet and yummy. Will be back to try the Pho.

Vietnamese food has been trending for a few years now, and it’s no surprise that one of the new kids on the block down the Rundle Street cafe precinct, serves up Vietnamese cuisine. They have a decent sized menu with 64 items to choose from. These range from entrees, soups, salads, grilled meats, wok tossed dishes, rice dishes, noodle soups and vermicelli noodle salads. As part of their opening special, no dishes were above $13.50.

The beef pho was so amazing. I have been stayed away Vietnam for a long time, but it's the first time I found the most authentic pho in Adelaide. The pad thai was that good too. Will be there again definitely!!

Had lunch here and it was great. Delicious food, for a cheap price on the lunch deals. Food came out quickly and was full of flavour and fresh.

I love pho in Australia. Im not sure what it is, whether it's having hot broth after cold weather, or maybe the quality of the meat and other fresh ingredients but it has always been fantastic. Until now. The rolls were very westernized (with cheese and capsicums for goodness sakes). Salt and pepper chicken was decent but the pho was a letdown. Hardly any taste in the broth. Generous with the beef but that didn't make up for the soup

Very nice meals, lots of fragrance, spice and generous portions. Decent beer and wine selection and friendly service. Don't listen to the naysayers, make up your own mind. Fresh!

My wife and I used to come there for luch over a month. We were there for dinner also it's last time!!!

Seriously I don't understand why they gave the menu after 20 minutes. My meals were terrible. They looked not fresh at all. And my wife and I got stomachache after tried Bun Bowls. When i came to the counter to get the bill. The old lady missed my bill . It was silly...... omg I will never come back again!!!
What's Cooking Good Looking
Cold rolls were pretty ordinary but filling enough if one was hungry which I was. Peanut sauce needs reviewing. Service was good. Friend had chicken pho - broth good but way too many noodles

Absolutely brilliant, great food, friendly and happy service. A great family small business. Couldn't fault anything. The salt and pepper soft shell crab was a stand out.

Absolutely authentic Vietnamese fare - the owners are from Can Tho in the Mekong Delta - where the produce is amazing. The fish sauce is absolutely home made and 100% genuine - and the Vietnamese Iced Coffee is the Trung Nguyen variety - exactly how I have tasted it in Ho Chi Minh......superb!

Servings are ample and the price unbelievably good - with great service.
