Review Taste Baguette - Adelaide

Lovely friendly, and especially obliging service (4xginger, no questions or charge!) Excellent coffee, and beautifully crisp fresh croissant - no need to heat or anything! Perfect!!!! Fresh juice was excellent too!! Would be one of my regular haunts in Adelaide - for sure!!

Great selection of fresh baked baguettes, I have mine toasted and the presentation is amazing and tastes just as good

An underrated City nook. Staff are amazingly friendly and very much on the ball. Coffee is one of the best tasting in the city IMHO (although that's incredibly subjective), and their pastries are great for a snack, or try a home made fresh pork mince sausage roll for something more interesting! Love this place. A staple of my mornings.

Ordered flat white and received warm milk only. After 4 PM they believe customer should not be served properly. Refused to provide cutlery for cake....just shoved it in bag and said we will be closing....at 4.05pm come on people.

Yesterday, my friends and I were having a break studying at uni so we decided to get a coffee. My friend ordered a soy iced latte with a shot of vanilla because she was lactose intolerant. Soon after she had received her coffee and she had realised it had normal milk instead. This wasn't the bad part because people make mistakes right? So she went over and told the barista who made her coffee that he had made a mistake, but he had ignored her because he was talking to another customer. So she went to another barista who was also working and told him. So he asked who made the coffee and the guy said "I did it." And she said "I asked for soy." And he replied "I didnt hear it." Following that they completely disregarded her and mocked the fact that she had asked for a soy latte. What great customer service. They didn't even apologize and ask to remake her coffee.

Rating the poor service and the apathetic attitude of a staff. Bought a water bottle and asked for a paper cup which he refused to give away for whatever the dumb reason was. I should’ve canceled the purchase and go next door. I will in the futur. Congratulations 👍🏻

Today i found a cockroach in my food here, i never post food reviews, this is probably my first one, the food quality here is absolutely disgusting, my only regret is not clicking the photo before returning it. Don't fall for the 50% discount after 4pm, its pretty clear how they are cutting their cost.

Was mesmerised by their pastry cabinet. Went for an almond croissant and a coffee. Both were delightfully pleasing. Will go again and recommend to passerbys.

Coming here, I don't know why but I imagined that they are serving authentic Vietnamese rolls but alas they don't. The pork roll that we had was tasty but not amazing. The filling was pretty small too. I don't think I will go back anytime soon.

First time in Adelaide and stumbled upon this gorgeous little cafe. Earthy and cosy interior, friendly and efficient service, amazing pricing. Juice was spot on, well-made coffee from Campos and we loved the baby danishes. Can't fault it!

Awesome coffee with an array of milks to choose from! Danishes and baguettes are delicious and reasonably priced! Always great service with a smile :)

Awesome coffee, I am always here for food and snacks when i have breaks at uni. Wedges and fries are awesome, wish they would give us more sauce, sour cream and sweet chilli though!!

This is by far the best pastry in Adelaide. I believe I know a bit about it as I've tasted many French style pastries all over Europe, as well as in Japan where they know how to do those. My son is a pastry chef in fine dining (Dan Hunter, Frantzen in Sweden) and boy, this cafe here tops it! They're a bit hidden away and if you tell the baker how good he is, he's embarrassed and humble. Prices are incredible! Coffee is good and from sustainable sources. Not a lot of breakfast offers as its a really small place their baguettes are sensational and their staff friendly. Thank you to Taste!

Amazing coffee and top notch service. Too many pastries to choose from and they all look so delicious. Lovely little cafe with nice interior.

First impression. They made my latte in a cappuccino cup......................
Reviewemailadelaide
Terrible effort for a "boutique" place. The disappointing thing here, is the effort. They have a lovely decor and good setup but unfortunately the effort put into making coffee is terrible. The coffees are made with haste. The milk jugs are not cleaned before each milk froth. There is no technique to texturing, and the milk is simply dumped into the cup and handed to the customer. No effort is made to produce a well textured coffee. This is worse barista skills than almost any place I've seen. With the opening of other coffee houses and little cafes in Adelaide, it will only be a matter of time before this place shuts down. I laughed when I saw the photos of the coffees on urban spoon. There is no way the barista even made an effort to create any microfoam at all let alone do any attempt at latte art. The taste was average, due to the milk being mixed in with other stale milk, which I saw used over and over again, despite a milk cleaning station right next to the coffee machine. I feel sorry for the owners of this cafe. But at the end of the day, they obviously don't care enough to train their staff.

Unfortunately the other thing about this place is the "too cool" vibe the staff give out to their customers. I watched as they acted like they were doing each customer a huge favour by making them a coffee.

I predict...another business going bust in a matter of months.

Poor service, bad coffee, charged extra to eat in. My husband and I went to Taste Baguette this morning for a light breakfast. We noted they had a special for a coffee and a pastry for $6. We both ordered a small pastry, my husband got a piccolo latte and I got a cappuccino. When the girl rang the order up she charged us extra and when my husband questioned it we were being charged extra to eat in! When our order was bought to our table it was dumped unceremoniously on our table without so much as a word and when my husband looked questioningly at the waitress she said "it is yours right?" and walked off. The pastries were less than fresh and the coffee bitter and unpleasant. With so many amazing coffee and pastry places in Adelaide we will definitely not be returning!

I've never had the coffee from here but the bread at this place is AMAZING!!! They have a range of baguettes on sale for lunch (delicious) but I just love that you can buy the fresh long baguettes daily and they are crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside - they are addictively good and perfect with some soup or to make your lunch at home. They also do a good (although very sweet) caramel slice.

No good any more... This place is no good since the previous manager left and started his own place. Food is still ok but don't get a coffee here.

EXCELLENT. I love this place. I go here every morning to buy my chai latte. Friendly staff everyday. Love the food and smoothies also. 5 stars :)

Great coffee but.... I have strolled past this hole in the wall bakery many times and this morning ins earch of coffee I ventured in. They had a fabulous aray of pateries and cakes in the window, which all looked nice although I did not try.
I ordered coffee, and was ready suprisingly quick given the few people waiting ahead of me. Lovely coffee. BUT, not what I ordered! the lady although friendly asked did I have suga, after calling out an inaudible name that noone had responded to, to which I replied 'No'. I was then handed a coffee and I was on my way. The cup felt a bit light and to my disappointment, when I took off the lid, it wasn't full, only to take a sip and realise that not only is it less then I expected, it also has sugar. I look at the cup for my name (which was written on it with the order) to see not my name but a man's name. No point going back. Perhaps, it's a petty gripe. But, for first thing in the morning and only craving a good coffee, I was left feeling a little lack lustre and to be honest, I think next time I will continue strolling past.

One of the best coffees in Adelaide. Delicious breads and pastries.
Service is surprisingly slow even when it is not busy.
There are quite a few places in Adelaide that see themselves as 'dismissive cool'. Problem is: they see themselves as cool. We just get the dismissive part.
I still come here when I am in Adelaide as it has a good sitting area out the back with good music playing. And because it is better than eating in the hotel I stay in nearby.

Don't bother. I am adding this review here although I note there are two listings for the same Bakery so... I just wanted to say I visited there for the first time today. It was an atmosphere of slight incompetence, with the staff appearing to have a youthful laissez-faire attitude to getting the job done. Some customers waiting for take aways didn't seem to mind and I think they enjoyed it. I did not. I was just waiting to order a pastry to take away - an escargot - but I felt like I was forgotten and there was no discernible method to place an order except hope someone sees me. I felt like I was interrupting the flow of things because the barista had to take my order and my payment because there were no other staff about. It was just awkward.
Anyhoo - to the escargot! Fail! As soon as I felt how heavy it was my expectations dropped. This thing was like eating a yeast bun. If you like Dough in the markets and Red Door in Hyde Park/Croydon you will be disappointed with the escargot here. I couldn't finish it. I won't be bothered going back.

Bad Experience!. I just went in this cafe, ordered a toast and coffee... toast came out after 5 minutes and coffee took another 7 minutes - Toast went cold and the guy that came after me got his coffee before mine. Will not go there again. This is a deal breaker for me if you cannot get a simple coffee & toast deal right. 12 minutes for a coffee is a long time to wait when it is not even busy in there! Alot of chit-chat between the workers, which delayed the coffee even longer. It's a nice little shop but my money is better spent elsewhere to a place that deserves it.

They've got their pastry right. They could wrap anything in it and it would taste good

Best place on rundle!!. BEST tasting mocha and coffee I have had in a while. Good food too. And always greeted with a smile. I love this place!!

Pastries. The pastries are the best I have found in Adelaide. Hot chocolate made with chocolate. All good.

Good pastries, great coffee. Not sure what all the others on here are having a whinge about. Have started going here since they opened. The Toby's Estate beans have meant a smooth, delicious coffee every time. The pastries taste great, and for $6.50 for a coffee and a danish in the morning, what a deal!

The best thing about this place though is the staff - they are genuinely friendly and are trying hard. Avoid Cibo's next door and grab a drink from these guys.

Nailed it. The tiny establishment offers what it looks to offer. The interior is indie in style and has a modern, rustic feel. staff were personable and happy to interact, but got on with business when it got busy

What a shame!. From the outset this place looks adorable and to have great potential. Shame about the barrister more interested in checking his phone than making our coffees! We ordered three coffees, a simple order I thought, we received the first, five minutes later the second comes, and the third, well we patiently waited 10 more minutes before getting up to leave. At this point the barrister who clearly had filled later orders loudly proclaims “but it’s ready.” Too late buddy I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Best coffee in Adelaide. We had been looking for a good coffee since arriving in Adelaide. Every other corner had the Cibo chain and we found a few other variable cafes. We thought we might be onto a winner with this one just from the look of it. Sydney/Melbourne chic with a hole in the wall approach. A small courtyard out the back was funky with great music. The house blend was great and they also sell a selection of single origin beans. The artisan bread looked good but we sampled a croissant and chocolate brownie. Both were delicious. My only issue was there was no milkshake option for our 6 year old.

Delicious coffee, pastries were yummy, service a bit hit & miss.

What a start to a day. Saturday morning, smiling faces, great music and coffee and pastries to die for. Well done guys - what a delight!

Artisan??. As a worker on Rundle St my co-workers and I rejoiced at the thought of finally having a quality bakery on the strip, only a few doors down from us no less! Anyone who frequents the area will know sub $10 lunches are becoming less and less common. A fresh baguette fills that niche well!

The good? The staff are all great people, they know what they need to do and they make a point of building rapport with their patrons. I had the smoked salmon baguette and a slice of banana bread. The baguette was small and not overly filling but it was tasty and the bread was fresh. The banana bread was moist and paired with the baguette was a well rounded and satisfying lunch. Total was around $12

The servings were small which works well as a light lunch or for those wanting to try a baguette and a pastry but the cost stacks up quickly here. The prices (coffee in particular) were too high for the product delivered for me to be a regular patron but the main bump I can't get over is the marketing! Taste on Rundle is part of an expanding franchise that started in Sydney. The products they serve simply do not represent their claim as an artisan bakery. They offer nice options but banana bread and baguettes are not artisan products. I don't have a problem with franchises but we have too many locally developed cafes within walking distance that are great for coffees and light lunches. Hey Jupiter, Horner & Pratt, Howling Owl and Sad are all a step ahead in my eyes.

Artisan my A. For a place that claims to be an artisan bakery the tart we had tasted like it had been sitting in fridge for a weeks he custard had a fake vanilla taste the bread tasted stale and the croissant didnt taste like it was made with butter and coffee was bitter .This place is full of style but lacks any substance if I was them I would remove the words artisan bakery because its not

So, in conclusion, will I recommend this place? Well I wouldn't mind going there again but I will stick to a cup of coffee and a baguette dish that will not require me to use any utensils. And I will skip all the pastries and stick to the baguettes. Please work on the hygiene part, I love your location, interior design, coffee, and baguette.

I’ve walked past this place on many occasions without really knowing what it was. The exterior of the store is dark and the signage is not clearly visible unless you’re up close.
Cuptaste
The consensus was that our latte’s didn’t have enough coffee taste, one reviewer said the coffee didn’t have an overly milky taste, it just lacked the coffee taste. The colour of the coffee appeared pale. Some other comments, dry aftertaste – slight over extraction, too milky and too hot, dominant chalky milk aftertaste, Malty, dry cocoa – milk chocolate in first sip. No dominant flavour in coffee. - See more at: http://cuptaste.com/au/taste-on-rundle-coffee-review/#sthash.ZKenSpll.dpuf

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants on Adelaide's busy Rundle Street. I remembered seeing boards around this cafe before it opened. I wondered what was going to be there, and there it was - Artisan Bakery and Cafe. There was a rustic look to this cafe, somewhat it doesn't look like one.

Walking along Rundle Street I (PacMan) notice that there is a little industrial looking hole in the wall eatery which immediately intrigues me - so what else to do but go in and see what is on offer. Taste on Rundle is an artisan bakery who had its Adelaide roots based at Adelaide University and have now branched out onto Rundle Street. I speak to the manager who mentions that they have only been at their new location for 3 weeks (at the time of my visit). From the outside you are greeted with a window of pastries and baguettes which makes your mind wander trying to work out what to eat. Interior of Taste on Rundle The barista at work I ask one of the staff what their favourite sweet/pastry is and I am immediately recommended the lemon tart. Looking at the window display I see that there is only one of these left - that must be a good sign...right?
