Review Ricky's Kitchen - Adelaide

Don’t pay attention to the older google reviews, they’re old and dated. This restaurant is fast, efficient, cheap and offers a great range of wet or dry noodles accompanied but awesome meats such as roast pork, bbq pork and roast duck. The most expensive plate is $13.80 which is a combination and all dishes come with some greens and a side bowl of broth.

Malaysian cuisine- Quick no thrill budget eatery. I like that you get to select the type of noodle when ordering any of the noodle dishes. Food servings are just right and tastes great. The green sauce is the best. Staff are quick and friendly. Ordering at the counter is always easier when the pictures menu board look good. Ticket waiting system, so don’t sit too far in the the food court while waiting for your number to be called out. Toilets located in food court.

I think this is a good place for people on a budget. In general, Southern Cross Arcade is a great place for cheap food and Ricky's has a good range of Asian food for 10 bucks. However, that doesn't mean the food is very good. It's very simple with not much flavor. Also parts of my duck were actually cold. But I was hungry and I ate it all. You pay for what you get but I'd rather spend 2 dollars more at somewhere else and get a better noodle dish.

I loved the tossed egg noodles here and I am so sad they are no longer open. Does anyone know where they have moved to or where else I could have their delicious tossed egg noodle. It reminded me of home.

Used to love their food for years especially roast duck Noodle soup and Fried chicken rice but it's over now. The quality and quantity became less.

Very nice food. I had the roast duck with tossed noodles, the sauces are great:) Good lunch choice in the city.

My tender soya duck that I had this morning was delicious. It was full of flavour and well cooked. Will be a regular stop for lunch in the future.

Delicious and cheap. Very good and fast service. A wide variety menu. Love the bbq pork.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
What an amazing little Chinese soup shop in a busy food court in Adelaide.

I had a mix of chicken and duck with fried noodles. It was tasty and an amazing size for 10.90

This is the best restaurant in the whole city. It serves fresh and delicious foods and I recommend you go there and eat for lunch or dinner

No longer run by the original Ricky, but still a decent feed. Slight changes, like replacing cucumber with beans in the chicken rice make a noticeable difference.

Ricky specialises in duck, chicken and pork. My favourite is the fragrant duck with noodles and soup - however, I recently tried their fragrant beef noodle soup. The beef was so tender and delicious, great broth and your choice of noodles. A great lunch.

Lunchtime staple in the city. Red sauce green sauce feels a bit watered down, but who cares!
Great every time, and the green beans on the side.. why I don't know... are just perfect!

Love the crispy skin pork and rice, tasty and affordable at the same time. Can't get this anywhere else.... They can even make combinations... 😁

Excellent food, I love the crispy skin pork and chicken with their special sauces. They can do a combination of meat as well without extra charge. A great place to eat at lunch if work in the city. I really enjoy their noodle soup in winter and their noodles in sauce in summer. Keep up the good work:)

Rubbish food and just plain rude!. Very disappointed with my experience today after having eaten at this owner's shop at Chinatown before he sold business and open up shop southerncross food court. Iordered a roast duck noodle soup 11.30 and waited patiently for my food only to be served with a bowl of egg noodles with a whole lot of duck off cuts and bones-not a single decent piece of meat! When the girl took my order she asked if I was ok with eating bones- I said yes as I didn't fuss and took it as would I like the meat de-boned like what some places offer. I was very dis heartened to say the least as I felt like I was getting served dog food for $10.50 per bowl whilst others paid the same and got a proper meal. Anyway I took my bowl back and asked the girl if this is what is usually served to customers- I didn't yell or make a scene. Had the answe been yes I would have just accepted and never return but they gave me a spill of duck being a bony meat and you get lots of bones with duck....ummm...I ain't stupid I've had this dish countless times at other places and never have I been served such rubbish. You either get a leg or breast meat with your noodles. I got neither. The cook then chops up a few pieces of breast meat flattens it out dumps it in my bowl and gave me a lecture about I should have asked for more meat when I made my order... Ummmm.....I shouldn't have to ask and have never had to ask before anywhere else and I wouldn't be standing at your counter complaining if you didn't serve me absolute crap it really was offensive to think that he could dish that out to me and think it was ok. Needless to say when he went on to say if you don't like it then take your money back I kindly asked for it back and took my business next door where I got a tasty hainanese chicken rice in1/3 the time for only $8.50....Felt so sorry for that served me she knew it wasn't right too as she snuck me a sorry as she handed me back my money....I'm Asian btw.....not sure if coincidence or not as most Asians would've just taken it as bad luck and not speak up...sorry mate you chose the wrong Asian girl. I'm not demanding but I will ask if something is not right after all my money is worth as much as any to paying customer!

Excellent food.. Heard a lot of Ricky's kitchen on our first visit to Adelaide, out of the 4 days we are there, Ricky's kitchen was closed on the first 3 days we were there due to Easter holidays but eventually managed to visit his shop on our last day and even that we we late as we thought he open till 4pm but by 3pm, all his food was gone. Ricky was nice enough to cook up 2 plates of dried noodles with chicken and duck meat, which was very delicious with good authentic taste. We can't find this quality of food here in Brisbane as far as we know and we have tried out most places here in Brissy.

Very disappointing experience! Always liked Ricky's food, but the service today is rather disappointing. Owner of the shop was making racist comment towards Asian customers, as the owner himself is Asian. Treating different customers in different manner. I'm so very disappointed, was actually want to take some friends to try, but today's experience from the owner was unpleasant and don't think will go back again.

Seriously delicious, however the portion sizes are too small. I can't be mad at Ricky though, the food is too good!

The hainnese chicken rice was quite good. Cheap and tasty!

A very disappointing lunch. Today I was feeling adventurous and decided to go for something I haven't yet tried in the southern cross foodcourt.... Rickys kitchen it is. the open kitchen actually displays all the bbq meats through a glass enclosure and from experience, the crispy skin pork looked to be the best so I ordered that to go with rice, paid 7.90 dollars. I was shocked with what I received... Which was a bowl of over cooked rice, doused with diluted soy and the worst of all, tiny tiny pieces of pork. I looked at the picture and what I was served, it looks nothing like that at all. I felt like my money was cheated. Even for foodcourt this is way low. I could fit a whole mckers large meal right after I had that. I don't kno if they ran out of pork or not but quite frankly u should just sell all of them in normal portions and just say it is sold out. This is not honest business at all. Verdict:disappointed, shocked, avoid.

Take a long lunch break. The food at Ricky's Kitchen is good enough. Simple pork/chicken/duck combinations served with rice, noodles or soup. But it's not reasonable to wait half an hour for what's basically pre-cooked pork chopped up and scattered on noodles that take less than a minute to heat and sauce. Okay if you're not in a hurry to get back to work, but half an hour is too long for any meal in a food court.

Ricky is the food court king. Authentic quality Asian street food in a CBD food court?

Yes it is possible.

Go to Rickys to find out how.

This place takes food court food to the next level! Definitely worth checking out!
