Review Singapore Delights - Adelaide

We had the seafood rice, hiananese chicken, chicken tofu laksa. Was a very enjoyable meal.

Big shout out to the mean, stingey, rude Asian lady at Singapore Delights. After buying a $14.90 noodle meal (for which I was encouraged to pay cash) she reluctantly gave me few drips of soy sauce and a speck of chopped chillies. It was such a meagre amount they hardly made a difference to the taste. Then charged $3 for water (equivalent to $5 per litre - petrol is only $2.20!). But the kicker was when I later asked her for a take away container she wanted to charge me an extra 50c. Talk about customer focus, it was all bad!! Meal was pretty ordinary as well. There are plenty of other food outlets in this plaza and I'd suggest you prefer them as this was not a 'Singapore delight' at all.

I have been coming here for years, back when they were located at the central markets. The meals are always brilliant! Can’t recommend them enough!!! Try the wonton noodle soup, you’ll not be disappointed :)

I remember Singapore Delights in the old chinatown foodcourt from when I was a kid - best shop in the foodcourt. Many years later now in Rundle Mall, and still the best shop in the foodcourt. Chicken rice and sup gai hor (stir fried chicken rice noodle) are the best 👍so glad these guys are still around ❤️

Rediscovered this outlet after many years. I had the Lor Mee and fish ball noodles, both taste good to what you will get in Singapore but the Lor Mee just lacking the vinegar and chilli but still taste good enough with the thick smooth gravy. On the subsequent visit we had the Laksa and Wanton dry noodles, which also hits the spot. Will try the Char Kuay Teow next time that a friend highly recommend.

The food was great, but please change a larger menu, I cannot see the words on that out of the front table.

Horrible service, the staff served my wife is very rude. Worst BBQ pork rice I’ve tried so far in Adelaide. The nearby nanyang cafe is 10 times better in terms of food quality and service. Would never come back again

So disappointed with my mother's treatment at Singapore Delight's today!! My mother went to Singapore Delights in the Adelaide Central Plaza (in the David Jones foodcourt) at approximately 4.45pm today. She ordered a kway teow, paid with a $50 note, and received approximately $35 change. She said the food was lovely, so she went back and ordered 2 x take away noodles (1 x kway teow and 1 x hokkien noodles) for approximately $30 (she paid in cash with a $20 note and a $10 note, her change from the first order). It was not a busy period, and there were only 2 other customers during this time. The lady who served her only brought the hokkien noodles to her table. My mum queried where the kway teow was and the lady told her that she had only purchased 1 x noodles. My mum explained that she definitely ordered 2 x noodles and had paid $30. The lady said that she only wrote down an order for 1 noodles and refused to give my mother the kway teow she had ordered, as my mother didn't have a receipt (as she paid in cash and was never offered a receipt). My mother was so upset!! Absolutely disgusting treatment. The lady did not even consider counting the til, which would have shown extra money, or consider that she had incorrectly recorded my mum's order. My mother is lovely, well-spoken, presentable professional who clearly wasn't trying to scam $15 of noodles! I can't believe they did not just concede that they may have been wrong and give the poor, old lady the noodles that would have cost them about $2 to make! Shame on you!!

The chicken was not bad and price was reasonable, while the cashier was not that polite and I don't like it

The young Chinese cashier was quite rude when she gave me the wrong change. I explained to her and she gave me the correct change by slamming coins on the table without any apology. This is not my first time ordering here, but definitely will be the last time.

This place is located downstairs of David Jones. I came here for lunch and was craving for something Asian. I really want Hor Fun and chosen to eat the seafood. They also had it with chicken . After ordering, they give you a buzzer and when your order is ready it beeps continously signaling that your food is all set to be picked up. The portion of the food is huge. The food tasty OK. I might go back again, but will try the other dishes next time. As for the service, it was quick.

Food: Laksa was average. Not spicy enough and the broth lacked flavour. Adequate prawns and chicken. I have high expectations though since I often eat Laksa in Malaysia.
Ambience: Quiet food court.
Service: Fast and friendly.
Tips: Try another dish next time.

Singapore Delights have moved to 18 Lower Ground, Adelaide Central Plaza, 100 Rundle Mall, ADELAIDE SA 5000. It's due to open in mid December underneath DAVID JONES Department Store. Kindly pass this on to fellow food lovers. Great to be back cooking for you. The old store at Central Market had closed due to reconstructions. Cheers!

Been coming here for many years on a Friday night. Best Fried Kway Teow around. Beef Hor Fun is another favorite. Hopefully you guys will find a new place once you close at the end of this month. Lee up the good work.

Food heated with Microwave. Asked for chicken and rice. Have the woman that served you repeat chicken several times. Then get charged too much. When asked why you're paying a $1 more, you're told its because you're taking it away. Despite a sign that says takeaway is 50 cents more. Then they present you with a container of pork and rice. Not what I ordered. She apologises doesn't offer to refund the extra that I paid for something I didn't want.

THEN she goes to the fridge at the back of the shop and MICROWAVES some chicken out of the fridge. Dumps it on top of the rice after removing the pork and then gives it to me.

Why would anyone bother with a restaurant/take away or anything else for that matter that microwaved their food. While I was standing there I noticed that he stove was used to heat noodles in the work but little else. It seems that more is microwaved here than cooked fresh. Who knows how long that chicken has sat in their fridge. Oh and the pork didn't go in the bin, it went back on the plate the chicken came from and was put back in the fridge!

Microwaved food and suspect food handling. Stay away.

Must try. The best Loh Mee you even get in Australia, it bring back memory of Singapore hawker food
