Review Spice Shot - Adelaide

Koalafood clan
Food was good but somewhat different to previous? Changed chefs or owner? There were capsicum added to all 5 of our curries including butter chicken which was a bit odd texture wise. Naan bread was very flat and didn’t have that chew texture to it. We ordered Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala (chicken wasn’t very “tandoori’d”), goat curry, eggplant & potato curry & lamb spinach. The “large” rice serve is enough for 1-2 people only.

I’m always sceptical when someone claims to be the best at a particular cuisine, but Spice Shot exceeded my expectations and we had a very tasty and enjoyable dinner here last night. The garlic naan was probably the best I’ve had in Adelaide. The bread was light, fluffy and cooked to perfection. It was the perfect accompaniment to dip into their delicious curries. We really enjoyed the Alu Baigan Eggplant and Tandoor Chicken Tikka Masala curries. The chicken was beautifully marinated, tender and juicy. We also ordered the Kashmiri Malai Kofta and Beef Korma which were also good, but not as stand out as the former two dishes. The lamb briyani was just okay as the lamb was a little tough. I’d order naan over the briyani for sure. The service was also friendly, quick and attentive. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

For the first time, a restaurant was aware of our Fork booking without needing a long winded explanation of what it was; they even got our booking name right! We had the Chicken Shashlik, Goat Masala, Garlic Cheese Naan and Saffron rice. All the dishes were very tasty and delicious and very well cooked. The chicken had a good char on it yet was still juicy and paired well with the mint sauce that provided a slight tanginess. The goat dish had a good kick to it but wasn't to the extent that it was offensive; it was also very well cooked - it wasn't too soft but still easily came off the bone. It was creamy without being too rich and had a good tomato-ey and peppery punch. Service was top notch (and one of the best we've come across for Fork bookings) as we were attended to every step of the way. Food was quick to be served even though there were a couple of orders in front of us and the staff were very attentive and friendly. All in all we had a great night as we entered and ate happily and exited feeling even happier (and well fed). Give this place a try if you haven't already; we will definitely be back for seconds ourselves.

Good food, good service, helpful staff. Very inviting atmosphere and children/family friendly. The menu has a variety of authentic dishes but now also has an updated sizzler revolution menu, everything serve on sizzling plate. Prices are reasonable, great servings. Non Indian meals available for kids too. You can also order from the cafe menu too which has the liquidity nitrogen ice cream range. Rest rooms in need of some attention though.

Tried a couple of vege dishes and loved them. The garlic cheese naan is also nice. I think we will return but will go with the normal rice instead of the Vega Biryani. Finally getting 40% off from the Fork is absolutely a steal.

This restaurant is located in Henley Beach Rd and is quite easy to find and parking available in the backside of the restaurant. The ambiance was great and the staff and chef were very friendly. Overall the food was amazing and the presentation was up to the mark. I would highly recommend this restaurant to people who love slight innovation to their food. The best part is you can ask the chef to make few changes to your dish and can ask to make something out of the menu.

I had gone to the mile end Spice shot 2.0 recently with family. I was shocked with extremely poor quality of food . We had ordered tandoori platter. It had no taste , was tasting burnt , and with oodles of red food colour. The prawns were chewy and did not appear fresh. Same with the paneer tikka ( burnt and tasteless).
After the previous owner sold the restaurant, the quality has gone to the dogs. I would not go there again

Excellent service, delicious food and reasonable prices. The decor is fantastic and the place has a great vibe. There was a cable along the floor where our table was ( a bit unsafe), and the sizzling brownie actually tastes a little bit burnt, but would still recommend and visit again

The restaurant is not at Magill as shows on Zomato

A honest review..Spice Shot 2.0

I have been to the place earlier in Magill couple of times but now went to the Henley Beach road.

To begin with the good, I was in touch with the restaurant weeks back as I planned my wedding anniversary dinner yesterday at the place

The staff especially the Chennai boy is affable with a smile on his face while the other guy is serious. The food is a variety if you want to look beyond the cliched butter chicken n paneers..It’s a warm cosy place that offers parking n u have spots around also to park. The Pan Kulfi is a delight. The Apollo fish is very good including the gravies. The prices are reasonable.

I have got restaurants around but went to the place for the variety it offers.

The restaurant space is as good as the old one..not very big but decent with some graffiti.

Since the event was personal n 15 years of matrimony, expected it to be a bit special with a pomphret or kingfish but it’s better to order a week ago if you feel like as they couldn’t provide. Knowing that it’s a special day would have been great if we had a welcome drink as a compliment or as proactive on messages even if the owner had come out for a second to greet, would have felt better.

Asked the bartender who had no clue about the reservation or my communication,,typical desi response.

The Manchurian could be better cooked. Death by cheese nan had the last slice filled with cheese, rest all pieces tasted normal but cheesy.

Wife felt that it was a usual dinner n Ofcourse hoped for fresh fish..

With my experiences with a lot of restaurants, if someone decides to come a bit far to celebrate a special day, I would personalise it a bit as a restaurateur.

Rest all satisfactory but could be better👍
After living in the UK, I've been searching high and low throughout Australia to find a restaurant that serves Pasanda and I have finally found it. Their death by cheese naan was thoroughly enjoyed.

We looked forward to trying this restaurant last night using our Scoopon Voucher. Sadly our experience was not great. The nicely set table, clean restaurant area, comfortable warm heating, and delicious shared entree of samosa and fish amaritsa, was a pleasant start. Our Thali main course was well presented, but took a very long time to be served, and only came with one piece of naan bread instead of two (as stated in the scoopon deal). The bite-sized samples of curries were okay, but nothing tasted good enough to make me want some more. In particular, the beef in the vindaloo was dry and the sauce was overpowered with uncooked paprika. My partner and I shared the one naan, but it wasn’t enough to go with the curries on our Tahli plates, so we had to ask for the other one. The waiter apologised for this. That second naan then took a very long time to be served and so our curries got cold while we had to wait. Aside from the scoopon meal deal. We also ordered a Navrattan Korma for our young child to eat (knowing the he would like the fruits and nuts in it). However, we got given a regular vegetable korma without any fruits and nuts. We asked the waiter about this. He checked with the chef, Then came and told us that the chef said that “the fruits and nuts were blended into the sauce”. We are certain that this was NOT TRUE, as it didn’t appear or taste any different to the plain vegetable kormas on our tahli plates, the sauce was more ‘liquidy’ than expected, and any other navrattan korma that I have eaten in Australia or India has included pieces of dried fruits, fresh fruits and whole nuts. The dish is also described in their own menu in this way. We didn’t bother saying anything more about it to the waiter though, as we could see that it would not have been useful and we did not wish to upset the chef. After all, we were still waiting for our other food.
With many other Indian restaurants nearby to choose from, unfortunately I will not be returning to Spice Shot after my experience there.

Been to Spice Shot on 9April18. Spice Shot was running some Chinese specials for 7$ for each dish. Food was simply Delicious and had good Indo-chinese food after real long time. But only issue was the QUANTITY. It was not a proper portion and felt bit cheated on that.. and finally land up paying the same amount when u order from A- La-Carte as u need to order twice.
Overall positive feedback. Polite Staff, Good Sitting Inside.Ample street parking.

The curse of this location has been lifted. Ordered takeaway tonight and it was excellent. Very impressed! Butter chicken, beef madras and cheese naan were fantastic!

Fantastic Indian in eastern suburbs! I didn't know what to expect from these guys as the past two places at this location were not up to scratch. But I have to say these guys completely blew me out of the water with their flavours and spices. 10/10

Amazing food. . When you are the chef at your own restaurant your dream transcends into the food you cook and serve and the taste is its proof. I think this restaurant has nailed my statement.. we had dinner with friends and family last night and the food was so good that i can still feel it.. seriously! Finally this restaurant brings a refreshing change to the Adelaide market where it changes the same boring taste of the same menu served in pretty much all the Indian restaurants. If we were living anywhere close to this place we would have been dining there every week. DEFINATELY NOT TO BE MISSED OUT ON!!!

Spice Shots is an Indian restaurant way out east in Magill. This quaint little place seats about 32 and has quite an extensive menu. The offerings are divided into entrees, sizzling tandoori dishes and all your common proteins. They’ve even thrown in a street food section as well as the chef’s signature dishes. There’s so much to choose from, there’s something for everyone.

We had a Scoopon tonight but then again so did most people, however this did not matter as the staff were great. Particularly our waiter who was very attentive and attended to our every need including our request to sit closer to the heater/air conditioner as it was as really cold night. He was very clear in explaining all our options and inclusions for the Scoopon Voucher. We were offered a serve of Pappadams to begin. Then there was a choice of 4 Entrees or you could choose to have a shared platter to taste them all (this was our choice). The shared Platter was ample and consisted of Onion Bhaji, Salt & Pepper Squid, Chicken Tika, and lightly spiced cauliflower. This was a lovely start to the meal and we thoroughly enjoyed each serving. We also chose our stock standard favourites of Butter Chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh for Main, however the options was anything from the Chicken, Lamb, Beef or Vegetable Menu so there was ample to choose from. The main also came with Steamed Rice and of the Naan Bread choices we chose the Garlic Naan Bread. The Butter Chicken was sweet and yummy with lots of sauce to dip our garlic naan into. The Lamb Rogan Josh was very tender and although listed as medium heat it was just right. All serving sizes were perfect for us as we really hate to waste and leave food behind particularly as it was so nice and we didn't want them to think we didn't like it as this was definitely not the case. There was also a Pistachio Icecream for Dessert and although we could not taste much of the Pistachio we lapped up all the yummy sauce with this. The Voucher also included a glass of wine each. My dining partner also had a glass of Lemon Lime and Bitters however, when we went to leave and pay they said as we were on a Scoopon Voucher there was no charge so we had to remind them of the Lemon Lime and Bitters which only cost us $4. The dishes were cleared promptly from our table after each course which I really appreciated as this is one of my pet hates so good job to them for this. The restaurant was quickly filling up and was almost full by the time we left which is a good sign and there was a steady stream of Takeaway being picked up. Overall we had a really lovely meal and my Dining Buddy who is hard to please said he would return here another day because it was so nice. If you live near this restaurant do yourself a favour and give this one a go.

Amazing - Couldn't rate these guys more highly. Great food. Service and delivery went above & beyond - more than happy to accommodate dairy allergy. So happy to find good Indian and one that has dairy free options even better!
