Review Seng Kee Yum Cha - Adelaide

The worst yumcha I have ever tried. Chive dumplings are over steamed. The skin is broken without a touch. The salt and pepper squid is bland. Not recommended.

This is a different yumcha experience to what I'm used it. There are no trolleys gong around to tables, just a shop front where you select from what you want. We chose salt and pepper squid, scallop dumplings with prawns and coriander, dumplings with pork, prawns and coriander, prawn changfun and steamed beef tripe. The positive from no trolleys here is that they are made fresh. The drawback is the lack of variety and lack of availability upon request. The beancurds, radish cake and deep fried pork dumplings were not available. Yours truly @fooderarri

Their customer service was the worst. We ordered 3 dishes, including scallop dumplings, prawn dumplings and chicken feet, and paid $18 for three of them. Each was $6. After paying, the cashier gave me scallop dumplings and prawn dumplings, and she told me chicken feet would take 5 minutes. I thought 5 mins was fine, then my husband and I had the dumplings first. After finishing the dumplings for quite a while, we still have not heard from them about the chicken feet. I then came to the cashier and asked. She checked something (which may have been her notebook) and turned to ask the chef. They spoke something to each other, but then she didn’t get back to me at all. While I was standing at the counter, she continued to sell food to other customers and completely ignored me. I was patiently waiting for a while, and even getting back to the seat with my husband. Still no response. I then came and politely asked her again that I was wondering if my chicken feet was ready. She then asked what I had ordered and if I had already paid for the chicken feet. I listed the dishes and said I paid for three of them. She then asked what types of payment I had made (e.g cash or card) and requested an evidence. I had to show her my bank transaction, but I felt very disappointed about the service. Wondered if she thought I had lied for only $6. Then around 2 minutes after that, she gave me the chicken feet without any smiles or any apologies at all. Very disappointed. Their food was just OK but their service was nothing close to good. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. It was my first visit and also my last one to this stall.

Have been eating here for years. The sticky rice and bean curd rolls are amazing. The steamed pork dumplings are a family favourite. Quick and tasty with great service.

Seng Kee is not a restaurant, however their food is as good if not better than some of the restaurant-served yum chas elsewhere. The dim sim was meaty and not too bouncy, S&P squid was well seasoned and sticky rise was generous. The sauce in the beancurd roll dish could be less curdled and there could be more ingredients in the sticky rice dish, but those are small details that was compensated by the price and service. We will return.

poor. found a hair in my soy sauce which i just swapped out without a problem. BUT also found a hair inside my dim sim. the lady i showed argued it was a mushroom and continued to pretend she couldn’t see the hair. ultimately told her i didn’t want the serves i bought and i wasn’t even offered a refund.
