Review Yiros House - Adelaide

Noorzidah M N
Good burger, chips and hot dog. This place served halal food. There's kebab and falafel too. Nearby to other eateries. There's seats in the shop and outside too. Friendly staff. Only few car parking place along the street. There's more near the park which is about 150m away.

If this place was closer to my work I would legitimately have it for lunch every day until I die. To be fair, it's probably a good thing it's not closer but it's still amazing. Extra bonus is spending time scouring the photos on the wall to see if I recognise anyone while I wait for my food.

Food served was stale and had smell cominng from it. Even after telling the person behind the counter he didn’t care about it and casually said its ok . Never cmng back

I don’t usually write reviews but this place was horrible. Guy could barely communicate my order, the garlic sauce was horrible, bread was half stale and on top of that the meat was dry like it was left there. Here right now and I do not recommend.

Meat isn’t cut fresh off the spit as you’d expect when you order good yiros- rather it is pre cut, sitting around in a metal dish for who knows how long. Luke warm at best when you get it.

Was the best in Adelaide. Changed owners. Now $10 min on card, cold chips, and never have hot dog buns. Now not good.

Ordered and paid full price for a falafel roll and got served a roll with just salad and sauce (which is $4 cheaper on the menu). I had been there a couple of days before and had ordered the same which came with falafel. I politely told the server working and he got aggressive and said the falafel roll doesn’t come with falafel (?????🧐🧐) and that I was served the same thing previously. When I questioned this and pointed out that this made no sense he stormed out the back and did not return. I was left confused and quite angry by the behaviour of this man. If you like to get a meal served without the main ingredient this is the place for you.

Terrible Terrible Service!!! The workers flat out refused any thing we asked for and argued. Bad bad bad. And the food was less than good.

They serve kebabs now not yiros, it's false advertising. The khubz Lebanese bread is terrible compared to proper Greek pita bread. And charging extra for onion? Seriously? Go elsewhere

Dropped by for some late night bites. My falafel was served up warmed with a bit of hummus. It was alright. It was decently fluffy and well seasoned but it wasn't crispy at all. I also got a serving of chips. It was just seasoned with chicken salt so it didn't taste that spectacular, but they had fantastic texture - very crispy and not overly greasy.

I never call a place disgusting, but I'm willing to make an exception for The Original Yiros House. Firstly, the employee uses the exact same glove on his left hand and his bare right hand to: handle the yiros wrap, the salad, the meat, the microwave (yes the microwave does more cooking than the grill), the Eftpos machine and any cash handed to him. His glove and hand literally looked like he has been doing so the whole day. Secondly, the meat came from a metal bucket enclosed with a lid and needed to be reheated before serving. The tomatoes were green, the lettuce was bruised, and the store bought wrap came from an expired pack (expired 3 days ago), so I guess freshness isn't on their tick list. Lastly the meat is chewy, bland and oily (probably from a result of storing meat in a bucket for long periods of time).
Feel free to come here if disgusting hygiene and food standards are attractive to you because you can get all that for the price of an overpriced yiros.
Sometimes "original" does not mean good.

Went here tonight. Four of us ordered a lamb yiros, got severely sick not long afterwards. Meat was warm, heading towards more the colder side, looked like it wasn't cooked properly. For some reason all four of our yiros' had a curry taste to it. Will not be going back, worst yiros I have ever had! Would not recommend unless you want a curry tasting yiros which makes you vomit and go to the toilet. Wish I could put a zero instead of a 1.

Was my first time and boy did I make a very big mistake. As soon as I walked in I had a bad feeling from the smell and the guy behind the counter serving us. The meat (still trying to work out if it really was meat) was cold and had a texture that looked like it came straight out of a dog can with curry powder sprinkled on top. The only good thing about the yiros was on the way home when it came out.....will never return and it's put me off yiros's for ever

It was my first time here and it will be my last time! I'm not sure what's in the sauce however it almost tasted like mayonnaise with curry powder.

Tonight I did something brave. I didn't intend to. I wanted to take the easy option and stick to what I know. But circumstances did not allow me to partake in mediocrity once again. Tonight I got an AB from the original yiros house. Yes you heard me right. There's no Colour involved. Just the original. Currently I am devouring a combination AB with chicken and lamb, chips, tabouli, tomato salad and deliciously Subtle garlic sauce which I won't be tasting for days to come and tomato sauce to top it off. It is unreal. The meat is not chewy, it's tender. The chips are crips. The salad is a nice touch. Do your self a favor and break out of your comfort zone. The original is the best.

Always a reliable way to quickly fill up with hearty and tasty yiros when one doesn't get the chance to have a regular dinner and the dinner was too fancy and still hungry.Good service, fun to watch the crowds come in or pass by, and fast. I personally only take the lamb yiro with garlic, so can't comment on other food there.Always recommend it to friends.

Randomly started craving for yiros, however this will be the last time ill crave for one when im in the east end of town! Heard from some friends that Original Yiros House was a pretty solid option for yiros in town. I went into the shop and there was nothing but birds…The place was trashed, like it recently been robbed with chairs on the ground and rubbish everywhere, but I thought to myself "never judge a book by its cover". After this experience, I will never apply that when it comes to picking restaurants.

Ordered a combination yiros and it was just bad when I saw how he made it. The meat was not cooked.. it was tortured. The meat was stored in this container which has probably been in the oven for a day or two. He was also very stingy with the sauce despite having no customers. I took a bite, and the meat was just awful. It was so dry and rough, and the meats were in huge chunks.

During the whole time eating there, there were literally no one that came in, the only company I had were birds. They were waiting for me to throw it away, so they could eat it. This will definitely be the last time going here and will need to slap the friend that recommended this terrible place.

I'm not too sure why this institution of the Adelaide East end seems to have such a bad wrap (pardon my pun. No wait, don't pardon it - appreciate it). One of my favourite things in the world to do is grab a combo yiros with a falafel in it and take it across to the palace cinemas to eat during a movie.
No, this isn't the fanciest establishment in the city, but that's not why you go there. You go for a simple, quick, cheap, tasty meal. I think the meat here is pretty decent, the falafel are good and the salad ingredients are all pretty fresh. The only thing I'm not a massive fan of is their garlic sauce which can be a little bland sometimes, but if you get some hummus thrown in then you get plenty of flavour.
I've never had an issue with the staff - they're always accommodating when I ask for all kinds of special requests in my yiros. They might not always be the friendliest but it's a god damn hole in the wall selling yiros, what are you expecting??

Came here for a snack with my girlfriend and was was treated quite rudely by the male staff. Maybe our patronage was not good enough for them? Was not in the mood for confrontation this particular day so rather than bring this up I decided I would use the power of the dollar and take my business else where in the future. Chips were fine but will not recommend or return due to the way my partner and I were treated after walking in holding hands.

Street food that didn't skip a beat:)

Adelaides food doesn't miss much service is rarely unpleasant and food is generous in portions! Pricing is always exceptional and great value for money and This place got it down to a T too :)

To devour a yiros from here during the week, sober. Is a treat! Should do it more often.
Filling and flavoursome are two words that come to mind and the meat was so tenderly cooked it was delicious.

Keep it up guys!

Freshly prepared food, crispy chips and great service. We'll be back...

Feeds > satisfies. Had lamb yiros:
Pita was crisp. Generous offerings of meat, albeit fatty and oily. In contrast, the amount of greens seemed minuscule. Taste-wise, the garlic sauce was over-powering. Definitely makes one full, but not necessarily leaves one wanting more.

Quite ordinary Yiros lamb l.... Quite ordinary
Yiros lamb lacking in taste...
People! Pls remember to wash your hands before preparing food especially after you've just touched money.

It stopped us being hungry but didn't really satisfy. We needed a quick meal before a movie and thought a yiros would do the trip. They definitely were quick. We ordered a combination yiros and a felafel roll with tabouli on both. When unwrapped neither was rolled very tightly which made eating it a particularly messy experience. However, the reason neither was rolled was due to the sheer volume of filling. Neither really screamed flavour - particularly the yiros which was disappointing. Even the garlic sauce wasn't really garlicky and the meat didn't taste like it had been marinated. So we walked away full but not particularly fulfilled.

The meat is lean and well marinated, and generously provided. The lamb was a bit tougher than what I remember which indicates it hasn’t been tenderised enough. There’s lettuce and tomato somewhere in that Yiros, but I don’t care, I’m not here for salad!
