How have I lived in this area for so long without knowing about this place?! The food is fantastic! Cannot recommend highly enough!
Kwik stix staff recommended I visit over a year ago and I finally found it. Food was divine, staff great. Congratulations to the owner on establishing yet another amazing dining place.
Fantastic Malaysian food. Very tasty and authentic. Friendly service and my family have always had a great meal there. Affordable prices and worth going
Yummy Malaysian food ... Probably close to the best in Adelaide. The sambal mihun and eggplant is a must try. Curry chicken is average .. good range of Malaysian drinks .. only minor feedback is the service is a tad bit slow.. be prepared to wait for 25-30 mins after ordering. Would definitely come back again
Very tasty food, reasonably priced, friendly staff and great for takeaway (or eating in with two to four people). I love it! Try the house-made sodas. The salt and pepper eggplant is also delish!
The only downside I should mention is that none of their vegetarian options are actually vegetarian. They all contain some kind of fish/oyster sauce or meat stock in them. Just a heads up to any vegans or vegetarians out there. You might wanna skip this one.
Small nice Malaysian cafe down south. Not much thoughts put into decorations (simple decors) but the environment is decent.
Services : alright. Staffs are nice but not overly friendly. They don't serve you at the table, you would have to order at the counter even though you dine in. Food and drinks are served pretty quick.
Food - char kway teow is good but a bit way too oily. My gf order the normal char kway teow and I order the sambal/belacan char kway teow, but they both taste quite the same. I was hoping mine would have a kick of belacan taste and spice. Nevertheless, it still taste good. The ngo Hiang is a must try on entree, crispy skin with tasty filling. Roti is good but not fantastic, curry that serve with the roti has good fragrance and flavour is well balanced. All dishes served are not too spicy to tolerate in general.
Drinks - teh tarik was way toooo sweet for me. Flavour wise was good but I must remember to tell them less less less sweet next time. That's just my personal opinion, I love strong tea flavour and less condense milk.
It's an enjoyable night for me and my gf. Would love to come back and try the rest of their Malaysian dishes.
Little Malaysian Gem
Food is great, without a doubt; char kuey teow quite possibly one of the best in Adelaide, if not the best. Service can be slow sometimes. Staff is courteous. Overall a great Malaysian experience, not to be missed.
Amazing food, amazing staff! One of my favourite places to eat. Highly recommend one of their laksas or the salt and pepper eggplant! Fairly priced too!
The standard of Malaysian cuisine in Adelaide is actually quite high, compared to larger cities such as Sydney, and there are some gems around the city and suburbs. One such example is this restaurant. My family keeps returning to Chilli Padi due to its consistently high standard, reasonable prices, and good service. The char kwea teow, and the hor fun are both delicious, with the "wok hei" (smokiness of the wok) signature. They also serve a range of other malaysian dishes and desserts, in a clean air conditioned environment.

Lucky to have this as our local Malaysian. Reccomend the Char Kuey Teow or for those that like it hot, the Crispy Spicy Prawns but have enjoyed all the food we have tried from here. Great for take away or dine in.
Let's start by saying that the food here is delicious.
We had Mee Goreng,Hainese Chicken Rice and Nasi Lemak and they were all full of big flavours. The Nasi Lemak had rice, a beautiful chicken and potato curry, egg, cucumber, chilli sambal, peanuts and ikan bilis Excellent.
The chicken rice had a whole steamed chicken breast (we were asked if we wanted breast or thigh) with steamed bok choy and a soy based sauce with a chilli dipping sauce and a serve of rice cooked in chicken stock.
The mee goreng had a good whack of chilli heat and had chicken, vegetables and bean curd through it in a tomato and soy sauce. Once again - delicious.
Prices are around $12 to $20 range.($11.90 for wanton noodle soup.$19.90 for stewed pork belly)
There is a wine list and a wide range of Malaysian drinks. My son had something called Milo Godzilla which needed to be seen to be believed.
You may have noticed that the place is "chinese/malaydisn" rather than purist Malaysian cooking. Some dishes - Lemon Chicken, Beef in Black Bean, Salt and Pepper Egg Plant - would fit quite happily on the menu of many a Gouger Street Chinese place.
Service is friendly and helpful and the setting is quite pleasant.
Having said all that, if your idea of a great restaurant is one where all the food comes out promptly and at the same time, then be prepared for a little heart ache. Service could be described as a bit whimsical and unhurried, but the place was extremely busy.
Would we go there again? Definitely
Down-to-earth home cooked food!. I have been around Australia and this place has always been one of my favourite sg/malaysian restaurants. Their home made sambal chilli is no doubt the best around! Although it is a little hard to reach them by public transport, I will always try to go visit them when I am down in Adelaide.
I am surprised to see a couple of people having such strong opinions about the "sub standard services" they received.
I do understand that the restaurant is a small family business run single handedly by two very hard working malaysian couple- one of them being the only chef. And like most restaurants, they could only rely on part time uni students for their service staff who comes and goes. It takes lots of time and manpower to train good waiting staff (much more another chef!) and retaining them for a long time is hardly possible.
While its true that in theory, applying the "Supply/ Demand" principle on meeting the increase in dining crowd by hiring more manpower sounds very straightforward- its really more easy said than done. I for one, will not want another 'chef', who doesn't have the same skills and touch, to make my favourite Sambal Kuey Teow and risk it turning out a subpar dish.
I do know that they do Take Away services too thus having a half filled restaurant doesn't mean the kitchen is not busy. Which business in their right mind goes out deliberately to let their hungry customers wait and turn into angry customers?
So I say be your own judge and give them a fair go. I will definitely be back again the next time I am down radelaide.
A little Malaysian restaurant located in the south of Adelaide.
We went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. We waited for almost 1 hour for all the food came after the ordering for our table. The entree came later than the main meals which was not very ideal.
The food overall was OK. Lots of soup in seafood Hor Fan, it didn't seem to have much flavour in the rice noodles, but if you mix the soup and the rice noodles it will taste better and more balanced in flavour. The satay chicken pieces in the entree were not very big. Nasi lemak that my friend ordered looks nice.
The service was friendly and they have interesting drinks and desserts as well.
Food is good as always. Just this time the portion is slightly smaller.
Lovely local place that serves nice Malaysian food. The service was friendly and quick. The food served was nice though the serving size was a bit small compared to other similar places. Overall a nice place to dine in or takeaway good honest food that taste great.
Have been there quiet a few times. Food is always consistent and good. Will definitely recommend
Authentic Malaysian dishes served by super friendly staff at reasonable prices. They do excellent wok-fried noodle dishes, like Char Kuey Teow and Seafood Hor Fan. For Malaysians living in Adelaide's south, this is a real lifesaver, helping keep at bay homesickness and hunger pangs for authentic food from home.
Nice authentic Malaysian food. Especially like the char kway teow and Assam laksa. CKT is the best I've eaten so far in Adelaide. Assam laksa has all the right mix of flavors. Highly recommended. Price and portion is good 👍🏼 value for money.
