Fantastic local fish and chip shop. Always friendly service, good portions, fresh fish and great old school chips.
Came here for a Friday night fish n chips fix and was warmly greeted by the staff. They were busy but service was very efficient. Generous portions, crispy chips, melt in the mouth blue grenadier. The only downside was the tiny scallops but they threw in an extra one to compensate. Great local fish n chip shop, will gladly come back and try the chicken next time.
Just tried JB's for the first time - so impressed! Excellent fish and chips, great value, so friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again and try the chicken!

Love this place! The chicken is delicious, reasonably priced and comes with excellent service. Try the flake and the calamari as well its the best fish and chips in the area. Couldn't recommend this place enough, friendly local business that everyone should support. 5 stars from me any day!
When I'm feeling a bit lazy I come here for the dinner pack for the family. For thirty dollars you get a full (free range) chicken and all the usual sides. Massive win.
Been here a few times now and based on previous visits I’ll continue return for a quick take-out meal when we’re in a hurry. It’s not like the usual chips and burger place, they’ve got a good sized shop that’s very clean, orderly, not smelly and well laid out with display counters and ample tables and chairs. Jim’s friendly and easy to have a quick chat with and really makes you feel welcome particularly if you’ve been a few times and he knows your face. Our fish/ burgers / chicken and chips have always been very good and without complaint. The portions sizes are as you’d expect and the quality has always been excellent especially with the fish. There is heaps to choose from on the menu and we always walk away paying about $8 per head on average for take out here. Give this place a go, for a take away its worth it and you won’t be disappointed.
Great charcoal chicken with salty crispy skin, great stuffing and tasty chips. Great food and service from a family owned business. Always reliable and popular with the locals.
Your basic chook/chip shop, but done well. JB's is nothing fancy, just your standard Aussie deep-fryer tuck shop. They pull it off well, though. A lot of these places reek of grease inside, look scuzzy like there's an oily film on everything, or give off a weird vibe if you're not one of the local folks who come there all the time. But JB's is clean inside and they were accommodating when a dozen sweaty Lycra-clad strangers from my bicycling group descended upon them one evening. They were quick, and got the food out to us in good time so no one was left hanging. The guy running the place (I think he was the owner) didn’t grizzle when I changed my order because I saw they had a better deal on a half-chicken and chips ($12.50) It was flavourful chicken, good quality meat and the chips were decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're in Ascot Vale and want to get a greasy food fix, JB's is fine.
