Solid soup dumplings found here!
The Soup Dumplings are filled with bursting flavour, to the point that losing a drop hurts you inside. It's very easy to order multiple servings 🥰
The Chilli Oil Dumpling has gotten better in flavour that each bite makes you salivate and satisfied 😋
The XO Vermicelli Stir Fry is also delicious to the point that the flavours of prawns and spices flow into your tastebuds, enhancing your dining experience.
The quality has remained consistent in the past several years that it's quite a favourite on my list and it would be on yours too 😇
Always enjoy eating here with my family. The best dishes is the pan fried pork buns! Chewy on the top, crunchy on the bottom and you've got juicy pork and delicious, steaming soup on the inside.
xiao long bao and pork&chive dumplings are a must for me and taste of shanghai does these great at all of their restaurants. the noodle dishes are cheap and nice to eat. i always order lemon lime bitters and im happy that they make their own and not give me a bottle. i love taste of shanghai and will keep coming.
Delicious food, friendly staff and good service! Restaurant is clean and tidy. I'll definitely go there again and try out more Chinese cuisine dishes.
Taste of shanghai a great place to eat and relax with your mates. The food was awesome, it's very modern and it won't kill your wallet. The place was packed, the waitresses was friendly and they greet you with a smile every time you asked for assistance.
Would recommend to dine! ☆☆☆☆
We first discovered Seek & Stone during Covid lockdown. Ordered take away many times and have only recently eaten in the restaurant. The black pepper crab was delicious. They were out of a couple of dishes we wanted but otherwise this restaurant is on my top places to go. I was able to use my dine NSW voucher so all good.
Food here didn't disappoint. Tasty and flavoursome. Love the most is their mapo tofu, it's bright, great tofu texture and it gives a spicy heat on the palate.
We love Taste of Shanghai in World square, so when we know there is a branch in Ashfield, we are very happy. We tried their new dish "kou rou" that we had been looking everywhere to try, and it was super delicious! Never regret to dine in here!
Seek & Stone by Taste Of Shanghai aced two dishes I order quite a lot. Shandong chicken ($20.80) arrives in a fragrant cloud with super crisp skin sitting over moist slices of bone-in bird. Flash-fried cubes of wagyu steak ($32.80) are the other standout. The beef hunks have been beautifully seared so retain their moisture and have added flavour from caramelisation that sings against button mushrooms and black pepper sauce. I’d order both dishes again without hesitation.
Fried rice ($12.80) taken in the Shanghainese style with pork lard, diced salted pork and green vegetables is a clean & enjoyable foil to these saucy dishes. While there is a short wine list, for this impromptu midweek meal, I opted for beer, preferring the Blue Swimmer summer ale ($8) over my usual Tsing Tao ($7).
I was pleased to note a couple of dishes I’d never eaten before, like rice cakes ($13.80) wok-fried with vivid greens and shredded pork, and Shanghainese sticky rice dumplings ($9.80). While I loved the slippery rice cakes, the dumplings ate a little dry and bland for my liking. While I enjoyed piling Sichuan-style shredded pork ($21.80) into soft steamed lotus wraps ($5/6) the ginger-heavy sauce was way too sweet for me. That said, I left this busy, neon-lit dining room with a positive impression.
The food here is on another level. The day I went was on a Friday and so I eat seafood on Fridays. I was thinking that the seafood might not be as good as the meat dishes but the flavours were perfect and I could not stop going for more servings. I am definitely going to go another day to try their meat dishes!
