Ashmore steak and seafood has been on the GC longer than I have and ive been coming for special events since I was a kid. I love the famously massive meal sizes, amazing pricing and great food. I always bring interstate people here and they all love it
Celebrated my birthday with my family at the Ashmore Steakhouse and the waitress was amazingly helpful and friendly and the food was just as good as the waitress đWill be back and thank you all staff.
Nice place to enjoy the steak and seafood, we ordered the T-bone steak, chilli bugs and kids spaghetti, the meals so big, cant finish all, had to take away the rest, thank you!
This is "my local" as it's the only restaurant I can walk to from my house and boozy walk home, however to call it my local doesn't necessarily reflect its quality of service or product. I would say coming to Ashmore Seafood and Steak is more of an experience one should have for themselves so I don't wait to give too much away, but brace yourself. The owner is a funny little greek? man and is there to greet you at the door EVERY NIGHT and from what staff have told me he has been there every day since approx 124 B.C. The place seems as though it's covered in a layer of thick dust with decor that hasn't been updated for decades, and colourful mismatched fairy lights everywhere for some reason. PRO's: free garlic bread that never runs out, fascinating bar/wine fridges that are semi-self serve and an experience in itself, large diverse menu. CONS: Cheap wine that's way overpriced, expensive menu, anything deep fried is fresh out of the freezer and flavourless.
I love taking people here for the first time because they really make up their own rules and etiquette and friends always end up says "what the hell is going on" but overall being pleased at the end. Not for a restaurant snob, but a nice change from the refined standards the rest of the gold coast is aiming for.
Oh yeah, steak is good, seafood is either very expensive or frozen.
Let's just talk about the steak for a minute. My boyfriend and I ordered the T-bone steaks. Absolutely superb. Good quality meat, and full of flavour. It was also cooked to perfection. I got the bugs with mine, and they were equally as delicious. The portions are huge, which is excellent. Staff are more than happy to give a takeaway box! Will be frequenting this place more often! Oh, and shoutout to the staff! Very good service, and super friendly :)
Polite service, reasonably priced and nice environment.
The food has big portions and would recommend sharing with 3+ people to have a taste of their big food variety.
Will revisit as it is convenient to get to and has good quality food.
Got here pre-6 pm before dinner rush. Ample seating and quick service. Ordered seafood platter with BBQ bugs. Value for money. Bugs were good. Deep fried seafood was fresh and well-done. Avoided the chips as they were not high value targets.
Glad we arrived early. Service was fast and polite. Can understand comments from other reviewers if place is in full swing. Service is cordial but feels configured for dealing with mass crowds.
Super large portions and tasty steak and seafood. Perfect for large groups or family celebrations. Just one tip - don't load up too much on the complimentary mega bowl of garlic bread.
We love this place. Staff are great. Food is good and plenty. Can't find any fault - have been going to this place for at least 20 years. Hope it never changes
love the food there. each celebration, anniversary or something, we will go there. plenty of tables food is fast and large. atmosphere is good.
It was my first time at Ashmore Seafood & Steak but despite the outdated decore, this place rocked my socks! Huge serving size and delicious fresh seafood meant this place is definitely on my list to go back to again. Warning folks, pack a pair of elastic pants because once you have a few pieces of the free delicious garlic bread, and a main meal, it's actually close to being too much food! The prices are good and whilst the service staff looked like they didn't want to be there, it didn't matter!
Love this place the meals are HUGE I always order the small meal which to me is large anyway, friendly staff, great place I would highly recommend it for families as they say you can share the meals as they are huge
Wonderful Iconic Gold Coast Steak & Seafood Restaurant. Family Owned & Operated For Over 3 Decades !! & This Can Be Seen & Appreciated, By The Very Friendly & Extremely Efficient Service.
The Menu Is Extensive & Caters For Most Tastebuds & Budgets.
SO Sad, We Will Be Losing This Outstanding Establishment !!
I Strongly Recommend That You Get There & Do Yourself A Favour, While You Still Can.
On the 25/12/20021 my family and I entered this restaurant to have Christmas lunch together, we left at 2:30pm with the fullest of bellies and our hearts filled with joy from the experience. What a wonderful place to spend our time with our loved ones. The food absolutely amazing and plenty of it, the staff treat you like you're part of their family from the time you walk into their home (restaurant) and the friendly patrons all with BIG smiles on their faces says it all. Thankyou for a most wonderful from the Price Family
Had the grilled Morton bay bugs. So good I love going to the restaurant but be aware 9 times out of 10 be prepared to take a doggie bag. The meals for one person can be big.
This place is massive! I think it is actually the largest restaurant on the GC.
The atmosphere is more like that of an old family run country pub - super friendly staff, the bar area is like a mini bottle shop, the way you place your order is by ticking a box on the menu next to the thing you want and the food is generous, rustic and gets to the table quickly.
This is a great place to go with a group, seafood was pretty good, the oysters are excellent, not sure about the steak as the only steak at the table was ordered "well done" for some reason I will never know! Looks great in the display though.
This place has been around for yeeeeears. Like over 30+years and is still great.
You certainly do not walk out of here hungry in any sense as the plate sizes are BIG.
And the quality is pretty good. Let's put it this way, name mother restaurant that survived on the Gold Coast for over 30 years. Not many. It has plenty of tables, as we found out on recent Fathers Day, when most were fill, these guys still had a table or two to.fit the 3 of.us in. You'll see by the photos attached, they are pretty good meals, with FREE GARLIC BREAD!!!
Struggle to.find a place anywhere else on the GC that matches here for a great meal. đ
I can't believe this is now closed. An end of an era. We were there on it's last day and it was amazing.
Superb food and the staff is always friendly. We have been going to this restaurant for 30 years. Very highly recommended.
I think itâs a good restaurant, without having to wait because there are a lot of seats. Also, the portion for each dishes are big, donât have to worry not eating enough. The staffs are very friendly. The bread is toasted well, itâs just a tiny bit salty, but still tastes good. Itâs free so you can eat as many as you want! Seafood spaghetti is nice because it has a lot of seafood in there, not like some pastas not including a lot of fillings. However, the taste is not so strong, hope it can be a bit stronger. Otherwise, itâs a good dish! Salad is average. I like the fishermanâs basket the most, perfectly fried, and fresh seafood! The sauce included also tastes very good. The chips are a bit dry, but still tastes fine. Overall, good experience and Iâll visit this restaurant again. I havenât had chance to try their steak and other seafood selections on their menu.
