After trying the best American BBQ joints Melbourne has to offer, Holy Smokes certainly had some big shoes to fill.
Let me tell you, they SMASHED all expectations.
For starters, the beef short rib. Well that fell straight off the bone, with not a single bit of meat left behind. Knife and fork? Please, my hands can work this one out.
The brisket was absolute perfection and could be cut with a spoon if necessary.
Now I'm the first to admit i'm not the biggest fan of pork, though the pulled pork was gone from the plate almost before it had been placed in front of me.
Additionally the ultra friendly staff service and flexibility of BYO added to the experience.
Holy Smokes - keep doing what you're doing!

The food is absolutely amazing - could not fault anything. All of the meat is incredibly tender and has heaps of flavour and the staff are really friendly. I really love that the serving sizes are displayed clearly on the menu so you know exactly what you're getting! Plus the staff helped talk us through the menu and explained how much food we would need. Could not recommend more highly!!!
Protein heaven. The southern fried chicken was ordinary. The serving was good size and the burgers looked decent. Each of the sauce goes well with what they recommend. But if you like everything hot, they have one for that too.
Good food, good service. Price is reasonable $12-15 for a pretty decent sized burger that always fills me up. Fries are good and a good spot for kids as they have paper on the tables for drawing with pencils.. Keeps my little guy happy for ages. Regular customer, will be returning.
Dont normally throw my two cents in but holy smokes, that was bloody amazing. Feed could have easily fed two but we dont have smoke houses back home so i had to make do by myself. Brisket was my pick but the lamb shoulder was a close second.
Does what it says on the box. You want meat to shove in your meat hole, this is the place to meat. Because meat! All meat is gluten free, as are the sides (excluding the mac 'n' cheese); so all you glutards can get your meat on without fear. Quality is excellent, will be a regular! #meat #moist
