I have only ever eaten takeaway here but it is fresh and delicious. They don't skimp on ingredients as many takeaway places do. I think it is very reasonably priced and make a point of going there for a fix of sushi whenever I'm in Balmain.
Beautiful artwork in their dishes here. The spicy scallop with a coating of dry seaweed (wheatgrass kind of bitterness to it in case youre wondering) is a standout for me.
Inner city freshness and hustle at this authentic offering of Japenois. Attentive, engaged staff support the broad array of the sushi train, with pretty extensive menu offerings.
Suitably terrible Japanese pop music gives the place a feel of downtown Roppongi.
Teriyaki salmon delish, so too the yakisoba chicken. Tempura veges good, but eggplant a bit robust for my liking.
Very good local.
Ummm yum! Everything was fresh and prices are reasonable. The sizes of the different rolls are inconsistent though. It looks and taste like anything they say is spicy has a dab of chilli sauce on it. One of the better sushi conveyor belt Japanese places I've been to in a while
Great Food!. We had a late dinner here last Saturday and the food didn't disappoint. We had the steamed vegetable gyoshas, green tea noodles with vegetables, teriyaki prawns and the tuna. The later two came with lots of fresh veggies. I loved being able to get vegetable gyoshas as at most places I've been to they contain pork. Also loved that the menu contained a few other dishes which were a little different to the norm, including the green tea noodles. The standard of the food and cooking was very high all around
Due to the quality of the food, I couldn't not "like" this restaurant, however there were some things we were not so impressed with. Firstly, while the
decor was simple it wasn't unattractive, however the lighting was very bright giving the restaurant a bit of a cafeteria feel. Definitely more for families or quick, casual meals than somewhere to take a date. There's a teppan bar which is a plus, but the "sushi train" somewhat detracts from this.
Our waitresses didn't seem well-versed in English, but they were pleasant, however when I initially approached to enquire as to whether or not they were still open the one I asked looked at her watch before saying they were. The waitress who brought the menus over also looked at her watch as she put them on the table. This was shortly after 9pm.
We sat down, and I noticed the restaurant closed at 10. I assumed this
meant the last order would be taken at 10. At around about 9.45 they started removing the sushi and sashimi from the takeaway cabinet that fronts the street. We were finishing off our meals when the waitress came up and apologised, saying they were closed. I'd just suggested we take the rest of the wine home, but my friend filled our glasses with the last of the wine thinking we could spend ten or fifteen minutes finishing it. When another waitress came to clear the table, we again asked if we could finish our wine, and were told, "sorry we are closed". I asked my friend if anyone else was
still eating (some had been a couple of minutes earlier) and he said everyone was standing up to pay and leave. We ended up guzzling the wine then paying and leaving right away.
If I were to go back it would probably be for takeaway sushi.
Fantasic new sushi restauant. Great range of reasonably priced dishes on the train and lots of interesting twists. Have been twice and will keep going back.
Mushiro in Balmain. LOVED the Grilled salmon with avocado, cucumber and salmon row sushi with chilli chestnut mayo. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and luckily you didnt see any of the sushi on the train, stay there for too long, which is always a good sign!
Great place to visit with freshly made sushi rolls. You can select food from the train or order from the menu. The vegetarian, prawn and pork dumplings are also delicious.
Great value. Service was spot on with friendly staff. I ordered a vegetarian Bento as a single order which could have easily fed 2 people. Left the restaurant feeling great.
Great variety of sushi on the train and the a la carte menu. Every dish I had was fresh and the flavour was very well balanced. The kingfish and tuna carpaccio was some of the best I had.
The restaurant is clean and adhered to the appropriate covid guidelines which was very assuring.
It was a very pleasant dining experience. Would definitely be coming to this place regularly!
Best Japanese food in Balmain, and the staff are so lovely! Fresh as, so yummy! 10 stars!!
Very cheap but not the best sushi I've had. Rice was on the stale side and sushi not overly flavourful. Still good value considering it was salmon and scallops for $3.80!
The sushi is all so fresh and delicious. I went on a Friday evening for dinner and there was a huge variety of plates available. Staff are very nice.
Lovely little Japanese restaurant offering a la carte menu and sushi train. Friendly service, delicious range of Japanese dishes. Will return!
