best italian in balmain, it’s welcoming and makes amazing food and has incredible service. Would defiantly reccomend for everyone wanting italian !!
Came here for a birthday dinner tonight and seated at the back of the restaurant that was cooler. The restaurant was quite busy and food took some time to come out. The wait staff were nice enough, given how busy they were.
The pizzas was yummy but the pasta could have been better!
We ordered: 2 medium pizzas. Supreme and Saliccia (I think that's how you spell it but I'm sure is wrong) and fettuccini nero. The pasta unfortunately, lacked in taste. It was a little bland but added some of their chilli oil to assist with the flavour.
Spontaneous outing Boxing Day. We had a delicious meal here. Fettuccini puttanesca was delicious, spicy and hit the spot. Garlic pizza was delicious too. Glad we tried it. Will be back.

So its not been too long since I've moved to Sydney and been binging on a lot of Asian food and decided that i needed some change. Me and my friends decided to head to Gigi's for an Italian dinner. Located in this really beautiful and serene neighbourhood of Balmain, we grabbed ourselves a table in the outdoor dining section as it wasn't a very chilly evening. Ordered for 3 different red wines, and for mains we ordered the Scallopine al limone, Risotto e Funghi Pollo and Ravioli Aurora. The veal was perfectly cooked and tender, the ravioli was al dente and well flavoured and the risotto was just brilliantly rich and creamy. We devoured our mains in no time and then it was time for desserts. When at an Italian restaurant and a menu reads tiramisu, you don't just walk away, do you? So we ordered a tiramisu, a creme brulee which the server vouched by and a panacotta which was their specials for the day. The tiramisu was slightly a different take than the classic one but nonetheless gorgeously good. The creme brulee was good and creamy too and as for the panacotta ehich was served with a nutella topping, I think the nutella did sort of mar and overpower the light creamy panacotta. Overall it was a lovely dinner and would definitely go back to try out their pizzas.

I enjoyed the Italian salad, antipasto, pizza supreme and herb pizza finished with a cappuccino and the bottle of white recommended was as good as I've had.
Atmosphere was cool, Balmain crowd dressed and behaved well.
I'd like to go back again soon to try the rest of the menu.
The staff made us feel at home.

Amazing food!. We dined here last night & it was excellent. The food was delicious & we didn't even have to wait long for it to come out. Only issue was the waitress who say us down forgot to give us menus, but a few minutes later she realised & apologised. Her service from then on in was great. I would definitely come here again! I've attached a photo of my King Prawns! Yummmm!!
No pizza is bad pizza.... ... and the pizza here is pretty good. Not my favorite in the area but hearty, wood-fired fare. Good selection of specials and lovely wait staff. Cute for a date night but a bit loud inside if it gets busy. I would come and sit outside next time.
Greaaaattt Food and Wine. Went to this place with my partner we had a great time we ordered the the Gigi's Pizza, Marinara Pasta and a bottle of Shiraz wine. The Pizza crust was amazing and the topping matched perfectly together. It is very rare to go to a place and order a Marinara Pasta and find it very rich with all the sea food varieties. I would definitely recommend this place.
After a bad experience 3 months with a female employee who seemed to be the manager I would have to say I was planning on never returning to Gigi's. But fortunes behold I was ushered there by my fiancé and his work friends... The food and service were great this time around... Excellent pizza and pasta... After what looks to be like new management Gigi's might be getting one more shot afterall...
Love this local favourite! Fresh quality cuisine great pizza and a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The new chef is amazing and the daily chalkboard specials are worth looking out for. My favourite in Balmain by a mile. Go there at least once a fortnight coz I can't resist it :)
