Le Paul has gorgeous desserts that seem to suit all tastebuds. The prices here are very reasonable. There is a wide range of small and large cakes, tarts and pastries that look pretty and satisfy the sweet tooths like me 😊
When you're having one of those down days and feel like you need a bit of a 'pick me up', this delightful cafe in Balwyn is the remedy!
It serves scrumptious cakes and heavenly coffee in a lovely setting with great service thrown in on the side. Their lemon meringue and fruit tarts are what dreams are made of. You can easily see and taste the care that is put into the creation of each mini masterpiece.
While it might be a little pricey, it certainly is worth the indulgence every now and again. Love your work, Le Paul!
I love this little coffee shop. They have delicious European style cakes and coffee is consistently good. If they can serve cafe style lunch (with salad?), that would be great. The staff are friendly but sometimes I feel a few of them are a bit business-like when attending customers.
Wonderful coffee, pie, quische and cakes. Good atmosphere. Only disappointment is the attitude of a particular staff member who works there mainly on Saturdays. Huge attitude problem on numerous occasions. The rest of the staff are great! Go during weekdays to get great service!
Le Paul is one of my favourite cafes in Balwyn that specialises in churning out all kinds of heavenly European baked goods. From fluffy sponge cakes and flaky croissants, to melt-in-your mouth quiches, Le Paul is one of my go to places in Melbourne's east when I have a hankering for some pastries and coffee.
Located in Balwyn Village, it is a small cafe with a nice bustling atmosphere. The interior is French-inspired, decked out with Parisian cafe chairs, baskets of baked goods, and rustic photographs of France. With a large communal table and a small outdoor area as well as free wifi, Le Paul is a great place to get some work done while enjoying a coffee and cake.
They make all of their goodies in house with seasonal changes in their menu offering. And if their one-person sized portion fails to sate the glutton in you, they also take cake orders for you to take home. I've definitely been guilty of carting off an 8 person-sized Black Forrest cake home for myself.
My perennial favourites here are their pear tarts (just WOW!), chocolate flourless cake, orange flourless cake, apple crumble croissant and mushroom quiches. Sometimes however, their cakes can be a little too creamy and bland - such as their Matcha Swiss Roll. The coffees here are also great - smooth, not too intense and most importantly, never burnt in all the times I've been here. And the best part? They serve their iced lattes with a side of sugar syrup so you don't have to try desperately to dissolve sugar into an icey drink.
The staff here are warm and friendly, with prices being very reasonable. And if you are a coffee regular, you can grab a loyalty card and start earning some free coffees!
We are relatively new to the area and still in the process of exploring all the food outlets. Tried their coffee when we were grocery shopping on a Sunday, which tasted great and therefor went back for their cakes. The cakes were great too - so fresh and fluffy. This will definitely become my local dessert place. Love it!
Love every bites of the cakes!!!! They are so tasty. Tired:
Rosie - light, fluffy, full of fragrance, not too sweet, it brings u back to ur sixteen. Love it!!!
Cappuccino Walnut roll - it was the last one they have on a busy Sat. Amazing flavour combination! Perfect for coffee and nuts lover! My fav one as far
Green tea Swiss Roll - nice but green tea flavour is kind of ordinarily to me. Love the red bean they put in the middle, sweetness balances the bitterness of matcha. If u r a big fan of Matcha, u will love it.
Black Forest cake - The cake is soft, fluffy and tasty. However, the cherry inside is a bit too sour for me. I don't like the cherries to be made this sour so I couldn't be able to taste the chocolate
Pear tart - Amazing. All of us love it. We think it is quite special. The pear is still crunchy and the tart is nice crunchy too.
Pear Friand - my least favourite so far. It is still nice but Just too ordinary compared to other cakes.
Overall, I would have to say I totally fall in love to the cakes they served. And so happy that we r having this place near Box Hill. Will definitely going back very often with my friends!!!!!
Cakes are very nice. Tried their Swiss roll and gateau cakes, flurry and fresh, not that sweet. The coffee is good too. Will try different cake each week.
Possibly the best matcha and adzuki beans Swiss roll that I have ever have. It's not too sweet and the taste was glorious. Cappuccino Swiss roll is worth trying too. Will definitely visit again.
A quaint local cafe and bakery that seems a popular local space.
Food ordered:
I had a coffee and a pastry. A simple afternoon snack as to get some work done out of the home office. The coffee was good, a well rounded, full flavoured milk coffee that goes down well. I don't think they serve specialty coffee but the barista seemed quite focused on his process which is encouraging. The pastry was good, being the end of day it had lost its freshness but the flavour of the crust and fillings were nice. Overall a good taste experience and worth popping in for a small bite
Ambience:
The service was very friendly and helpful. It was actually quite busy but everyone looked happy. Many locals were stopping by and making conversation as well.
There are a lot of bakery and cafes on this block, so why not try them all!
Gorgeous bakery full of excellent treats. The little brioche mice in the window were a great start. Another guest was savouring one with a coffee, and told me they usually sell out early. I had an almond croissant with my coffee, and it was lovely, more of a tender style than a crisp one. Staff were delightful too, and there are magazines, newspapers and free wi-fi. Ask for the WiFi password, it's an amusing one.
Friendly staff, quick service and tasty food.
I thoroughly enjoy coming into Le Paul Patisserie and getting my morning coffee on the weekends... until my favourite waitress suddenly left. She had very funky short hair and a lovely attitude that made my day! Don't know what happened to her but she's definitely a keeper!
I was served by a lovely youngster last Saturday, she had short hair and a white jumper, I believe her exceptional service was worth recognition and praise. will be coming back soon and hope to see her again, she is an asset to this great establishment.
One of my favourite cafes in Balwyn. Brings me back to London and Europe with fancy tea and desserts. There's an outdoor fog friendly area. Highly recommended visiting.
Great customer service. Friendly staff that make you feel welcome. Excellent coffee and even better cakes!
