Chumley Warner's has been on my radar for quite sometime & in these days of restrictions a visit seemed to be in order, main reason a nice drive from town to watch the sunset at Wellington Point with some British takeaway!! Now haddock is always my fish of choice when in UK so this was my order with mushy peas of course & those original soft oily British chips. Haddock was meaty, chunky & white & melted in the mouth & the sunset was great
Easily One of the best chip shops around, pricing is slightly more compared to your regular aussie chip shop, but once you get your food you see why, portion sizes are great, and the quality is fantastic. The chips are 100% the best around.
Two of the things i miss most from the UK (apart from friends and family of course!) are the beer and the propper fish and chip shop chips, and luckily for me they have both of those things here! That is not to mention the incredible scampi and haddock!! An added bonus is Wellington point nearby to go and eat with a beautiful view. đ

a long wait (long long line!) if you get there late especial on holidays. But beautiful fish and friendly staff. Also you can 'up-size' on fish size which is giant!

Absolutely beautifully cooked fish â I would strongly
recommend the Haddock or Cod doused in vinegar and salt â ethereal food.
The chips are soggy, but sensational â a real British
element.

Chumleys is a full blown British fish and chip shop, very different to Australian fish and chips that's for sure! Im not big on British cuisine, especially this style but Chumleys seem to pull it off pretty damn good. Everything we tried was nice except for the heavily battered black pudding.. I wasn't a fan of this but my British mate absolutely loved it! He said it was exactly like they do it back home. The only downside was that we had to wait in line for a long time before we could order. Then we waited about 40 minutes to get out food. They were insanely busy though!!
Best substitute for British fish and chips in Brisbane, batter is on point, chips are spot on and the gravy is perfect. Curry sauce is not as thick as in England but still tasty. The smaller serves are still huge and big enough for a decent size meal. The pork faggots are also great and worth a try. Great variety of British drinks. Also pickled cockles and chip shop malt vinegar for sale
Best fish and chips in Brisbane (if you don't mind the wait).I would have given them 5/5, if the service and wait times were better. Seriously the battered fish and proper chips are to die for, BUT it can take forever to receive your food. Would be fabulous if they could offer an 'express' service for plain old cod and chips, and just have someone cooking it constantly!A phone or text-ahead service would also be useful, and it would be AWESOME if they stayed open later than 4pm on Sundays! That's our usual day for a visit to Wellington Point, and it's disappointing that they feel the need to close so early.
Have been here a couple of times, the meals are quite big, either that or we over order each time as it is yummy! Last time we had the haddock, chips, battered sausage, onion rings, gravy and curry sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection, very crunchy outer coating - fish was very tender. Curry sauce is on par with English curry sauce. We generally only go to this place for fish and chips, it's a bit more expensive compared to our local chippy, but the quality is far superior!
Weâve had these English style Fish n Chips a few times now since moving from England to Brisbane. We recently visited again and got a take away and then drove down to the waterfront at Wellington Point to eat them.
We both had the Mini Cod & Chips, more than enough for us. Could have done with more salt and vinegar (which we could have added had we eaten outside the chippy).

This is a good replica of English fish n chips with mushy peas & curry sauce! Wait times werenât too bad because we came at a quiet time. I would 100% go back to satisfy my cravings.
Great fish and chips! Possibly the best in Australia. To top it off you can get English beer on tap and a large selection of nostalgic sweet treats from the UK.
Large cod and large chips for $25. Rough cut chips were cooked perfectly this time (last time very undercooked). Fish in heavy, greasy batter was ok but the star were the chips. Great to share.
We were recommended by a few British friends to try this place for amazing fish n chips. Being used to fresh local fish, I found it hard to enjoy the fish as it had an unpleasant rubbery texture, and none of us finished our fish for this reason. The bits n pieces we got were all tasty and were good enough. I understand British fish n chips is a different experience to local, so I am glad we tried it but I wouldnât use it as my regular fish n chips place. Service was good by the young man who wrapped everything but not much warmth from the rest of the staff. I wanted to clarify a few things over the phone regarding ingredients, but the man on the other end of the phone didnât give me a chance and just told me to use the online ordering. I was happy to do so but wish I had been able to clarify a few of my dietary intolerances with him first.

Hands down the best fish and chips shop Iâve had. Although there was a bit of wait as there were a lot of people the quality of food was impressive. We were told that our order got mixed up so we will have to wait a bit more, in which they said sorry and offered a free glass of beer for me and two other mates. You donât see much shops these days that compensate for their mistake and admit to it. This place is đ
