We had a fantastic dinner there last night. Snails to die for the eye fillet steak was cooked to perfection. Great dining experience, friendly staff, nice wine list and beautiful decor. We’ll be back!
The Salmon Tartar and confit Duck l'Orange are a must try...well so is the rest of the menu.
This Laurent fellow is a bit of a rogue....each time I work through the menu and make progress...he adds new things. Looks like I don't get to retire from fine dining anytime soon!
3.7 out of 5. Pretty impressive. Had lunch here with an old friend and we had a great time. There were already a few prosperous looking Brighton ladies installed here when we arrived. Rather happy they looked. I had the bouillabaisse for main. Nice it was too with a decent amount of seafood. I would have liked just a little more broth though. I couldn’t fault the flavour though which was deep, rich and lovely. My companion, a cook of some note, liked his fish but without going into raptures. I did like the bread here which I used with good effect on my soup. The croutons were most satisfactory too. The cheese platter went down a treat for us with decent wedges of good quality cheese. We enjoyed the meal and the get together. I would happily return.
I took my Mum here for Bastille Day dinner and everything about our experience was amazing - menu, food, drinks and service! The kangaroo terrine was a great twist on the classic but my favourite dish was the hazelnut creme brûlée 😍
A ‘real’ French Restaurant located on the Esplanade in Brighton. There is a delightful feel to the place, and the decor gives the impression you are dining in a bistro in France. We thoroughly enjoyed the traditional French fare and will most definitely return.
Beautiful place, excellent food and services and friends staffs. Enjoy a lot. My request to everyone to come and enjoy the french dishes at reasonable price.
Wow, you just wouldn't guess this place from the outside but it really opens up once you are through the door, very calm and classy interior fit out - this is the sort of restaurant that turns back time a bit - mostly carpeted, lots of space between the tables, uniformed wait staff and a pretty traditional French menu.
And it is refreshing and they do it all very well.
We had the Pheasant pate and Escargot as entrees, you could absolutely be in France. Both were very faithful renditions. Next was the Beef Cheeks and the Pork Belly. Again both were really simple, beautifully prepared dishes with that sort of richness that is typical of French bistro type meals.
Wine list is extensive, lots of French options and we thought very reasonable, plenty of options in the $45 to $60 range. The service is excellent. Put this on your list to try. We will definitely be back and I have a feeling that bookings will soon be difficult to make as word spreads.
An outstanding restaurant that gets every little detail right
Food quality excellent
Portion sizes generous
Service very good
Wine list has decent wine and plenty of choice
Worth another visit at least
Cute restaurant. The quality of food and service was perfect. Had share plates and we enjoyed them all. We look forward to many more visits!
My best friend strongly recommended~ had my birthday lunch there today. Amazing food and friendly staff~ beautiful garden and flowers~must go restaurant in Mornington!
amazing food , friendly staff, bit of a distance from melbourne city but definitely worth travelling to. The prawn, the duck and all their desserts are must-try!! Will definitely go back again with friends and family.
Suggested by a friend, four of us came here on a drizzly, cold winter's afternoon and had a lovely seat by the fire, overlooking the gardens.
The food was magnificent - the baguette was crusty and soft (and the bread basket happily bottomless). For entrees, the duck rillettes were rich and served with acidic pickles to cut through the fat. Mains were well-received all around, with the confit duck, and the fish with prawn bisque being particular highlights. Desserts were equally delicious (creme brulee was absolutely perfect).
The wine list was great, and well priced, the service friendly and familiar. We overstayed our welcome by a couple of hours (sitting chatting and eating until almost 4pm) and the wait staff left us relaxed and unhurried. This is authentic, comforting French food which wouldn't be amiss in Paris.
I will be back, and I will take many people back. A real (undiscovered) gem on the Peninsula.
