Captain and Co is the best Fish and Chip Shop that I have been to in many years. Outstanding quality, super fresh fish, the best chips and the most delightful people that love what they do. I also bought some fresh fish here as well and it was just outstanding. I have no need to go to the market anymore, I will stick with Captain and Co.
As a seafood enthusiast and food traveller, I never miss an opportunity while in Melbourne to indulge at the Captain and Co Fish Bar. I regularly order a fresh cut Salmon fillet that is delicately pan-seared to perfection. The side of battered oysters are little bombs of crispy goodness, but not overpowering, with a light freshness that I can only aliken to those served daily in Queenstown, NZ. Their service is down-to-earth and personal - they don't just sell seafood, but are part of the local community's lives. I daresay this seafood bar is a gem representing some of the finest seafood produce along Australia's east coast. 100% recommend! Thanks Captain & Co!

Grilled rockling - the rockling was pretty much rocking with its juicy flavoring and soft meat! The quinoa salad complemented the fish really well making this my fave dish!
Fried rockling - similar with the grilled rocking (except that it is deep fried), it was so crispy and fresh and the pumpkin salad made it even better!
Oysters, calamari, octopus - need I say more? These babies were so fresh and tasty which satisfied all my seafood cravings! 😋

After a day at the beach, Captain & Co is the perfect stop for a meal. But I’m not talking about your standard battered and fried fish & chips. This bar is another whole kettle of fish! From Snapper to Salmon, Captain & Co offers a selection of high quality fillets which are grilled or fried for you once ordered, then and there. Served with sides of fresh salads, crunchy chips, potato cakes and the classic fried dim sims, you can’t go wrong. We purchased a family (4 people) deal with some extra sides and drinks and the value for money and quality was incredible! Like a flock of persistent sea gulls, we’ll be back again for sure!
Clean, well presented display of seafood. Premium prices but you get what you pay for. Dine in option is inviting as decor is well above your standard Fish & Chip shop. Our take away was tasty and not oily. Batter was crispy. Worth a visit.
The potato cake I had from Captain & Co was the best potato cake I have ever eaten in my life! I ordered take away for dinner here two nights ago and haven't stopped thinking about it since. The staff were very friendly too.
The best tasting fish and chips around, I'm a kiwi lived by the sea all my life and caught my own fish, so find it hard to buy. This is the only exception because I know it's always fresh. Very good value for money and the service is impeccable. Rate it a 6 if I could
Went here today with the in laws for lunch. Looked great, fresh fish on display and lots to choose from. I ordered the Rockling fried in gluten free batter and the others blue gren both fried and grilled. We also ordered chips to share and a Greek salad and a quinoa salad. My Rockling was so good, batter so thin light and crispy, the fish thick and juicy. The salads were so fresh and crisp full of flavour. It was like having a restaurant quality meal at the local fish and chip shop. Oh and those fat gluten free chips yuuuummm.
We will definitely be back for more soon.

This is definitely the way to do modern fish n' chips. Clean, fresh and healthy- everything well cooked. Very much enjoyed, will recommend and will be back!
Delicious fish & chips in Brighton, great and friendly service. A favourite amongst locals as they have nothing but nice words about this place. Fish is crunchy and fresh. Chips were hot and amazingly tasty. Would recommend.
Pleasantly surprised by this place. We wanted quality fish and chips and they delivered. Ended up trying the fish burger. Staff were super helpful and lovely. Fish burger was done well. Could have had a bit more sauce but the fish was perfectly cooked. Brioche bun was tasty. A great quick dinner!
We came here before COVID hit 2 years ago and it's good to see that they have not changed at all. Friendly service and great food, like how we remembered.

My husband and I love coming here! We are always greeted with the most lovely smile and chat but the food here is 10/10! By far the best fish and chips in Melbourne- food wise, customer service and the general pleasant atmosphere. Takeaway never disappoints and everything is always fresh and super tasty.
It’s so refreshing to have a healthy meal option of a beautiful and fresh piece of fish with rice and salad instead of just having chips. The Calamari is also by the best we’ve ever been served! It’s lightly fried, perfectly salted and the calamari itself is fresh and high quality- not processed and fake.
It’s a lovely touch having the fresh seafood bar as well and the cooking advice to go with it.
Has become a regular of ours!

Pretty tasty meal overall, the portion sizes are a little off with 4 very large "spring rolls" and only 10 small pieces of calamari (as shown in pictures) it was an expensive feed for 4 people at $91.00. But we'd still go back.
Delicious food, reasonable price & service was 10/10. Would absolutely recommend this place!!
Tonight we took friends from Sydney to this really delightful restaurant in Bay St Brighton. I was amazed how good it is .Extremely friendly and most of all good quality fresh fish.The chips were also fabulous. It may be small but this place is a great place to go and enjoy good seafood and it is licensed. We will certainly be visiting here again very soon...Try the specials also...
