Great service, great food and excellent recommendations of matching wines to the meal. Highly recommend the duck
This is our local, we are greated by name on the way in, our kids are treated as valued guests , the food changes slowly like a real French bistro, the reviews that complain about service or food are just crap, this has the best service in any restaurant and I’ve been to more than 30 Michelin 3 star restaurants overseas, if I was t trying to lose weight I’d be here daily
The views are amazing the the crab lasagna is absolutely fantastic! I cannot recommend enough!
Fantastic food and wine pairing. The themed nights are always a great gastronomical experience and the service is first class.
Great restaurant !
I went here for my 18th birthday with the parents. It was recommended to me by a friend. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu for all three of us and my mum took the vegetarian option.
The food was very good, although for the price I felt it could have been better (it cost approximately $130pp). The dishes were all very well presented and came steaming hot (or cold depending on the dish) and they were served over the course of a few hours (what you would expect from a french dining experience).
The service was exemplary, the waiters were all very kind and thoughtful as well as courteous. Absolutely no problem with the service. I've heard that they treat 'middle class' people not as well as those who look more wealthy but I can say from experience that it simply isnt true.
The ambiance was good. Unfortunately we were seated in the middle of the restaurant rather than closer to the edge, where the view is absolutely stunning. However, we also booked late so it was expected.
Overall, it was very good but also very pricey. It was an amazing experience to try my first fine dining, 5 course meal but I probably wont be going there again because of the high prices.
Really tasty food with a beautiful ambience. Would highly recommend the Lasagna, it was to die for! Service was a bit of a miss at times but overall great experience
This place is duck heaven! All I need is any of their duck dishes and their crepe suzette and I'll be happy for a while. The only criticism I have is that their service needs to be improved and the owner needs to really take a look at that. Not all diners are treated equally here.
the signature crab lasagna which we sampled (that I was mostly looking forward to) from the tasting menu was bit of a let down. might’ve been undercooked as I could only taste flour which was a shame because the bisque that accompanied it was absolutelyyyyy scrumptious; delicate but yet so full of flavour!! appetisers were alright and the duck a l’orange was dry; but it was the soufflé of the day made my night!! lovely selection of wine and lovely staff, may come back to sample the canard la presse in the future *note to place order >24 hours before*
Starting off the year always requires a little more motivation on my part to keep my everyday routine going, and having fully realised that the festive season has truly passed, I needed some sort of joy to keep my balance in life, and nothing brings me more joy than a girls night out for a long chat over wonderful food. Wanting to try something new, we headed over to the long established Lutece in Bardon for a memorable night's dinner over exceptional company.
It had been a while since i'd caught up with this particular friend; so we decided on Lutece Bistro and Wine Bar to catch up and immerse ourselves in French food.
It was a Thursday night and at 7pm, the restaurant was mostly full. We were shown our table on arrival, which i felt was a bit tight with all the cutlery, plates and drinking glasses.
Our waiter gave us our menus and we ordered our starters and entrees. We started with the baguette w/Lutece truffle butter ($9), foie gras & pheasant terrine ($32) and the snails (6 for $21).
The warm crusty baguette with truffle butter was excellent. I've only learnt to appreciate truffle recently and I haven't looked back since.
The terrine was a fairly new experience for me. It was tasty and well balanced when you combine all the components, on top of the accompanying bread.
The snails were good with the parsley and butter, but was under seasoned for me (i had to ask for salt at the table). The snails came with a special tong made for picking up the snail and tapping out the flesh. This was interesting, as i've yet to experience much French cuisine before.
For entree, we ordered scallops w/fresh pasta and black truffle ($36), sirloin steak tartare ($22) and the onion soup w/duck sausage ($19).
These three dishes were the highlight of the night for us. Scallops, fresh pasta and black truffle in a cream sauce-need i say more??
The steak tartare was the best I've had, anywhere. Period.
The onion soup was also, really good. I didn't know an onion soup could equate to so much. It was a complexly deep flavoured soup with a surprisingly meaty flavour. The melted gruyere and croutons, on top, really made this dish a banger.
Despite the waiter being unsure if we could eat more, we continued to order our mains. We had the crab lasagne w/creamy crustacean sauce ($42) and the braised tripe, trotters and vegetables ($36).
The crab lasagna (spanner crab) was very rich. The spanner crab flesh was not as
sweet as you would expect, from spanner crabs. The crustacean sauce lacked the crustacean flavour i anticipated. It was difficult to not compare this to Il Centro sandcrab lasagna, which i thought was much better.
The braised tripe and trotters was nice. The braising liquid was deeply flavoured and the gelatinous nature of the trotters is ideal, for people who enjoy that texture (me).
At this stage we were 2hrs 15min into our catch up/French immersion. We made it this far, so, there was noway we were going to skip dessert. We ordered the Souffle of the day (passionfruit) ($17) and coffee w/petite fours ($16).
When presented at the table, the souffle was a thing of beauty. The creme brulee which was part of the petite fours, was amazing. It was a bit disappointing to see, that one of the four selections was simply fruit.
None the less, this dining experience was very good.
Something really special. The view is spectacular. The menu spectacular. Get an uber - you don't want to be the designated driver.
Very well priced for food of this quality.
This is currently my favourite restaurant in Brisbane. Chef Romain delivers a wonderful fusion of French fine cuisine with the unique Queensland ingredients element all wrapped up with subtle yet delicious flavours. The famous sand crab lasagna (or specifically its sauce) is a real specialty. Service is great with friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive, waiters. This is fine dining so you pay accordingly but for what is delivered on your plate it is well worth it. Go here for a special occasion.
