Review Hatch & Co - Brisbane

Nancy Chen
Have been to this restaurant twice and on both occasions the staff we've encountered were all very friendly and attentive. Their modern Australian cuisine menu is quite conservative so it's good for group dining as you'd always get people who are not very adventurous. We tried the $49pp group menu the first time we visited and all the food was delicious. Thought it was a great way to try a bit of everything and the food was enough to share. Our whole party all enjoyed our lunch there. My husband and I visited for dinner on a Friday night. Had the duck breast and sirloin steak. Both were cooked very well. The steak was done medium rare, exactly how we asked for it. The duck breast skin was nice and crispy and the salad on the plate was good too. Great value when you use the Entertainment Book discount if you are a group of two. Love the alfresco dining environment.

I was extremely disappointed. The food was bland, poorly seasoned, and not very hot. Our pizza (not pictured) had yellow, just-melted cheese instead of bubbling, coloured molten cheese. The scallops were too small and tasted of nothing - and were overpowered by the sauce. The chips were crispy, which is great! But tasted mostly of oil. The calamari tasted nice, but it was also oily and soft. Pretty disappointing. Nothing shone. Nothing sparkled. I could have had better food - and have had better food - at a standard pub

A pretty average dining experience, nothing stood out good or bad. The prices on the menu are different to the prices on their website’s menu so check the attached picture for the actual prices. The restaurant plays modern music and has a calmer ambiance compared to other places at gasworks. The staff were quite attentive at the beginning with a different waiter check on us quite often before we had a chance to properly read the menu and make a decision. However we were only asked about how things were and if our meals were alright when most of us had finished. The staff had made a friendly enough first impression that we were comfortable just going up and asking for more cheese. This sort of service isn’t too bothersome though as the food was alright. An easy fix for this could be assigning waiters to zones so tables don’t feel overwhelmed or under-serviced. All in all If you’re in the area it could be nice to check out, but I wouldn’t come to gasworks for hatch in particular.

My margarita pizza was great, very happy with my order. I feel sorry for my partner though as his barramundi was tiny and he left feeling very hungry. The Barra is on the 'large' menu so I'd hate to see how small the 'small' menu is. It was cooked well though so I give it credit for that. Maybe if it was served with some carbs to actually satisfy it wouldn't have been so bad. See photos for yourself. The only other qualm I have is that the waitress cleared our plates while my partner still had a slice of my pizza in his hands. Could have waited the extra 30 seconds until he had finished.

Australian and European food. You can lunch or dinner for good prices and if you go between 3pm and 6pm, have the happie days where you get almost everything cheaper. You have pizzas for $ 15, cocktails for $ 10, beers for $ 8 ... It is in a very quiet and cozy place. The restaurant is modern and very well kept and clean. Your waiters are very friendly and attentive so you do not miss anything. You have a lot of variety on the menu and so you can choose different food the next time you approach. You have easy access with the car because there is parking in the square and other restaurants to eat different food, such as sushi.

The service was excellent and the food epic. I asked if they could veganise the Angel hair pasta, king prawns, garlic, chilli, parsley, garlic crumbs and they accommodated me without question. They have outdone themselves. They provided me with THE best pasta in Queensland! The warm pasta, perfect crunch of the broccoli, the mouthwatering mushrooms, pumpkin and eggplant with sautéed spinach and fresh garlic dressed in olive oil made me moan with every bite. It wasn't good, it was When Harry Met Sally moaning gooood! My thoughts went to Eat, Pray, Love and my hands tried to explain the deliciousness of the dish (true Italian style). I felt spoilt without guilt and conjured images of holidays with Dolce Far Niente. I think you deserve something beautiful. Give yourself permission to "just say yes"! It isn't often that vegans and non-vegans can truly feast together, however Hatch + Co not only made it possible but easily repeatable. Thank you so much! We'll definitely be back for more.

Probably the worst pizza I've had in a long while. Dough, napoli sauce and toppings all didn't work. Truffle arancini were though quite nice.

Pretty good but slightly aloof staff. You know the type I mean, the ones that bring food to your table and make zero eye contact, with a kind of "I've got somewhere more important to be" attitude haha. The guy at the register was a nice fella though. I'd probably go back.

Amazing flavours in all our meals and exceptional service! We were a table of 7 adults and 2 kiddies. The tall guy with the clasp earrings, was our waiter and he brought so much joy, warmth and laughter to our table but he was still professional and gave honest advice when it came to the menu and drinks. He knew the menu very well! Ethan made our family feel like we weren't living in an archaic city but rather a vibrant and unprejudiced city where all different people are welcome. The food he suggested all complimented each other well and we had one of the best night outs in Brisbane. I doubt any other restaurant would have surpassed Hatch and Co. because they don't have the powerful combination of a beautiful venue, great food and outstanding staff like Ethan, the guy with the clasp earrings 5 out of 5.

Service needs to be improved upon significantly. Our waiter had poor knowledge of the menu and didn't bother to check or clarify things that he didn't know. He was very inattentive and continually needed prompting at each stage of the meal...water, Bill, etc. He also charged us for an item that we were told would be complimentary. On top of this there was missing cutlery that we ended up replacing ourselves from other tables. The Grand Tour was poor value as we dined as a group of five and the value of the dishes was $50 less than what we paid for. Would not recommend this option - better off selecting your own dishes from the menu. The food in general was acceptable but not exceptional. The lamb shoulder was cooked well but did not need the added grains of salt which made it too salty. Not worth $49 per head.

We were very lucky to sample the new innovative menu and believe me we were not disappointed. The food was full of delicious flavours. Our starter consisted of calamari which I would say is the best of I have ever tasted, tender and perfectly cooked. Our mains which we shared were cooked to perfection and the sides complimented our choice of dishes. I'm surprised we could include desert but after seeing the menu we decided on two to share and we were very satisfied. Congratulations we will be back.

The food varied between nice and bland. The goat cheese soufflé was nice, the pizza tasted like they'd forgotten to put the topping on. We tried to use a voucher from the entertainment book, but they refused to accept it because of their intentionally misleading menu. The offer was for "buy 1 main get 1 free", however there are no mains on the menu, and they seem to be able to arbitrarily choose which meals they regard as mains and which they don't. I will never return to this place.

Just a great experience. Food was very good as was the wine we were recommended by Ethan our waiter. Who by the way run the front of house in superb fashion making everyone feel special. My wife and I would definitely recommend this place to dine.

Hatch & Co at Gasworks is a good location, indoor/ outdoor casual dining. We were a group of 8 looking for a local lunch option on a public holiday and decided on Hatch, it didn't disappoint. We selected a few of the share starters and from the share main menu. Everyone agreed the Lamb and the Chicken were the standouts. The service is good and the waitstaff interesting and friendly. Worth a visit for larger groups and a casual setting.

We had my daughters engagement there and the staff were excellent and helped out every way they could. The food was absolutely amazing and plenty of it. Thank you to all the staff for doing such an amazing job and making this day so special for us all. I would recommend you highly.

Great venue, atmposphere was great. Incredible aranchini balls and good wine. Great friendly service with quick and attentive staff and fastly served food for a decent price!
Monique Rigby
Food was great and was also well priced. Was disspointed only because there was 1 staff member on the floor to great customers, take orders and run food etc. I understand it's a week night but the area is to large for only 1 floor staff.

Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere, sensational service and incredible staff and management. Booked a dinner for 30 adults/kids under 14 years old and Shay was wonderful to accomodate a menu that was just perfect for everyone. Shannon was sensational from my first enquiry about the event. No problem too difficult for them to overcome. First time for us at Hatch&Co and we will most certainly be back again. Thank you all x

Love the banquet, such great value! Food is always on point and service to match. Well done!

Wow Hatch and Co. your food was awesome for Melbourne Cup and the drinks package spot on. Always there to fill the glass! As for the rest of the day, never again! No I be let down s know when the race was about to start, there was no volume and had nothing idea who won. As for best dress d fashions, interesting how you knew their names???? And 23 horses in a $5 sweep = $115 BUT a $10 win for third!! Seriously?????? Such a disappointing day But the wait staff were brilliant.

4th visit and never been disappointed. Always greeted with a smile and great atmosphere. Food is excellent and staff have a good knowledge of the menu. Will be back.

The food was average; edible, fresh, and arrived in a timely manner. However it was nothing to “write home about”. Beer choices were disappointingly limited at best, but at least it was chilled (didn’t bother to look at the wine). The service unfortunately destroyed the average rating; our waitress was rude and assuming - should have left before we finished seating ourselves. Addit- decor perhaps needs to be reviewed; dreadful colour choice for the outdoor bench seat cushions. Then perhaps the waitstaff can focus on their manners and service rather than lecture their customers on the ‘stain-ability’ of their cushions.
Sophia Claire
Good food, accommodating Chef that alternated the menu for allergies. Would go again and will recommend :)

Have dined here a couple of times now - the share plates are wonderful, very tasty & well presented. Please change the wine menu though...when we ordered a 2014 wine, we were served a 2016 bottle & the waiter couldn't explain why except 'this is all we have'...there's a lot of competition coming so these small issues need to be rectified.
James Roche
What an experience. We won a Facebook competition and we decided to to book in Saturday night. After being greeted by the lovely and attentive staff we were seated and had two courses of the most delicious food. The highlights from our eights dishes we had were the arancini balls and the lamb shoulder. We would like to thank the staff for a truely great dining experience!

Phuong Tran and I visit for a Sunday dinner. Arriving at 6pm we are promptly seated and our refreshing Cocktails are served in minutes. Our meals take 35 minutes to arrive due to some mix-up with their ordering system. <br/><br/>* Lamb Spare Ribs ($19) are perfectly seasoned and grilled. The 8 Lamb Ribs are tender and delicious with the Salsa Verde. At this price it is a bargain. Rating: 5<br/><br/>* Roasted Duck Breast ($35) is served with Grilled Shallots, Pickled Daikon and a Plum Sauce. This tasty dish is nicely balanced and PT enjoys her meal. Rating: 4<br/><br/>* I have a side of Chips ($8) with every meal here. They remain crisp even after 20 minutes as I finish my meal. <br/><br/>Overall, our dinner is enjoyable despite the delay. Service is friendly and helpful but can be improved with extra staff to assist the lone waiter. Thanks Hatch & Co.

Was excited to check out Hatch + Co with a group of friends for dinner. Organised baby sitters, got our 'good' clothes on and out we went. We arrived at 7pm so we had plenty of time to have a drink, ponder our order and get underway. It was well adorned with a crisp clean modern layout and style. The food was solid overall, with a decent range of options for mains, however this brings me to the first issue of the evening: the food took far too long to come out. Nearly an hour and a half to get our mains, which meant we were finishing up eating after 9pm with the staff starting to reset tables for the next day's service (because Brisbane).<br/>The second major issue for most of us was the insane noise level. I have eaten in a lot of establishments over the years, and haven't experience this level in a long time. It made conversing very difficult, and we all felt like we were yelling for most of the evening. While this may sound trivial, it means you are fatigued by the end of proceedings and head home with a really sore throat. Desert options felt limited by comparison with other restaurants in the same category around Brisbane. The staff, however, were excellent - attentive, observant and helpful.<br/>Glad I checked it out but probably wouldn't go back.

Had the worst ever meal at @hatchandco_ Newstead! Food took almost an hr to arrive, waiter was Super rude, poor food quality - I wouldnt come back for it; Most importantly, make sure ask the price or what is or not included, coz you will be shocked by the bill and the attitude you are given!<br/>As I am pregnant with a certain condition, I ordered steak with the potato replaced by extra vegies, the waiter offered saying 'oh yeah, we can give you the side greens', and I even asked what kind of greens and ensured its fully cooked. When the steak came, it was a steak with a MASSIVE bok choy, the waiter came again and said 'the chef thinks it might not be enough, we can get you a side plate'. But when it comes to the bill, i got accused for not hearing him 'I asked you 3 time, 3 times if you want to ADD a side!' he literally yelled at me a few times while all my colleagues were shocked that the waiter yelled at pregant lady for something he miscommunicsted!<br/>Also, we understood that the the lunch menu was $15 with a drink purchase (meal on its own would only be similar price as well) , but he said' 'it comes with a drink', so those who then ordered a $15 sandwich also paid for their drinks by default, becoz 'it comes with a drink'.<br/>There was only 3 or 4 tables there, we waited almost an hr for food to arrive. With this rude attitude.

Hatch & Co is situated in a lovely corner of Gasworks next to Reef and other restaurants. I’ve been here twice now for meals and both times have been good but lacking slightly to make it an overall excellent experience. <br/><br/>The first time we came for dinner and it wasn’t busy but took some time to get our food ordered and to come to the table. I enjoyed the entree and the main was good too. The second time for lunch was much busier but it was actually a better experience. I ordered a bread and dip entree with the main and both were delicious. <br/><br/>I would say service is the biggest con for this restaurant as the servers are polite but perhaps they are understaffed as it can take time to be attended to. However, the kitchen staff seem to work well once your order is taken the food is relatively quick to arrive and is of a high standard of flavour and presentation. <br/><br/>Despite that con I recommend this restaurant as the food was outstanding with flavour and I am definitely interested in coming back to this restaurant as the second time around was better than the first and I looked forward to trying any new dishes or menu.

Have been to Hatch & co a few times now but sadly to say, you're slipping. Service staff were friendly enough but it took us well over an hour to get our mains, though after a tasty garlic and cheese pizza entree.<br/>I had the truffled mushroom risotto special, which was rather well made, however relatively small for a main at the price offered. I'm not a glutton but a half serve again would have been reasonable. The burgers my friends had were light on for filling for the price. I've seen a lot better for 6 bucks at the local chippy. Sorry Hatch, but your value for money and service times are losing my attention.

One of my favourite casual dining places, the big share platters are fantastic for groups. Only downside is that the lemon meringue cocktail was taken off the menu - thankfully the bartenders still make it because it’s Devine!!

Have to say the place is not as good anymore. The steak we ordered was quite tough and the staff seemed to be rushing their service even though it wasn’t too busy

Rated 3.5.<br/>Went here on a cool Winter's night for an impromptu mid-week dinner with the partner.<br/><br/>We ordered the shared plate, 'honey and ginger pork shoulder with smoked apple and almonds' - unfortunately the pork was a little dry and tough, and the honey and ginger sauce was a little too sweet; although the smoked poached apple was nice and the almonds added a textural touch.<br/><br/>We also ordered a side of the 'fries', which was pretty standard.<br/><br/>Casual ambience with indoors and outdoors seating (both breezy and cool regardless on a winter's night). Very friendly and helpful service. Reasonable prices.<br/><br/>Overall, good potential for a great dinner experience within the Gasworks precinct, unfortunately missed the mark on this particular occasion.

Friendly service. Arancini balls for entree were delicious. Ordered the chicken maryland main which was very bland in taste. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

I went with my Canberra friends to Hatch and Co on Good Friday, as Facebook told me it was one of the few places open in Brisbane. Parking is ample since its at the Gasworks precinct. Adam and Dan got most entrees while I was starving so I was the only person to get a main. The entrees they got were the crispy chicken wings with Parmesan and black pepper, I tried one of the wings and they were drenched in grated Parmesan and something else I couldn't put my finger on. They were crispy initially but quickly became soggy. <br/><br/>We got the crisp calamari with chili jam and lime, Dan asked for the chili jam on the side since he can't tolerate spice but it already that way. The crisp calamari were crisp, tender little morsels, the chili jam was extremely mild to the extent that Dan could actually have some. <br/><br/>The truffle and pea arancini are $5 for each, with them being a fair size, I guess maybe 10cm in diameter? They had a super golden, crunchy exterior that was an absolute delight to slice through. Adam was complaining that the interior was a bit bland but it was a gooey, super truffle flavoured risotto with shriveled and wrinkly green peas, they were putting down exactly what they were saying! <br/><br/>The house made cheesy garlic bread was made uncheesed thanks to Dan's extreme lactose intolerance, and it came with a giant dish of whipped butter. I'm a butter fiend and I found this too much butter, I'd have preferred it if it was a giant hunk of bread with a side of whipped GARLIC butter, at least that would've made sense. The amount of butter was so extreme that even using a quarter of the butter allowed the bread to be dripping wet and have to scrape some of it off.<br/><br/>Lastly, I got the Italian sausage, pistachio, garlic, parmesan, mozzarella and basil pizza. I got this one cause it sounded a bit unusual, I like the amount of basil on the pizza, I always find most Italian places will put like three leaves on a pizza. Why? Basil is delicious and there should be a piece on each slice, or a side of basil so I can graze as I go. There's the Viet herb eater in me speaking, the more veggies the better! I quite liked the Italian sausage, juicy and well seasoned, the pistachios were odd but I didn't mind it. In general I found this pizza not as appealing as I'd like just due to the lack of golden colouring, the crust wasn't bad with that being said it was just a bit anemic in appearance.<br/><br/>All in all, not too bad a place to go to. I would personally tweak the menu a touch, and I'd have liked an appetiser deal like 4 for $25 or something, but the place is pretty, the food is well presented and is exactly what you're expecting.

Managed to get a table for Friday lunch no problem.<br/>Not as busy as it used to be - which is actually very nice.<br/>Sat outside- was a bit warm and glarey but there was a bit of a breeze. It’s very noisy because you’re basically sitting on the main road into the area.<br/>Lunch menu is limited but good value. Drinks extra. Coffee was good but not hot.<br/>Service friendly and non intrusive.<br/>On site parking is free for the first 2 hours.

This place has a wonderful ambience which is what drew us towards the place but once we started eating our meals I was blown away. This place has hands down the best garlic bread I’ve ever had in my life.<br/><br/>I had the goats cheese soufflé accompanied by the potato mash for my main which is from the light and sides menu. It was incredibly filling and reminded me so much of my own family’s cooking. I felt like I was having a home cooked meal because of the amount of attention and effort that was put into making as well as the detailed ingredients.

All credit to the staff here who are friendly and professional. Many food establishments can take tips on service from these guys. <br/><br/>Food didn't disappointment. Lamb shoulder was melt in your mouth good. Woodfire chicken was juicy and tasty. <br/><br/>Thanks also for the complimentary rocket salad.<br/><br/>Will be back again.

Really nice food with a respectable price for the quality provided. Service was friendly and helpful. Perfect place for a lunch with family and the cocktails are great with an extensive range of styles.

We came here for a friends birthday. I shared a pizza with someone which was lovely. Service was good, absolutely love the location and food was good too

I've been back here a few times. The quality of the food here is second to none - even the sides are amazing! Probably the best restaurant at gasworks.

Pretty busy on Saturday but service was good and our drink orders taken unfortunately they weren't delivered. Still we moved on and things improved . The waiter was informed and engaging. Made some great and honest recommendations. The lamb was great. Overall a good night. I thought price wise it was on the money. I'll be going back.
Indeahgrace
Nice food that is quick and flavoursome. The staff were pretty good, maybe lacked a little in customer service. The kids pizza was quite large and was an actual wood-fired pizza ( not a frozen pizza). Plenty of food to choose from on the menu. You can do share plates, little snacks, mains and dessert. We will definitely be returning!
The Invisible Food Critic
I usually go next door for seafood whenever I'm at gasworks, however my client and I thought it was good to try out hatch & co. The pizzas weren't great, but the pork shoulder was amazing. Portion size was okay, service was prompt, ambience wasn't bad; I guess it's still a good place for meetups and having a good yarn after a long day of work. Prices are slightly high as usual with these places; not in a rush to return as there's other selections around. I rate this place a 6/10, it's not bad... average plus a little due to attention to detail

Hatch & Co. is one of the best casual fine dining experiences Brisbane has to offer. Much like previous comments it has a casual vibe but the foods speaks volumes for its character - great tasting food. Portion sizes are appropriate but not huge if you're after a glutinous meal but don't let that discourage you from the great menu options on offer (I eat more than the average human). I had a perfectly cooked wagyu rump and broccoli. I will be ordering several more bowls of that broccoli in the future. Definite recommend. Will definitely be returning.

What a fantastic dinner. Firstly, the wine list is really carefully thought out. Oysters were a special today so I had to order a half dozen as an entree. They weren't the largest oysters out there but they did taste fresh and delicious. The arancini balls were out of this world - a must have. The great thing is they sell them individually so everyone can have equal numbers (hooray!). <br/><br/>My barramundi for main course was cooked to perfection. I wish I'd ordered some sides as it needed something else to go with it. <br/><br/>I ordered the meringue with passionfruit curd, mango and pineapple sorbet for dessert. All the flavours were delicious but it was dominated by the sorbet. I would have liked more of the meringue but it was still a great dessert and didn't seem too naughty. <br/><br/>The food is fine dining standard but the environment is quite laid back and the wait staff were all friendly. The light show from the gasometer and watching kids ride their scooters there adds some interest. I've already picked out my next meal from the menu and look forward to returning.

This restaurant has a bar section and tables and appeals to a wide range. There were young singles, families and older couples the night I visited. Friendly staff showed us to our table and explained the specials. We ordered a dozen oysters and kingfish tartare for entree. The wine was a sparkling from Spain. Main was a roast mushroom, garlic and Chilli pizza with smoked mozzarella... amazing flavours. The whole creamy garlic cloves really made this main come alive. We didn't have time for dessert but will be back again as we enjoyed our experience.

Probably tried a lot from the menu since I had a birthday dinner last saturday with a bunch of friends. <br/>We had the oysters which came in a warm plate with stones- visually appealing and tasty at the same time. <br/><br/>Overall food was really satisfactory- the chicken shared plate was fantastic and I cant wait to go back and try it again with my family. It was really good- I was pretty dissapointed that my friends all devoured it before I got another bite!<br/> The steak shared plate was also perfectly cooked, as was the lamb. The only room for improvement for lamb is that if it has some sort of sauce that went along with it I wouldve had more...lamb does tend to get a bit bland after eating. The fish shared plate seemed a little overcooked but that was not such a big issue. <br/><br/>All of the sides (kingfish, beetroot hummus, chips, calamari etc) were just perfect- and also consistent as we ordered each of them twice after realising how good they were. The chips in particular are one of the best- the seasoning not too overpowering or salty. <br/><br/>We also ordered some pizzas- nice and simple; also on my list to try again when I get back.<br/>The waiter also threw us in a spare steak which was a great bonus. The atmosphere is casual but at the same time has a fine dining feel to it - would love to see how it is during daytime. <br/>Staff were great, refilling our water whenever possible and coming back to check if we needed anything without hovering over us too much. <br/><br/>It was sad that we had to leave earlier than we wanted since we had another venue booked for drinks. Wouldve loved to try the desserts, but will save that for later! Everyone was really happy with the food and service and so was I. Cant wait to come back with a more intimate group to have a relaxed time. <br/>

A great smart casual restaurant with the perfect selection of menu options. The shared boards are great between two and the sides are fantastic! Definitely give the lamb board a go and try allllll the sides!<br/><br/>

Had the pomegranate mocktail, the shared lamb, flat bread with dip and the broccoli. Wonderful flavors in particular the flat bread. A nice spot for a good meal in Newstead.

Great location and atmosphere at Hatch & Co. They cater well for large and small groups. I shared the crispy barramundi and swimmer crab pasta. Both dishes were well balanced but very rich. Can't wait to go back and try some of the share plates.

Dined at Hatch & Co. Was informed they offered numerous gluten free meals. Once arrived and questioned there was very limited options of gluten free - only one thing they could guarantee there was no cross contamination appropriate for coeliac disease. . This was for lunch. Let's say it was a disappointing experience.

Set menu lunch in December for work Christmas - went on recommendation of staff who had been before. However the food given was a lot less than what he had on his previous visit. Not enough food and everyone left hungry. Service wasn't so good either but they were very busy.

Hatch & Co was a great experience, the views were pretty, the vibe was great and the food was very nice. It was fairly expensive, but worth the experience.

Went to Hatch on 13th December for my father's 70th birthday celebration. Having visited the restaurant on many occasions in the past we were looking forward to an enjoyable lunch. Unfortunately the order was botched, despite having been repeated back to me at the table by the waiter. Thankfully the two children's meals turned up quickly and an hour later we received one meat main and a starter, without serving spoons. Surely the staff should have realised something was amiss with so little food having been delivered for so large a party? The service was shambolic at best and we all left hungry and disappointed. The restaurant did give us the food we had originally ordered to take away but, after two and a half hours with two young children, we had had enough. An email sent to the restaurant offering them the opportunity to apologise has met with no response. It is disappointing that one of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane has offered such a sub par experience.

Over the past 2 years this place (at Gasworks) became my quarterly staple. Well trained and polite (and not overly friendly) staff is a big plus in my view. Relaxed atmosphere at any time of the day or day of the week :) Food is delicious and sumptuous. Whilst regular change of menu is excellent I'd still like to see mussels and stuffed fried olives return :) all in all: place worth checking out.

We came here on a Saturday night and ordered the duck ragu and spatchcock with a delicious meringue dessert. Service was friendly and when it started to get chilly, staff brought out little quilts, which was a lovely cosy touch to the atmosphere! I would recommend the spatchcock as it is amazing! The duck ragu was OK, nothing spectacular and slightly bland.

Whilst the location and ambience were quite nice, the food was quite disappointing. I don't believe it was worth the price. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

Situated in Gasworks, Newstead, it is a great place for lunch and dinner.  Service is upbeat and attentive with outdoor (but still undercover) and indoor seating available.  The menu isn't extensive but they do it well with every dish coming out looking polished and made you excited to dig in.  Flavours are good and the beef cheeks are tender and full of flavour.  Their ragu pasta was also delicious and I was unable to finish it.

This is our favourite place to go for a nice night out! Our first experience here was to die for - we tried a number of the small plates and pizzas and couldn't fault a thing - it was all incredibly delicious, especially the beetroot hummus. On our second visit, we went back with friends and unfortunately the food we got wasn't quite of the same standard, some different choices that weren't so flavourful, smaller portions and it seemed like a little less love and generosity went into it. But that being said, overall we still enjoyed it & will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Great mix of dishes with a modern Australian take. <br/><br/>The lamb was DELICIOUS. <br/><br/>The watermelon salad was very interesting - quite a different flavour fusion to what I'm use to, so sitting on the fence as to whether I actually like it or not. Worth a try though!<br/><br/>I'm a seafood lover, and I was definitely NOT a fan of the fish. Dry and tough.<br/><br/>All three desserts I ordered were amazing (third - not pictured, was the Eton mess)!

Wow!! What a beautiful restaurant and dining experience. Impeccable service from Eamon and Kim. I would highly recommend this dining experience to anyone,I would travel from the Sunshine Coast to dine here again.

Monday. A great busy fun atmosphere and it was a monday. Food was all great, great colous and ingredients. Tried 9 different dishes. Amazing waiter. Nice work

This had been an old standby, but stopped by for lunch on Saturday and the menu has really shrunk, with fewer options for meats and pasta. Several mains are "share" size and priced, and a less attractive menu for a single diner. <br/>I was advised the reason for the reduced weekend menu was "because we are doing breakfast".
Samford
Had brunch with friends on Sunday. Look the menu is limited in that to get more than two or three items the bill starts to increment by $5 or $6 which is a little disappointing. I had the Salmon and brioche which was generous and a good dish. I notice some negative comments here on service, but we couldn't fault it at all. Very attentive and swift. I'd be happy to dine here again.

Limited Menu. I ate at Hatch and Co 2 weeks ago and was disappointed. I had eaten there about 3 months prior and enjoyed it but this time I found the menu was very limited for a single person, no steak option other than the special that had every veg listed I do not like. With my main meal I ordered a bowl of chips with aioli which never came but they tried to charge me for at the end of the night..<br/>BRING BACK THE STEAK WITH HORSERADISH CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/>Very Disappointed

Good food, the service... hmm.... Came here on Sunday. The food was pretty amazing. Generous sized pizzas. The service was great until we paid. We hung around for a little while after and we were ignored for the rest of our stay, prior to paying the staff continued to top our water glasses, after we paid it was all over!

Diana. Interesting breakfast menu, loved the addition of fresh chilli on request with my avocado. The pistachio dressing was also a stand out with this dish. My partner loved the flat bread. Only let down was the coffee- needed more of a punch & the flat white was not flat. However had a nice creamy texture with good flavor. Liked the fact you can be seated with the pooch on one side of the cafe & offered water for her -good service thanks

We had a group booking for their New Years function. The venue looked fantastic, the service was excellent, and the food was great! We will definitely be coming back to try out the whole menu!

Best NYE venue I have been to. A group of 20 friends and I decided on spending New Years at the Hatch & Co due to location and the value of the 3 course meal and all you can drink beer, wine, champagne, spirits and selected cocktails. We were not disappointed. The service was incredibly efficient, attentive, professional and friendly, the venue was well set out with a brilliant atmosphere, and the food was fantastic. For a alternate drop large group service my sirloin was the best steak I have had in a long time perfectly cooked and the flavours complimented each item on my plate. I thought nothing could top that until desert came out. I normally don't order desert but I could not stop eating the chocolate mouse with pralines and butterscotch ice cream - beautiful! I can't wait to go and order from the main menu and would highly recommend this restaurant to everybody

Second time I've eaten here and it won't be the last everything about this place is amazing from the atmosphere created by the gasworks to the fit out right through to the staff and food I rate this as one of the best in Brisbane and look forward to the next time I dine at hatch and co. Thanks again guys

Dropped in on a Tuesday night and at a little before 8 and the place was packed. Service was still attentive and friendly & the food was gorgeous. The wood fired Scampi was the star of the night. Perfectly cooked, fresh & tender and beautifully seasoned. Same with the King prawn dish which ran a close second. The selection of Wines by the glass was excellent and reasonably priced. We loved it.<br/>Shoutout to our young waiter who made us feel very welcome and gave great service in busy conditions, but unfortunately we didn't catch his name.

Terrible service, overpriced ordinary food. We had brekkie yesterday... service was slow, unfriendly, pretentious and staff didn't seem to know any details of the menu options. Ordered 2 coffees, 2 baked eggs and a side order of beans for the exorbitant price of $50!!! The coffees were lukewarm at best and the eggs under-cooked (whites still translucent). Char-grilled toast accompanied the meals but was dry - had to ask twice for butter and wait for it... by then the toast was cold. Salt & pepper not on the table but when delivered couldn't possibly be a smaller amount. More butter was delivered after the meal was finished... too late. If you're going to charge these sorts of prices you should be on top of your game - definitely not so in this case! I wont bother going back but I doubt the staff care... there are plenty more first timers to give this place a go. I suspect they don't rely on return business!

Great share plate for two. Good was tastey and fresh. Would go back again

Nice food. Casual dining experience. Enjoyed the best dessert I have ever had here (hazelnut sponge, salted caramel, white choc mousse) but then they removed it! Lamb shoulder was nice. Waiter was really good and knew his stuff ! He didn't try to over sell us which was refreshing and great !

Not so satisfied. On booking earlier in the day in person, we were told that our name was not down., and after mentioning that the name was verified for spelling twice and also mobile number taken and hand written, very abruptly advised that they do not take bookings by pen by only typed. Eventually told not problem ,although the by this time felt very uncomfortable, we were shown to a table. Food was good and tasty but unfortunately by this time felt unwelcome and awkward.
Food4fashion
Dissatisfied and overpriced. It was the first time I had gone to Hatch and Co for dinner and was quite excited because I had heard good things. My friend ordered the duck and I ordered the steak. The duck was bland, and the steak was both over priced and over cooked. For the price, the servings were small. Overall, I was disappointed and probably won't be coming back. The service as food, however.
Saraeatlove
Not just a one off........there's now two!. We love coming to Hatch great location and fun vibe. Visited both venues, prefer Gasworks, it's always so buzzy.<br/>The menu being modern Australian changes seasonally but what happened to the lemon merengue ?<br/>Want to shout out about the floor staff always smiley and happy even though those guys run.

Disappointing service. We dined recently as a group of four and had high expectations which were unfortunately not quite met, and this was wholly down to the service. Our waiter didn't introduce himself or take the time to run through the menu/highlight any specials. When it came to our wine it was kept away from the table in an ice bucket and we had to repeatedly ask a couple of different staff members before finally having our glasses re-filled. In fact we would more than likely have had a second bottle if they had been more attentive. It was not all negative, the food was very tasty and well presented. We shared the lamb, chicken, chilli fries and a couple of salads. Unfortunately on this occasion the poor service overshadowed the quality cooking. All in all we had been looking forward to a nice dining experience but were left feeling a little lack lustre about the whole thing.
Lisa Rich
I have gone to eat there three times and walked out every single time as we have had to wait over 45mins at the bar to be seated. Two out of the three times we had a booking. We gave up and haven't gone back since.

Wear earplugs. This restaurant has "music" that is VERY loud, thumps away and is particularly intrusive. We were planning to stay for Sunday lunch, but were unable to, as our conversation couldn't compete with the beat. A short tiime later, this restaurant's Management personnel were observed being particularly obstructive and rude when approached by organisers during a free Council "Shakespeare in the Park" playat the adjacent "gasworks venue". They had been politely asked to turn down their bass (thumping) music so that folk could hear the words of the actors. The sheer volume of this music was grossly disturbing to many in the park. Not only did Hatch & Co Management refuse to reduce the volume to a reasonable level (they were asked on 3 different occasions) but the manner in which the 2 "gentlemen" objected to being politely asked (with customers all around and listening) was rude and arrogant. Their bad manners and lack of consideration for a performance which was actually bringing them in custom, was remarkable. Many of the folk (including their regular customers) commented to organisers that they were disgusted at this restaurant's lack of co-operation for such a small time frame on this Sunday afternoon. A restaurant is more than just food. It is also about courtesy and goodwill to customers and potential customers. This restaurant stood out because of it's lack of goodwill and professionalism yesterday.
Theitalianfoodie
My partner took me here for my birthday on a Wednesday night. Amazing good, service & amosphere! We had the 12 hour slow cooked pork collar bond e share plate. The meat was so tender. I reccommend the mango panna cotta for dessert it was to die for. Will deffinetly be returning back here
Sam Smith
Disappointing & rude. Not worth waiting for 30 minutes for a table & 30 minutes to receive orders because they forgot you were waiting & people with children at home take preference only to be told countless times it's your fault for not making a reservation (in a very rude way)- no apologies. <br/><br/>Don't bother there's better food & service elsewhere in tenneriffe.
Orderatab
Exceptional. This place is the best food I have ever had in Brisbane if not anywhere. Seriously the food is incredible and nothing short of beautiful and tasty. Beautiful looking place that plays great music whilst you eat and lovely surrounds. I had been here previously and just had a coffee and I was impressed, as I was also with my second visit. This is my new favourite place to eat in Brisbane hands down and I will be looking forward to returning hopefully soon

Amazing food! Try the mouth watering calamari, woodfired flat bread w beetroot and humus dip, mushroom risotto - amazing lunch!
Nicola
Great restaurant! Everyone enjoyed entrees, mains and dessert. Service was average not outstanding. Highly recommend the chicken wings, gnocchi and hazelnut passionfruit dessert. We all had a great night out and would return.
James
Great location and service. Food is perfectly cooked but a bit expensive and everything is an extra. Lamb platter plus $ 10 per side of pumpkin etc. Nice adult night out without the kids.

Overrated. Heard about this place from our foodie friend.overall experience was really bad. We had to ask three different waitresses for a glass of water. Waited for over an hour for main dish which turn out to be undercooked pasta. The flavour was very bland.<br/>The manager asked hows the food and when we said the pasta was undercooked, she proceed to say that they always cooked the pasta al dente. Well they must have different definition of al dente to everyone else in Italy. Pretty sure al dente doesnt mean rubbery pasta which really unpleasant to eat. If you want to have some pasta, you better go to the twins on the village at st lucia which served authentic italian pasta for half the price.

Excellent service and very cool decor. Nice touches like blankets for outdoor diners which went down a treat last night as was freezing! Great selection of food - croquettes were delicious as was the chocolate fondant. Mr H had the steak which was cooked to perfection and was delicious. I had the pizza which was nice but I regretted not ordering something else. Wine by the glass selection not that extensive but still a good range. All in all a fantastic dining experience heightened by an excellent service team.

Great place for dinner!. Hatch & Co. at Gasworks Newstead is the first place to be reviewed by The Food Nomad and I have to say, what a great start!<br/>We went there for dinner last night for a bunch of friends and had a wonderful time. What stands out about the place apart from the amazing food, is the great service!<br/>We had (not just me, everyone together):<br/>Snacks (with drinks to wash em down):<br/>* Chipotle BBQ'd chicken wings( no photo. I devoured it as soon as it was on the table, with some help ofcourse.)<br/>* Beetroot hummus, dill, pistachio & feta with woodfired bread (very yum, fresh and melt in your mouth kind)<br/>Mains:<br/>* Pork cheek Ragù, basil, chilli, soft herbs & tagliatelle <br/>* Macleay Valley braised rabbit, cavalo nero, parmesan & thyme gnocchi, black pudding, mustard jus (that was me. Yes I had rabbit for the first time in my LIFE!!!! Yes, I know I shouldn't take such risks after king prawns tried to kill me. But it was soooo yum!)<br/>I had my meal with a glass of their Tasmanian Dereant Valley Pinot Noir. I've developed a liking for this smooth red which complimented my meal very well. Thanks to Bob's random wine connoisseur friend for the suggestion.<br/>The boys had the Pizzas and loved them:<br/>* Chorizo, caramelised onion, goat's feta, oregano<br/>* Margarita, crushed tomato, fior Di latte, torn basil<br/>I know you probably haven't heard of some of the ingredients used above, but trust me, the food made you feel like the chef who made this menu is a genius for throwing these ingredients together and making such amazing meals.<br/>For a change we DID not have dessert. I had a nice strong long black and the boys had a few more drinks.<br/>If I could change one thing about the place it would be parking. Really, the restaurant is amazing and if you are there for just 2 hours, there is free parking below. But if you are there longer, park elsewhere because looping into the car park is apparently not permitted. That is just a minor issue though.<br/>Overall, I really liked the place. It is a relaxed but fancy place. I like the decor and the lighting. The warm and magical ambiance adds to the great food experience. Look forward to going back there again.
Alexandra Isgro
I ordered the rabbit and gnocchi dish for main and it was amazing! The sides of potato and pumpkin were also really nice. For dessert I had the dark chocolate fondant and it was one if the best desserts I've ever had. Would definitely return to order all of these dishes again.
Katie P
Disappointing bland meal. I chose one of the pasta dishes and it sounded delicious on the menu, but I found it very bland, and oily too. Won't be back in a hurry.
Born2Eat
Very disappointed from the start. Saw steak on the special's board and ordered that but was told that they don't have it anymore. Ended up ordering a pasta dish from the limited menu choice which was an average dish. Noticed that they left the steak dish on the special's menu for the rest of my dining time and a table next to us ordering it ok. Grrr! Wife's dish was nothing special either. Finished our meals and tried to get waitress attention to pay the bill ..... 5 mins..... 10 mins.... Nothing. She was busy chatting at another table where her friend was dining. Tried to get eye contact with the male waiters, they ignored me also. Finally paid after 20 minutes. Poor customer service.

Get ready for effusive praise, this place is a dining delight! <br/><br/>If I could take up residence at Hatch and Co I would, luckily I live just around the corner. 6 Months on now and I have tried and loved almost all of the menu items - food, wine and cocktail. <br/><br/>Mouth-watering, eclectic and wonderfully balanced flavours, textures and meal sizes, from snack/small plate to glorious, food-coma inducing share plates. Flavours and dishes that are bold (smack you in the face bold) when you want them to be – and conversely subtle, as if they were tiny little palate ballerinas - dancing perfectly in time and arriving right on cue, as if being conducted with symphonic like purpose and harmony. <br/><br/>Every time I experience Hatch and Co (which undeniably, is a few too many times now), I feel like an extensive research survey has been conducted with my taste buds prior to arrival and the results memorised and delivered effortlessly from the manager, to the head chef, table and bar staff. (I’m sure it only looks effortless from my comfortable seat, glass of wine in hand, warm inner dining glow continuously escalating.)<br/><br/>The staff are friendly, engaging, know their stuff and are full of endearing sass, none more than the charming pocket dynamo they have as Manager, who really brings it all together with style and panache. She pops up delightfully, unexpected and undetected, just in time to encourage my admittedly easily manipulated “food and wine Id” to indulge in one more palate-enthralling morsel. <br/><br/>Now that I reflect on how packed it is on a regular basis, increasing my chances of missing a “booking”... I’d really rather you guys didn’t go there. <br/><br/>It’s guuuuuurd.

Agree with 'boxing rocky'. Parking cost was the sting to our otherwise great night out. Hard to fault the food and service but the parking cost did add up and will makes us rethink a return visit.

First visit to this restaurant. Loved the food and service was great.
The Two Tasters
First time at Harch & Co and had Lamb shoulder share plate. It was flavoursome, very tender with meat ffalling off the bone. Starters and sides were all good too. Great place, good value and great service by Hayley and rest of the staff. Happy to recommend and definately going back. Only regret is we did not try this place earlier.

We will be back!. The food here is fresh and tastes divine, the wait staff are great to deal with (I think the waiter I have had a couple of times is Kim) however all are very knowledgable of the menu and open to suggest their favourite dishes. I was very impressed when we went there for a birthday recently and brought our own cake, yes there was a cutting fee however I was more than happy to pay this when the cake came out with beautiful fresh berries, cream and a gorgeous sauce to match the cake. Very Impressed Hatch & Co.

The opening of Hatch & Co has most certainly lifted the bar!!. I have been here a couple of times and it really is fantastic! <br/><br/>The service is some of the best I have experienced in Brisbane, staff are friendly, professional and knowledgable.<br/><br/>The food... the lamb ribs are sensational, just thinking about them makes me hungry, the pizzas are great and good to share, and basically any tapas plate thus far has been a winner.<br/><br/>I will definitely be back again!!

My new fav place. Been here multiple times and I find myself dreaming of the food and wanting to go back every month. Share plates are a generous size and delicious. Great friendly service and lovely ambiance. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantasic. The meal and environment of the whole place was absolutely amazing. If you go and i recommend you do try the pork cheek it is wonderful.<br/><br/><br/><br/>g

Pre-dinner drinks, very pleasant. My wife and I stopped in here for pre-dinner drinks on a Sunday evening and found the staff and service wonderful. A good drink list and James Squire on tap which was good. We nibbled on the chicken wings and Croquettes which we would also recommend. We were able to walk from the Emporium Hotel where we were staying.Worth a visit. Good quality at a reasonable price.

Loved it!. Loved our dinner here! We had a shared plate of the chicken which was amazing. You need to try their french fries! Amazing!

All Good. Rocked up for lunch was accommodated immediately(partner plus baby) helpful swift service...Had the scampi as a special which were cooked perfectly with pizza and two sides - the pizza was to die for, hand made base a loved pizza all the way to me fantastic.Have recommended to a lot of friends -great stuff keep up the good work.

Great food, great place!. Been wanting to try this place for a while now, but it has always been booked out. Anyways finally got to go there and had an awesome meal. Had delicious BBQ Pork belly entrée, then a very flavoursome mussel dish for main. Then for dessert a deconstructed tiramisu. It was all super tasty and very well presented.

Disappointed. My husband and I went for a quick drink here this afternoon with our 14 month old who was not being disruptive or boisterous but we were told to leave in a very unreasonable fashion. The waiter was extremely rude. <br/>We have eaten here once before and it was average. Very disappointed. We will not be recommending this place to anyone.<br/><br/><br/>-----21 Mar, 2014-----<br/><br/>Disappointed. Worth a visit. We have heard a lot of mixed reviews about this place and thought we should go and have a sticky beak. Well I am glad we did. The feel of the restaurant was lovely and relaxed. There were a lot of people in there for a Monday lunch, which added to the great buzz of the place.<br/><br/>Wait staff were wonderful, could not fault it.<br/>We tried the hummus which was really lovely.<br/>We had the share plate chicken. WOW so tender and the chickpea salad was incredible.<br/>Hubby had the passion fruit dessert and it would have to be one of the best desserts ever. Even as a pastry chef, I was left speechless.<br/><br/>We had a lovely time great food. Worth every penny

Where do I start? From the moment we were seated the night was absolutely flawless. The manager (Ed) had total control, Maris sublime... and food exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking to have a great night out of quality food, beverage and service. Cheers Hatch and Co...
Pat
Great stuff. Tip would be to choose a couple of sides and tapas to get the full range of flavours
Epicurean
Extremely happy with this new eatery. We were shouted dinner here by friends this week, and so much the better we are for discovering this relatively new venue at the Gasworks complex. Being a grill fan, I was blown away with the slow-cooked lamb shoulder and the grilled organic chicken, both share plates but two of the best I've ever eaten. I'll be back to try some of their other dishes: There seems to be an impressive selection of small and large meals, snacks and pizzas. We had no complaints with the service. Only downside here is proximity to a busy intersection, virtually at your feet. Pity we live southside, otherwise we'd be back regularly. Highly recommended.
Natasha Janey
Each time I have been to Hatch it has been perfect. The front of house girl who seated us is delightful and very personable. The chefs know their food, the scotch fillet was amazing. Will definitely be revisiting.
Roy
Great Lunch. We had the wagyu and seafood specials, both were great and nice flavours. We ended up with the passionfruit dessert and it was fantastic, will highly recommend this dessert :)

Focus on the positives, please!!. Lovely quick cheap lunch shared with friend today. Grain salad, broccoli side, lamb rib special. Tasty and great service.<br/>Then had to deal with the young lady who appears to be in charge of front of house to make a booking for an evening next week. The business could benefit greatly if this lady could try some " can do" rather than mentioning all the negatives- such as you can come early but we want the table back by 8 p.m. And we don't serve off the menu till 6. I would be surprised if bar snacks were not available all day- she didn't mention it!! Attitude is that we will be doing you a favour if we take your booking. Shame.
Guardalamarissa
Rude Staff. Nothing worse than having obnoxious staff speak rudely to you when you try to make a reservation over the phone. The lady laughed at me when I tried to book a table for a Friday night. I'm sorry your high and mighty that my feeble attempt to eat at your kingdom was so hilarious to you. Perhaps your employer should reconisider who they hire. I'm not even going to bother trying to visit this establisment again.
Frank
Had to give it a try but never ever again. The food is so bland and lacks the basic ingredients it's called seasoning. It also needs a friendly approachable host. So many other great places to spend you money. Believe the hype don't go.
Urbanites
So want to like it, but.... We were excited to have a shiny, new eatery/drinkery but our most recent visit left us cranky. The French(?) waitress (who sounds like it might be the young woman referred to in 'VN - Diner from Brisbane's' review) was officious and mostly more interested in her phone.<br/><br/>We were ignored coming in and sat ourselves. The place was almost empty so that didn't seem to be a big deal. But alas - Waitress (glaring): "Did somebody seat you here?" Us: "No, we sat ourselves." Waitress: "Are you here for drinks and some food?" Us: "Yes" - although I was tempted to say: "No, just taking up space to enjoy your oxygen."<br/><br/>She returns to slap one drinks menu (no option for food for us) on the table. While we had our drink, our friend stood at her station texting with her phone heavily disguised behind a menu. We skolled, paid and left.
Davski
Delicious. My wife enjoyed a croquet for her entrée followed with a sand crab salad as a main and I would highly recommend my entrée which was a few very nice cuts of pork belly in a bbq sauce with a crispy skin barramundi as a main.<br/>The service was exceptional with knowledgeable waitresses.<br/>If I had to fault anything it would have to be a limited beer selection but the vast wine selection compensated for that.<br/>We will definitely return to try the rest of the menu.
Wn
Food is good as always but we had a really rude waitress who didn't speak English very well. She rolled her eyes when we didn't order drinks and was abrupt throughout the night. With that many good restaurants around Brisbane nowadays service like this is inexcusable.
Professor Food
Popular but Crushed!. This place is clearly very popular and has already established a following. The food is OK but some of the signature dishes - the slow cooked roasts - are surprisingly bland. Service can be a bit hit and miss. The main concern for me was that the tables are crammed in too close together. I'd go again, maybe for lunch instead of dinner.
Dannis1983
Had dinner here tonight. Wonderful food, great service, nice wine list and good prices. Highly recommend this place
Sam
Overpriced! Ordered the spanercrab salad which only came out with two pieces of lettuce so I asked if I could have some more lettuce. They brought out a bowl of lettuce ten times the size of my meal and upon getting the bill they charged us $9 for the bowl of severely salty lettuce. Not worth the money and we won't be returning!
Andy6800
Good food but service lacked the polish all the hype had led me to expect. Had a couple glasses of wine by the glass (same wine) and the waiter poured the second glass on top of the last part of the first. Good value for Hatch and Co not so much for me :( Had the mussels for the main which we're excellent but no bowl to put the shells in... Again not what I'd expect from a restaurant charging these prices and with the associated hype.
Janet D
Yet another over priced Brisbane bistro. Ordered the spinach & truffle risotto & was served a disgusting green slush that looked nothing like risotto. Ordered a bottle of wine but not able to have at table, fine in a 5 star restaurant but this place isn't, as much as it might like to be......honestly, try somewhere else
Boxingrocky
Restaurant Parking. The food at Hatch was good, however we found it an affront that we had to pay an extra $40 per vehicle to park there. Three vehicles is $120.00 extra. We were a party of six and obviously we would stay more than two hours at the restaurant. shame on the centre for charging diners. We wont be back if parking is charged.
Adrian Gallagher
Food to die for!. Last night was my second visit to Hatch and Co. And it surpassed my first. The food shines but the staff are also attentive and professional. The Burrata and tomato entree is simply superb. In my top ten meals anywhere!

We went for affagatos last night - such a lovely atmosphere and the staff were amazing - so friendly! Thought it deserved a good review :)
Joanne_ghanem
AMAZING!!!. I went to dinner with a few friends and we all tried something different. All our meals were of amazing quality and taste. It was value for money and we all left feeling so full. I cannot wait to go back and in fact my friend sent me a message asking to go back for dinner in a weeks time. We eat out at least once a week trying many, many places in Brisbane and i can honestly say it is high on our list especially for the money that you pay. I cannot wait for it.
Sambo
Overall disappointed. For the price I expect better service and better food. <br/>We had the lamb shoulder for main course and while cooked nicely and tender it was quite bland and fairly tasteless. <br/>Our waiter was quite uninterested. I asked him two times separately for some marinated olives before our mains arrived, but they never came. Our mains arrived and I asked the waitress who delivered them about the olives, she bolted off saying she'd check but never came back! <br/>These guys are relying on location which is nice, but there are much better options readily available in Teneriffe and New Farm, so I won't be back!
Debra.isermann
I took a friend for a sunday lunch, I found you are seated almost on top of the next diner, there is no privacy when it comes to not wanting your conversation to be heard.<br/>The menu is not of a wide variety at all, I order the gnocchi and it was quite nice but the size of it was ridiculous for the dollar amount of $23.00. I have had entrée s that have been of a reasonable size, at other venue s. on whole I found it to be loud, intrusive and not somewhere I would want to dine or spend my money as there is no value for money. We order a pizza as well, and the topping was missing, We lifted the base of the pizza to look for it ,but no luck. I had heard a few reports but needed to try it for myself, but it is a accurate rating...NOT GOOD.

Definitely coming back. I'm assuming most of the negative comments made here were from experiences after just having opened, but I really enjoyed going to hatch & co on the weekend. All the meals we ordered were delicious and all up it ended up costing a lot less than we had previously expected. I really enjoyed the quail dish and the pork cheek ragu. Will definitely be returning soon to try their bigger share plates. Staff were attentive and knowledgable about the menu and wines available.

Delicious :D. I went to Hatch & Co last night with my family and we all really enjoyed it. The food was great - yummy croquettes and olives, and the best pea risotto i've ever tasted! And we were so excited to see burrata cheese on the menu as it's hard to find. The service was great, all the waitresses explained the food well and they were very attentive. And the setting tops it all off - loved the neat decor and the big gas ring lights up with beautiful colours in the background. Definitely going back to this place soon!

Good host, helpful and fast, attentive service.. okay food not great unfortunately, they were out of the 2 dishes we wanted.. nice place with goof lighting and ambiance. 6/10

The pork dish that we ordered was terrible and disappointed. First of all the pork was cold and it has hardly any source on it.The meat was dry and thick and the presentation was terrible.

Good vibe, yummy food. Happy to wait for an 8.30pm table on a Saturday night, the restaurant was full, buzzing & was very well staffed. Would love have to have tried some of the larger share plates at around the $60 price point including the whole fish which came in at 900grms however as there were just 2 of us we stuck to some of the smaller dishes. Sandcrab salad was very good & would be something I would order again and we shared the special main which was a lightly seared Mooloolaba Tuna Steak. Fantastic atmosphere at night with the trees and old gas frame lit up. Strangely we had to continually ask for our wine glasses to be topped as some of the wait staff would leave our bottle of wine on the table & others would take it away causing a bit of running around as to where our bottle of wine actually was eventually asking if it were easier just to leave the bottle on our table? Ironing out the service kinks I guess. Little touches on service have a way to go but recommended & we will return.
Jodiee
Arrogant & terrible service. The female maitre'd is definitely the rudest, most arrogant person I have met in my life. We should have left after the attitude she gave us on arrival but made the mistake of putting this aside due to all the hype. We went in at 6pm and less than 10% of the restaurant was occupied but we were rudely signalled to the bar. <br/>There were heaps of staff around but most of them seemed to be flitting around trying to look cool. Bar service was very slow and it took us over 15 minutes to get served despite there being only a handful of customers in. <br/>It took almost an hour to get a table and service was painfully slow whether it was the waiter finally coming over or our drinks or food to arrive.<br/>The food was pretty average. It reads a lot better than it is presented or tastes and quite a few dishes sound very similar to those on other successful restaurants around the country. <br/>We left after 9:30pm feeling cheated after dropping a couple of hundred dollars on the worst night out ever - in Brisbane or otherwise. <br/>Don't believe the hype. This place deserves to be closed down quicker than it opened.
Cocosmooth
Easily the best meal I've had in Brisbane.<br/><br/>A triumph of freshness and well thought out flavour and texture combinations against the backdrop of deli-like kitchen and the lit up circus-like gasworks circle.<br/><br/>Wouldn't be out of place in London, alongside Polpo or Moro but a hell of a lot cheaper (http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d719706-Reviews-Polpo-London_England.html; .http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/52/567173/restaurant/London/Clerkenwell/Moro-City).<br/><br/>A chance visit after spotting it was packed on a Monday night. My elderly uncles, one crippled in one leg, both hard of hearing. We were accommodated without much fuss. A charming, doe-like Sydneysider en route to saving animals in Africa took the edge off.<br/><br/>Hope this wasn't a one off surprise, this review doesn't jinx it and I can get a seat next time.

This place was so overrated. Allthough the service was good, the food was barely average. I had the seared tuna with angel hair pasta with chiles, garlic and lemon, which had me salivating from the time I saw it on the menu. Not sure how you screw up such a simple dish, but it was not good at all. Even dessert was disappointing . Our wine was the best thing at the table all night.

Wonderful food, great service ! Everything about this restaurant is really good from the menu to the decor ! They have just about nailed everything you could want ! Gasworks is a great new spot and Hatch and Co is the perfect night out of two or with friends !

Absymal service. Ate here in the first week or so of opening. While the food was quite nice, service was the worst I have experienced in a long time. They messed up repeatedly, from the simple (15 mins to receive a first glass of wine) to the ridiculous (bringing our main out and trying to put it on the table while we were still eating our entrees, despite us ordering these courses 10 minutes apart). The service was beyond woeful. Not even the gesture of a glass of wine removed from our $200 (for 2) bill as a way to redeem themselves. Wouldn't go back.

Ambience is fantastic! Such a nice venue.<br/><br/>Our entree of antipasto and olives was delicious.<br/>Main- my husbands angel hair pasta with tuna was nice. My risotto was too rich (it was okay though).<br/>Dessert- fantastic chocolate dessert! <br/><br/>I would love to try their pizzas as they looked great. <br/><br/>Gasworks is a great spot, love the location!

Tried here at the weekend. It was pretty busy, quite bit of the gasworks complex is yet to open. Sat outside and after some initial confusion about what you could eat where we ordered a pizza and some hot chips to share washed down with a couple of beers. Some of the draught beer is reasonably priced, generally average prices. Thin based pizza was very nice, fresh and tasty, chips were good, plenty of chilli salt on them, yum!<br/>Service was okay, room for improvement though.

Sunday late lunch. Time for lunch on sunday. I was very keen to head off to the new Gasworks complex that had just opened a few days ago, so we made a late lunch foray and came upon Hatch & Co. We sat down and the waitress promptly brought menus and water. We quickly scanned the menu which is mostly sharing plates and tapas type small plates with a few mains and pizza thrown into the mix. I wanted to try several dishes so we had freshly shucked oysters, manchego croquettas, house smoked salmon , farmhouse terrine and a seared tuna pasta. All delicious.. Prices are reasonable- oysters were $3.50 each and the croquettas $4. Pizza ranged from $18-24, and desserts from $9-12. There are sharing plates for 2 people also so prices are higher as feeding 2.<br/>Our waitress assured us the dessert we had chosen -vanilla panna cotta with salted caramel, malt ice cream and cookie crumb was also her favourite. And yes indeed it was a delicious finale to our meal.<br/>It is a very pleasant light and air filled space with friendly, helpful staff and seems to have hit the ground running even though the official opening is not till this week. Hubby and I were very pleased to have tried out a very new establishment and found delicious food, great staff and an all-round pleasant way to finish off our cultural day.

Hatch & Co. is located in the Gasworks Plaza at Teneriffe and is only one of the many fantastic restaurant this precinct boasts. It has a delicious menu with perfectly matched wines and is a lovely venue for date night or dinner with the girls. It has a beautiful atmosphere with friendly and competent staff and it truly does make for a fantastic night out! Some of the delicious meals we consumed are featured below.   Picture features: Hazelnut dacquoise, white chocolate mousse, passionfruit gel & foam, raspberries // Beetroot hommus, dill, pistachio, feta, woodfired flatbread // Forest mushroom risotto, truffle salsa, Grana Padano // Pork cheek ragù, basil, chilli, soft herbs, tagliatell // special dish compliments of the chef xx

Newly opened Hatch and Co’s clean alfresco dining is relaxing and overlooks the new Gasometer. This is one of the shared plates on offer – Slow cooked lamb… the tender, delicious meat fell apart and my stretched stomach and undone pant button would agree, the delicious serving is best shared with at least three people (instead of just two).     Price Range: $$/$$$ (Share plates start from $45 and have main meals including a selection of wood fired pizzas)

Gasworks is just one of Brisbane’s new buzzing, dining and shopping precincts. Developed in the shadows of the purple-hued structure in Newstead, it has added a number of great restaurants to my list to try. On a mid-week evening, we ate at Hatch & Co – a bright and airy venue with an open kitchen and a large outdoor terrace. We decided to order mains only and tried the steak, the Spring Bay mussels with fregola, parsley and tomato charred bread and a beautifully green spinach and truffle risotto with fresh pea and tendril. The food was light, fresh and tasty. Service was okay. Make a booking if you’re planning on coming for dinner – the restaurant was quite full mid-week. 76 Skyring Terrace, Newstead

The quail had a lovely gamey flavour that was just strong enough to dance on the tongue, but not too powerful to over power the cappacolla ham hidden underneath. The delicate balance of the ham and quail was handled really well and the whole dish was pulled together with was tasted like a yoghurt. What was brilliant were the salted grapes, which were hidden in the yoghurt and packed a punch when eaten.

Definitely to get a reservation, despite it being pretty late for dinner! Hatch & Co has been quite the hotspot of late, and the first time I went here for a friend's birthday, i've always had the intention of returning. Its open plan and very airy, which creates this relaxed feel, especially with the feature wall just bordering the open kitchen. We were firstly seated outside at their bar tables as we were early for our reservation, however, were soon moved inside amongst the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. Soon after being seated, we were approached to have our order taken. Tonight, we chose the slow cooked lamb shoulder with garlic and lemon dressing, topped with watercress. For sides, we chose chunky chips with aioli, and steamed broccoli and beans. We also snuck in a small share plate of BBQ chicken wings. Undoubtedly, the chicken wings were the best dish of the night - we wished we had ordered more! They were finger-licking tasty and not too sour as sometimes BBQ chicken win

Hatch n Co has been one of the most talked about restaurants since it open their doors. Being one of the popular restaurants in the Gasworks Precinct in Newstead, I do have to say, it is definitely a good lunch or dinner spot.

The food is made with beautifully fresh ingredients and they’re not overly fussed with. I loved the day’s special side – broccolini served with a shaving of parmesan and fresh lemon. While I personally might have cooked it a little longer to get the broccolini softer, it was beautifully crisp and crunchy.<br/>

I can see why Hatch & Co. is such a popular spot for lunch, especially on the weekends. Its laid-back ambience draws in crowds who go there for efficient service and a nice feast with a friendly price tag.

We were presented with a tiramisu that looked like nothing I had ever had before. All textural elements were addressed; crunchy crumb, crunchy biscuit, soft coffee cream and the icey hit of the strong coffee gelato. It took about 30 seconds to polish this one off between us.

Our dinner at Hatch and Co, Newstead was perfect in every way. I can see why this venue stands out in the area as the most popular. It provides the kind of good service and moreish, tasty dishes that bring people back time and time again. I can vouch from my previous meal at Hatch and Co that their pizza and desserts are fantastic to. I've yet to taste anything below excellent and with quality like this, I'm sure these guys are here to stay.
