Amazing flavours in all our meals and exceptional service! We were a table of 7 adults and 2 kiddies. The tall guy with the clasp earrings, was our waiter and he brought so much joy, warmth and laughter to our table but he was still professional and gave honest advice when it came to the menu and drinks. He knew the menu very well! Ethan made our family feel like we weren't living in an archaic city but rather a vibrant and unprejudiced city where all different people are welcome. The food he suggested all complimented each other well and we had one of the best night outs in Brisbane. I doubt any other restaurant would have surpassed Hatch and Co. because they don't have the powerful combination of a beautiful venue, great food and outstanding staff like Ethan, the guy with the clasp earrings 5 out of 5.
We were very lucky to sample the new innovative menu and believe me we were not disappointed. The food was full of delicious flavours. Our starter consisted of calamari which I would say is the best of I have ever tasted, tender and perfectly cooked.
Our mains which we shared were cooked to perfection and the sides complimented our choice of dishes.
I'm surprised we could include desert but after seeing the menu we decided on two to share and we were very satisfied.
Congratulations we will be back.
Phuong Tran and I visit for a Sunday dinner. Arriving at 6pm we are promptly seated and our refreshing Cocktails are served in minutes. Our meals take 35 minutes to arrive due to some mix-up with their ordering system.
* Lamb Spare Ribs ($19) are perfectly seasoned and grilled. The 8 Lamb Ribs are tender and delicious with the Salsa Verde. At this price it is a bargain. Rating: 5
* Roasted Duck Breast ($35) is served with Grilled Shallots, Pickled Daikon and a Plum Sauce. This tasty dish is nicely balanced and PT enjoys her meal. Rating: 4
* I have a side of Chips ($8) with every meal here. They remain crisp even after 20 minutes as I finish my meal.
Overall, our dinner is enjoyable despite the delay. Service is friendly and helpful but can be improved with extra staff to assist the lone waiter. Thanks Hatch & Co.
Hatch & Co is situated in a lovely corner of Gasworks next to Reef and other restaurants. I’ve been here twice now for meals and both times have been good but lacking slightly to make it an overall excellent experience.
The first time we came for dinner and it wasn’t busy but took some time to get our food ordered and to come to the table. I enjoyed the entree and the main was good too. The second time for lunch was much busier but it was actually a better experience. I ordered a bread and dip entree with the main and both were delicious.
I would say service is the biggest con for this restaurant as the servers are polite but perhaps they are understaffed as it can take time to be attended to. However, the kitchen staff seem to work well once your order is taken the food is relatively quick to arrive and is of a high standard of flavour and presentation.
Despite that con I recommend this restaurant as the food was outstanding with flavour and I am definitely interested in coming back to this restaurant as the second time around was better than the first and I looked forward to trying any new dishes or menu.
One of my favourite casual dining places, the big share platters are fantastic for groups. Only downside is that the lemon meringue cocktail was taken off the menu - thankfully the bartenders still make it because it’s Devine!!
I went with my Canberra friends to Hatch and Co on Good Friday, as Facebook told me it was one of the few places open in Brisbane. Parking is ample since its at the Gasworks precinct. Adam and Dan got most entrees while I was starving so I was the only person to get a main. The entrees they got were the crispy chicken wings with Parmesan and black pepper, I tried one of the wings and they were drenched in grated Parmesan and something else I couldn't put my finger on. They were crispy initially but quickly became soggy.
We got the crisp calamari with chili jam and lime, Dan asked for the chili jam on the side since he can't tolerate spice but it already that way. The crisp calamari were crisp, tender little morsels, the chili jam was extremely mild to the extent that Dan could actually have some.
The truffle and pea arancini are $5 for each, with them being a fair size, I guess maybe 10cm in diameter? They had a super golden, crunchy exterior that was an absolute delight to slice through. Adam was complaining that the interior was a bit bland but it was a gooey, super truffle flavoured risotto with shriveled and wrinkly green peas, they were putting down exactly what they were saying!
The house made cheesy garlic bread was made uncheesed thanks to Dan's extreme lactose intolerance, and it came with a giant dish of whipped butter. I'm a butter fiend and I found this too much butter, I'd have preferred it if it was a giant hunk of bread with a side of whipped GARLIC butter, at least that would've made sense. The amount of butter was so extreme that even using a quarter of the butter allowed the bread to be dripping wet and have to scrape some of it off.
Lastly, I got the Italian sausage, pistachio, garlic, parmesan, mozzarella and basil pizza. I got this one cause it sounded a bit unusual, I like the amount of basil on the pizza, I always find most Italian places will put like three leaves on a pizza. Why? Basil is delicious and there should be a piece on each slice, or a side of basil so I can graze as I go. There's the Viet herb eater in me speaking, the more veggies the better! I quite liked the Italian sausage, juicy and well seasoned, the pistachios were odd but I didn't mind it. In general I found this pizza not as appealing as I'd like just due to the lack of golden colouring, the crust wasn't bad with that being said it was just a bit anemic in appearance.
All in all, not too bad a place to go to. I would personally tweak the menu a touch, and I'd have liked an appetiser deal like 4 for $25 or something, but the place is pretty, the food is well presented and is exactly what you're expecting.
Managed to get a table for Friday lunch no problem.
Not as busy as it used to be - which is actually very nice.
Sat outside- was a bit warm and glarey but there was a bit of a breeze. It’s very noisy because you’re basically sitting on the main road into the area.
Lunch menu is limited but good value. Drinks extra. Coffee was good but not hot.
Service friendly and non intrusive.
On site parking is free for the first 2 hours.
This place has a wonderful ambience which is what drew us towards the place but once we started eating our meals I was blown away. This place has hands down the best garlic bread I’ve ever had in my life.
I had the goats cheese soufflé accompanied by the potato mash for my main which is from the light and sides menu. It was incredibly filling and reminded me so much of my own family’s cooking. I felt like I was having a home cooked meal because of the amount of attention and effort that was put into making as well as the detailed ingredients.
All credit to the staff here who are friendly and professional. Many food establishments can take tips on service from these guys.
Food didn't disappointment. Lamb shoulder was melt in your mouth good. Woodfire chicken was juicy and tasty.
Thanks also for the complimentary rocket salad.
Will be back again.
Really nice food with a respectable price for the quality provided. Service was friendly and helpful. Perfect place for a lunch with family and the cocktails are great with an extensive range of styles.
We came here for a friends birthday. I shared a pizza with someone which was lovely. Service was good, absolutely love the location and food was good too
I've been back here a few times. The quality of the food here is second to none - even the sides are amazing! Probably the best restaurant at gasworks.
Have been to this restaurant twice and on both occasions the staff we've encountered were all very friendly and attentive. Their modern Australian cuisine menu is quite conservative so it's good for group dining as you'd always get people who are not very adventurous.
We tried the $49pp group menu the first time we visited and all the food was delicious. Thought it was a great way to try a bit of everything and the food was enough to share. Our whole party all enjoyed our lunch there.
My husband and I visited for dinner on a Friday night. Had the duck breast and sirloin steak. Both were cooked very well. The steak was done medium rare, exactly how we asked for it. The duck breast skin was nice and crispy and the salad on the plate was good too. Great value when you use the Entertainment Book discount if you are a group of two.
Love the alfresco dining environment.
Australian and European food. You can lunch or dinner for good prices and if you go between 3pm and 6pm, have the happie days where you get almost everything cheaper. You have pizzas for $ 15, cocktails for $ 10, beers for $ 8 ... It is in a very quiet and cozy place. The restaurant is modern and very well kept and clean. Your waiters are very friendly and attentive so you do not miss anything. You have a lot of variety on the menu and so you can choose different food the next time you approach. You have easy access with the car because there is parking in the square and other restaurants to eat different food, such as sushi.
The service was excellent and the food epic.
I asked if they could veganise the Angel hair pasta, king prawns, garlic,
chilli, parsley, garlic crumbs and they accommodated me without question. They have outdone themselves.
They provided me with THE best pasta in Queensland! The warm pasta, perfect crunch of the broccoli, the mouthwatering mushrooms, pumpkin and eggplant with sautéed spinach and fresh garlic dressed in olive oil made me moan with every bite.
It wasn't good, it was When Harry Met Sally moaning gooood!
My thoughts went to Eat, Pray, Love and my hands tried to explain the deliciousness of the dish (true Italian style). I felt spoilt without guilt and conjured images of holidays with Dolce Far Niente.
I think you deserve something beautiful. Give yourself permission to "just say yes"!
It isn't often that vegans and non-vegans can truly feast together, however Hatch + Co not only made it possible but easily repeatable.
Thank you so much! We'll definitely be back for more.
Pretty good but slightly aloof staff. You know the type I mean, the ones that bring food to your table and make zero eye contact, with a kind of "I've got somewhere more important to be" attitude haha. The guy at the register was a nice fella though. I'd probably go back.
