Review Gelateria Cremona - Brisbane

Anh Tom
Omg best Gelato I've ever had in my life!!! Everything is made fresh in store, which gives a very tasty and subtle flavor. Not too sweet at all. And the server was very friendly. 1000/10🔥

Nice freshly made gelato in kinda our local. Very popular joint and appears to be traditionally made. Great on the palate, light and soft. Would have liked it to be abit more creamy and dense. Still enjoyable though!

Four of us all ordered different flavours - every one of them was wonderful. The kids liked the cookies and cream. The macadamia was tasty. Even a special ‘hot cross bun’ flavour for Easter was surprisingly good. But the coffee gelato was the best. ☕️

The sorbets there can't be compared to any other else. We can feel the freshness of all ingredients and how careful the chef is by preparing them in front of us. The far best Brisbane ice cream.

Gelato and sorbet made with 100% all natural ingredients - that's what you get at Gelateria Cremona 👌 Tried a honey & walnut on this visit, single scoop ($5.30) in a waffle cone (50c). Always go for the waffle cone if it's available. Can't say I loved the flavour - it was fine, just not nearly as memorable as the durian flavour I had a few weeks prior when brought over a take home pack from here 😄 Will be back to explore more flavours another time.

4 stars because they had nice flavours, it's near where we live, and parking was easy. But the texture wasn't quite smooth enough to be gelato, and waffle cones aren't standard (not sure I can fully enjoy any place where the default is those foamy type of cones). It's certainly nice ice cream, but if you're going for proper italian style gelato go to La Macelleria. I will continue to preferentially travel twice as long to get La Macelleria, particularly at a similar price point but they pack it in more at L.M.

What a charming gelato store with so many amazing flavours on offer. Absolutely loved the honey fig and ricotta flavour. The strawberry cheesecake was also delicious.

The best Gelato shop I have ever been to worldwide. Over the past few years I’ve tried every flavour. Honeycomb is the best gelato flavour and all the sorbet flavours are incredible. The watermelon granita over summer is unbelievable as well. Every other ice cream shop in Brisbane is no where near as good. Highly recommend!

Came here on Sunday afternoon, the place was empty. I was bringing a crowd, but the staff were very friendly and the service was quick. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, thus I was really happy when Gelateria Cremona came to the University of Queensland as a food truck.

Ordered the Pistachio flavour; tasty and not overwhelmingly sweet, which is perfect for those not having the sweet tooth. Also tried the Tiramisu, Creme Brulee, and Salted Caramel; all were perfectly made, got the rich and creamy texture along with perfectly balanced flavour. My personal favourite is the Durian flavour, which is I think, a seasonal menu.

A perfect place to enjoy a delicious gelato. Would definitely be coming back here in the future!

Cannot go wrong here! Although I haven’t tried every flavour, I’m sure they all taste great. So smooth and refreshing.

We visit for some gelato after dinner. We join the queue and are offered samples but there is no need. We have decided on a scoop each of Pistachio and Crème BrÝlÊe. While both gelato are good, the Pistachio is exceptional.

Loved the vibrant colour of the raspberry-mandarin sorbet. The mandarin actually came out pretty strongly and it was overall an interesting and refreshing flavour. I also liked the Belgian chocolate which wasn’t overpoweringly sweet. I don’t know if it was because I got it at a food truck, but their two scoop cone isn’t massive. I actually preferred this because I could try two flavours without it being too much.
Joe K
Our local Gelateria close to home. We visit on a Sunday afternoon for a Gelato fix. Phuong Tran is happy to see Durian Gelato on the Menu Board and asks for a scoop on a waffle cone. It is Pistachio for me.

The Gelato is quite soft and while Phuong enjoys her Durian cone, my Pistachio Gelato lacks flavour. More crushed Pistachios please!

Tiny ice cream shop with few selection of flavours- but they serve good quality gelato and sorbet. The flavours of their gelato is not too strong/rich- just light and tasty
FOODIE ADVENTURE
So lucky to be so close to amazing gelateria with so many unique and interesting flavors to choose from. It was a perfect treat after watching a movie at thr Blue Room Cinebar.

Best gelato in Brisbane, hands down. We always get the take home pack because it’s just so damn good. So fresh with such a great variety of ever-changing flavours, plus the staple favourites. Lucky we don’t live too close or we would be eating here way too often.

Their Italian hot chocolate is delicious too.
Geoff
A family run artisan gelateria with stunning product . Fresh and authentic. No boosters or artificial rubbish. Quite innovative and novel flavours with standards lemon Dutch choc etc and seasonal specials ... stunning granita sin the summer months. Sorbet and gelato....take your own exotic fruit and they will gelato use it for you.

Honestly by looking at their score, I’ve expected more than that.

Ordered three flavours: rum & raisin, saffron and rose water for ice cream. They are both very icy and lack of flavour actually, also too sweet for me.

plum for sorbet is better than the other two but still below my expectation.

Staff are very friendly through.

After the lunch at Burger Institute@Milton, I felt like to have some dessert. Remembered that I had missed this dessert place twice during Christmas and New Year period so gave it a go. It was ten to 1:00pm and the shop was not ready to open yet. However, the friendly staff welcomed me to go in while she was doing her preparation. Had a quick decision to go for a little cup of Mango & Salted Coconut. Took a seat outside the shop and started my food journey. Wow! First lick of the gelato, l felt that it was very soft and creamy. Then the salty taste mixed with traces of coconut and mango flavor, it was superb. No wonder this place is so famous.

Durian lovers rejoice!! Gelateria Cremona are currentlty doing durian flavoured gelato. It's smooth, creamy and moreish. A dessert where you can't wait to have another spoonful. If you enjoy durian, this gelato is an absolute 'must do'. If you don't like it, i'll pay for your gelato...........one day.

But seriously, 5/5.

Note: I went straight for the take home pack ($15.90).

After a very very large meal, thought it was a good idea to cool down with ice cream. Since Gelateria Cremona was just around the corner, thought we’d try it out. We got macadamia and a new flavour lod chong. Was a little weirded out by the texture at first, it wasn’t creamy but neither was it icy. This ice cream didn’t actually have ‘flavour’ but more like ...(mine had crushed macadamias mixed in with ice cream. Still so thoroughly enjoyable, would definitely recommend people try this place out.

10/10 best gelato I've had in Brisbane. Do yourself a favour and visit this place on a hot brissy day. You'll find yourself in bliss. Chocolate and green tea are my go to flavours.
Apparently the vanilla here is better than any normal vanilla else where - if that's what you're into...
Vina
I really love this store. They have good gelato. My favorite is italian cream. The texture was soft, the combination of the flavour was just perfect for me. The lady nicely answered every questions I asked about the flavour.

After eating at bungalow my Mrs. joined me and wanted to try the gelato at Cremona.

She chose Amerena Cherry and Chocolate and Chilli.

Both flavours were amazing and we really enjoyed it, the Gelato was creamy and flavorful. The Amerena Cherry had a fresh cherry taste to it and some cherry nibbles that gave it an interesting texture.
The Chocolate and Chilli was all it promise by it's name, you can taste everything, it was creamy, tasty, chocolaty and hot, they were not kidding when they said chilli.

Overall was a nice experience and the other flavours also look quite interesting.
Michael Steentjes
Great range of gelato and sorbet!
Great little shop with a nice feel.
It's a nice treat before the movies not far away or something sweet after going to the Japanese restaurant across the road
Fork 'n' Spoon
A Mothers Day treat catching a movie next door at The Blue Room Cinebar, we wandered out like most of the theatre goers and grabbed a gelato!
Having read everyones reviews I was very excited to try the goods at this Gelateria!
We eat with our eyes, and was dissapointed that all gelato & sorbets were covered! I am a visual person and reading a board with minimal description puts me off (maybe this is why I love Gelato Messina so much).
Anyway, I decided on The Earl Grey & Pistachio. Hubby had the Snickers & Strawberry Tiramisu (Mothers Day Special).
Price was reasonable at 1 scoop for $5, 2 scoops for $6.50.
Pistachio was nice with the texture of the crushed pistachio nuts through it, but flavour very mild. The Earl Grey was excellent. Bold in flavour and if you love Earl Grey tea, its a must. I sampled Hubby's and the Snickers had gooey caramel through it and tasted just like a snickers bar! The Strawberry Tiramisu was very mild and nothing really stood out, no overwhelming strawberry flavour and no hint of coffee or liquer or savoiradi biscuit/cake. I certainly am not deterred and will be back to try other flavours
Kan Do
Mrs Kan Do and I were walking around Rosalie and saw Gelateria Cremona. We were a little full from dinner at Pannini Woodfired Gourmet Pizzas and we had also shared a coconut ice cream soft serve at the West End markets, but curiosity got the better of us and we dropped in here to taste a couple of flavours.
These guys have an unusual and novel set of flavours available (e.g. hot cross buns, banana and caramel, kulfi, durian, salted macadamia and toffee).
Mrs Kan Do and I were feeling a little conservative with gelato flavours at the time, so not much on the list appealed to us.
We both tasted the kulfi and Mrs Kan Do tried the Dutch chocolate.
The kulfi had notes of ginger and cardamom which made it quite nice, but I would have liked some pistachio in it too.
Mrs Kan Do was quite happy with the taste of the Dutch chocolate.
We will likely visit again to sample their flavours in more detail next time.

Sensational. I've been a regular here since it was opened by its Italian owners in 2005, and have never had a bad experience. The gelato is always fresh and delicious, with plenty of old faves and a regular stream of new flavours cycling through the menu board. The staff are excellent and clearly well trained - friendly, prompt, and very amenable to sampling flavours (unlike some other gelaterias, which sometimes don't allow any sampling!!). Can't fault this place - without a doubt in my mind, it's the best gelateria in Brisbane, and likely one of the best in Australia. Gelato perfection.

I have quite a love for ice cream - so when I found out Rosalie had a gelato shop I had to go take a gander!

When I entered the store there was the gelato menu on the right side and a wall full of history illustrated on the left (It's nice to see some history of the products and the chef who's making all the goods) :)

Many of the flavours sounded appetising. After contemplating for a moment I went with the Salted Macadamia&Toffee and Coconut. I personally liked the Toffee one over the Coconut, just because there was a bit more flavour and was also creamier. Coconut was good too but the taste just wasn't as strong. There was a lot of shredded coconuts throughout each bite which I liked though :)

Wouldn't mind coming back to explore more flavours!

So my main complaint about this place is its character-building lesson in self control. I want one of EVERYTHING!! But after taking a deep breath...what we instead calmly decided on was a take home trio of coconut, dutch chocolate and salted caramel. Husbandio's fav pistachio wasn't on the board today, nor was my earl grey. Hot tip from the friendly staff is their Facie page always has the days offerings. But we loved what we got though & are always happy to try something different.

The fact that the flavours are mixed up regularly (eg Xmas pudding / hot cross bun / lamington & even Vegemite for Aussie day) is genius and keeps us coming back regularly.

Thanks summer - you nasty wench - for todays excuse to visit!!
DianaW
The lemon gelato here reminds me of the long hot summers spent in Positano on school holidays many moons ago. Great shop with lots of other varieties to tempt
the tastebuds too

Absolute winner, best ice cream/froyo place we've been to up here so far. The store has plenty of character, the young girl behind the counter had great knowledge of product processes and flavour origins - impressive.

The Dutch Choc - of course - is great, but do yourself a favour and try out Earl Grey Tea without judgement. This is an authentic flavour that is absolutely on the money, I was tempted to buy a take home pack after my 3 scoop bucket!

We ordered the coffee&maple syrup, black sesame, and earl grey. All of them were great! The black sesame was a little grainy, which was great for me, but it's a matter of personal preference. We got to try a lot of the other flavours! The staff were really friendly and happy to let you taste!

Update 02/11/16: we came back for more ice cream today! The cappuccino, banana caramel and earl grey tea were amazing!!!!! I really loved how the flavours were so prominent in the ice cream!
Cloris
I don't like something too sweet, so I chose the yoghurt blueberry with waffle cone. I love this flavor, not too strong but really fresh, and the waffle is flaky.

Lovely icy time. Will definitely come back from time to time.

This cute little gelateria is situated amongst the foody stores and cafes of Rosalie. The store front and interior were minimalistic with a big display board, showing the flavours of the today. I tried pomegranate and salted caramel. The sweetness of the pomegranate was just right for me. It had a light body and pleasantly bitter aftertaste. The salted caramel was nice and rich.

This place has great gelato - it was smooth, creamy and needless to say it tasted delicious. The servings are generous compared to other ice-cream places. The shop itself has such a welcoming and cosy feel to it and I really like how you can see the kitchen where they make all their gelato.
The Devourer Of Food
I can barely pronounce the name of the name of the shop and the menu consist of more foreign words than an illegal immigration detention camp sorted around this sun burnt land. Things like St Vanlenteenionoubni Rosa Catoshaver flavour or Dutch Chocolate or Rum and Raisin ... Why you make it so hard to pronounce these things? Fair enough that they taste great but seriously need to look at the naming convention.
Courtney
Absolutely beautiful service here.
I love that you can see into the kitchen where the gelato is made, it just makes it a little more interesting than a cold rock franchise.
Great real gelato and lovely flavours to choose from! My favourite in Brisbane for ice cream.
Espresso&Matcha
Being a regular movie goer, a friend and I went to see a movie at Blue Room Cinebar lately. Whilst we didn't order food there, we still enjoyed the environment. After the movie though, we were in for a late night snack. As we were walking to our car, the lights at Gelateria Cremona caught my eye, and having previously read multiple reviews on it, I decided it would be the ideal opportunity to try it out.
FoodsterChamp
Definitely one of the best gelato houses going around. I had a combination of Te cinnamon ice cream and the cardamom. Beautiful and creamy. Would eat again/10
Sasza Baranski
Always gets 5 stars from me. The gelato is of beautiful quality and there's always a new range of flavours each time I visit. Definitely recommend if you like good gelato or want to expand your tastebuds.
Coffee Jo
pretty good gelato. nice that the flavours change often. really creamy. the shake is not good though. it was just chocolate milk.
FoodieLustAu
Adore sooo many flavours! What...honey oh yes....mmmmm white chocolate....Dutch chocolate...stop that...licorice....mmmmmm ....snickers....get the hell out...soo damn good!!!!
Brisfoodanddrink
Great gelato. I tried the black sesame and it was simply amazing! The dutch chocolate my husband had was also amazing. I just wish they had more seats because we had to wait until another family had left to sit down.
Michela Scacchi
Don't go there if you are italian, that's ice cream not gelato.

Good ice creams, tastes exactly like what the flavour is. Pistachio and peach sorbet are favourites

Stumbled upon this gem last weekend after watching a movie at the Blue Room Cinebar. I'd been craving durian for a while so it was such a pleasant surprise to find it here. For those not familiar with this popular South East Asia fruit, it is not for the faint hearted because of it's pungent smell. I got a scoop and was surprised by how strong the smell and flavours were. It also had chunks of durian throughout. Yum, will definitely be back when a durian craving strikes again!

Love this place!. Always great flavours. Not overly sugary like other mass produced gelato places.

Oh my gosh, i am in love with their gelato.. Just best of the best. some places i have been to, either the gelato was too icy or too creamy. Gelateria Cremona gelato is balanced, and having many interesting (but very yummy) gelato to choose from. Favourite : Earl Grey , expresso and many more!
R
Amazing gelato - truly world class. I like how the flavours constantly change - it adds a bit of excitement to each trip! Favourite flavours of mine: Salted Caramel, Snickers, Coconut Lime, Earl Grey, (some Indian flavour dessert one I can't recall the name of - sorry!!).
I wasn't a huge fan of the lavender, it reminded me of my nan's handcream, but having said that, I really have never tasted a bad flavour here yet! Oh the decisions!

Mmm mmmm mmmm. Yummy yummy yummy! Customer service is fantastic, the guy who served us you can tell that he is really passionate about the gelato/sorbet. All handmade from scratch and better for you which is a bonus! Definitely be back :)

My heart lives here!! Best.... My heart lives here!!
Best damn salted caramel in the whole damn universe....I'm sure there are other places that serve gelato in Brisbane....just have no desire to go anywhere else......ever.
Sam H
Absolutely amazing gelato! The flavours taste real - eg mint choc chip has flecks of mint leaves & pistachio tastes like the nut, not some man-made flavour equivalent of so many others. We'll definitely be back & perhaps try some of the savory flavours - Vegemite was on the menu when we were there.
Ruthie
The cardamom gelato changed my life. Excellent.
BT
I love all the different flavours! Some of thr combinations are so creative but always taste amazing!
Nick Ward
Used to be really good - flavours were pretty boring and gelato was icy..guy that served us clearly didn't want to be there no pleases or thanks - even if you're having a bad day basic manners are still expected...overall bad experience and more expensive than Messina in Sydney - hope they come to Briz...

Amazing. Best gelato/sorbet in Brisbane hands down. soooo damn tasty. the flavours are seasonal and punchy, each of them are mouth watering in their own right. i really love how some of the flavours are not the typical one's found in the more dispassionate ice-creameries.

very important to deviate from norms like that so keep up the good work.
Arnaud Gaudin
Best icecream around for certain
in the world... could even be!
and always new surprising and innovative flavors!
you have to love it.
Jussy Marie
Best ice cream ever, best staff! Love the place. Addicted!

Simply the best. This is the best ice cream in Brisbane without a doubt! it is served cold a creamy and with a friendly smile from the people who actually make the ice cream. You can't get better than that!
TJ
Thumbs up. One of my favourite places in the Village.

It's the best!. Gelateria Cremona makes fantastic gelato. I consider myself something of an ice-cream connoisseur and unless it's the best, I'd rather not have it at all. Very occasionally the quality is a bit inconsistent or new flavours don't quite work eg. I had an Apricot Toffee flavour last week which was disappointing, but the Earl Grey tea flavour today was divine. They regularly create interesting new flavours but the 'old favourites' (eg. chocolate, Bacio, vanilla, pistachio) are there too.
Caroline
Love this place!!. I live 10 mins walk from this place and absolutely love it. The ice cream is the best I've ever tasted - made the traditional way, and I love the flavours they come up with. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Emma
Disappointing. Used to be a favourite, the change is so significant I wonder if there has been a change of owner.

It used to feature stand-out flavours and reliable quality.

Went there twice in the past couple of weeks - no longer the interesting flavours. A "two scoop" cone was 1-2 cm above the cone, smeared down the sides also. The texture of the gelato was quite icey
MYFOODREVIEW
Best Gelati EVER. This place is worth crossing town for. Every time we go, there are new and different flavours to try. I love that these guys move away from the traditional flavours and try to make something a bit different. They also do take away, which is great for entertaining. Way better than some of the mainstream icecream shops out there!
Kat
So much love!. If I am craving gelato, no other place will do. I will drive from anywhere in Brisbane for this place and have walked there from dinner nowhere near there just to get my fix. I love the cappuccino and mocha flavours as standards. The hot cross bun gelato is the greatest thing ever created (you may have to like hot cross buns to agree with me on this one). For the non-creamy gelato lovers the lemon lime bitters, mango, raspberry, pear, apple are all amazing.
Dan
Really really really good gelati. It' really very good. i am no connoisseur, but i couldn't let this place be left alone with no review. the gelati is great. try buying a cup and making a dash up mt coot-tha to enjoy the view with something sweet.

Desserts followed at Cremona at Rosalie. Beautiful homemade gelato from scratch. Really good stuff!
Just to let you in on a couple of interesting flavours available at the moment; Anzac biscuit, Trifle, Hot Cross Bun, Sweet Potato, Honey, mixed Raspberry & Mandarin and Pear.
Joe
They have some of the most wicked flavours out there and it is almost impossible to get sick of this place, not from the flavours but you might suffer from diabetes. From the chocolate to the nuts to the fruity ones, you will be spoilt for choice.
Ally T
Is it? Is it too cold for Ferrero Rocher gelati, with actual chunks of Ferrero Rocher? Is it too chilly for a fresh waffle cone topped with Tiramisu, perhaps a little double chocolate? Yeah. I didn't think so. On a recent visit to this Rosalie gelati shop I ordered the said Ferrero and the Tiramisu ( below, on the right ), with the latter being the best. It actually tasted just like the coffee and sponge layered dessert; most places wack 'Tiramisu' on a coffee gelati and think they can get away with it. The Ferrero was also good, but wasn't as crea
