nice breakfast, good value, nice view if sitting outside .
Food & drinks - my friend and I ordered their big breakfast and classic eggs benny with chimichurri hollandaise, respectively. Both were not only nicely plated, but actually tasted delicious - unfortunately I forgot to take photos of both our food and the view. The chimichurri hollandaise made their classic eggs benny stand out amongst the typical classic benny you get. For drinks we had the extra hot mocha (I know, a 34 degree weather and I asked for extra hot) and iced chocolate. Though the mocha did come quite hot as requested, the taste was mediocre (hence the 4 star rating) but the iced chocolate was good - not too sweet!
Ambience - despite the hot Brissy weather, we decided to sit by their enticing terrace overlooking Brisbane city. They do have retractable awnings that you can ask to be pulled down when it gets too hot. Otherwise, you can also choose to sit inside their cosy rustic and air conditioned part of the cafe. Really relaxing ambience and the staff were friendly and hospitable - ensured we weren’t too hot outside.
I would definitely come, most especially for the view! I am yet to try their desserts and I am looking forward to it! 😀
Have not been back since the Farther’s day in 2015 so checked it out again.
Walked in around 7:00am on Sat. and I was the first customer of the day.
Selected to choose the sitting at the balcony so I could enjoy the view while I was having my brekkie.
Discussed with the young lady about what I would like for my savoury dish with only poached eggs and smoked salmon but no carbohydrates. This request really made the young waitress confused and she had to ask if the chef could tailor it for me. Eventually I have settled with my orders and my Campos coffee came to the table. Doubtless, it was a perfect morning coffee for me. Presentation, smoothness and strength were all good. Then the savoury dish came the next. When I looked at the presentation, my first feeling was odd. The chef was too lazy to make a nice presentation but just two poached eggs with smoked salmon not even any greens for decoration. It was a disappointed outcome!😅

With 20 minutes to spare I visit for a quick coffee at 11am. The Brekky crowd have left and service is quick. My Cafe Latte is hot, intense and flavoursome, just the way I like it. Thank you Guys!
Menu on Zomato is old. I had the Peach Melba French toast and chocolate hazelnut thickshake. the shake was a generous serving size. The cinnamon poached peach was surprisingly good! Loved the whipped vanilla bean mascarpone too. Unfortunately I didn’t see the cute veranda until after my meal, I’m sure it would have been lovely to sit out there.
Went here for weekend brunch with the partner and a friend.
We ordered various coffees each - quickly came out; smooth Campos blend. For meals, we tried the recommended Soft Shell Eggs Benedict, Hash Cakes and Fritters. All were generously portioned, delicious with a twist of freshness and textures that made each unique in their own way.
Service was very friendly and efficient. Casual ambience in an airy Queenslander with indoor and outdoor seating available, including a back verandah that overlooks the neighbourhood with city views. Street parking is a bit difficult (pertains to the entire bustling Paddington neighbourhood). Reasonable prices.
Overall, a solid brunch spot.
Last visited chapter IV for Easter time. The specials were amazing. Hot cross bun Benedict and pancakes. Just take one look at the photos and you’ll understand how epic this was.
This cafe is a must try for all. Great food, great service and great menu.
Paddington is one of the old school brunch areas of Brisbane, with eateries along the winding Latrobe Terrace offering this up before it caught on in the rest of Brisbane. Chapter IV is one of these brunch options, housed in a converted worker’s cottage near the Antique Centre. The exterior is understated, painted in a modern slate grey shade. It sits comfortably amidst its surroundings, rather than grabbing attention as you go past. It is clearly signed though, with “Chapter IV” in cursive lettering above the front of the eatery. You do have to find parking on the street, which can be a challenge at Paddington’s busier brunch times.
Without really trying for it, I realise that Adam and I have slowly gone to most of the brunch places in Brisbane's Cafe Central, Paddington. Last weekend, we found ourselves yet again on La Trobe Street on the hunt for some breakfast, this time at local favourite Chapter IV. . Arriving at 9am, the place was packed. We even ran into a few friends who had decided to brunch here that day too. Luckily our table was already reserved for us.
Cute location! House converted into a cafe works really well especially with the the balcony that borders the cafe. Food was tasty but I had menu envy when I saw someone order the Soft Shell Crab Benedict but I guess there's always next time.
I come here everyday for coffee which I really like- they also have a great veranda out the back. Good selection of muffins and cakes and stuff - when these are freshly baked they taste good. I’d probably come here for food a bit more often but it’s a bit expensive for what you get. Overall though the atmosphere is great and they have Campos coffee which is my fave. Lovely workers as well!
We went to Chapter IV this morning and it was lovely - the food, ambience, views, customer service. They also have a little corner play area for kids with lots of toys to keep them busy!
found Chapter IV on instagram and saw their beautiful view from a homey cafe and knew i had to visit!~ it was not very busy when we visited around 12pm~ staff are quite friendly and helpful!~ we chose a table on their balcony in the corner which was nice and quiet~
we ordered a hot chocolate and coffee milkshake for drinks~
both were pretty good~
for food we ordered their seafood feast pasta and mushroom cream pasta~ both were surprisingly really nice! mushroom pasta was lovely and creamy but not over creamy~ seafood feast had a number of different seafood within it~
the view from the balcony is lovely! incredible to eat and look out~ we had a couple of cute birds land on the railings and it was a lovely sight~
one thing i have to point is, their items are quite pricey, our total came to over $62, which i found pricey for a cafe~
but overall a lovely experience~ if you are nearby do give them a visit!🥰
Great place with amazing food, had the tempura dragon soft shell crab benedict and an iced chai. The ambience was really nice, and staff were very friendly as well. Can't wait to go back again!
Very nice food. Make sure you choose to sit out the back on the verandah because you get a wonderful view of the city from there.
First time visiting Chapter IV and definitely won't be my last. The customer service was on point, very attentive staff who made sure our table was well looked after. The views from the balcony are amazing, I recommend booking early to get a seat outside on a cool autumn day like today. The Food we ordered was reasonably priced for this neighbourhood and most importantly tasted great. Flavours were well balanced and I recommend ordering the waffle stack.
I'm not one to post reviews of places, even if they're astounding, but this place is fantastic!!
Hardly had to wait for my breakfast and coffee, food was amazing! Who knew eggs and toast could taste so good?!
The coffee was very well done, which is saying something for Campos coffee, which I'm usually not a fan of!
Wait staff and Barista's were very friendly and customer service is amazing!!!
Best break I've ever had and will definitely be coming back!!! 🙂🙂
