Racecourse Road in Ascot, Brisbane is foodie joy with several restaurants on this strip, there is bound to be something for everybody. It is also the place where I found one of the best patisseries in Brisbane – Le Bon Choix. With seating inside it is the perfect place to have an afternoon coffee and cake.
After the review of the Halmet on Charlton last week that reminded me the experience of having the almond croissant here last time. It was the similar situation that I tried to compare the almond croissant from this renowned French boutique to the one at the Halmet so drove there to explore this morning.
Although it is Mother’s Day today but it is reasonably busy not so crowd with people.
Ordered the almond croissant with a flat white. It only took five minutes to have both things in hand. I took a seat at the nearby bus stop to consume the brekkie. Honestly, the result is the same, it’s almond croissant is let down by those from the Helmet.

Great coffee and cakes but can be crowded. Noisy and clattery but the coffee is good and the pastry also good. Air conditioned and comfortable seating.
I love Le Bon Choix! Their cakes are amazing and of course the pastries are great too. Never had something from there that I haven’t like. They are great with sweets but also have amazing savoury food like sandwiches. Sad because my favourite cake got discontinued but still love all the cakes.
We come here for coffee after our large Sashimi lunch. This is my favourite Le Bon Choix outlet in Brisbane. I place my order and we enjoy the cool comfort of this cafe as we wait for our coffee.
Our large Cappuccino arrives after a short wait. Served hot and strong it is what we need after a fishy lunch. Thank you Le Bon Choix!

I ordered one of the pre-made paninis for lunch. It was delicious. The bread was fresh (as expected) and the roast vegetable fillings were generous and delicious. The coffee that followed was also good. Just be careful as it’s easy to go in with good intentions and come out with cake. I had to use all my willpower to prevent cake from happening.
I have recently moved to the area & have found my local coffee house! The coffee is always made beautifully and I love the fact they offer different blends of coffee. Service is always prompt and polite. I have only had an almond croissant myself and without a doubt it was one of the best pasties in the area. Overall, I enjoy the ambience and quality of products and services. Highly Recommend.
The coffee is consistently good here and the Almond Croissants are AMAZING!!! If only I could eat them everyday. One thing I don’t like is being told to pre-order if I want to purchase 10 of them for a team meeting... WTH?! What does it matter? I’m still paying full price. In future I’ll only buy for myself. :)
Really yummy French pastries and excellent coffee makes this local a favourite. Inexpensive too which makes a nice surprise. Service is hit and miss but never brilliant. Overall very reliable if you are after a coffee break.
This place is absolutely gorgeous. The best tasting (and looking) sweets ive had in a long, long time. The chai latte and coffee was also amazing!
A beautiful place for a coffee, lunch or something sweet! Beautifully friendly staff and yummy food! Coffee was tasty!
Comfortable, air conditioned place to sit. You can also dine outside too!
A regular Sunday breakfast, for us. Since closure of Paddington, Ascot has been our go to Le Bon Choix. Lovely start to a gorgeous day.
Came on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Friendly staffs, good coffee. The mango mousse and mango jelly cake was delicious. You have to come early to avoid the empty shelves.
Nice place for a coffee and a quick bite, staff are friendly and attentive, also has an outdoors sitting area and is pet friendly.
Such a nice place. We have been coming here for many years for coffee and superb pastry treats. The breads really taste like it does in France, not sure why but it’s amazing. We recently decided to trust them to make us a cake for that one special day where we said ‘I do’ and they did not disappoint. It was from their standard range (Bamboleo) but still a delightful eye catching piece of art and very much enjoyed by us and all our guests! Six stars. L&J
