Review Rhubarb Rhubarb Restaurant - Brisbane

Awesome unassuming find. Great French food. Lovely Tuesday evening atmosphere with friendly attentive staff, solid wine list and simply delicious food. All of our party of six were pleasantly surprised on the upside with words such as jewel and delicious being unanimous. We'll be back.

Really disappointed with this place. Wish I had taken pictures of our food to upload on here- it was a bit of a joke. We waited 50 minutes for food to come. The two mains came, they were pretty cold, and we then waited another 5 for the sides to come. One of the sides we ordered was potato dauphinoise, when it arrived I had to ask the waitress what it was. It was cubes of boiled potatoes on a oven dish with grated cheese on top and burned around the edges. I asked the waitress if this was normal for them to look as they did, and she said yes. I asked them to be taken back to the kitchen. I had the duck, and it was just horrible, hardly any meat, really dry and tasteless. My partner had pork belly which was very small, but edible. We quickly asked for the bill and left. The waitress asked us how the meal was, I explained that we felt it was really poor service and quality, she just said OK. On a side note their wine mark up is pretty extravagant, a $20 bottle of wine from BWS is $70 here. I live around the corner form here so we were looking forward to knowing a local restaurant, but no chance i'll be back. For what they charge and what they produce, better off going elsewhere.

Excellent place to eat and drink. Prices are more than reasonable. Food is sensational with an excellent menu to choose from. Staff were friendly and service was top class. I really recommend you give this place a try. You won't regret it.

Thoroughly disappointed. I loved this retaurant but after our latest visit will not be going back. Service was lacking, even though the waiter was friendly and personable they were absent for most of the night, our water glasses were left empty (only refilled once). The wine bottle was dusty(!) and we were left to pour our own wine normally I would expect that waitstaff pour the first glass. Wine list is very limited. It took about an hour before mains were served. The food was a huge letdown considering how great it looked, honorable mentions for the chowder which was very salty, the ravioli was cold, the liver parfait was difficult to spread: too cold for the warm bread. In prior visits we ordered triple serves of the parfait this time we had just one. The mains were equally disappointing: the duck confit was very salty, the steak was tough and the kale that comes with the dish was raw/undercooked, the barramundi was nicely fried but the bisque was very salty and the addition of coleslaw with fish roe was a strange choice. One of the potato dauphanois (spelling?) we ordered was burnt black around the edges and a very dark brown in the middle. We didn't bother having dessert. It was a cold night but the back door was opened and there was a breeze. I had to wear my jacket and use my partner's to cover my legs until he too got too cold. For $85 pp I would expect much more from my dining experience! They have removed the small things that used to set Rhubarb Rhubarb apart like fine wine glasses, tablecloths, heated plates and the food is ok at best. There are better restaurants elsewhere.

Love the food here, it is excellent but I have to give an even bigger shout out to the service. The guys here really care and look after everyone. I've organised a couple of surprise dinners here and they are always super accommodating and go out of their way to make dining here special. Thank you!!

Everything you’d expect and more from a fine dining french restaurant. The food is delicious and of good value (especially the desserts - wow) and the service is exemplary. Great wine list and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience . Everyone was friendly and our waitress recommend delicious dishes that suited our background. It is a place that warm your tummy and heart.

Absolutely catastrophic obviously people who go here have no idea what a restaurant should be. After horrible service by two young girls who belong at suburban cafe not at a la cart restaurant which took our order three time and still managed to mess it up. After dinner we ordered dessert waited 45 minutes to find out that they miss placed order and then when we finally complained and paid $350 for three of us young managrr told our gracious host "dont come back again" Wow and we will not for sure.

Great service from the staff, so friendly and welcoming. Meals were AMAZING and didn’t take long to come out. They also added a cute chocolate writing saying ‘happy anniversary’. Will be recommending.

Amazing - the food was fantastic and kept surprising us with both the freshness and taste. The service was wonderful - very lovely people, who love their food and shared that joy with us. It was our anniversary and they made some wonderful touches to make it a very special evening - thank you!!

Went here for Friday date night dinner after making a successful reservation via Zomato.

We ordered bread as a starter, which comprised on warm toasted sliced baguette pieces with butter.

For entrees, we shared the 'blue cheese souffle', which was light and fluffy, although we hoped the blue cheese could have been a little more present/stronger for our liking.

For mains, we had the 'slow-cooked duck' and the 'eye fillet with pumpkin souffle' - both were flavourful and well-cooked, with homely flavours.

For desserts, we tried the 'raspberry souffle', which was lovely with the sharp raspberry flavours melding well with the smooth dark chocolate nd expresso sorbet. We also had the 'brioche donuts', of which we found the ginger syrup was a little too sweet and needed a little extra kick of ginger.

Limited wine-by-the-glass options, however there was a more extensive list for bottles available.

There was a bit of a wait between courses, however service was very attentive and friendly.
The exhaust-hood coming from the open kitchen is louder in the first room; would recommend a table in the second room. The ambience is a bit of a mix - date night, family night or catch up with friends all seem acceptable.
Prices are on the higher end, but comparable to similar French restaurants in the Brisbane area.

Overall, a lovely dinner experience serving classic, homely French cuisine.

Great French Restaurant in Wooloowin! Impeccable service, staff are knowledgable and friendly. Food is aways outstanding. If you love french food this restaurant should be on the top of your to go list!

I have dined here on several occasions and each time I am blown away. The chef, Vanessa, is a mastermind and I am always tempted to lick the plate clean (which of course is super inappropriate in such a high end place). The restaurant is decorated to match the french food and the atmosphere is lovely. The new drinks list really does offer something for everyone, and if you give it a good shot, you’ll definitely find yourself leaving the place with a new favourite wine! It’s so nice to see a great place that is constantly adapting and keeping up with restaurant trends, but is still managing to keep its charm.

It's a shame this little place is not BYO anymore, as that was a big drawcard over the fairly steep pricing, (for a suburban location), and very long wait times, but I guess the booze is where they make their money, and it's understandable.

The food is still pretty good, but we'll most likely hit up the city restaurants that offer a view, and more diverse menus, for the same prices in future.

Fantastic food and service! My partner and I had an amazing dinner here, eye fillets and the brioche donuts and date pudding for desert. I haven't had food that good for a very long time! Amazing flavour combinations! Portions were perfect, though I was uncomfortably full because I couldn't help but eat it all!

RHUBARB RHUBARB has a few 'claim to fame’s' on this dine. Prices are ‘hard to swallow’, the wait times extraordinary (2 hours from arrival to exit for drinks, mains and desert) and heaters and coffee machines are broken. Yet, ’all is forgiven’, because the food overall is as fanatically fantastic as the rhubarb red surroundings and the ‘1920’s’ French music accompanying. Service is superbly polite and you are well attended to.
So the stars of the show? ‘Numero un’, the BELLY PORK. It’s delicate, delicious tones made for some of quality street’s sweetest meat. The soy candy was brilliantly bizarre, providing skillful sweet to the semi-dried tomato sour, although the silver beet was too salty. Coconut sauce completed the bill.
Onto the grass fed BEEF EYE FILLET. Full of finesse, the beef - ‘tender from sender’, was sublime in softness and cooked beautifully. The Jus was pleasant and garlic cheese croquettes supremely more-ish but the pumpkin soufflé was high on ‘sodium overload’. Me and partner saw this as a major negative on 2 very positive meals unafraid to ‘sell themselves’ or ‘wow us’.
As it was Mothers Day, how about dessert to soar over the ‘100 dollar mark’? Crazy talk and crazy money, but RHUBARB RHUBARB again aren’t afraid to put their 'money where their mouth is'. For this off menu dessert special special (PECAN PIE with caramel sauce, strawberries and homemade ice-cream) left us with smiles as big as the Bruce Highway.
Melting in your mouth, this is the taste that childhood memories are made of - divinely delicious rivers of caramel sauce splashing on warm, wonderful pie, pulsating with pecan nuts as strawberries blush and ice cream love melts your dessert heart. It’s as romantic as it is expensive, but worth it.
And coffee? The friendly staff promised to fix the machine (and they sure did.) Frustratingly, it wasn’t a bit hotter (it was a chilly night - my bad.) In terms of Latte love, it was super frothy, with nice milk and espresso that excelled. Good going! Also, the staff got us an outdoor heater (the night’s chill unlike Scotland, but more like Melbourne) and the first one didn’t work - by the time the second ‘beast’ arrived, we extra appreciated the efforts. Although eating outdoors was again frustrating - given I booked online a few days before.
RHUBARB RHUBARB does things impressively with some definitive ‘Wow’ moments. Reduced salt content on certain dish elements and improved waiting times are needed, however, to join this exquisite dining experience Credit to staff and Chef, but be cautious of the prices, and $6 'cakage charge'. (Prices found in menu photos provided.)

Heard about this renowned local French restaurant at Wooloowin for a long time and eventually arranged to have dinner there last night. Lay out with warm home feel, which is good for the festival celebration during Christmas. Opened kitchen was just located in front of our table so we can watch the chef's cooking while we were enjoying our dinner. Entrees started with Home-made pork & beef sausage and duck liver parfait. The former was slightly salty, however, it matched well with the tomato chutney and pickled cabbage (3.5/5). I loved the duck parfait, which was softer than other of the same kind that I tasted with very rich liver flavour (4.5/5). While we were waiting for the mains, friendly waitress brought us the palate cleanser - salty lime sorbet, which added marks. Mains of duck l'orange was well slow-cooked then pan-fried with crispy duck skin. Texture was soft and tasted was well balanced (4.5/5). The other main of Grass fed eye fillet was perfectly cooked in med-rare. Quality of the steak was above average. Loved the idea of serving the pumpkin souffle' and the cheese croquette, which upgrade the steak to the next level (4.5/5). Of course we would not miss to taste the peanut souffle', which was another surprise of the night. Not so sweet but the souffle' raised very high with strong peanut flavour - a good invention (5/5). Overall, I would say that this restaurant is a local gem, other foodies should not miss it.

Couldn’t have been happier with our choice of restaurant for date night. Rhubarb Rhubarb came highly recommended and it didn’t disappoint! Great food and fantastic service. Shout to to Jeffrey for showing me how to eat soufflé properly 👌🏻 will be back soon!

wonderful suburban restaurant. Champagne and fabulous food away from the crowds. The food was very well done. I will be coming back here again and again.

Went here for dinner this week we found the service very good. Staff were friendly, attentive but no snobbery that can sometimes be found with fine dining. Croquettes were delicious, trout and rib eye were both nice. I would have liked to have seen more techniques used in the main meals. For example the side of mushroom ragu with the rib eye was simply five small cooked mushrooms.

My partner and I dined at Rhubarb Rhubarb last night & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food, service & ambience is amazing. I recommend the ocean trout and the Apple tart Tatin. Wonderful flavours and presentation - obviously lots of care taken and the chefs truly care about the food they are putting up. This was our second dining experience here and it was as great as the first time - can't wait to go back. Very keen also to try their breakfast menu. Thanks Rhubarb Rhubarb for a lovely evening!

I went here for my dad's birthday and it is a lovely setting. The menu had no vegan options (I don't think many vegetarian ones either) but the chef made specifically for me a three-course vegan feed! All of the food was very nice. The chef obviously cares about his patrons and it was very lovely that he went out of the way to cater for dietary needs. The staff were lovely and attentive too. In the future, I would like to see a fixed vegan option on the menu for anyone who requires it, as some people may be a lactose-intolerant vegetarian and thus, can't dine here. Which is a shame, because it's a beautiful little restaurant.

Can't go pass Rhubarb Rhubarb for a beautiful night out. We have been coming here for a French treat for years now and it never fails to disappoint. From golden scallops to delectable lamb and always a sweet dessert it is a must try for foodies on the Northside.
Britney
Food was nice but portion sizes way too small. Left hungry! For the prices, its just not worth the money and I did not enjoy the atmosphere.

Wonderful service here, always the freshest food and they are always consistent every time we eat there! Must try the rhubarb crumble dessert!

...a mixed dining experience, the meals weren't perfectly executed. It appears that for dishes like the cassoulet- they excel. Considering it's BYO, the prices of the dishes while on the expensive size are understandable, given how much you save on wine.
Sophia
The service is great and all are very attentive. We started with the bread and duck pate, the pate was delicious but the baguette tasted cheap and almost ruined the pate. For mains we ordered the confit duck, rack of lamb and wagyu sirloin. The duck was cooked well, the lamb had one cutlet cooked perfectly and the second was dry, while the steak was overcooked and tough. The croquettes that came with the duck tasted like the binding agent hadn't been cooked through, while the side of potatoes were not crispy or even soft for that matter. Very disappointed, severely overpriced for the quality.

Fanastic service, delicious meals. Went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago absolutely wonderful staff, very helpful and made you feel welcomed. Atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing to enjoy a night with friends.
The duck was perfect just fell off the bone and melted in your mouth, crime brûlée perfect. Great price. Definitely would go here again and would recommend to anyone who loves the small dinning environment with delicious food. Had a fantastic night

Rehab Rehab. Thank you for the wonderful service.
The night started with much promise. We enjoyed our starter and entree very much, However the main was terrible.
1. I ordered eye fillet. BUT was served a piece of beef described by the waiter as the WAGYU eye fillet ...apparently in our favor as it was delivered by mistake earlier that day.
2. After struggling to cut through this steak, I'd had enough.
3. The waiter apologised, told us it would not to be charged and returned to the kitchen.
4. 15 minutes later, he returned to say we would still have to pay for the steak but the owner/chef agreed to comp the bread and corkage.
5. Only after further discussion, when asked what cut of steak was I served ? Did he admit that it was in fact a sirloin and not an eye fillet as presented in the menu and ordered.

Quite bluntly - never should you try to pass off a lesser cut of steak as an eye fillet, let alone try to charge the same premium. Do not lie to your customers, telling a Japanese national that he's being served wagyu when it's a simple sirloin is like serving a Frenchman sparkling wine and calling it champagne.

We arrived with much anticipation and left bitterly disappointed.

Nb. In Fairness we paid for all items enjoyed (including corkage), excluding the fake eye fillet.

Service dreadful food not too bad. Went to Rhubarb Rhubarb and the whole experience spoilt by appalling service. Attitude of waitress was terrible. Hurrying us out through the whole night as she was keen to lock up and go home. Even though there were several tables still occupied. She knew nothing about the menu and when you are paying top price for food you expect nicer, well inforned staff. The final straw was when we just finished dessert she said 'can I organize taxis for you now' and stared straight at us when we politely declined her offer. Food pretty good but won't be back due to terrible staff.
Jordan_dixon92
Amazing. I've been to rhubarb rhubarb twice now. After 6years cooking in mostly french kitchens, I was completely comfortable when I went there both times. I had the veal tongue for entree and the lamb rack for main. The tongue was tender and flavoursome. The lamb perfectly cooked and the portion size was really good. Thank you again! I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Nice Food (but not great) - facilities/service poor. Had some nice food (but at the price I was expecting something more). Mainly I would never go back there because of the appalling air conditioning - it is just cheap household wall mounted air-conditioning which makes things either very hot or cold, depending on where you are sitting. I nearly froze and it really destroyed my enjoyment. Staff too were patronizing and would make adjustments to the air conditioning settings when I complained, but when they thought I was not looking. simply put the settings back the way they were. Sorry, but simply not good enough for a restaurant charging these sorts of prices and trying to market itself to the upper end.

90 minute wait a disappointment. Our table of eleven tried to enjoy a birthday celebration but even the great food couldn't overcome the fact that we waited far far too long for the main course. Of the eleven of us only six had entrees and the other five including our 85 year old parents waited an hour and a half - yes 90 minutes - for their meals.

To add insult to injury no one came near us to explian why they could not organise eleven meals in a restaurant that only had another six customers.

?? Poor service and disrespectful to the customers. Don't offer complementary desserts, just get it right. The night lost its sparkle and we still paid.
GL
A favourite. We always love going to Rhubarb Rhubarb. The food is superb, the service personable with attention to detail. We also love that you can BYO for $4 corkage per person. They even let you order off the menu depending on what they've got (the lambs brains are to die for!).
Sappypeard
Bitterly disappointing. I don't even know where to begin. I can say Rhubard Rhubard is the most disappointing dining experience I have had and the other eleven people at our table will agree. We waited just over 2 hours from when our orders were taken to receive our very small portioned, average tasting meals. The mosquito ridden courtyard was nothing but a boring suburban backyard and was unbearably hot with no fans, air con or airflow. We expressed our disappointment with the Manager on the night who couldn't care less. Overall I would recommend to give this restaurant a miss. If you do decide to go there to waste your money, check your bill thoroughly as I was overcharged by $50.
Kiarmastewart
Attention to detail. We celebrated my sisters birthday in the courtyard and was very disappointed by the area. It was in stark contrast to the fine dining ambience inside. Food was very slow to come out and once it did it was a very small serving and just warm. We were also split across 2 tables even though we had the court yard to ourselves. When we asked the staff if we could pull the tables together they said they could not obstruct the door that was only accessed by staff. The waiter was rude and unhelpful and did not appreciate our suggestions in trying to resolve the table layout.

We would not recommend this resturant to anyone. Poor service, poor atmosphere, slow food service, poor attitude, NO attention to detail!!!!!!!!

Once great, now a shocker! Gone downhill super fast. This place used to be excellent however the current customer service is deplorable. The food was very good although 90minutes in the waiting with a 30% full restaurant was not. The responses to our simple requests were met with flippant remarks and disrespect. Like I said, was great but gone down hill and we will not be returning

Very nice restuarant with quality food. We went to Rhubarb Rhubarb on Saturday night. All the food was very nice and cooked perfectly. The dishes we ordered were for entrée: the pate, and also the lambs brains. Then for mains: Barramundi on risotto, The pork belly, and also the Duck. The for dessert: Meringue roulade, crème brulee, pineapple tart tatin. All meals were top quality and tasted fantastic.

Suburban gem. Beautiful food and great service, finest restaurant out in the suburbs

Dreaming of the food days later. I never write reviews, but i feel compelled to tell anyone who will listen how bloody awesome this place is. The setting isnt wanky or stiff, its relaxed and funky. The staff couldn't do enough and the FOOD... OMG the food.... 10 of us had various mains and entrees and not one meal wasnt spectacular! we all eat out in Bris all the time but this one is a stand out for sure. We are all still raving days later. You dont mind spending the $20 on entrees and $36 on mains if its BYO... and its BYO anything you like which is a rareity these days.
Geoff
A great place to go for well crafted food and good service. However be prepared to be surprised by how little you get for so much. Prices are more akin to top mid city restaurants and unexpected in such an unsophisticated location.

We had our Xmas party last night at r r and it was fantastic. The staff were fabulous and the food was fantastic.

A last minute dinner date. food was phenomenal.
scallops were cooked to perfection with such delicate flavours to complement. mains were amazing - risotto was devine, lamb was perfect. best part of the meal was dessert - lemon curd fondant with coconut icecream and macadamia praline. best dessert i have ever eaten.
service was great. the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful.
the dining room is quite noisy, but i would have been uncomfortable in a silent restaurant!
i'll be back!
Tim
Let down only by the slow service.

From ordering our entree until desert was served was exactly 4 HOURS !

Rhubarb Rhubarb is one of the most consistently great restaurants in Brisbane. Having organised two milestone family birthdays here over the past year they have always provided a memorable experience. The food and service are first class and our thanks to Josh for an amazing meal last night! Some establishments need the praise they deserve and this one has our highest!
Andrew
Overpriced. I read the reviews and thought this place might be the one to redeem my view of inner city cafes and restaurants, but it was not to be. Very ordinary venue, good wait staff but only so so meals at ludicrous prices. For goodness sake the place was packed yet on the Brisbane fringe there's so many better venues at half the price. Very how hum but at wallet emptying prices. I won't be back.
Michele
Superb!!!. This was the most consistently wonderful restaurant I have ever been to. Everything my husband and I ordered was perfect. I had the lambs brains for entree and my husband had the rabbit pie. Both were delicious. For main course I ordered the Barramundi and my husband had the pork belly. The fish was cooked to perfection with crispy skin and the risotto was the best I have ever had. My husband's pork was amazing and the beans and potatoes we had as a side were beautiful. For desert we had the rhubarb crumble and the creme brulee. Yet again they were perfect. We could not fault a thing. On top of the food the service was great - the waiters were reading our minds with the topping up of our wine/water and the food was brought out exactly when we were ready for it. I honestly have not had a better experience with dining out and can't wait to go back!
Cindy Marlies
Indulge!. Great little restaurant in the suburbs! It's not easy to find fine dining restaurants that allow BYO without a corkage fee, so after a friend recommended this place (by raving about the food) my partner and I decided to book. As food & wine lovers, we brought 3 bottles of wine (white, red, dessert). The menu made us decide to order four courses. Absolute success! Thank you, we'll definitely recommend your restaurant!
Curly
Magnificent. Indeed a place to return to as we a group of 8 enjoyed such lovely food, and found the service to be exceptional we had a very attentive waiter to which took very good care of us, and was extremely knowledgeable and contributed to making the night a shear delight I have no reservations in to recommending this restaurant as a place to celebrate an occassion or just to have a relaxing dinner....Enjoy.
Alex Is Hungry
Love it!
Clare
AMAZING!!!. If the service isn't enough to impress you, then the beautiful food definitely will! I had the pork belly which is just to die for - the best I've had yet! Couldn't fault the service or the food - simply divine - can't wait to come again!
Emma
Terrible....I have never had a worse restaurant experience! Food was a bit hit and miss. Quail and duck were the best things on the menu. Our waiter was wonderful but restaurant manager ruined the entire night by telling the only man at our table of four that the 'women' at the table were being too loud, should stop drinking, finish our meals and leave because the 'cook' didn't like our volume level. Nevermind that the restaurant was extremely full and noisy and our table was right next to a larger table of approx 15 women (all of whom were drinking). If our volume level was a problem staff could have simply asked a us to keep it down, but at no point were we made aware of an issue until we were told to leave. I would never go here again and I will be telling everyone I know not to go either.
Stella
This place is cute! Good fo.... This place is cute!
Good food, friendly service, you can take your own drinks & wine...
I had Toulouse sausage & duck cassoulet, my favourite! And my husband had a truffled risotto with barramundi.
Desserts were a good size which is important, I hate small stingy desserts. The rhubarb & strawberry crumble was relish and so was the berry creme brûlée...
I will def be going back!
Nat King
When we first arrived we were greeted by a lovely hostess who charmed us all evening. It's a shame the 5star service was overshadowed by the average food ....our duck pate and crispy baguette was good, however my man was not so impressed with his cassulet..a bit oily and too soupy. My roasted pork belly was nice, could have done with more sauce though. The kifflers in duck fat were just ok too. The most disappointing aspect of the night was our burnt creme brulee. The custard was gorgeous but the crust, probably the easiest thing to get right, was just burnt it left that lingering taste in ur mouth. Sadly we won't be going back ...
KT
Disappointing and over priced. I'm extremely disappointed by rhubarb rhubarb. A friend booked us for dinner, and I was excited by the menu and the reviews. However, after providing numbers we were told that we were limited to a set menu (despite there being 2 other similar tables with similar numbers that did NOT have a set menu!) The scallops and sand crab rav was merely okay, nothing exciting and could have done with a little more vinaigrette. I thought very overpriced for what it was. However, I did taste my partners quail entree which was quite nice. I had the pressed lamb shoulder for main and it was worse than disappointing. It was a square block of bland lamb. The presentation was terrible. There was no rosemary sauce to be found and the 'garlic' puree was more like kindergarten paste. I did try my partners pork belly which was incredibly salty and the meat was tough. The final let down for the night was the rhubarb crumble. it was passable at best. My partner ordered the creme brulee which was nice, however the top was slightly burnt. Overall, it promised much and delivered little. I won't be going back..
Rob
We took friends after reading reviews of this restaurant without dining there ourselves which is always risky but we all loved it. The menu was fresh and interesting with all four of us enjoying our selection. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service of this restaurant.

Very good dinner menu. Overall dinner at Rhubarb Rhubarb was good. Although a bit noisy the food was delicious and well worth the prices. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

Ticked all of the boxes.. This restaurant ticked all of the boxes for me:
Cosy and ambient (even with a group of twenty in the same room).
Food was amazing! We were a group of four so we managed to gather a fair amount off the menu and everything was excellent!
BYO gives you the option to take what you want.
Staff were great from the first phone call to the service all throughout the evening.

This is only restaurant for me that has ticked all of the boxes in Brisbane for awhile. I left happy and full without a big dent in the wallet.
MKP
So so dining. Food was good, however some of the courses were over cooked which was sad. Though it was BYO place so they poured your drinks for you, but were always in your face. Waiter there was a bit out of it and in your face quiet a bit that it was overwhelming for you to enjoy the food when they are all over you asking all these questions.

Needless to say, it was a decent night with a number of flaws here and there.

Absolutely awesome. This place deserves a big pat on the back, the food is absolutely spectacular... that's right, food can be described like that. The perfectly paired flavours along with stunning presentation makes for an experience that every culinary infactuated freak will just love! The service was also very good, the attentiveness, the care shown to table, the fact that we got our food very quickly, we were never short for a drink, we were never forgotten when we sought our next course made for a great experience. This place also has a good serving of old world charm, from the decor, to the music playing in the background, to the fact that they open the door for you when you leave. The lighting is perfect and the seats are very, very comfortable. You are mad if you like good food, great service in a fantastic setting and don't try this place, you must go!!!
Ymcrostie
The food was the only thing that was great. The noise in this small cafe was overwhelming you couldn't hear the waiters or the other people at the table with the noise of others tables talking loudly. The waiter was a little intrusive continuously asking if we wanted anything - over the top. The toilet facilities were not good for an expensive cafe. BUT the food was spectacular!

This was exactly the level if service that we look for in a restaurant on a good night out. And they did not disappoint! All seven of us had excellent starters and mains.

Great. I've dined here quite a few times but, not since the new owners had taken over. The quality is still fantastic. I had the special - duck a l'Orange. Truly delicious. Someone at my table had the Oxtail and declared it the best they'd ever had.

For desert, I had the creme brûlée which is just as good as I remember. A larger serve than at most restaurants.

We had a table outside on a reasonably cold night but, the gas heating was excellent a no one was cold. My only complaint is the pricing. Mains of around $35 at a suburban restaurant seems excessive however, the quality is certainly there.

Won't go the extra mile.. The food is excellent, shame about the staff and in addition they will not go that extra mile for you. When requesting a reservation for four, I was advised we only have two tables for two left. When I questioned could they not join them together I was told no because they are in different rooms. Wonder why they couldnt put them both in one room? Too much trouble I guess.

Good but not great food. We went there for dinner as part of a large group. Arrived a little late and did not receive a napkin or menu. When I asked the waiter if there was an option for pate (because i love it sooo much) as my entree he informed me it wasn't available. I then saw other diners happily munching away after I'd ordered the soufflé. Apparently it was under the 'breads' menu so he neglected to tell me - v unhappy. I had the duck for mains which was disappointing. My partners meal of the duck pie followed by the eye fillet was good. A disappointing experience overall as I was really looking forward to trying this place out.

Excellent food, service was a bit hit and miss, but generally pretty good. Probably just a tad overpriced for some of the mains...would definitely go again

Absolutely divine! Meals were all made to perfection and staff extremely courteous. Really enjoyed the sorbet that came out between entree and main - white peach! Great little restaurant, highly recommended!

European delight. This is a wonderful little restaurant nestled among the suburban streets of Wooloowin. The quality of the food and service is excellent and the ambience is warm and welcoming. We look forward to our next visit.

We’ve all been there. You might be saving for a wedding (Kirst), an overseas holiday (B and Kirst), or a new car…but regardless of what you’re saving for or how tight your budget is you still don’t want to sacrifice your social life. Enter the humble BYO restaurant – otherwise known as the socialising saviour! These are our favourite BYO joints around town, so grab a friend and a bottle of wine from home and pick your spot. Rhubarb Rhubarb , Wooloowin Fancy french cuisine and BYO can go together and Rhubarb Rhubarb is the perfect example of it! Confit duck and Creme Brûlée wish some BYO champagne make for the perfect celebratory dinner or date night…you can impress without blowing your budget…you can thank us later. Sings Asian Kitchen , Rosalie Sings is quite possibly Brisbane’s worst kept secret…and in our opinion one of its best takeaway and BYO Asian restaurant. They serve up a mixed menu of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai Food so there is plenty for everyone. Our pick? Green Cocon

I've never tried the combination of pork with apricot and I've not seen it around too much, but I have to wonder why, it was great! I'm sure it helped that the pork was sensational, with a cracking that was just stunning and wonderful flavoured pork flesh that wasn't overly fatty. I really liked that there was a heap of the apricot sauce, there was plenty for the whole of the pork belly, so each mouthful had some of the pork and apricot combo. I definitely thought this was one of the better tasting pork dishes I have had.
