Review Heritij - Brisbane

Hau Nguyen
The dishes we ordered were mostly flavoursome and nice especially the pippali chicken and the aubergine dish. The the other dishes weren’t so good. The pastry for the samosas were too thick and the lamb rendang lamb was too dry. They got our bill mixed up which had to be sorted. Also, the staff were too attentive- they checked up on us like almost every 5 mins.

What a place. It's not your usual Indian. Very modern and delicious. The flavours pack a punch but the heat is just right. The venue itself is gorgeous and the staff very attentive. Have a drink on the balcony and look at the beautiful view!

Excellent food and ambiance. All the starters were delicious. We ordered the three curries very tasty and enough for two people to share.. Lamb shank was just perfect..helpful friendly staff and good service. Beautiful views

I was looking online for a venue to celebrate my wife's birthday. Booked Heritij after reading about it online. Plus it was also a new venue in Brisbane offering fusion Indian. We both found it superb with excellent ambiance and a great view of Brisbane River, South Bank and the Brisbane Wheel. We really enjoyed the offerings from the menu, all cooked with care and deliciously. Make sure you request any dishes you prefer to be spicy as the medium heat we picked could be more for myself. The waiters were very attentive, gracious and helpful. There is an open bar area, plenty of sitting and standing room as well as private function dining rooms. Well worth a visit again to try more dishes!

I recently had the opportunity of dining at Heritij and celebrating my sisters birthday. What an amazing experience, the food was cleverly curated contemporary Indian fusion. We shared several dishes which were incredible. The atmosphere, fit out and views are exquisite. Staff were friendly and attentive and were more than happy to provide us with reccomendations. I look forward to returning again.

I decided to have my staff Christmas party in 2018 at Heritij after I had a wonderful meal with my wife on her birthday recently. The Terrace was reserved for us at 5.30pm for drinks and starters that were timed to come out over an hour. We had delectable Bhaji, Rendang Lamb, Pomegranate Prawns and Portobello Beignet. These were simply delicious!! We were then ushered into our private dining room (Wine Room) where 2 waiters brought us food to be admired with its presentation then eaten. We had Haryali Chicken, Goan Fish, Masahari, Spinach Kofta to name some of the truly wonderfully prepared dishes. Our wait staff were very attentive and efficient. Special thanks to Chef Parag(apologies if I have not spelt his name correctly) who ran the kitchen service like clockwork. Many thanks to Randi who helped coordinate the event and plan the dinner. The views are fantastic from the terrace and the mood uber cool, the waitstaff polite, attentive and efficient through the party. Heritij was an excellant choice and we all would love to return. Very highly recommended.

Amazing views of the Brissie river, striking interior. The food was beautifully presented. The entrees were delicious. The pani puri in particular looked impressive and was full of flavour. The curry dishes were decent similar to many other indian restaurants & generous in size. Great choice for a wonderful view and good food.

Attractive venue and polite staff. Good variety on menu. Vegetarian options. Good wine list. Expect to spend $70 per person for a good feed.

To end the week, came to Heritij for a cocktail. Only a few punters, making it easy to score a good comfortable table with a view of Southbank and the Friday peak hour jam on the freeway. (Perversely relaxing)
The friendly bar person might be more accustomed to selling beer. Bit of a palaver to make a Manhattan cocktail (no sweet vermouth in a bar that touts cocktails!?) But ok, took the dry Manhattan to the table... then... the awful music confirmed a lack of attention to how this place actually works for patrons. It was a bit too loud (someone had asked for it to be turned down) but more than that it was just plain bad muzak.
Hope this well positioned bar finds a way to offer more than a watering hole for local inebriated lawyers. (Yes, at 4pm there was a moment of bad behaviour at the bar too)

Great service with a smile, got the food quickly and everything was delicious. Had two entrees with the three curries and three naan, will be back.

Average food, slowest service, arrogant staff. We had to leave after more than 2 hours after entree. Restaurant wasn’t even half full! Manager was arrogant and unapologetic.

booked for a special occasion and ended up leaving. management were brilliant but the food we received was not up to scratch (overcooked). we hope others enjoy the experience but we won't be back.

Beautiful Indian food and great beer like kingfisher. In a new property Hotel W so still finding its feet. Decor is unusual and not too many patrons are flicking but the food is good and tasty and reasonably priced. Now closed

Booked dinner here with FirstTable. The atmosphere and set up of the restaurant was very LUSH to say the least. We had a beautiful seating on the outside balcony overlooking the river. I was not impressed with the very plain service and attitude of the staff. It was also surprising to know that staff didn’t know much about the menu when I was asking questions of consistency of a particular dish or the spice levels.
The flavours were average. I highly rate the pani puri but other than that, I know my local Indian take away would serve me better with delicious food. I was also shocked when I asked for takeaway containers that I was not provided with a carry bag as the restaurant didn’t have them. The waitress response was “no one usually does takeaway” and that “containers are mainly used for storage”.... okay!
I’m happy I went there with firstable discount else I would’ve been unhappy if I paid full price.

Valentine's Day dinner. What we hoped for and expected to be a lovely night with my love, turned out to be a bit of a car crash. 45 minutes to get to the first entree and a total of over two hours to get to the underwhelming main meal, including over-cooked dry samosas, over-cooked Barramundi, and food not up to most takeaway quality, along with mains coming out luke-warm to boot which was basically sauce with minimal meat, with infrequent service due to gross understaffing and the wait staff literally running around to bring out food which screams of poor planning, on a night where we expected a bit more than mediocre service was really disappointing to say the least and horribly overpriced. You'd be better off going to your local Indian takeaway for a quarter the cost, quite literally. When we finished (skipping dessert because we didn't want to wait the expected half an hour) and mentioned to the manager what our experience was, we were quickly dismissed and palmed off to the poor bar tender who was was gracious in listening to our issues with the night... She was quite amazing in light of all that and was one of the few who took the whole thing seriously, so all credit to her. All in all, not value for money AT all, sorry to say. A venue which looks good, but fails to deliver. Sadly.

We had the delicious samosas for starters (they were so tasty, as was the sauce they were served with) along with pakoras. The portions were a very good size and there were 4 of each.
For mains we had the three naans and the three curries share plates between two. The naans were fine, more crispy than soft. Would skip the garlic naan as it was pretty loaded with garlic. The curries were not hot, even the lamb vindaloo was mild but still tasty.
I’d be back for a drink from the fabulous bar and the yummy samosas in a beautiful spot by the river.
The service was excellent.

The tandoori chicken did not taste like it was cooked in a tandoor, it was juicy though bland. The lobster was off, so the server suggested the lamb shank v.enthusiastically. Naan to go with. Both lamb shank and naan were bland. The lamb shank’s sauce was so cooked down it had lost any semblance of brightness or freshness. Classical naan is tear shaped and alive with butter freshly applied - here it was neither. The server forgot my side order entirely. This is NOT fine dining and the good people from Michelin would have politely said nothing let alone award a star. Overpromised, under delivered.
FOODIE ADVENTURE
Mixed emotions about this place. Was really looking forward to it too so a bit disappointed that it turned out to be average food. Pros: great location, good outdoor seating, well presented and yummy pani puri and loved the pippali chicken. Had great flavours. Unfortunately this is where the enjoyment ended for us. Cons: average service, average drinks, disappointing main which was curry culture but the worst dish for us was the dessert chai kulfi. It was soo frozen than we couldnt even put our spoon through it and it tasted like slightly milky watery ice. It was a birthday reservation too but it was completely ignored. Also during mains they offered chilli and than charged us for it when it came to paying the bill and the chilli only came towards the end of our main and it was sambal and not hot at all. In conclusion, l was very disappointed.

Been here twice now. First experience was a faultless food experience with the 2nd not living up to the same standards. Both times however the service left more to be desired with long wait times to be served and to for food to come out. The flambé lamb was over cooked and waitstaff was unable to flambé the lamb after multiple attempts
Tarni
Unfortunately average. Food was underwhelming, needed more seasoning and spice. Service was disappointing, our water wasn't filled, plates weren't cleared and the waiters were clumsy (maybe new). I'll be visiting my lovely local Indian in Sandgate before coming back here. The view is the major plus.

Absolutely delicious food and great service! The main that comes with 3 curries is a fantastic idea and every curry was cooked to perfection. Will certainly be returning to this gem!

Heritij is located in a beautiful place with a view of the Brisbane river and Southbank. The service was great. We started off with mango lassi’s which were average and unfortunately did not have much mango in them but had a strong coconut flavour which was nice. For entrees we had the pomegranate prawns and pani puri. North delicious and loved the presentation of the pani puri with the shot glasses of liquid to pour into the pani puri! For mains we got three curries with naan and the curries were cooked to perfection! The chicken and lamb were deliciously tender and so too the fish. Desert was a creative take on traditional Indian desserts and were presented beautifully! The Gulab Jamun was definitely my favourite! I would have rated this place a 3.5 if I had the option.

Overall was a delightful dining experience.
Brought by Michelin one-starred chef, the dishes are creative.
We ordered the Pomegranate Prawn, Mangalorean Lobster and the Curry Culture.
The food portion was just enough for two people, as we didn’t order any sides (the serving size of the Mangalorean Lobster was a bit small).
The curry was my favourite, the meats were full of flavours.
Staffs were friendly, and the fit-out of the restaurant is vivid.
Last but not least, nice cocktail!

Good Indian fusion food, the lamb curry was my favourite out of the three, the fish curry was a bit bland but still ok. Samosa tasted beautiful and portion size was good as an entree.
Curry for two is good size if you order entree and a side of naan. If you are a big eater you might need more naan or rice as a side.
Waitresses/waiters were unsure of the menu (but hopefully just because it’s only a new restaurant)
Also they should really ask the customers if they are finished with the food and drink before taking it away (it made us all feel very rushed)
They also have late bookings available but the kitchen closes soon after so if you’re looking for a relaxed dining don’t make the last booking otherwise you’ll feel so rushed having to order entree and main at once.
One huge disappointment was the dessert, gulab jamun, which turned out to be a cheesecake instead !!!! and had absolutely nothing related to gulab jamun. I understand the concept of fusion food but perhaps they should just not call that dessert gulab jamun (the cheesecake tasted good but it really let us all down because it was very misleading because it simply was not gulab jamun)
Nicely decorated restaurant
And beautiful view of Brisbane river
I’d definitely go back to try more food

Came during a week after it’s opening so I could tell their training wheels weren’t off yet so I gave them a little slack. Couple issues first, found that the waiters and waitresses weren’t fully accustomed to the menu, which would be difficult as the menu is Indian with a twist. I also found the staff were rushing us to move onto the next course which was a little annoying.

Now to the good stuff, the food was great and no denying that. Very creative takes on traditional Indian cuisine which was truly intriguing. The beef samosas were unbelievably tasty, such rich spices and flavor. I also tried the curry plate and particularly like the chicken makhna and kashmiri lamb. And last but not least, the beetroot halva aka garam pudding. Just great, so unique and delicious. So overall great restaurant, will def come again once the kinks are ironed out.
