Amazing Chinese cuisine. If you're looking for that old school, wok charred flavour that so many restaurants lack these days, then hit this place up! Very efficient service and nice atmosphere. Food is bang on, love the flavours, generous servings, and great prices too. Get on it.
My husband and I have been visiting here since it has opened, great to find good chinese again. each dish has a unique flavour {rare} love the ma po bean curd , salt and pepper tofu, satay lamb , hell just about everything is great. The chef knows how to blend spices very artfully.
Service is prompt, very courteous and friendly. The tables are spaced nicely with plenty of room between each so conversation can be made and heard. Always anticipate coming here as it is so enjoyable.
I guess Chinese food is out of vogue at the moment, with Thai being the flavour of the month, (or should that be year), because this place should be far busier than it is. I don't know how they keep the food, especially the veg so fresh when there's so few patrons, but it's been consistently great the 4 or 5 so times we've been.
It's got to be one of the best appointed restaurants in the area, with white tablecloths, soft furnishings and carpet, (a big improvement on the previous Indian restaurant which was incredibly loud when full). Only 'Marinara', the Italian joint up the road is in the same league ambience wise, but even it is more casual.
As for the food, the quail entrée is a standout and unbelievably good value. The usual suspects of fillet beef, chow mein, etc. are all great, but the spicy lamb, (and it actually IS spicy), and the deep fried duck with plum sauce are delicious. I don't know how well deep fried stuff would fare when getting a delivery, or takeaway, so if you want maximum crispy goodness with your succulent duck, you know what you need to do: stop reading reviews, grab a bottle, and go.
And just for a bit of balance to the, "I wonder if the owner is writing this?" type review, I wasn't a fan of the curry puffs: too much pastry, and not enough filling, but I see that as an Indian side anyway, so stick to the Chinese and I doubt you'll be disappointed.
