After the lunch from Ginga, I felt like to have a cup of coffee before heading back to Sunnybank. Then I walked to this renowned cafe that I have missed for nearly two years. Although the COVID-19 limits its dine-in business, the take away orders are still very busy.
I followed the queue to have my flat white. Barista did a good job, which refill my caffeine to the satisfactory level👍

I bought a bag of espresso coffee beans from Merlo coffee yesterday and since I purchased a bag I was able to get a free coffee. Merlo coffee is one of my favourite beans and the coffee is just delicious. The store is in a great location in Fortitude Valley, the staff were great and the store was nicely set up.
Being a big fan of Merlo Coffee (having subsisted off them since my days in university), I had always been keen to try out their stand alone store at Fortitude Valley. Unfortunately it is neither near work nor home for me, which meant it was not easy to get to, but having a breakfast nearby provided the perfect opportunity for us to grab a quick coffee beforehand.
One of the best coffees I’ve had since moving to Australia. Highly recommend for all the coffee lovers out there, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.
You have options when it comes to coffee, Di Bella, Campos and then you have Merlo. This coffee served at their fortitude valley store has a great balance and taste and not too hot also go cap.
This is your usually go to place early mornings at 8am, and there is always a crowd. We just order at the window and names get called out when it is ready.
You can also buy their signature coffee beans at the other side. Or you can have a sit in, not too many tables. There are just a handful of parks but it is sort of like a drive through.
Today I was at James st and my partner said she wanted a coffee and as we were just in front of this store we decided to go for it.
We had two dirty chai and a chocolate cannoli.
The cannoli had a nice flavour to it, was probably one of the best I have tried here in Brisbane but the pastry was soggy which I had already imagined when ordering but I went against the odds. It had a nice chocolate flavour was not too sweet and had some bitterness to it. I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.
The dirty chai was creamy and had a nice coffee flavour to it but wasn't spicy enough for me, there are better options around for sure. I would rate it also a 3.5 out of 5.
Overall it was average, didn't leave me with good nor bad impressions.

An incredible variety of coffees await you at Merlo in Fortitude Valley.
The coffee is fantastic - the Flat Whites were easily the best we had on a big coffee adventure day - and rated a 4.5.
The air conditioning is not up to the Brisbane summer and they only had a few baked goods in the tiny display case. Had to dock them slightly for poor air conditioning and lack of nibbles, but this is a definite must-visit if you love coffee.
I had a long black which had a thick velvety crema. It was very chocolatey with a syrup consistency. I was actually impressive by the cafe.
Though the coffee was a little too hot which left some burnt cigarette aftertaste.
There's not much to write about a coffee place. I just want to recommend this place if you're wandering around the area and you hands start to shake from the caffeine withdraw. They roast their own beans and serve great coffee. Also try their mocha; it's pretty special.
