Tried the vegan fish burger from here. Pretty amazing how they can make a fish-less fish burger that actually tastes pretty good! The price is reasonable and I definitely would come back here again as I really enjoyed it.
Showing a family friend around Brisbane, they announced that they would live a good feed of Fish & Chips.
I took a leap of faith and decided to check out Swampdog just behind Southbank on Vulture Street.
Parking was difficult, but the parking fairies were on my side for once and we eventually found a park in this difficult area of South Brisbane.
We decided to order the Yummy Tummy pack for $22.50 and a few extra prawn cutlets.
We sat outside at one of the tables under an umbrella and enjoyed the sunshine while we wait for our meal. When they gave us our order, it looked and tasted amazing.
The whiting fillets were very tasty, but the star of the meal were the amazing prawn cutlets. So juicy and the batter seemed to be almost like a tempura.
The salt & pepper squid was very very SALT & PEPPER!
Now, I usually feel like crap after eating all that greasy food, but after this meal I was content but not feeling like I just swallowed a bucket of sludgy oil!
If I want fish and chips the next time I am around Southbank or West End, I know where to head!
The only thing that disappointed me was the menu board was poorly presented, and it felt a like the place needed a bit of a clean up or reno, but the product was amazing.
Yummo barramundi battered like I've never had. The batter was extremely thin and crispy with the perfect amount of salt. The portions were overly generous for me and I ended up leaving nearly all of the chips. I would have preferred the chips to be cooked longer, but that is my preference-should have asked. Time for a nap now with a full belly on a rainy Brisbane day.
