Pleasant service with some good specials for breakfast & lunches. Nice setting overlooking the doggy park with outdoor seating. We had breakfast there & although basic was fresh & tasty. My avocado was layered in chunky slices with cherry tomatoes & a sprinkling of feta. Coffee is Merlo but needs a double shot to savor that flavor

TL;DR: M.Y. Roasting Cafe does everything in its power to become the reliable local that the nearby residents will get drawn to. It is pretty straightforward as the fare can get, with it being a suburban cafe and all. What they use to get people to come back is friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. Location is also heavily in their favour.

It follows what is quickly becoming a tradition around the middle suburbs, and that is the cafe where the idea is more about getting the right location to meet up than anything else. Yeronga now as their version, and here it is with the name hidden in their title. While it was implied the food is not the primary target about why people would choose here, it is the glue that will keep them coming back - especially if they happen to be just a few streets away. Business sense is front and center, as is decent enough food and coffee.

The usual M.O. was coming up - Sunday morning and finding a place for breakfast. The ball was in my court for this week, and the decision had been made via the option falling right into my lap. Seeing the notifications on the app, many new followers pop up on a frequent basis. That includes different cafes and restaurants, and lo-and-behold, what do we have here? I had to check the profile out, and it looked like a new coffee place had opened up and that was that.

From the moment you enter the doorway, or even start showing a small bit of interest in looking at the place, a member of waitstaff pounces without hesitation. That is the start of it, with the small aspects about customer service getting executed throughout the experience - those add up, and during a longer affair the difference is noted, while in a quick meal they are nice gestures that have you remembering them.

Plus, the preference pops up again - table service. It always make it that bit relaxing. They give you enough time to peruse the menu, and while you are going that the glasses are brought to the table, then they fill them up with water. Time and again, I have mentioned that it is a favoured gesture with customer service - so we are getting deeper into the good books as we speak. Later on, when they saw the water levels getting a bit low, they brought a full bottle to the table. An eagle-eye, and a pleasant personality, that is all that is needed to start ensuring customers enjoy their time there.

I can't put it into words exactly, yet when I see it I do know it is there. Upon making the decisions about designing a cafe with the layout and the aesthetics, it becomes quickly apparent when Japanese are at the helm. It was the case here, and for a bit of help for the uninitiated simplicity is key. While nothing much is that special with the way it is set out, how they chose to do it works in its own favour. Everything is spaced out well enough to have good through flow for the air, each table has a plant on it plus a stand doubling as the table number, and somewhere to hold the cutlery and serviettes.

It's location is not able to be faulted either. Inside is quite comfortable, and in personal preferences I do tend towards being an inside sort of person most of the time. With that being said, I absolutely do appreciate it when the al fresco dining is done well. They do it as such right here. This is a great area of town to do some dog-walking, and dog-walkers still like to have their sustenance (or in this case, coffee). Water is set out for the canines, and plenty of seats are right there underneath a good amount of shade. Doubling the benefits for the four-legged friends, an off-leash area is right adjacent in the park across the road. It would be hard to be better planned than this.

The range of food on their menu is a selection of cafe standards during both the breakfast and lunch time rush. Breakfast divides itself into the light range first before going over for a couple of dishes aimed at some of the bigger eaters out there. Getting into lunch, you have your burgers, you have your pasta, and you have your schnitzel, plus fish and chips for good measure. In addition to those, several snacks and bites are on offer. If dessert is on your mind, simply check the cabinet as they ought to have a rotating selection of treats that can be easily paired with coffee.

Speaking of the coffee, the next thing is the drinks. You got the coffee, and the loose leaf teas to begin. A few neat surprises arrive with the latter, not purely giving the general array, and it is the espresso-based range for the former. With regards to that, the other beverages that get roped in are also on offer.

If it is something a little bit colder that tickles your fancy, they also have the cold beverages often roped into coffee houses as well. Plus the basic flavours of milkshake, a house special, smoothies, and juices.

Coffee is made by beans from Merlo ... that depends on who is at the helm with the machine. Regardless is rarely comes up as one of the beans I tend towards, but I give benefit of the doubt when seeing the sign. They managed to do well by it this time. The shot was fairly strong, and it had a thick creama on top to compliment it. A rich blend they chose, and it made quite the difference.

When it came to getting something to eat, I went with a reliable eggs Benedict, opting for the good old ham. The eggs - which were pretty big themselves - were smothered with a thick lot of hollandaise sauce. This one got infused with truffle oil, and paprika which resulted in a smokier flavour. It was on top of some basic toast, and got finished off with a bit of alfalfa as a garnish.

It was a pretty decent breakfast. The portion was generous, especially in looking at the size of the eggs. The yolks did their job becoming another sauce, which when mixed with the rich texture of the hollandaise became something else entirely. The ham they used was good enough, a couple of big slices that accompanied the egg fairly well, plus the spinach offset it all for some much needed freshness.

From my house mate's breakfast - he got the big fry up as per usual (someone's always got to) - I managed to score a bit of his bacon, some hashbrown, a bit of sausage, and even a bit of the tomato relish. One neat aspect about the version of the big breakfast here is that as well as choosing how you want your eggs, they also give you a choice for what kind of toast you want on the side. Decent sausage, hashbrowns always make a nice addition, plus the tomato relish was certainly done in-house. These guys also know how to cook bacon - it go crispy enough to be delicious.

What we got on our hands is a place that has a lot of potential, and it is apparent that they understand the potential that they have to be a good local watering hole. The major one is the location, being just around the corner from plenty of suburban streets, and across the road - and it shares walls with some other restaurants - a big oval is located which is great for the kids between times. However, the real adhesive that brings this place together in being welcoming is the waitstaff. They work efficiently, and it already looks like the good news has come out.

Great hidden away location. Busy Cafe while being very efficient. The truffle omelette was beautifully presented and delicious. Looking forward to returning to try more of their dishes. Rode our bikes so plenty of bike parks. Obviously a favourite with the locals as it seemed that everyone knew everyone.

Lovely gem in the middle of Yeronga, opposite the park and sitting amongst Queenslanders in the leafy residential suburb. The food is really nice, the Chili Prawn Spaghetti is to die for. Matcha Latte had a bit too much powder and was not mixed well so had some residual at the bottom, but really not a big deal. Nonetheless still highly recommend it if you are looking for a cafe to stop by. Friendly owners and staff, thumbs up.

The coffee was tasty. Excellent location in such cold weather this month (May). However, the only thing I did not like was that the menu was limited.

Absolutely delightful. The food is delicious, balanced, and very well presented. My coffee was very tasty. The staff are very friendly. I had the Chef's Benedict and it's wonderful. The eggs are gooey, the hollandaise is perfect, the potato rosti is creamy, the little extras add more flavour and texture, and everything works well together. They even happily swapped out the chorizo for haloumi which was also great.

Lovely spot. Friendly staff, great coffee and a brilliant location just across the road from a park with an enclosed off-leash area for dogs. Quite busy when we visited on a Sunday morning but the turn around on food and drink orders was remarkably fast. Ample parking close by on quiet suburban streets.

Matcha 🍵 letter was good. Just an Okay Egg Benedict. Won’t recommend it. Fusion vegan dish was better than I expected.
