Going through the list of some more Japanese places to try, next on my list was Momiji which had opened a few months ago at Newstead. Again, I hadn't seen much by way of social media about this place but had been recommended to try it by a friend. We headed over on a Saturday lunch. The place was half full and I really liked the Japanese vibes of the setup. Service was quick and friendly.
Came here with my partner today. This place has got really good value for money and friendly service.
Shared the Agedashi Tofu which was great. Nice balanced broth. Followed with Sashimi Don and Kaisen Don which had some of the freshest raw fish.
I would say they certainly under charge by 25% for the food. Thank you for an amazing food experience. We will be back for sure!
This was one of the best lunches I've had in a long time. I had their Chicken Katsu don lunch special and it was impeccable. For such a good price, you really get your value. And the service was amazing! Everyone was super lovely and provided a great experience.
I look forward to going there again!

I live in Newstead and that is why I decided to try this restaurant (I usually try Japanese restaurant cautiously). This is my third ?forth time to dine in on a Saturday for lunch. This restaurant has not disappointed me even once since it’s opening.
I have Kaisen don (sashimi don) every time. The sashimi is always nice and fresh in good variety and generous serving.
Also, the staffs are always warm and welcoming.
If my partner or friend ask me to go out for a poke bowl, I would rather come here for a sashimi don without a hesitation.
Finally, I believe the quality of the food is better than how it is rated.
Never lets me down. I’ve had their Chicken Yakisoba numerous times - and I still drool thinking about it. Tried their lunchtime sushi rolls today (Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu), made fresh to order, and WOW. Loved every single bite. Service is always above and beyond too!
Momiji Newstead is absolutely worth a try! Food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. I had aburi wagyu and Momiji bento box last night and they were so delicious, good portion, reasonably priced. Can’t believe the rating here is 3.4 only. Do not trust it.

This place is so cute! I found them on Zomato looking for a newly opened place and so glad I went. The server (maybe manager) was so nice and I had the udon the chicken was so juicy! Definitely coming back soon! I’ll try some sushi next time :)
Absolutely love this place! We come here once a week at least... they are the loveliest people and deserve to do so well!! Their prawn tempura, gyoza and chicken teriyaki is absolutely delicious!! Have been waiting for a jap place to open around us for so long so this is heaven!! See you guys soon 🤪
Frequent here very often. Sue and the rest of the staff are amazing, friendly, attentive and always accommodating to any special requests. Food is always high quality, prepared fresh and delivered in a timely manner - momiji is consistently excellent :)
Deliciously fresh food with high quality preparation. The Sashimi was soft and flavoursome. The staff were super friendly, polite and helpful. Quick service ensured.
We visit this restaurant by chance and love their Bento Box and curry. Love to come there again.
Great little place to grab some Japanese, eat in or takeaway. Mom and Dad team do a great job of preparing a meal.

Our favourite Japanese restaurant! If the blue fin tuna platter is on offer, it’s a must. Super friendly and fast service.
Fantastic! Everything fresh, delicious and authentic. Sashimi should be same quantity but more thinly sliced but that's just nitpicking. It's a must visit for fans of the cuisine. Chicken teriyaki bento was in the top 3 tasted in Australia over the past decade.
