I go to a pub for 3 reasons. A steak, cold beer and to relax. The doors closed behind me and the latter started. The cold beer added to the relaxation but it wasn't until I had the first bite of the perfectly medium rare that I really felt like just saying stuff it!...I'll stay the rest of the afternoon.
Thank you for the great service and a damned fine meal.

We had a wonderful experience at The Gap Tavern celebrating my husband's 75th Birthday.  The staff couldn't have been more helpful and even though there were 35 of us in the glassed off area of the Bistro, all our meals came out together.  The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal.  The staff were  very obliging and were happy to provide knife and plates for our birthday cake.  Thank you for helping to make our evening such an enjoyable one.

Wasn't Bad. I am surprised to see so many negative reviews on the food. We ate there last night had a starter of bruschetta and mains of rump steak and chicken parma. All three were delish. The steak was ordered rare and came out rare, very tender and just lovely. The chicken parma was very nice, good quality ham just enough cheese, a little lacking in the tomato parma sauce but not enough to worry about. Husband had a creamy garlic sauce on his steak and that was very bland and tasted more like the steak it was on than garlic.
It was astoundingly busy considering it was a Wednesday night but our food came out within 15 minutes of ordering. The staff weren't rude just busy but whatever the POS system is, it really held up ordering - it appeared that changing our order from a Coke Zero to a Diet Coke was rather tricky.
As we were leaving the lead waiter came and checked on us to see if our meal was okay etc - overall we were really very happy with dinner last night and would go there again - maybe tho try a Tuesday night - oh and take a jumper with the windows open and air con does get a bit chilly.

Food amazing what a find. Had been craving beef Wellington for so long and yes found a place that not only make s it but makes it well. To finish had cherry cheesecake with a great cup of coffee. The service was quick but not to the point where you feel rushed out the door, plates were taken away after everyone had finished their food. Value for money only slightly more than two whopper meals at maccas. Great value and menu choice is amazing. Thanks for a great night

Hit & Miss. My family dines at the Gap Tavern once a month or two. It's always hit and miss, maybe because the menu changes quite often? Still, its nice to order something different. The steaks are excellent, majority of the time.

Brilliantly Plain (most of the time). It's not ALWAYS great, as some have said, but more often than not The Gap Tavern do get it right. They do nothing more than your mid-high range pub food and they do it without pretence and, frankly, a little unspectacularly, but this isn't a gastropub, it's a local watering hole. It's a kid-friendly one as well, which can make it a little rough if you're after some peace and quiet, but is excellent if you're looking for somewhere widely suitable.

My suggestion after many years of eating here is simply to order steak. It's what they do best. Don't worry about getting a topper, don't think about the entrees, don't be tempted by the fish basket or the parma; hell, don't even bother with the surf and turf. More often than not you'll get a brilliantly cooked, quality piece of beef and that's all you can really ask for in an establishment like this, as far as I'm concerned. Also, I've only tried their Wagyu once and it was not worth the price, sorry! Don't try and get too tricky on the wine menu, either, their value options are usually as good as the more expensive drops. And don't be afraid to use your shop-a-docket, they're discrete...

The aforementioned kid thing might be a deal breaker, but the ambience here isn't too bad, particularly if you score a table on the deck. The view is nice enough and the decore is fine. Inside, it's just your usual suburban dolled up pub that looks pretty much exactly like every other pub in Brisbane's suburbs (which is a shame).

The Gap Tavern keep it simple and to get the most out of the experience you should do the same.

We dine here reasonably often and the food is always great. Had dinner here last night and food was up to the usual standard, but service/ communication between the various staff members was very poor. In total, waited over an hour for our garlic bread, had 1 child's meal come out before anything else and that had had been well and truly eaten by the time the remaining 3 meals came out. Were then informed that our garlic bread had only just been started and did we still want it. (This was after we had earlier asked 2 staff members to check on it. One was the manager who brought out the first child's meal. When I mentioned it he assured me it was on it's way) We said yes as it is a favorite with the kids. Later reassured (spontaneously; we didn't ask) that the garlic bread price would be removed from the bill. Ordered an extra drink during the meal which never came. The extra drink and garlic bread were on the final bill... To be fair, the place was full but I noticed other tables getting their meals in a piecemeal fashion as well, so we weren't the only ones. All in all, they do offer a great meal in a lovely setting and atmosphere but really need to get the staff working together better, especially if they are willing to take bookings/ fill the place to capacity.

Great Friday Night. I love heading to the Gap Tavern for dinner on a Friday night. The food is not overly priced and tastes great! Remember to book though because it is known to be booked out.

What a lovely tavern, nestled amongst the trees. Great outlook from the verandah. The customer service was great, I always appreciate being acknowledged whilst I'm waiting to be served. A quick, ''I'll be with you shortly", goes a long way. The food was fantastic... best rissole's I've had in a long time. Loved the caramelised onion gravy and creamy mash that went with it. There was a special on the Great Northern, $7 for a pint. Cheap! Quiet atmosphere... will certainly be going back!

Food was ok. Some items like the crispy skin Barra was warm and not crispy. Pricing average. Drinks came quickly, however entrees were slow. Ordering system effective. Good for a Tavern meal.

FOOD & DRINK My wife and I dined at Gap Tavern on a quiet weeknight in early Oct. The Gap Tavern is part of the ALH Group, whose stable includes the Brunswick Hotel, the famous Royal Exchange in Toowong, the Indooroopilly Hotel, the Newmarket, the Morrison and many other fab pubs around Brisbane. We’ve dined at a number of them and always found the standards to be consistently high. We’ve never been disappointed at an ALH Hotel, and the Gap Tavern was no exception. We started with two refreshing cocktails, the espresso martini and the vodka and orange juice. They were both excellently made and delivered personally to our table by the friendly bartender. Great way to start the evening. As seniors, we were able to avail ourselves of the generous seniors menu. We ordered four items to share: calamari with lemon, aioli, chips and salad ($14), beef rissoles with peas and mash ($14), a garden salad ($9) and stir fried Asian vegetables with ginger and soy ($9). Every dish was delicious. The calamari was fresh and chewy with a crispy batter, whilst my rissoles were cooked to perfection and accompanied by peas and a dollop of creamy mash. The wholesome salad and crunchy Asian vegetables were the ideal complement to the calamari and the rissoles. Clearly, only the best premium grade ingredients are used. All the dishes were neatly presented to the table on elegant white crockery. Serving sizes were generous and we couldn’t have been happier with our meals. AMBIENCE G.T. is a large place that’s airy and comfortable, with indoor and outdoor seating. Being a warm spring night we decided to sit outdoors, which was cool and pleasant although this is the kiddie-friendly part of the place with a little play area. There were a couple of large family groups with kids, some of whom were a bit out of control, running up and down on the timber flooring. If you want a quieter, more sedate atmosphere, it’s best to sit indoors, which isn’t such a bad thing, because the indoors dining room is a plush and elegant space with low mood lighting, carpets throughout and sturdy wood and steel furniture. The ambience there is calm, laid back and relaxed, with good acoustics. SERVICE For the first time at an ALH Hotel, we decided to order using the app. It’s a fairly simple process of scanning the barcode, which is affixed to a little disc on each table. The menu will appear on your phone and you can simply order and pay from there. After ordering, it didn’t take long for the meals to arrive. Our young lady server was neatly turned out in a smart black uniform. She was friendly, polite and efficient and meals came out quickly. The only disadvantage of this kind of ordering is that all the food comes out at once, even though we had intended the calamari to be an entree. I guess one needs to call the waitress and make a special request. COST With our seniors' discounts, we paid a modest 75 pesos for two cocktails, an entree, a main meal, a plate of vegetables and a salad. That’s solid value for money in these hyperinflationary times, when our little Aussie peso is becoming more worthless by the day. PARKING Easy, free parking in the car park just outside the venue. At one end of the car park is the handy well stocked Dan Murphy’s liquor store, so if you’re still thirsty after your meal, you can stock up there. SUMMARY We had a pleasant evening here and everything ran smoothly. This is a first class venue, that’s airy, spacious and comfy with different seating options. Food is outstanding, service is efficient, friendly and attentive, and the app ordering makes the whole process easy. Add to that clean toilets and free parking right outside and you have all the ingredients for a perfect dinner with friends or family.

My family enjoys going to The Gap Tavern. The service is usually prompt and good. Their menu system (the use me&u) is easy to use and very convenient. The food is usually quite good. I like a nice steak n chips meal with a salad on the side. I always enjoy my meal here. Why didn't I give them 5 stars? They are often sold out of various salads and meals, meaning that you have to choose something else. If this just happened once I would not mention it, but it happens regularly, especially if you like things that are a bit alternative, like a Buddha Bowl. That said, they do have a large range, so my family always gets something they are happy to eat. I should also mention they have a good selection of beers wines and spirits as you might expect. I like to buy red wine by the glass and they usually have something I like.

Food was surprisingly good for the average pub meal! Unfortunately we had booked late and found it hard to get in amongst the crowd, nevertheless we still got a table for 6!a little disappointing to see so many empty tables that were probably booked and either no show or cancelled. Good vibe, Very dedicated team, they were understaffed and the food took a little longer than expected, but that was no one's fault, it came out hot and fresh and there were no complaints from our table! Cheers again. Will be back, next time will hopefully snag a table on the deck, the view is awesome. 👌😎😀

My fiancé and I recently came to The Gap Tavern and ordered two steaks cooked rare. When the restaurant manager checked in to ask how our meals were, we informed them that the steaks were cooked slightly over. Without any hesitation they replaced our entire meals which were then cooked to perfection plus two free drinks! Couldn’t believe it!! We were super impressed with the level of customer service. Will 100% be coming back.
