Really liked this place. Wish I lived closer so I could go more often.
I have been to Milkwood on several occasions before as they do seriously good cake and coffee here, but on our most recent visit we decided to have something a bit more substantial. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere of this gem in Brunswick, as it has a relaxed vibe with it's lovely courtyard and art on the walls. Staff are welcoming and service is really good too.
We chose to have a fritter special, and it was delicious with it's portobello mushrooms and beautiful poached eggs. The fritters were golden and crispy and it tasted delicious.
The pancakes are a menu staple, and certainly lived up to my expectations. This generous serve of fluffy pancakes was topped with rhubarb, berries, syrup, honeycomb and cream. So indulgent and heavenly. The sharpness of the rhubarb was the perfect foil for the sweet elements, and I could indulge in these every day.
In the busy cafe scene of Brunswick, Milkwood has a loyal following because of it's good, honest food, friendly service and fantastic ambience. Oh, and of course, the divine cakes.
Milkwood is has a fantastic range of food. I especially love the Pancakes and Bircher muesli which were some of my favorites. The 2 things which brought my experience here down was the wait for a table and the wait for food. These both took ages and is not ideal. I really love this cafe and highly recommend it.
Well howdy Zomato readers!
Just wanted to leave a little review for my new favourite breakfast joint, Milkwood. The verdict is in folks, its great! My cappuccino was well executed and my bacon sandwich was delectable.
How refreshing to finally discover a cafe in "hip" brunswick that isn't "too cool for school".
Great place!
Staff are friendly and relaxed; nice music and atmosphere. Hummingbird cake is perfect- not too sweet. Coffee is smooth, drinkable iced and without sugar. That’s rare 😍
I personally wouldn’t serve a cake on top of a napkin cause the first thing people/I do is remove the napkin and make a mess, but anyway 😅 Really cute place. Thank you.
Sat in their seating area at the back which was quite spacious for our family of 5. Kids enjoyed some time colouring in while waiting for our food. The baguettes were super delicious and we will definitely be back to try their other things on the menu.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awesome!
Pros - the juices, the mushroom breakfast (which was insanely good) and the staff
Cons - Slightly over priced, minimal seating.
Overall an awesome brekkie spot and would highly recommend.

I love this place! Delicious food and silky coffee. Great place to eat or just sit and watch the trams go past out the window.
A small little brunch spot in Brusnwick East full of interesting vegan options - not just your standard smashed avo for us vegans at this joint!
I chose the vegan fried kale with grilled tofu sanwich, and was not disappointed. Could have done with a little more seasoning on the tofu as i had to add some salt and pepper separately, but other than that was pleasant.
Coffee was also great.
Thanks Zomato Gold for another great deal :)
While I love porridge for breakfast, I rarely buy it out. But I was feeling like a sweet and comforting breakfast so I went for the porridge at Milkwood and it was just what I needed. The stewed pears made a perfect addition and helped to create something sort of like a crumble. The coffee is also nice, as is the service, but the space is small so there may be a wait.
Another great Modern Australian brunch place, Milkwood had a nice ‘home’ feel to it. The (typical brunch) meals were delicious, the coffee was good, the service was friendly. The food and drink selections were decent as well. We had their banana cinnamon toast and eggs kerjiwal - and they were both really good! Highly recommend.
Lovely little breakfast (or lunch!) spot. Cozy, quirky surroundings and delicious food and drinks.
Food was great, table service was great. Sat in the courtyard out the back with my dogs. Nobody else out there. Waitress commented that the only people outside today were people with their dogs. There was a bowl for their water. When I went to pay the chef was taking payment & made a comment about ‘where they out there there the whole time you were eating?’ then something about ‘I’m just a Chef but dogs shouldn’t be around food’. Put a dampener on the experience. Stay in the kitchen buddy. People skills aren’t your forte.
Just amazing food and staff xxx highly recommend!
Great service, good food and coffee. Went for take away during lockdown 5.0 and staff was very friendly, opened the door for me because I was holding 2 coffees and a ham chesse croissant.
Fantastic food, coffee and service, set in gorgeous, comfortable surrounds. Milkwood is definitely at the top of my list of best cafes in town.
Had the Rhubarb pancakes. Fantastic! Loved it. Sweet venue that doesn't get too loud when full.
The honey comb was a little over done but otherwise I was very satisfied by the food and coffee! Staff are a little slow to service the table.
Breakfast foods and bagels all day.
Went here on the long weekend and had a great brunch. We came with a pram and three dogs and they were super accomdating moving two tables together outside. My food was lovely (mushrooms) plus I got a generous side of bacon! The service (drinks order) was pretty slow considering we had a double espresso and flat white, but would still recommend if you aren't in a rush!
