Best hidden find that has vegetarian/vegan options while we were in Melbourne over Easter, had the best vibes and the staff were super friendly and I must say the black maple society has me drooling wishing I was back here
I absolutely love this place. Amazing vegan menu. I take everyone I love there and just like me they are never disappointed. Oh yeah, probably some of the best coffee I've had in Melbourne.
The vegan menu here is dope. So many options; healthy and naughty. Coffee is pretty solid too. One of the better places around that offer to vegan options. Good stuff.
Very cool cafe with great vegan (and non-vegan) offerings.
Great place to eat in or grab some takeaway from the display counter.
With an entire vegan menu, this is a great option if you have vegan/ vegetarian brunch friends.
They seem to have stepped up their game of late and I can’t go past swinging by for their takeaway halloumi wrap and their killer sausage roll.
👌
Good vegan options (and many of them) are hard to come by. This joint has a full menu of them. Tasty food and coffee is pretty decent as well.
Beautiful food, great atmosphere. Caters very well for Vegan. It took me so long to order because the options where soo good!! Finally settled for the Soup Special.... Gorgeous flavour and healthy. Definately be back to try the rest of the menu one-at-a-time. Thank you Chef!!!

the housemade hash brown is an absolute unit and it alone deserves 5 stars. i've never been impressed by a hash brown until now gotdamn. wicked separate vegan menu. the cheesy rock music references are great and the best tofu scramble i've had. shoutout to the waitress with the blonde hair and septum ring, super lovely and calm demeanour
The vegan French toast with fairy floss and black tahini sauce is probably the best sweet breakfast dish I've ever eaten in Melbourne. It's perfectly balanced, so innovative compared to most sweet cafe breakfast dishes, and best of all, fully plant-based. Add the gingerbread tofu, you won't regret it.
We’ve just read a few reviews of this place and sure, the staff can come off a bit nonchalant and whatever but YOU’RE IN BRUNSWICK. If there is Ray of Ray’s café they probably give zero sh*ts what you think about their café. The first time we ventured here over a year ago (visiting from Brisbane) we were a bit put off by the service. But on our second stay in Brunswick after we’d got a real feel for the area, we totally get the vibe of Ray’s. We rocked up for a super late Saturday breakfast and ordered the the Beast of Brunswick with added egg AND haloumi. There is something so glorious about two types of cheese on one burger. We also had the Johnny Hash which was freaking divine. I was a bit worried about the pickled fennel but it was on the side and very small. I wish there was a bit more smashed peas as they were great to cut through the saltiness of the chorizo and potato hash. I loved the food so much that I went back again – next time solo, opting for the Insane Brown Toastie. I love me a good croquet monsieur and this one was goodie. While it was certainly rich the quince aioli balanced it perfectly. Cause you’re in Brunswick obviously dishes here are plated with trademark IDGAF hipster love. Coffee was great and service was fast and actually really friendly this time round. Loved the Tarantino tunes too guys – we’ll be seeing you again for sure! “Sure, Kill Bill's a violent movie. But it's a Tarantino movie. You don't go to see Metallica and ask the f****rs to turn the music down” -QT
I ordered the Hash Sultana and loved it. It was a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The coffee was good also. We followed it up with the a toasted slice of Bananarama, banana bread made with beurre noisette (brown butter). Great breakfast thank you.
I come here regularly and the food is consistently creative and delicious. Coffee and sweets are great too. This would've been a 5-star rating but the service is so slow and the waitstaff is so rude and indifferent that asking a question would be inconveniencing them. They look like they'd rather be somewhere else; there's no joy or passion in what they do. The terrible customer service lets this otherwise fantastic business down.
Creative and delicious food & drinks, all with terrible band name-based puns for names. Excellent coffee. Great service. One of Brunswick’s best.
I was strolling through Brunswick on a sunny ☀️ winter ❄️ day when a little café caught my attention. From the outside it looked like a tiny little café serving coffee-to-go only with just three tiny little tables to the front outside.
But at the second look 👀 Café Ray is a beautiful and big café with a full kitchen. If you like vegan food, you will be more than happy.
The vegan falafel 🧆 and the salad 🥗 of the day was delicious and I enjoyed also my long black! I start enjoying long blacks more and more. Compared to an Americano, it is nice to see the crema on top.
Sitting in the sun ☀️ and listening to the amazing Berlin style club music 🎶 I felt like sitting at the Spree in Berlin after a long club night.
Amazing vibes, great music, super delicious food and tasty coffee! The entire team was super friendly and great fun to talk to!

This place is the ray of sunshine we needed after a big night out. Crawled in feeling under the weather, strode out with the energy to face the day with optimism and ebullience! Best vegan snag I've tasted with a healthy dose of Costa Rica filter = happy belly. Staff are kind, patient and have a keen eye for their art.
This place is just awesome! Swedish food, mix your own if you feel like. Try Eggs Benedict and potatoes, it's so yummy 😋
Favourite cafe in Brunswick. Never disappoints. The best Vegan sausage roll you'll ever have. Staff are very friendly and personable and coffee is great every time. A short walk from Sydney road which is great because the traffic isn't so loud. Also dog friendly!
My mum and I came to Ray's early in the morning just after arriving in Melbourne, and we were so happy we chose this lovely café to have our breakfast at. We liked how they had a second menu with all vegan options, and we had the pancakes which were delicious, and our coffees were so so good. The service was so friendly and welcoming and struck up conversation, and explained the origins of their roast and the processes involved with home making their meals. The space also had a good vibe, with outdoor seating front and back. A lovely space to spend a morning, or anytime really.
Grabbed a coffee, strong latte. Staff super nice, coffee is outstanding. Strong flavour, well made.
Ray’s has been on my list for a long time, so happy I finally got the chance to check them out! Staff were friendly, food was delicious, the coffee hit the spot as well. Very spacious interior with great lighting. Pancakes were the standout of this visit, with my husband claiming they are the best he has had, in Melbourne. We will definitely be back for more.
