This was the highlight (food wise) of the trip to Byron. But you need to book as the place is packed.
Food was fresh and fast. Everyone on our table enjoyed the various meals we ordered.
Cocktails were top end as well. But do come with knowing the bill will be pretty pricey. Good food is going to cost more.
Amazing - you can order small bites while u wait for your table which is a great idea so you don’t get hangry! The betel leaves were great, salt and pepper squid which I usually think is boring was delicious - papaya salad is not that hot - I was worried it would b too spicy as menu says hot. It was great. Khao Soi was not like others I’ve had - no onion and no noodle in the curry soup - just the fried noodle on top. Still flavours were good. Cocktails also lovely. It’s Like Byron Bays Version of Long Grain
Loved the creative cocktail menu (I had the chilli 🌶 tequila, campari, watermelon, as well as the pineapple margarita.) We’re vegetarian, and appreciated the wider menu to accomodate: the mushroom wontons were AMAZING, so fragrant with abundant coriander and spring onion garnishing, the caramelised eggplant sweet and the roasted cauliflower yellow curry deliciously balanced.
Busy and popular place. Good menu, although dishes are sweet, more so than classic recipes.
Highly recommend the Pork Char Siu dish and the Apple and Fennel Pork Belly dish. Loved the whole experience, dim lit ambiance, romantic food and vibes
The food was absolutely amazing! So much flavour, portions are averagely sized. But very expensive, over $150 for three people. The beef ribs and chicken curry were definitely the highlight.
We had a very pleasant dinner at bang bangs. The seafood in particular was our favourite, especially the prawn salad. Bang bangs is one of our favourite Restuarants in Byron.

Went to Bang Bang for dinner on a Tuesday night at 6:00PM. We had a table booking and thankfully we booked as if we arrived any later than 6:30PM we would not have been given a table. We had a window seat as seen in the first photos. This was probably the coolest place to sit (temperature wise) as we had a slight breeze coming in. The restaurant didn’t appear to have any cooling. No ceiling fans or air conditioning units so it was very hot. The overall atmosphere of the place was great. With easy listening music in the background and a nice buzz around the restaurant. In terms of the food, it was all great. Elleni Tsaketas and I had the Bang-Quet which gave us a little taste of everything. The Bang-Quet was $55pp which isn’t to bad considering we were given two entrees, two mains, a side and a desert. As I mentioned before, the food was delicious with my favourites being the king fish sashimi and the Beef Massaman. Overall, a great place to eat with delicious food and friendly stuff with a great atmosphere. For two people, we spent $160. We will definitely be going back!
We've died and gone to heaven. In a word wow.! Everything about our dining experience was wonderful. The super friendly staff, who were all involved with the attentive service, was special. We shared the Bang-Quet which incredibly had all our favourite dishes made next level exquisite. Flavour with a complexity, depth and exotic tang. Thanks for having us. Cheers
We did ‘The Big Bang’ banquet and we’re blown away! It was the perfect meal (come hungry) with great wine and cocktail options. Coming from Melbourne we love to try out great restaurants from across the country. Bang Bang is worth a trip to Byron!
Been wanting to come here for several years and never managed to get a booking.
If you are coming for a holiday during peak time I recommend you make a booking months ahead.
Food and drinks were awesome.
If you are a foodie like us and you have eyes bigger than your stomach go for the banquet so you can get to try a bit of everything.
The drinks were also fantastic. The bartenders did an amazing job with the drinks.
My wife and I were visiting Byron Bay for our 20th anniversary and we had a wonderul dining experience at Bang Bang. The team were engaging, friendly and professional. My wife couldn't decide what drink to get and asked the team member his advice on their cocktails, he did not hesitate to recommend a drink that suited my wife's taste, he was very helpful. The meals were full of flavour, decent portions and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you Bang Bang team for helping our celebration dinner memorable.
Book well in advance, especially if you want to eat on Friday or Saturday. Although a little pricey (note surcharges on Sunday and public holidays), given the quality, taste and serving sizes, it actually isn't too bad value for money wise. We definitely over ordered, so be careful with how much you order
Cocktails: loved my call me later colada, and the floating market was a treat.
Smalls: salt and pepper tofu was firm and the topping and sauces worked well. The prawn toast was perfect in every way except they make the prawn into a past (I prefer actual prawn pieces)
Bigs: loved the chicken larb, very generous with the serve and amongst the best in Australia. The beef brisket massaman curry was excellent. Each component (potatoes, beef and sauce) were outstanding in their own right. The salted cucumbers were very refreshing.
Next time I think we will stick to two smalls, a big and a salad and see how we go.
Experienced dining here with a group of friends (8 in total). The food was probably the best Thai I have eaten, not greasy at all, was fresh and full of flavour. Having to have the set banquet because of the larger group and order anything else you wanted as additional was frustrating as it didn't fit everyones taste/anaphalactic allergies. I don't think it made the experience easy.
The decor was cool and there was live music (DJ) - also really cool but abit loud for 7pm and dinner time. The staff were amazing, personable, friendly and very attentive. Great for a quick chat too.
I would dine here again, set menu is annoying but being the restaurant is so busy I can understand why it is in place. Highly recommend.
A great Asian fusion joint in Byron. Delicious fresh and tasty food, with some modern twists on Thai classics. Solid portions too.
Highlights include the delectable prawn toast (best I can remember having!) and the pad Thai. Great cocktails too.
We probably over ordered so recommend ordering one main between you if you also have entrees - and order more as you need to.
Book ahead as this gets very busy.
Definitely our fave in Byron! All the flavours were spot on. Cocktails were brilliant and the dishes just looked amazing! Pumping even on a weeknight. Can’t wait to go back!
