We ordered Thai pineapple fried rice, prawn salad and thai red curry. All dishes were beautifully-presented and delicious although they were not completely authentic. The staff and service here are another bigger bonus. So fast and lovely friendly staff. The setting is beautiful and cozy too!
Tried this restaurant on a couple of recommendations and it lived up to expectations. Staff were friendly and food was tasty. Nice casual atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.
This is the best Thai restaurant I have been to in the last few years. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious and filling. I will be back
We love this place.
Perhaps slightly pricier than other Thai restaurants but the food is consistently great, the ambiance authentic and owner Sue is one of the loveliest hosts we’ve met - sorting out vegan requests and keeping my young nephews happy without any semblance of fuss.
Thanks guys
Great food with nice presentation. Nice ambience and quite reasonably priced menu for what you get. Owner and the staff are also friendly. Will come back for more.
We ordered a few dishes to share. The ‘Pad Thai Noodles with Prawns – stir-fried rice noodles with egg, bean curd and ground roasted cashew nuts with tamarind sauce, wrapped in an egg net ($20.00)’. The dish was beautifully presented with the egg net crowning the noodles. The option to make it spicier with a side of dried chilli was a pleasant surprise.
Just a bit more grunt needed .... keep it authentic Ped.
The restaurant looks unassuming from the outside, not a fan but was attracted to those bright coloured bulbs :-) however Ped the owner is a familiar face in the Thai food scene ..... this would be his third or fourth ventures in the South Eastern burbs.
Food wise, all are very well presented, great portion; Crispy Pork Belly and Chinese Broccoli needs a bit more grunt, don't be shy on the intensity and even more chilli please ..... while their Massaman Beef Curry comes in CHUNKS rather than diced meat, which should be followed by other Thai restaurant. It's tender, melts and just right, again the curry sauce needs mote grunt.
All very reasonably priced, $22 for those mains, service was slower but pleasant nonetheless.
BYO is even better .... enjoyable, will come back for more, kop khun krap, JT - 06/06/2017
We keep going back, so Ped must be doing it right. Always a great welcome, and his self-styled " authentic modern street food" is a revelation. Not much more to be said. Just sample it for yourselves.
No. of Visits: 3
I would just come here for the carrot flower sides next to the prawn twitter LOL (no joke!)
The shop interior reminds you the resort-ish feeling of any hospitality place in Thailand. I will give a 3.8 for the food only, yet with the plating of food Ped's Thai really worth a 4.5 score.
For such a small place, services are consistently attentive and detailed. Your water gets refill straight away. Your dishes always set in front of the right person. I value consistency more than anything as you know you are returning to the same service standard, with the same taste and expectation every time.
We were welcomed into the restaurant by Ped himself, a very friendly and chatty gentleman. He was happy to answer any questions we have about the menu, and after some discussion we decided on Tod Mon Pla (Thai fish cakes), to be followed by Gang Massaman (stewed beef curry) with roti, and Yum Ped Krob (duck salad). We enjoyed all of them.
Ped’s Thai has a home-style feel to it, both in service and food – in a good way! We would be happy to return any time for a quick meal for two or an inexpensive feast with friends.
This is somewhere I've always wanted to revisit. My first time here was years and years ago, and somehow just had my sights set on revisiting last night. I don't think the decor or anything has changed since that first visit, as it was stuck somewhere between the 70s-90s.
With that said, the service was reasonably good. There were only a few people in the restaurant at the time we got there, yet somehow, all tables got their meals out of order. The people ordering their meals just a half minute before us, got their entree 15 minutes before ours came out, but we got our mains before them.
The food was quite good. I had the curry puffs and the chicken fried rice and all of mine was tasty. My friends both said their sauces were quite salty, and apparently the cashews were soft and mushy. The other hiccup was nicely resolved though - whereby two soft drinks were definitely out of date, so the lady offered to take them back and gave them a bottle of sparkling water at no charge.
It's a very nice casual meal here. I think with so many other choices in Melbourne, there's no need to rush back again, but if anyone in the area asked me where I'd suggest they eat, I'd definitely recommend it.
Great Thai restaurant in Camberwell. Must be a local favourite as the place was busy. Tasty selection of Thai dishes. Loved the prawns. Desserts were delicious. Staff were helpful and pleasant. BYO wine was also a bonus.
Food are nice and tasty. Big portion and good service.
